Silica-gold composite particles were prepared by wet chemical route including impregnation method. Obtained composite particles were characterized using FE-SEM, and XPD.
This review presents the preparation, transport mechanism and application of molecularly imprinted membranes (MIM). Molecular imprinting has now been established as a technique which allows the creation of tailor-made binding sites for many classes of compounds. MIM have some advantages; a high capacity due to a large surface area, faster transport of substrate molecules and faster equilibrium of binding cavities compared to molecularly imprinted particles. MIM were prepared by covalent and non-covalent chemical bonding systems, by interactions between functional monomer and template. MIM can be prepared by in-situ polymerization, wet phase inversion, dry phase inversion, and surface imprinting method. MIM can continuously separate mixtures based on facilitated or retarded diffusion of the template. MIM can change their permeability in the presence of templates. MIM have a potential to be used to separate chiral compounds and materials with similar structures. However the application of MIM by the chemical industries is still in its infancy stages.
Yttrium aluminum garnet, $Y_3Al_5O_{12}$ (YAG) is an extensively used solid-state laser host material. YAG nanocrystals were synthesized using low-temperature glycol method, a modified sol-gel method performed at low temperature that consists of a mixture of salts that are mostly nitrates in an aqueous media. Single-phase nanocrystalline YAG was obtained at $850^{\circ}C$, which is a much lower temperature than with other techniques such as a wet-chemical technique. The structural characterization is done by powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. A crystallite size range of 20-50 nm was observed for the materials prepared at $850-950^{\circ}C$.

As the feature size of Si-based semiconductor shrinks to nanometer scale, we are facing to the problems such as short channel effect and leakage current. One of the solutions to cope with those issues is to bring III-V compound semiconductors to the semiconductor structures, because III-V compound semiconductors have much higher carrier mobility than Si. However, introduction of III-V semiconductors to the current Si-based manufacturing process requires great challenge in the development of process integration, since they exhibit totally different physical and chemical properties from Si. For example, epitaxial growth, surface preparation and wet etching of III-V semiconductors have to be optimized for production. In addition, oxidation mechanisms of III-V semiconductors should be elucidated and re-growth of native oxide should be controlled. In this study, surface preparation methods of various III-V compound semiconductors such as GaAs, InAs, and GaSb are introduced in terms of i) how their surfaces are modified after different chemical treatments, ii) how they will be re-oxidized after chemical treatments, and iii) is there any effect of surface orientation on the surface preparation and re-growth of oxide. Surface termination and behaviors on those semiconductors were observed by MIR-FTIR, XPS, ellipsometer, and contact angle measurements. In addition, photoresist stripping process on III-V semiconductor is also studied, because there is a chance that a conventional photoresist stripping process can attack III-V semiconductor surfaces. Based on the Hansen theory various organic solvents such as 1-methyl-2-pyrrolydone, dimethyl sulfoxide, benzyl alcohol, and propylene carbonate, were selected to remove photoresists with and without ion implantation. Although SPM and DIO3 caused etching and/or surface roughening of III-V semiconductor surface, organic solvents could remove I-line photoresist without attack of III-V semiconductor surface. The behavior of photoresist removal depends on the solvent temperature and ion implantation dose.
In this study, a new wet etching method and the solution for thinning the glass with the thickness below $100{\mu}m$ were investigated. For the preparation of etching solution with low hydrofluoric acid, it was effective to use $NH_4F$ or $NH_4HF_2$ as a main ingredient with the addition of sulfuric acid or nitric acid. Influence of the composition of mixed acid solution and the temperature on the etching rate was investigated. The addition of anionic surfactant provides the function to prevent the adhesion of sludge generated by the etching reaction. A new wet etching pilot device equipped with streaming generation parts was used to test etching of commercial non-alkali glass and soda lime glass. The non-alkali glass with the thickness of 640 ${\mu}m$ and soda lime glass with the thickness of $500{\mu}m$ were etched to $45{\mu}m$ and $100{\mu}m$, respectively, by using the pilot device. After the etching by pilot device, the roughness degree of the glass surface was maintained at $0.01{\sim}0.02{\mu}m$.

Nowadays, trivalent rare-earth ($RE^{3+}$) ions activated metal oxides have been proved to be excellent host materials due to their various applications. Facile wet-chemical technique have been considered as the best synthetic route due its intensive interest in the preparation of nanostructures. Europium ion doped lanthanum hydroxide ($La(OH)_3:Eu^{3+}$) phosphors were synthesized by the facile wet chemical method using the hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) as a mediated surfactant. The thermal behavior for the $La(OH)_3:Eu^{3+}$ phosphors was investigated by thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis method. The morphological studies were measured by scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope measurements, indicating three-dimensional (3D) flower-like $La(OH)_3:Eu^{3+}$ nanorod bundles. After subsequent annealing process, the lanthanum oxide ($La_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$) phosphor exhibited similar kind of morphology. The synthesized $La(OH)_3:Eu^{3+}$ and $La_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Furthermore, photoluminescence and cathodoluminescence properties were studied in details.

Nickel ultrafine powder have been synthesized by chemical reduction of aqueous $NiSO_4$ with hydrazine at various reaction conditions. The effect of reaction conditions such as the amount of surfactant and reductor, and reaction temperature on the particle size and shape was investigated by the mean of XRD, SEM and SEM-PSA. Experiments showed that the ratio of $N_{2}H_4/Ni$ and the reaction temperature were affected on the particle size of the nickel powder. The average particle size of synthesized nickel powder increased with increasing reaction temperature regardless of the ratio of $N_{2}H_4/Ni$. Also the surfactant could influence the size and agglomeration of ultrafine powder with the reaction temperature.
Petroleum pitch and coke with wet mixture method or with dry mixture method were investigated to develop the composite anodic carbon material of high power lithium ion battery. Cokes coated with pitch were obtained by the heat treatment of mixture of cokes and pitch with different weight ratios at $800{\sim}1200^{\circ}C$. The charge and discharge characteristic of the consequent composite anodic carbon material assembled in batteries was tested. Cokes with wet mixture method have a smooth surface and their capacity changed little with changing temperature and content as compared to the cokes with dry mixture method. Although the reversible capacities showed different values by the anode manufacturing method, the composite anode with the mixture of 20 wt% of petroleum pitch and 80 wt% of coke showed the higher power capability and initial efficiency than the pitch based anode. However, the reversible capacity of the composite anode showed the reduced value as compared with the pitch based anode.

Monodispersed and nano-sized Cu powders were synthesized from copper sulfate pentahydrate $(CuSO_4{\cdot}5H_2O)$ inside a nonionic polymer matrix by using wet chemical reduction process. The sucrose was used as a nonionic polymer network source. The influences of a nonionic polymer matrix on the particle size of the prepared Cu powders were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction), scanning electron microscopy), and particle size analysis). The smallen Cu powders with size of approximately 100 nm was obtained with adding of 0.04M sucrose at reaction temperature of $60\;^{\circ}C$. The particle size of the Cu powders prepared by the reduction inside polymer network was strongly dependent of the sucrose content and reaction temperature.
