한국 다방문화의 변천에 관한 연구 (A Study of the History of Korea DA-BANG Culture)

  • The aim of this study is to find out the changes that have happened to korea DA-BANG(tea-room). This survey was carried out from 1876 to 1997 and the subject of this study is korea DA-BANGS in Seoul. Following conclusions were obtained from this study. 1) DA-BANG came into being from Koryo ages and more DA-BANGS from 1920's. 2) DA-BANG has changed in the following order : GAEWHA DA-BAHG(that were used to meet, communicate and negotiate foreigners when out country was opening ports), MUNWHA DA-BANG(that were used cultural space for example, exhibitio, display etc.), SEANGWHAL DA-BANG(the place that used a part of living space ; meeting friends to make appointment, etc.), SANGUB DA-BANG(commercial tea-room ; the place that makes money.) 3) Considering early MUNWHA DA-BANG, we can regard the beginning of korea interior architecture as 1920's. 4) The decline of DA-BANG is due to the increase of vending machine, expensive tea, costly rent, employee's dear wages and customer's needs that pursues westernization and convenient life as well as the moodof more comfortable tea-room(for example, fresh air, agreeable mood etc.).

우리나라 스님들의 식생활과 영양실태 조사.연구 (A Study on the Dietary Life and Nutritional Status of the Buddhist Priests)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate of the dietary life and nutritional status of the Buddhist priests. Dietary life, the state of prepare a meal and menu are carried out through the questionnaire and the nutritional status is carried out through the analysis of the constituents of the blood. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. 1. The traditional temple's foods undergo a change with the variety and westernization of dietary life. 2. Buddhist priests take a carbohydrate centered meal and the intake of protein and lipid is tendency to lack, but the intake of vitamin and mineral is sufficient with various vegetables. 3. The content of the lipid compoents and glucose of blood are low and they are free from the danger of geriatric diseases but the content of triglyceride is very higher than the healthy general adults. Therefore it is necessary to improve the nutritional status of the buddhist priests with decrease the intake of rice and increase the various side dish and to develop the standard menu for the Buddhist priests.

이스탄불여성의 폐면문화 연구 (The Study of Face Concealing Culture of Istanbul Women)

  • This study will covered socio-cultural background and characteristic of the face-concealing culture of Istanbul which has liberal and westernized clothes culture for women even if it's an city in an Islamic country. This study depended on literatures related to religion, culture and costumes of the Ottoman Empire, especially costumic data on miniature of turkey, which was famous from 16th to 19th century. Since the 17th century, the Ottoman Empire has been gradually influenced by European countries but the change of women's clothes was not considerable. In the 18th century, women's clothes were influenced by foreign fashions. A veil to cover the face was gradually disappeared and traditional Turkish headdresses were replaced by European hats. Through face-concealing culture of Istanbul, we can see some socio-cultural features like Islamic religious character, one's social position, economic situation, westernization and renovation, beauty and completion of costume, duality for the reason of regional difference.

농촌 부엌공간에 대한 거주자 평가 및 요구 (The Users' Needs and Evaluation on the Rural Kitchen Space)

  • The objectives of this study were to prove that the rural kitchen style followed the urban's style and to find the different needs of rural western kitchen style from urban's through the evaluation of users. Interview data were collected by 100 residents in Chonbuk rural area and were analyzed qualitatively and Quantitatively. The results showed that the westernization of rural kitchen, as predicted about 12 years ago, ran after the urban's. In addition to the urban kitchen style, the users of the rural western kitchen desired 'the second kitchen' near to their Ma-dangs and main kitchens. The safety, convenience and comfort of it were satisfactorily evaluated, especially the convenience factor was very important in the rural kitchen design. They also wanted to arrange the refrigerator for Kim-chi or the larger refrigerator in it and to plan the L-DK type.

역대(歷代) 학생모(學生帽)에 관한 고찰(考察) (A Study on the Traditional Students' Headgear)

  • This study focuses upon the custom of the headgear as a part of historical research on our traditional student uniform. It covers from Sam Kuk period(三國鼎立時代) of which we have found written records of formal education through the period under Japanese colonialism: The followings briefly summerizes the results of this study; 1) The educational civilization. The formalism of national education had been similar to that of China. It's main contents consisted of Chinese literature and practice of confucianism. It's objectives had been the education of selected men of ability, most of whom were the offspring of the high class. The education contents after the civilizational period had been gradually modernized for the purpose of westernization. 2) The changes of students' headgear. They had worn the Nakwon of Julpoong style (折風形羅冠) in the Sam Kuk period. They had worn Bok-Doo in the unified Silla dynasty, and Sadaimoolla-Kun (四帶文羅巾), Pyungjung-Kun (平頂巾) and Pyungjung-Dookun (平頂頭巾) in Koryo dynasty. They had worn Yoo-Kun (儒巾), Bok-Kun (福巾) in Yi dynasty. The noticeable distinction under Japanese colonialism had been the custom uniformity from headgear to footwear. Middle school educatee had worn round cap and professional school and college educatees had worn square hats.

백서에서 식이내 열량 영양소의 배분이 인슐린 분비능과 인슐린 저항성에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Dietary Caloric Distribution on Insulin Secretion and Insulin Resistance in Sprague Dawley Rats)

  • The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus has been rapidly increased in parallel with the westernization of eating behavior in Korea. Increased consumption of animal fat and simple sugar can be potential contributors for insulin resistance. The purpose of the study was to determine whether Western-(WD) and Korean-style(KD) diets altered insulin secretion and insulin resistance in male Sprague Dawley rats. Rats weighing 98$\pm$5g were provided by KD(77 En% of starch, 5 En% of corn oil and 13 En% of gluten plus 5 En% of casein), WD(42 En% of starch, 40 En% of butter and 18% of casein) or control diet(62 En% of starch, 20 En% of corn oil and 18% of casein) for 12 weeks. Body weights were lower in KD compared to WD. Fasting blood glucose levels were not different among diets. Insulin secretion from the beta cells was higher by 2.2$\pm$0.4 folds in WD than KD at baseline. In hyperglycemic clamp insulin secretion was higher in WD than KD and CD. Whole body glucose disposal rates referred to the state of insulin sensitivity were lowest in WD among groups. Glycogen deposits in soleus and quadriceps muscles were lowest in WD among all groups, but their triglyceride contents were highest. GLUT4 contents and glycogen synthase were lowest in WD in both muscles. In conclusions, westernization of diets needed more insulin to normalization of blood glucose levels due to increased insulin resistance. Thus, WD would lead to increased prevalence of diabetes mellitus when increased insulin resistance could not be compensated by insulin secretion in the case of elevated blood glucose levels. 한국 전통음악의 전승과 미래 - 가야금산조를 중심으로 - (Transmission of Korean Traditional Music - Focusing of Solo Instrumental Music for the Gayageum (12-stringed Zither) -)

  • 20세기 초 일제강점기를 겪고 서양문화의 급격한 수입으로 인해 전통은 '과거의 진부한 유산'으로 취급받으면서 전통음악은 농경사회의 잔재 혹은 '기생문화'의 전형으로 여겨졌다. 이런 와중에 전통음악문화는 매우 빠른 속도로 붕괴되면서 피폐화되었다. 1960년대 이후 전통문화를 보호하기 위한 문화재보호법이 제정되면서 무형문화유산은 정부의 보호막에 들어갔다. 이후 많은 전통음악장르가 중요무형문화재로 지정되어 근근이 명맥을 유지하게 된다. 또한 많은 대학에 국악과가 설립되고, 국립국악원을 비롯한 각종 시립·도립 국악관현악단이 설립되면서 전통음악은 부활하고 있다. 그러나 제도권 음악계의 이런 변화는 우리의 전통음악문화의 전승방법과는 전혀 다른 것이다. 전통음악을 포함하는 무형문화유산은 살아있는 생명체이고, 전통음악은 이를 둘러싼 유기적인 환경이 바뀌면 외부환경의 영향으로 스스로 소멸되기도 하고 새로운 환경에 적응하기 위하여 끊임없이 변모하기 마련이다. 한번 창작되면 어느 정도의 고정성을 갖는 완성예술(product arts)인 서양예술음악과는 달리 한국 전통음악은 음악가의 손을 거치면서 시대적으로 끊임없이 새로운 모습으로 변화하는 과정예술(process arts)의 전형적인 형태를 보인다. 이것이 한국 전통음악의 생명력이었다. 일제강점기 이후 자생적 생명력을 소진한 전통음악은 해방 이후에는 외부의 동력에 힘입어 새로운 생명력을 얻게 되었다. 즉, 해방 이후의 전통음악문화는 기존의 음악문화와는 전혀 다른 경험을 통해 성장하고 있다. 이는 전통문화의 재창조·전승이라는 긍정적인 작용과 더불어 왜곡·박제화라는 부정적인 면도 공존하고 있는 실정이다. 이 글에서는 가야금산조를 중심으로 전통음악의 전승과 미래를 논의하고자 한다. 전통음악의 부침과 부활을 가장 극명하게 보여주는 것이 기악독주음악인 산조이다. 19세기 끝머리에 처음 만들어진 산조는 일제강점기에는 판소리의 전성시대에 힘입어 괄목할만한 성장을 이룬다. 그러나 해방 후에는 전통음악의 부침과 더불어 침체기를 겪다가 1960년대 이후 중요무형문화재와 대학 교육의 영향으로 부활하여 지금은 전통음악장르를 대표하는 음악으로 성장했다.

영양교육이 고콜레스테롤혈증 환자의 식습관 및 혈청 지질 농도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Medical Nutrition Therapy on Food Habits and Serum Lipid Levels of Hypercholesterolemic Patients)

  • Hypercholesterolemia has been regarded as a major risk factor of coronary heart disease(CHD). CHD is increasing in recent years among Koreans due to westernization of lifestyle and dietary behaviors. In the United States, implementation of the National Cholesterol Education Program(NCEP) had resulted 40% decline in mortality from CHD. This study was designed to evaluate the effect of medical nutrition therapy on serum lipid levels and discuss the effective nutrition education contents. Thirty outpatients(Male 40%, female 60%) with hypercholesterolemia were educated by medical nutrition therapy(MNT) protocol. At first visit and after three months of MNT, we assessed serum lipid profile, body weight and surveyed general characteristics, lifestyle and food habits through questionnaire. After 12 weeks of MNT, there were significant reductions in serum cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C). Foods habits and lifestyle were changed to the desirable patterns. These results indicate that lipid profile is improved by changes of dietary behaviors and lifestyle. Especially in case of obesity, cholesterol lowering effect of MNT was more powerful. Consequently, MNT is effective on reduction of serum lipids by behavior change in hypercholesterolemic patients.

일제강점기 박람회 건축을 통해 본 건축양식의 상징성 (Symbolic Meanings of Architectural Style of Expo Buildings during Japanese Ruling Era of Korea)

  • This research examines symbolic meanings of architectural style of Japanese ruling era of Korea through analysis of Expo buildings. Expo buidings of Joseon Product Evaluation Expo(1915), Joseon Expo(1929), and Joseon Grand Expo(1940) are chosen as subjects of this research. Expos held in Korea since 1945 were creatures of colonial reign and their objectives are advertising the advancement of Japan. New and latest architectural styles of Western countries were used as a symbol of advancement in non-western countries. Renaissance style and Secession style in Joseon Product Evaluation Expo and Modernism style in Joseon Expo were introduced as architectural styles that symbolize advancement. On the contrary, the traditional architectural style of Joseon Dynasty was distorted as symbol of backwardness. Latest Western Architectural Styles were used elaborately and Intentionally to symbolize advancement and industrialization by Japanese ruling power and companies. Specially, Modernism style operating as 'symbol of advancement' is characteristic of non-western society in attempt to proceed Modernization through Westernization. Also, it can be suggested that architectures in Modernism style are used in ways to symbolize the advancement of the colonial reign authorities within the colonial society.

근대 한국 사회에서의 모던 신체미의 형성과 특성 (The Formation and the Features of Modern Body Aesthetics in Modern Korea)

  • The purpose of this study is to figure out what the beauty of the modern body means and symbolizes from the aesthetic, sociocultural, and psychological perspectives and to investigate how it was formed in the modern Korean society. The data were obtained from the magazines and newspapers published from 1920 to 1939 and analyzed by qualitative content analysis. The results were as follows: First, the modern body from an aesthetic standpoint was characterized by the beauty of westernization, healthy body shape, sensuality, curvaceousness, activity, balance and harmony, and artificiality. The beauty of the modern body from a sociocultural perspective symbolized modern culture and implied the value evaluated by visual appearance. Therefore, the modern body became an object of consumption and the physical capital that gave women chances for their social success and happy marriages. The beauty of the modern body from a psychological viewpoint expressed individuality as a modern ego. Second, the formation of modern body esthetics was explained within the context of social comparison theory. The ideal body suggested by mass media was internalized as the aesthetic standard women used to create modern bodies and with which they compared their created bodies.
