  • Recently, there have been intensive researches on the wireless Internet access through WiFi WLAN using WiBro network as backhaul link in the Internet service providing business area. However, in the wireless Internet access method, we need to solve the compatibility problem for different user authentications between licensed WiBro network and unlicensed WiFi network for billing and user management. In this paper, we propose an authentication method for WiFi users by BWAN operators through WiNNERs which is RS connecting the two networks, and discuss the effectiveness of the method.

  • TV White Spaces (TVWS) are freed up after transition from analog television to Digital Television (DTV). Some wireless communications are allowable to operate in TVWSs, such unlicensed Wireless Fidelity (WiFi). Because TVWSs are located in the VHF and UHF bands, TVWSs can provide significantly better coverage and wall penetration inside buildings and other structures than the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi frequencies currently in use. Therefore, this paper assumes that WiFi will be deployed in TVWSs. However, the interference impact of WiFi on DTV has to be taken into account. The interference probability in DTV receiver was evaluated by using Spectrum Engineering Advanced Monte-Carlo Analysis Tool (SEAMCAT). As a result, when 20 WiFi UEs are simultaneously operating at the maximum transmit power of 23 dBm and the guard band is 22 MHz, the protection distance should be at least 6 km to meet the interference probability of 5% in DTV receiver.

  • Wi-Fi is a technology that has become an essential part of our lives, and not simply a convenience. Wi-Fi is mainly used indoors and is evolving in terms of an increase in the transmission speed and expanded coverage. 802.11ac Wi-Fi, operating at 5 GHz, and 802.11ad Wi-Fi, operating at 60 GHz, were standardized in the same year, 2012, as a gigabit-transmission speed Wi-Fi technology. In this article, we examine the current status of the Wi-Fi market trends and present the possibility of the development of 60 GHz Wi-Fi and future market prospects.

  • Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) and Wireless microphone are assumed to operate on adjacent channels in TV White Spaces(TVWS). The Scenario of WiFi potentially interfering with Wireless microphone is analyzed through Minimum Coupling Loss (MCL) and Spectrum Engineering Advanced Monte Carlo Analysis Tool (SEAMCAT) based on the Monte-Carlo simulation method. In the case of single WiFi interfering with Wireless microphone, the protection distance between WiFi and the Wireless microphone should be at least 25.12 m to avoid WiFi impact on Wireless microphone. When the active number of WiFi is 12, the guard band between WiFi and Wireless microphone should not be less than 4.97 MHz to guarantee that WiFi does not interfere with the Wireless microphone.

  • In this paper, the beacon signals of WiFi doppler frequency detection based WiFi-AP was designed with the subcarrier between a transmitter and a receiver of WLAN(wireless LAN). We can use such signals to identify human moving as an antenna array and tracking of RF beam. This wireless security services with the combination of WiFi doppler frequency and adaptive beacon time signal was proposed for wireless detection and motion based services.

  • In this paper, a method of using Software Defined Radio (SDR) is proposed for improving the accuracy of identifying two kinds of signals as Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) signal and Bluetooth signal at the same frequency band of 2.4 GHz based on the time-domain signal characteristic. An SDR device was set up for collecting transmitting signals from Wi-Fi access points (Wi-Fi) and mobile phones (Bluetooth). Different characteristics between Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals were extracted from the measured result. The SDR device is programmed with a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth detection algorithm and a collision detection algorithm to detect and verify the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals based on collected IQ data. These methods are necessary for some applications like wireless communication optimization, Wi-Fi fingerprint localization, which helps to avoid interference and collision between two kinds of signals.

  • LTE and Wi-Fi networks provide wireless communication services to passengers in subway where the number of network access fluctuates according to passenger movement. While the number of network access increase, LTE can provide stable communication service but Wi-Fi suffers temporal access delay to network. This paper analyzes the increase in access delay of Wi-Fi network according to increasing user in subway section by making mathematical modeling of Wi-Fi network and simulation study. The access delay characteristics of Wi-Fi network is measured along an subway line and the results are compared to the theoretical study. These results can be applied to the connection method to build an efficient network structure between LTE and Wi-Fi interworking network and the future introduction of LTE-R.

  • Wi-Fi Direct standard technology(Wi-Fi Peer to Peer Technical Specifications v1.2, 2010) was designed for allowing peer to peer communication between two or more devices and various products which have been currently manufactured such as smart phone and smart TV have already provided this technical function. In this technology the role of Coordinator in Wi-Fi infrastructure would be matched to GO(Group Owner) which needs relatively high energy resource and computation power due to the high probability for allowing 3rd-party connection, however, the current standard specification would be limited in terms of energy distribution because it has not included a process to determine the role of GO. To address above problem, this paper classified considerable parameters into the general parameters for the physicality of devices and the specific parameters for considering the role position depending on use-case scenario, and proposed a new method called DIVA to help efficiently determining GO role from the member devices of Wi-Fi Direct network. Furthermore the effect of this mechanism was proved via simulation-based experiments.
