In this paper, To estimate the train exterior noise and environment noise which are occur when High-Speed EMU is driving with the speed of 370km/h, Estimated sound source about noise that is appeared during operation based upon noise SPL values. Based on aero-dynamic noise source and wheel-rail noise source, these were already used to the existed research, we have estimated each sound power about measured noise, and computed the sound source to apply on the High-Speed EMU, and also calculated the sound power in case of the maximum operation speed of 370km/h.
The railway track and the substructures constructed in the field test section of Kyongbu High Speed Line are the structures for HSL, for the first time designed and constructed by domestic technical group. It is very important to verify the local design criteria and specifications for these structures and also to assure the recordings for vibration or deflection produced on the essential parts of the structures. The study to verify the high-speed railway track performance and to ensure the run in safety on the track in curved section during the KTX run. Finally, the conclusion are drawn as follows. The measuring values of the deflection effort of the rail and displacement for verifying the track performance in the field test section of Kyoungbu HSL satisfy the criteria of the foreign countries (Japan and Germany). The measured value for the wheel load and the presumed value show the consistent tendency. The wheel loads of the exterior and interior of the rails at the speed superior to 300km/h are measured same. Finally, the comparison between the theoretical value presented during the verification of the derailment to evaluate the safety of the train run at the time of the detailed design of the track and the measured value in the field shows that the correct design of track structure was applied.

Korean High Speed Train(KHST) has been tested on the high speed test line in Osung site of Korea High Speed Rail Construction Authority (KHRC). since it was developed as G7 Project Plan In 2002. This paper introduces the dynamic test devices in KHST and shows the comparison between the results of test and theoretical computing results which derive from the new model for KHST dynamic behavior. Previous computer simulation model for KHST was developed to review wether the vehicle system was satisfied with the dynamic performance requirements during the design procedure. But It should be applied the results of the parts test for suspension elements in order to compare between the results of computation and real test. Using VAMPIRE Program made by AEA Technology in UK. the new model also was modified. This paper shows that the static wheel loads calculated from new model is similar to test results. For test on high speed line, we prepared the test devices for evaluating the dynamic performances. which was consisted of the accelerometers( based on Kisler Co.) and the data aquisition systems (based on National instrument Co.), and test program coded by LabView 6i program. These lest devices and programs are flexible to extension the channels for adding sensors and connect to the ethernet network. The acceleration of car bodies, bogie frames and axle boxes were compared between the results of computation and test at 150km/. This paper shows that the results of test were high in high frequency band range but similar frequency band range. It might be considered that these differences were caused by the test which did not performed at constant speed for comparison analysis. Also. It will be able to understand the differences and make better results through a lot of tests planed in future.
In the early stage of operation of KTX, passengers complained of the excessive cabin noise as the passes the tunnel. The noise is caused partly by wheel-rail contact and partly by airflow around the carbody. In this study, to reduce the cabin noise, the effect of the mud-flaps located between the cars is investigated. A series of tests was conducted to clarify the influences of the type and length of mud-flap, and train speed on the cabin noise. The optimum length of mud-flap was found. The shedding vortices around the mud-flap is thought to be the cause of the aerodynamic noise. Strouhal number and the resonant shedding frequency around the mud-flap correlated well with the cabin noise level.

A formulation of three-dimensional model of articulated train-b ridge dynamic interaction has been made for the Korean eXpress Train (KTX). Semi-periodic profiles of rail irregularities consisting of elevation, alignment, cross and gauge irregularities have also been proposed using FRA maximum tolerable rail deviations. The effects of rail joints and sleeper step were also included. The resulting system matrices of train and bridge are very spare, and thus, are stored in one-dimensional arrays, yielding a time-efficient solution. A numerical algorithm for computing bridge-train response including an iterative scheme is also formulated. A program simulating train-bridge interaction and solving this problem using the new algorithm is implemented as new modules for the f inite element analysis software named XFINAS. Computed results using the new program are then checked by that of the validated 2-D bridge-train interaction model. This new 3D analysis provides more detailed train responses such as swaying, bouncing, rolling, pitching and yawing accelerations, which are useful inevaluating passenger riding comfort. Train operation safety and derailment could also be directly investigated by relative wheel displacements computed from this program.

The introduction of the eddy current braking(ECB) system in HSRT(high speed railway train) is known to be advantageous, in that the system is independent on wheel-rail adhesion coefficient which is greatly affected by weather condition. It also minimize the maintenance of the brake system and does not require any additional electric energy because it is powered form the regenerated power at the time of the braking. In this study, the braking and attraction forces of the ECB are simulated by 2-D FEM and are experimentally verified on a down-scaled prototype. A control algorithm of the ECB is proposed to generate constant braking torque using linear variation of the reference current according to speed. Experimental results shows that the constant torque is generated over all operating speed region by developed control algorithm.
By increasing the vertical stiffness of the rail fastening system, the dynamic wheel load of the vehicle can be increased on the ballast track, though this increases the cost of track maintenance. On the other hand, the resistance acting on the wheel is decreased, which lowers the cost of the electric power to run the train. For this reason, the determination of the optimal fastener stiffness is important when attempting to minimize the economic costs associated with both track maintenance and energy to operate the train. In this study, a numerical method for evaluating the optimal vertical stiffness of the fasteners used on ballast track is presented on the basis of the process proposed by L$\acute{o}$pez-Pita et al. They used an approximation formula while calculating the dynamic wheel load. The evaluated fastener stiffness is mainly affected by the calculated dynamic wheel load. In this study, the dynamic wheel load is more precisely evaluated with an advanced vehicle-track interaction model. An appropriate range of the stiffness of the fastener applicable to the design of ballast track along domestic high-speed lines is proposed.
THE VIBRATION MODE OF RAILWAY VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT TO FIND OUT THE CHARACTERISTICS OF MOTION DURING THE OPERATION ON THE TRACK BECAUSE THESE HAPPEN TO INDEPENDENCE OR DUPLICATION MOTION CAUSED BY VEHICLE, WHEEL/RAIL INTERACTION, TRACK IRREGULARITY AND FAILURE OF THE SUSPENSION & POWER TRANSMISSION DEVICE ETC. IT IS NAMED AN ABNORMAL VIBRATION THAT THE VIBRATION, WHICH WAS PASSED THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SUSPENSION, IS AFFECTED TO THE PASSENGER OR DRIVER WITHOUT DAMPING. THIS PAPER DESCRIBES AN EXPERIENCE EVALUATION TO FIND OUT THE CAUSE OF AN ABNORMAL VIBRATION WHICH WAS HAPPEN AT THE CAB OF POWER CAR IN KTX-SANCHEON TRAINSET WHEN ON RUNNING AT HIGH SPEED ZONE.
Contact between wheel and rail leads to the creep phenomenon. Linear creep theory, assuming linear increase in the creep force vs creep, results in a critical speed at which the vibration of a railway vehicle goes to infinity. However, the actual creep force converges to a limited value, so that the vibration of a railway vehicle cannot increase indefinitely. In this study, the dynamics of a railway vehicle is investigated with a 6 DOF bogie model includingthe nonlinear creep curves of Vermeulen, Polach, and a newly calculated creep curve with strip theory. Strip theory considers the profiles of the wheel and rail. The results show that the vibration of a railway vehicle results in a limit-cycle over a specific running speed, and this limit-cycle becomes smaller as the slope of the creep-curve steepens. Moreover, a hunting phenomenon is caused due to flange contact, which restricts the magnitude of the limit-cycle.

KITECH and ODS performed a study of internal and external noise prediction of the KHST test train. The object of this study was 3 kind of cars; trailer car(TT2), motorized car(TM1) and power car(TP1) and the predicted noise was calculated for the two different driving speeds in free field and tunnel conditions. Data of carbody design and noise sources were delivered from each manufactures. Some of noise sources which were not available in project team, were chosen by experiences of ODS. Internal noise level of each car were predicted for two cases i.e, at 300 km/h and 350 km/h. In addition sound transmission path and dominant noise sources were also investigated of each section of car, which is circular shell typed part of whole carbody. In case of TT2, the dominating sound transmission path is floor in terms or structure-borne noise and air-borne noise. The main noise sources are structure-borne noise from the yaw-damper and air-borne noise from the wheel/rail contact, whereas the dominating sound transmission path of TM1 are floor and sidewall below the window in terms of structure-borne noise. The main noise sources of TM1 are structure-borne noise from motor/gear unit and the yaw-damper in the free field, and air-borne noise from the wheel/rail contact and structure-borne noise from motor/gear unit in the tunnel. Through the external noise prediction for the KHST test train formation, the noise form the wheel/rail contact is estimated as one of the major sources. In addition, the noise specification of sub-component was proposed for managing each sub-surpplier to reach the KHST noise requirement. The specification provide the sound power of machinery part and transmission loss of component of carbody structure. The predicted noise level in each case exceeded the required limit. Through this study, the noise characteristics of the test train were investigated by simulation, and then the actual test will be performed in near future. Both measured and calculated data will be compared and further work for noise reduction will be continued.
