탄산칼슘 적용에 의한 KOCC 지필의 고형분 증대 (Use of Calcium Carbonate for Improving Solid Content of KOCC Wet Web)

  • For the manufacture of linerboard with 100% KOCC, we tried to increase the solid content of wet web by employing GCC (grounded calcium carbonate) in the fiber furnish to save drying energy. Three different diameters of GCC, namely, 5, 10, and $35{\mu}m$, were used. To complement the strength loss by the addition of GCC, cationic starch and refining treatment were tried. It was found that the addition of $10-35{\mu}m$ dia. GCC to KOCC for $180g/m^2$ basis weight sheets increased the solid content of the furnish about 1-1.5% with better bulk and drainage properties. The loss of strength properties were compensated by the application of cationic starch and/or refining process to the KOCC furnish. The dia. of GCC of $35{\mu}m$ was, however, too large to make smooth surface of the sample sheet. So, the optimization process was required before implementing the results to the mill by selecting proper diameter and shape of the calcium carbonate.

전 생활사 단계의 보름달물해파리(Aurelia aurita s.l.)에 대한 쥐치(Stephanolepis cirrhifer)의 포식과 먹이 선호도 실험 (Predation, Feeding Preference of Threadsail Filefish Stephanolepis cirrhifer on Different Life Stages of Moon Jellyfish Aurelia aurita s.l. in the Laboratory)

  • 해파리에 대한 쥐치의 포식률을 파악하기 위하여 메두사, 에피라, 폴립 단계의 보름달물해파리(Aurelia aurita s.l.)를 쥐치(Stephanolepis cirrhifer)에게 공급하고 포식실험을 수행하였다. 모든 크기의 쥐치는 메두사를 적극적으로 포식하였으며, 포식률은 쥐치의 체중과 비례하였다. 평균 습중량 0.5, 1, 2.2 g의 쥐치 치어는 평균 $0.77{\pm}0.51g\;fish^{-1}h^{-1}$을 포식하였으며, 평균 습중량 150, 344 g의 쥐치 성어는 각각 $9.26{\pm}1.61$, $15.89{\pm}3.67g\;fish^{-1}h^{-1}$을 포식하였다. 유생에 있어서도 평균 습중량 3.7 g의 쥐치가 10분 이내에 100개체의 에피라를 포식하였고, 평균 습중량 2.2 g의 쥐치는 단위체중당 $5.73{\pm}0.59$ polyps $g^{-1}$ of fish $h^{-1}$의 폴립을 포식하였다. 반면에 쥐치 성어는 폴립을 포식하지 않았다. 이와 같은 쥐치의 해파리 포식이 현장에서도 가능한지 알아보기 위해 수행된 먹이 선호도 실험에서, 쥐치 성어는 다른 먹이인 굴(약 60%)과 갯지렁이(약 80%)를 주로 포식하였고 메두사 포식은 약 2%에 불과했다. 하지만 쥐치 치어는 다른 먹이인 곤쟁이류와 함께 에피라, 폴립도 포식하였으며, 폴립에 대해서는 지속적인 포식활동을 보였다. 그리고 쥐치 치어는 주변에 다른 먹이가 있어도 보름달물해파리 유생에 대한 포식이 활발했지만, $11^{\circ}C$ 이하에서는 섭식활동을 중지한 실험결과로부터 $11^{\circ}C$ 보다 수온이 낮은 3-4월경에 발생하는 에피라 유생에 대한 현장에서의 포식 가능성은 낮을 것으로 예상할 수 있다. 반면, 폴립의 경우 수온에 관계없이 연중 서식하기 때문에 현장에서 쥐치 치어의 폴립 포식이 가능할 것이다. 따라서 쥐치를 이용하여 보름달물해파리 구제작업을 시행할 경우, 폴립을 대상으로 하여 쥐치 치어를 이용하는 것이 가장 효과적일 것으로 판단된다.

SWAT-WET을 이용한 안동호의 수질 및 수생태계 모델 구축 (Development of water quality and aquatic ecosystem model for Andong lake using SWAT-WET)

  • 본 연구에서는 상류의 휴·폐광산을 비롯한 다양한 점오염원과 비점오염원으로부터 유실되는 오염물질의 영향을 받는 안동호를 대상으로 수질 및 수생태 모델인 SWAT-WET을 구축하고, 적용성을 평가하고자 한다. 안동호르 유입되는 오염물질에 대한 정량적인 평가를 위해 유역모델인 SWAT을 안동댐 유역(1,584 km2)을 대상으로 구축하여, 검보정을 수행하였다. 유출량과 수질 부하량(SS, T-N, T-P)에 대한 검보정 결과 R2는 각각 0.76, 0.69, 0.84, 0.60 이상으로 분석되었다. 검보정된 SWAT의 유출량과 영양물질의 농도를 WET의 입력자료로 적용하여 안동호에 대한 수질, 수생태 모델 WET을 구축하였다. WET의 매개변수 민감도 분석 결과를 이용하여, 안동호의 수온, 용존산소, 수질농도(T-N, T-P)를 대한 검보정을 수행하였다. 검보정 결과 PBIAS는 각각 +19%, -13%, +4%, +26.5% 로 분석되었으며, 관측 자료를 유의한 수준으로 모의하는 것을 확인하였다. 저서동물의 관측 건중량(gDW/m2)은 0.5 이하였으나 모의 건중량의 평균은 0.8로 분석되었으며, 이는 WET 모델이 더 넓은 개념의 저서동물을 고려하기 때문으로 나타났다. 관측자료 부족으로 정확한 검보정은 어렵지만, 유역모델과의 연계를 통한 장기간 모의와 상류 유역환경변화가 호소에 미치는 영향을 분석할 수 있으므로 안동호의 수환경 관리를 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • Alternative way of shaping fibers suitable for papermaking was introduced. Impact refining, which was done simply by hitting wet fibers with a metal weight vertically, was intended to keep the fibers from shortening and to cause mostly internal fibrillation. Virgin chemical pulp, its recycled one and OCC were used in the experiment. It was noticed from the experiment that impact refining on virgin chemical pulp kept the fiber length and Increased bonding properties greatly, However, in the recycled fibers from the chemical pulp, fiber length and bonding properties were decreased. In OCC, which seems to contain fractions of semi-chemical pulp and mechanical pulp (GP), and which is recycled pulp from corrugated boxes, fiber length and bonding properties were decreased disastrously. We believe recycled cellulosic fibers (recycled chemical pulp and OCC in this case), which went through hornification, were less resistant to the mechanical impact than virgin chemical pulp. For virgin chemical pulp, impact refining allowed no significant fiber length shortening, high WRV, and high mechanical strength.

  • This paper presents a linear model for heat transfer processes in the drying cylinders and the web in papar mill. The PDE model, functions include steam temperatures, wet temperatures, moisture constents, reel speed and basis weight were derived from operation data. The changes of wet temperatures and moisture contents in the drying cylinders and wets could be described. The Transfer function can be obtained through the state space model derived from the linearized PDE model. Stability of the drying cylinder model for paper plants and analysis of characteristics of process responses for changes in input variables are investigated.

니페디핀 서방성 정제의 제제설계 (Formulation of sustained-release matrix tablets of nifedipine)

  • Matrix tablets of nifedipine (NP) were prepared with Eudragit, diluent (lactose or Ca. phosphate) and Mg. stearate employing two different preparation methods (wet granulation and direct compression) to develop its sustained-release dosage forms. The effects of various formulation factors on the dissolution rate of the drug were investigated. Dissolution test was studied in pH 6.8 phosphate buffer containing 1% sodium lauryl sulfate using the paddle method. Formulation factors were the type and content of Eudragit, the type of diluent and the tablet preparation method. The optimum formula of NP matrix tablet, which resulted in a similar dissolution profile to that from Adalat Oros used as a reference, was 30 mg NP, 10% Eudragit RS, 2% Mg. stearate and an adequate quantity of lactose to yield 500 mg weight using the wet granulation method.

Dynamic Simulation of Retention and Formation Processes of a Pilot Paper Machine

  • In an effort to develop control strategies for the wet-end of paper machines, dynamic models for retention and formation processes have been developed. The retention process, including headbox total and filler consistencies, white water total and filler consistencies, the basis weight and the ash content of paper, can be modeled from first-principles (mass balances). To include the effect of wet-end chemistry variables, first-pass retention was included as a parameter dependent on operating conditions. In addition, dynamics of formation was simulated by developing an empirical model of formation and coupling with the dynamic models for the retention process. A series of experiments were performed using a pilot paper machine. The experimental results and the model predictions showed relatively good agreement.

Accumulation and Characterization of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Seafood from the Coastal Areas of Korea

  • Twenty seafood samples, which are common edible species and commercially important items in Korea, were purchased at the local fisheries markets and were analyzed for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) using gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometer detector (GC/MSD). The levels of sixteen PAHs in seafood from Korean coasts were 161 to 2,243 pg/g wet weight. The highest concentration was found at saury (Coloabis saira) and the lowest level was found at jacopever (Sebastes schlegeli). The concentrations of potentially carcinogenic PAHs of six species were in the range of 9 to 123 pg/g wet weight. The residues of PAHs in fishes from Korean coasts were slightly low or relatively moderate to other countries. There was no correlation between PAH residues and lipid contents in seafood samples. The predominant contributors in fish samples were lower-molecular-weight two and three ring aromatic PAHs such as naphthalene, acenaphthene, fluorene and phenanthrene. Filter-feeding organisms like shrimp, crab and topshell were dominated by three- and four-ring aromatic PAHs. The PAH profiles in marine sediments, bivalves, fishes, shrimp, crab and topshell according to exposure pathway were compared through factor analysis. The PAH profiles were clearly classified by the difference of species or environmental matrices. This result suggests that most of PAHs within the same samples behave identically in marine environment.

수도의 수확적기결정을 위한 기초적 연구 (A Study on the Changes in Grain Weight, Moisture Content, Shattering Force, Milling Ratio and Apparant Physical Quality of Rice with Harvesting Time)

  • To determine the optimum harvest time of recent rice varieties from Indica/Japonica remote crosses, leading varieties Suweon 264 and Milyang 23 were tested for the changes in dry matter weight and moisture content of grain, shattering, shelling ratio, milling ratio, and apparant physical quality during grain development at 5 day-intervals from 20 days to 55 days after heading. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Grain weight (dry matter) reached its maximum (physiological maturity) at 30 days after flowering (DAF) in Suweon 264, and at 35 days in Milyang 23, and thereafter it did not change significantly until 55 DAF. 2. Time course of decrease in grain moisture content (Y, %) during maturation (X, DAF) consisted of two linear phases, i.e. a fast and a slow period: Y=68.245-1.33X until 34DAF, and Y=23.025-0.470X until 55DAF after 34DAF in Suweon 264; Y=73.62-1.634X until 24.5DAF, and Y=33.59-0.570X until 55DAF after 24.5DAF in Milyang 23. Two varieties showed the same grain moisture content of 28% (wet basis) at physiological maturity in spite of the distinct differences in the heading date, time of physiological maturity and thereby ripening climate. 3. Force to shatter a grain ranged about 90 to 100g in Milyang 23, and about 200 to 250g in Suweon 264 and in a Japonica variety, Jinheung. The force, however, did not change significantly with harvest time from 35DAF to 50DAF. 4. The changes in the ratios of shelling, milling, broken rice and tinted rice with harvest time were insignificant during a period from 35DAF to 55DAF. However, ratios of green rice and white belly rice decreased significantly with delay in harvest time during 10 days after physiological maturity. 5. The best time of harvest for maximum yield and good quality is thought to be 10 days after physiological maturity, and grain moisture content at this time was about 20% on wet basis.

메밀싹가루 첨가량에 따른 국수의 품질 특성 (Quality Characteristics of Noodles by Addition of Buckwheat Sprout Powder)

  • This study was performed to provide basic data that will predict the usefulness of buckwheat sprout as food materials. The quality characteristics of noodles prepared with buckwheat sprout powder were investigated The buckwheat sprout powder was added to the noodles in 0, 2, 4, 6, and $8\%$ in proportion to the weight of wheat flour, respectively. The added amounts of buckwheat sprout powder did not affect the volume of the noodles. The weight of noodles was decreased, whereas tumidity of the soup after cooking the noodles was increased with the increment of the amount of added buckwheat sprout powder. The color of powder mixture, wet noodles, and cooked noodles was changed by the addition of buckwheat sprout powder. Lightness(L) was decreased, whereas yellowness(b) and redness(a) increased as the amount of buckwheat sprout powder increased. In the texture analysis, hardness and chewiness of wet noodles were increased significantly by the addition of buckwheat sprout powder. Hardness, chewiness, and gumminess increased significantly in the cooked noodles with more than $6\%$ substitution of buckwheat sprout powder. Other textural properties did not show any significant changes. The results of sensory evaluation revealed that the overall preference of noodles with 2 to $4\%$ substitution of buckwheat sprout powder was better than other sample groups. Therefore, the appropriate amount of addition for the buckwheat sprout noodles was 2 to $4\%$ buckwheat sprout powder in proportion to the weight of wheat flour.
