Robot Localization with Ultrasonic Position System

  • The robot localization problem is a key problem in making truly autonomous robots. In this work we provide thorough discussions of Ultrasonic Positioning System can be applied to the localization problem. First, we look at the use of Kalman filters and basic concept and the equation involved in Kalman filters. Secondly, we create understanding of how the Kalman filters can be implemented in robot localization. We show our discussion and experiments how Kalman filters applied to the localization problem. Lastly, we perform simulations using Usat Wheel Chair robot in our own general Kalman filters robot monitoring software.

  • This paper describes a motored wheelchair that is suitable for disabled persons. A distinguish feature of our wheelchair is that a closed link mechanism is introduced. This link module changes conventional motored wheelchairs to computer controlled ones. It means that using intelligent functions of the computer, conventional motored wheelchairs can be navigated like an intelligent robot. Three examples of intelligent navigation functions are demonstrated. The first one is a motored wheelchair controlled by the head movement of the operator. The second one is a motored wheelchair with the image processing. Last one is a motored wheelchair with the remote sensing function.

  • The main concepts in the design and construction of an motorized wheelchair for loading in the tar which is intended to drive a disabled to long distance. The wheelchair is basically a powered and folding, so it is designed to motorized manual wheel- chair by modularity method. The wheelchair hrs been installed with a power motor module, battery module, and drive & control module. The goal of this project is to develop a wheelchair that has multifunction and operated disabled who has variety impairment. So we ave currently working. Experimental results of the system approach our purpose, which is improved maneuverability, safety and can be loaded.

  • Spinal muscular atrophies are inherited neurodegenerative disorders affecting anterior hem cells. There are various problems, especially weakness of respiratory muscle and abnormal reaction to muscle relaxants during the general anesthesia. And gingival hyperplasia can make the proper airway management difficult. Experience with anesthetic management in a patient with spinal muscular atrophy combined with gingival hyperplasia has been very rare. We report the anesthetic experience of a wheel-chair-bound child, who underwent gingivectomy under general anesthesia. The child was safely managed with fibroscopic nasotracheal intubation under sevoflurane without muscle relaxants. Also, there was no deterioration of her underlying neurologic conditions.

  • 휠체어 사용자의 이동을 방해하는 요소에는 도로의 경사도, 보도 턱과 같은 물리적인 장벽이 있다. 하지만 물리적 장벽을 직접적으로 제거하기에는 한계가 있고, 힘든 곳들도 많다. 이러한 도로사정 속에서 휠체어 사용자들의 이동상의 어려움을 줄이기 위해 목적지까지 안전하게 이동 가능한 길에 대한 정보를 제공하는 시스템, 가디안을 제안한다. 가디안은 웹 상의 지도 서비스에 수치지도의 정보를 추가하여 도로 경사도 및 기타 장애시설의 정보를 제공한다. 또한, 도로마다 색상의 농도에 따른 안전함의 정도를 표시하고, 사용자 참여기능을 이용하여 도로의 돌발상황 상태를 입력하고 확인할 수 있으며, 보호자와의 실시간 연결 기능을 통해 혼자서 이동하는 두려움을 제거하여 안전한 이동의 완성도를 추구하였다. 여기서는 가디안 시스템의 구조 및 구현을 보인다.

Design and Control of Hybrid a Powered Wheelchair for the Elderly (고령자를 위한 하이브리드형 전동 휠체어의 설계 및 제어)

  • This paper describes the development of a hybrid-powered wheelchair (HPW) for the elderly. The proposed HPW has novel mechanical and control features compared with conventional powered wheelchairs. An ergonomic back-braking mechanism was designed in order to stop the wheels easily. In terms of control features, the HPW remarkably reduces the muscle power required by combining various assistive functions, such as wheel torque assistance, friction/inertia compensation, gravity compensation, and the one-hand driving algorithm. For wheel torque assistance, strain gauges were attached to the hand-rim in order to measure the wheel torque applied by a human. Gyroscopes and an accelerometer were attached to the wheel and chair respectively for friction and inertia compensation. An inclinometer was attached for gravity compensation and the one-hand driving algorithm was included for patients who can only use one hand. The one-hand driving algorithm controls the angular velocity of the uncontrolled wheel by using a gyroscope and pressure sensors attached to the bottom of the seat. Finally, the performance of the proposed motion assisted algorithm was verified through various experiments.

WHEELCHAm MOVEMENT STUDY ANALYSISlThrough movement and test measurement which can be considered as basic study of Ergonomics, observe movement changes accordingly. 3. BACK(MAIN) WHEEL AND HANDRIM MOVEMENT ANALYSIS / Seat and wheel as the most important component of a wheelchair, study the relation of handrim and hand movement and test the most effective and comfortable handrim. Direction of the study was concerntrated on three areas, with results and information collected, would like to suggest design change of X type collapsible chair in areas of size of SEAT(air pocket type), HANDRIM(anti-slip hump), ARMHEST(transfer movement, rubber padding. accent), and HANDLE(adjustable, round type). The content started this study is only one small position of understanding the disabled. Also, the importance of one of many business of assisting disabled rehabilitation. (IJISABLED, REHABILITATION. A Study on the Analysis and Investigation about Barrier-Free in the southern coast of Korea Beach Facilities (남해안 해수욕장 편의시설의 무장애 실태조사 및 분석)

  • Recently, Korean people are more interested in leisure time as the Korean economy has enjoyed the economic growth on a continual basis. Along with it, the disabled people's demand for enjoying the beach is growing. To meet the disabled people's demand for enjoy the beaches, it is important to prepare the convenient facilities where the disabled people in the wheel chair can use comfortably, including the handicapped parking area, toilet for the disabled, shower stall room and am bathhouse. On the backdrop of this, the study has been made on the obstacles which keep the disabled people from using the convenient facilities installed on 12 beaches in the southern coat of Korea from the perspective of barrier free design. This study showed that half of the beaches in question did not have the handicapped parking places. The parking space was also so narrow that it was difficult for handicapped people to access the parking lot with their vehicles. There were also 3 beaches which did not have the toilet for the disabled. Even the beaches which have the toilet for the disabled, the size of entrance door and floor space was so narrow and there were a lot of physical obstacles such as no handles for the disabled people that it was really hard for the disabled people in wheelchair to use them.

  • Korean railroad company is continuously improving the service for the disabled. They also install and reform many facilities for them. However, It is not considered the importance of egress when fire occurred in a cabin Now, Fire hazard analysis and risk assessment are introduced into domestic regulations for improving fire safety performance of train car and railroad facilities. Considering the fact that fire safety evaluation process doesn't fully include disabled person, fundamental egress data for them is very important for life safety aspect. In this paper, Egress experiments and analysis were conducted to measure the movement speed of the disabled with Mugunghwa and Saemaul.

Development of Certification Program for Barrier-Free in Forest Trail (숲길에서의 Barrier-Free 인증제도 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This study carried out to develop barrier-free certification program in forest trail. It is done to provide the certification system presented about certification organized, certification standard and indexes, evaluation method and operation plan. In order to develop certification program in forest trail, detailed measurement index must be developed earlier based on an accessbility, a stability, a preservation and a walking continuity. The suitable forest trail for weak pedestrian was investigated that running slope should be 1/20(5%) maximum, cross slope cannot exceed 1/50(2%) maximum and clear tread width should be above of minimum 90cm. In addition, the trail type is designed as a mixed trail system which is a combination of the loop and the line form and its distance should be 225~675m. Finally, forest trail should be manage sustainably by having regular monitoring and evaluation.
