한국춤의 미적범주, 맛과 멋 (Aesthetic Category in Korean Traditional Dance, Mat & Meot)

  • 본 연구자는 먼저 한국학에 있어서 미의 개념 및 미의식을 살펴보면서 한국춤의 미적체험 속에서 맛과 멋으로 표현되는 미적 의미와 가치를 조망하고, 어떻게 구현되는지를 탐색해 보고자 한다. 먼저 한국춤의 움직임의 원리를 분석하고, 일반화된 미의식이외에 곡선의 원리에 의한 '무한대의 생명론적 미의식'이 맛과 멋의 미의식으로 승화되었다고 보았다. 한국춤의 생명성은 바로 원을 지향하는 곡선에서 가장 극명하게 드러나며, 맛과 멋의 미의식을 가장 크게 느끼게 해주는 움직임의 원리이다. 그러나 한국춤의 움직임이 현대로 오면서 서구의 영향에 의해 점차 직선적인 움직임 기법을 자주 사용하면서 곡선적인 움직임이 사라져가고 맛과 멋에 대한 미적 감성조차 느끼기 힘들어졌다. 따라서 한국춤의 독자적이고 고유한 맛과 멋의 미의식을 지켜나가기 위해서는 한국춤의 전통적인 움직임의 원리인 곡선춤을 지켜나가야 할 것이며 심(心)과 신(身)이 공유할 수 있도록 무용가들의 지속적인 노력과 방안이 필요하다. 나아가 한국춤의 맛과 멋의 미의식에 대한 연구도 지속적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다.

패션연구 및 패션디자인·미학·복식사 분야 관련 연구동향 - 2004~2013년 및 <복식문화연구>를 중심으로 - (The research trends of fashion studies and fashion design·aesthetics·fashion history field - Focused on 2004~2013 and -)

  • The areas of fashion research and fashion design aesthetics & fashion history have been studied under a common research heading as a Humanities subject in the UK and the USA, and as Clothing and Textiles Studies in Korea. The purpose of this paper was to analyze the 2004~2013 research tendencies in terms of reporting methods and contents from 181 world-renowned Fashion Theory research papers within the UK and USA fashion research corpus, and 359 Korean research papers from The Research Journal of Costume Culture related to fashion design aesthetics & costume history field. The subject areas, periods, methodologies, and differences in the topics of the studies were examined. The results of the research are as follows. Regarding the research authorship and length of the research papers, in Fashion Theory most papers were written by a single English-speaking or other foreign language-speaking author and were on average longer than 21 pages, while in The Research Journal of Costume Culture, many papers were jointly written by two Korean researchers and were between 11 and 20 pages. Regarding the content, Fashion Theory was connected to relatively wide and diverse periodical and regional boundaries including the body, clothing, the fashion media, and the overall fashion system, while The Research Journal of Costume Culture revolved around the body and clothing, textiles, the fashion media, and costumes. In addition, since the late $20^{th}$ century, the studies appeared to be related to the current Western world overall or to the country of the author. Regarding the research methodology, Fashion Theory used diverse research subjects and methodologies, and research was conducted on topics relating to fashion culture or fashion aesthetics. On the other hand, The Research Journal of Costume Culture featured relatively more dynamic studies aimed at suggesting developments or solutions to problems. It was found that a large share of that research focused on detailed style analyses and suggestions for aspects such as design elements and design developments. Such differences are considered to be caused by the inherent differences between the academic departments for the Humanities, and the Human Ecology. The above research results are expected to provide fundamental information in setting a direction for future research to assist the globalization of domestic research.

한국 디자인의 문화적 정체성에 대한 소고: '웰빙'과 '심신일원론' (An Inquiry into the Cultural Identity of Korean Design: 'Well-Being' and 'Body-Mind Monism')

  • 최근 우리나라의 ‘웰빙’ 현상이 상품화된 웰빙의 유사 이데올로기라는 점에서는 논의의 여지가 없다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 웰빙철학의 기저에서 낚아 올릴 수 있는 한국 디자인의 문화적 컨텐츠로서의 잠재적 가치마저 간과할 필요는 없을 것이다. ‘행복’과 ‘안녕’이라는 사전적 의미를 넘어 웰빙은 마음의 평안과 정신적 풍요로움을 지향함으로써 ‘심신일원론’적 라이프 스타일을 옹호하고 있다. 소비주의에 편승한 유행으로서의 웰빙의 상품미학을 한국의 문화적 정체성을 보유한 대안 담론으로 승화시켜 우리나라 디자인 컨텐츠의 고유모델로 자리매김하기 위해서는 웰빙이라는 보편적 기호가 담지하고 있는 양질의 문화적 가치에 대한 발굴이 요청된다. ‘자연의 도’를 따르는 생활태도와 다름 아닌 웰빙은 동아시아의 탈-이원론적 사유방식의 전형인 것이다. 동아시아의 일원론적 사상과 조형의식 속에 이미 자리하고 있는 웰빙의 흔적을 역으로 추적함으로써 작금의 웰빙 현상과 심신일원론을 연결하는 계보를 좁게는 한국, 넓게는 동아시아의 문화적 전통 속에서 발견할 수 있다. 몸과 마음이 본디 둘이 아니라 하나라는 동아시아의 일원론적 사유체계를 서구로부터 수입된 웰빙 현상의 이론적 모태로 삼을 경우, 한국의 디자인 담론이 탈-식민화 되는 단초가 마련될 전망이다. 서구 중심의 이원론적 패러다임에 대한 반성을 토대로 새로운 가치를 모색해야 하는 성찰적 근대화의 시대에 일원론적 인식에 기반하는 웰빙이 국내외 디자인계에 던져줄 잠재적 의미성에 기대를 걸어볼 일이다.

한국(韓國) 개창(開創) 신흥종교(新興宗敎) 의예복식(儀禮服飾)의 구조적(構造的)인 특징(特徵)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Structural Characteristics of Ceremonial Costumes in New Aboriginal Religious Groups in Korea)

  • This study examined the characteristics of 45 sects of seven new aboriginal religious groups in Korea including Jeungsan sect, Tangun sect, Soowoon sect, Won Buddhism, Bongnam sect, Gahksedo sect, Shamanism sect that had given a considerable influence on the modem Korean society since the end of 19th century through the field study and the review of documents. The purpose of the study was to elucidate how their religious ideas were reflected in their ceremonial costumes and what characteristics these costumes had. The results were as follows: 1. The new religious groups in Korea modified or mixed the designs or the names of existing outfits to convey their ideas or beliefs through their costumes. 2. The costumes of new religious groups had common characteristics of the times, Korean tradition and ancestor worship. 3. All the ceremonial costumes symbolized the creeds and ideas of each religion in their names, designs, and colors. The names of the costumes such as Way-Robe, Law-Robe, and Ceremony-Robe, and of the headpieces such as Sky-Crown, Lotus-Crown, Ceremony-Crown, and Sevenfold-Crown, for instance, were related with Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. The most common design of costume was consisted of traditional hanbok and some type of headpiece and robe for men, and hanbok modified to Western-style for women. Most sects adopted hanbok as their ceremonial costume, but they tend to simplify its design. The color scheme of the costumes reflected the influence of the Yul-Yang and Five Elements idea but the colors varied depending on seasons and occasions to suit their creeds and philosophy. 4. These religious costumes were worn at various ceremonies, ritual, and various anniversary services for the master and other dignitaries of the sect to render greater piety to those gatherings, to distinguish the sect from other religious groups, to clarify the meaning of the ceremony, and to heighten the devout feelings of the participants. Thus, the structure (the symbol, names, and types of the outfit, and their color scheme) and religious background of the costumes of the new aboriginal religious groups in Korea turned out to have inherited and mixed various elements of traditional Korean outfits and those of existing religions to symbolize their religious ideas.

백서에서 식이내 열량 영양소의 배분이 인슐린 분비능과 인슐린 저항성에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Dietary Caloric Distribution on Insulin Secretion and Insulin Resistance in Sprague Dawley Rats)

  • The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus has been rapidly increased in parallel with the westernization of eating behavior in Korea. Increased consumption of animal fat and simple sugar can be potential contributors for insulin resistance. The purpose of the study was to determine whether Western-(WD) and Korean-style(KD) diets altered insulin secretion and insulin resistance in male Sprague Dawley rats. Rats weighing 98$\pm$5g were provided by KD(77 En% of starch, 5 En% of corn oil and 13 En% of gluten plus 5 En% of casein), WD(42 En% of starch, 40 En% of butter and 18% of casein) or control diet(62 En% of starch, 20 En% of corn oil and 18% of casein) for 12 weeks. Body weights were lower in KD compared to WD. Fasting blood glucose levels were not different among diets. Insulin secretion from the beta cells was higher by 2.2$\pm$0.4 folds in WD than KD at baseline. In hyperglycemic clamp insulin secretion was higher in WD than KD and CD. Whole body glucose disposal rates referred to the state of insulin sensitivity were lowest in WD among groups. Glycogen deposits in soleus and quadriceps muscles were lowest in WD among all groups, but their triglyceride contents were highest. GLUT4 contents and glycogen synthase were lowest in WD in both muscles. In conclusions, westernization of diets needed more insulin to normalization of blood glucose levels due to increased insulin resistance. Thus, WD would lead to increased prevalence of diabetes mellitus when increased insulin resistance could not be compensated by insulin secretion in the case of elevated blood glucose levels. 20세기 패션디자인의 건축적 패러다임 특성 고찰 (An Observation on Characteristic of Architectural Paradigm in Twentieth Century Fashion Design)

  • The mutual relationship between fashion and architecture and the similarities in their form and structure have been continuously debated over the decades, considering that both spheres are objects used in human life. Both spheres bring about the creation of three-dimensional space structures that are completed by the human body and material, based on a design targeted for people. The similarities between fashion and architecture in terms of form and structure have been debated by western architecture scholars focusing on the support that holds the garment's shape, the tailoring of a men's suit and also the material. The debate originates from the discussion of F. Th. Vischer, Kritische Gnge, and Gottfried Semper during the nineteenth century on the similarities between crinoline and the form of architecture and also the similarities between sewing and architecture. However, architects always regarded fashion as the inferior creative process that follows architecture in viewing the relationship between fashion and architecture. During the mid to end of the twentieth century, contrary to previous decades, the sense of fashion in architecture stood out, as an issue and a different approach was taken in discussing architecture that incorporates fashion. Accordingly, in the mid 1990's, architecture scholars such as Deborah Fausch and Mark Wigley began to conduct close observation of the mutual relationship between fashion and architecture from a more equal point of view. Notwithstanding, their point of view was still biased towards architectural standards. Commencing the Millennium, fashion has become the primary work of creation which leads style in all spheres, and under these circumstances this point of view has transferred from architecture to fashion when thinking about relationships between these spheres. The discussion on fashion and architecture form fashion's point of view is currently concentrated on the post 1990's phenomenon and illustrates the environment that is related to architecture. In general, the discussion is limited to determining a work of an individual designer as 'being architectural' when explaining the sculptural form of fashion. Therefore, this research aims to renew the discussion on twentieth century fashion design, which was neglected in any studies on observing architecture and fashion. The aim of this research is to classify the architectural paradigm of twentieth century fashion design and to observe the architectural forms of the respective eras. It is necessary to have a close observation of the architectural paradigm in twentieth century fashion design where support tools such as the crinoline was avoided and the form and functionality of the garment itself was emphasized. I will conduct this research by considering the architectural form shown in fashion as a practical three-dimensional creation that exists in space.

생쥐의 간과 HepG2 세포에 있어서 내인성 small heterodimer partner (SHP)의 단백질 수준에 미치는 cholic acid/CDCA 및 FGF-19의 효과 (Effects of Cholic Acid/CDCA and FGF-19 on the Protein Levels of the Endogenous Small Heterodimer Partner (SHP) in the Mouse Liver and HepG2 Cells)

  • 최근의 연구에서 생쥐에 장기간 서구식 사료를 급여했을 때 내인성 SHP 단백질의 수준이 증가함을 보고하였다. 또한 HepG2 세포배양을 통한 실험에서, CDCA 처리가 내인성 SHP 단백질의 수준을 증가시킬 뿐만 아니라 외인성으로 발현된 flag-SHP의 분해율을 감소시켰다. 그리고 HepG2 세포를 ad-flag-SHP로 유전자 형질전환 시켰을 때, 담즙산에 의해 유도되어진 소장 FGF-19이 외인성으로 발현된 flag-SHP 단백질의 반감기를 증가시켰다. 그러나 cholic acid와 FGF-19에 의한 내인성 SHP 단백질의 발현수준과 분해율은 생쥐 또는 배양된 간암세포주에서 아직 명확히 이해되고 있지 않다. 이 연구는 cholic acid의 처리가 생쥐에서 내인성 SHP 단백질의 수준에 미치는 영향과, FGF-19이 HepG2 세포주에서 내인성 SHP 단백질의 분해율에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 정상적인 사료를 급여한 대조군 생쥐에서의 내인성 SHP 단백질 수준과 비교하여, 0.5%의 cholic acid를 첨가한 사료를 급여한 생쥐에서는 12시간과 24시간의 처리기간 동안에 내인성 SHP 단백질의 수준이 증가하였다. 배양된 인간 간암세포주인 HepG2에서 CDCA의 처리는 CDCA를 처리하지 않은 대조군 세포주와 비교하여 내인성 SHP 단백질의 분해율을 유의성 있게 변화시키지 않았다. 한편 외인성 ad-flag-SHP 단백질에 대한 이전의 연구와 일치하게, HepG2 세포에 cyclohexamide를 처리하였을 때 FGF-19는 내인성 SHP 단백질의 분해율을 현저히 감소시켰다. 이러한 결과는 담즙산과 FGF-19 모두 생쥐의 간과 HepG2 세포주에서 내인성 SHP 단백질의 수준을 증가시킴을 제시한다.

고부가가치 맞춤형 상추품종 개발을 통한 국내 상추유통 제고 전략 (Strategies to Increase Domestic Lettuce Circulations through Improving Valuable End-User Traits)

  • Purpose - Lettuce (Lactuca sativ L.) is one of the economically important vegetable crops, which worldwide market value is over 100 billion U.S. dollar. In Korea, about 89.7 kilo ton of lettuce was produced in 3400ha in 2016, recoded as No. 1 vegetable crop in domestic green house production. However, recently, domestic lettuce production and cultivation areas are all getting decreased. Thus, novel approaches are needed to be implemented to revive the production. Research design, data and methodology - In this review paper, we first prioritized the end-user traits which are imperative to positively stimulate the domestic lettuce market and discussed relevant genomics strategies. Especially, we assessed a possibility whether school meal program would be a potential niche market. Results - The genomics technologies, which become widely applied in the crop biotechnology since 2008 when next generation sequencing method was developed, may be a good solution in the crop improvement, efficiently gathering valuable information of agriculturally useful traits. Significantly, in lettuce, the high quality whole genome sequence, based on Lactuca sativa cv. Salinas, is publically available and this genomics platform, thus, would be implemented in lettuce breeding program to innovate relevant end-user traits both for the farmers and customers, including the disease resistance to the Fusarium wilt, productivity under hot weather conditions, various nutritional qualities and so forth. These improvements will boost domestic lettuce industries in the near future. Conclusions - Due to the nutritional distinctions comparing to the western style lettuces, domestic leaf lettuces could be one of the important vegetables in the school meal programs. To make it happen, we would better devise diverse recipes to make a salad with it, instead of only using as a wrap vegetable. Meanwhile, novel lettuce varieties need to be developed, which are favorable to the students and also easy to be handled with while processing. Overall, to achieve international competence in the lettuce industries, we need to create elite lettuce varieties that satisfies domestic farmers as well as customers, suitable to various niche markets, such as school meal program. Thus, efficient breeding programs using genomics approaches should be established in advance and careful monitoring on the preference of the related customers for a niche market be continued persistently.

북미지역에 소장된 내한 의료선교사 편지 기록의 현황과 디지털 인문학적 활용 가능성 (Letters by Medical Missionaries to Korea: Exploring Digital Humanities Approaches)

  • 1884년 한국에 온 최초의 의료선교사 Horace Allen이 우리나라 최초의 서양식 병원인 제중원을 세운 뒤에 John Heron, Oliver Avison 등 외국인 의사들이 선교를 목적으로 차례로 입국하였다. 이들은 병원과 의과대학을 설립하고 진료와 교육활동을 통하여 근대의학을 보급하고 발전시켰다. 또한 체류기간동안 파송기관과 교회에 공적 기록물을 작성하여 보고하였고 동료, 후원자, 그리고 가족들에게는 개인적인 기록물을 남겼다. 개화기 이후 내한선교사들의 기록, 즉 보고서, 기행문, 편지, 일기, 사진, 구술자료 등은 우리나라 근대사 연구에 필수적인 사료이다. 특히 일기나 기행문이 자세한 기록이기는 하지만, 일방적인 기록이기 때문에 과장되거나 불확실한 경우가 있는 것에 비해 편지는 수신자와 발신자 사이의 기록이기 때문에 사실 확인이 가능하고 회고록처럼 후일의 상황변동에 따라 수정하거나 변개할 수 없다. 그러나 이러한 학술적 가치에도 불구하고 내한 의료선교사들의 1차적인 기록인 편지를 보다 포괄적으로 발굴하고 이를 체계적으로 정리하는 일은 본격적으로 이루어지지 않았다. 이 연구는 북미지역 29개 기관에 소장된 49개의 기록물 컬렉션을 조사하고 분석한 것이다. 또한 이들의 자료적 가치를 살피고 이를 바탕으로 한 디지털 인문학적 활용 방안을 모색하여 향후 근대사 연구에 활용하고자 하였다.

인체(人體)의 일주리듬에 따른 변화(變化)와 건강법(健康法)에 관한 연구(硏究) (Study on maintaining healthy body and changes of human body by circadian rhythm)

  • Human being can't live without nature, then the changes of nature affect human body. It means that human body has corresponding changes to the KI(vital energy) of nature. There is a stream of changes in human body which circulate mysteriously and punctually by the laws of nature. If this stream of changes fits into human's life style, it would be most effective. It has a certain mode continuously. So if a person has a habit fitting into it, he will get the healthiest body. Then the researcher tries to explain the changes in human body by the time, mainly focused on within 24 hours. it is showing not only the oriental view, but also the western's. The researcher can find the coincidence as followings. At In-Si(3-5 am), the body function and the body temperature get to the bottom, therefore it's good for him to wake up and to run the vital energy. At Sa-Si(9-11 am), the patience on pain anxiety and the psychic concentration get to the top, he'd better start the work. At O-Si(11am-1pm), the heart energy has a vital move, then the blood concentration of Hb(hemoglobin) gets to the top. At Mi-Si(1-3 pm), the muscle strength, the squeeze, and the breathing rate increase. The reflex nerve sensitivity gets to the top. Creativity, observation, and working efficiency go high, so it's time to work hard. At Hae-Si(9pm-1am), the body function falls, sleeping is needed. At Chuck-Si(1-3 am), the cell spontaneity gets to the top, immune lymphocyte moves actively, and the blood concentration of growth hormone gets to the top. These are liver's work. In west, there has been active studies on how to reduce the side effect by using a person's bio-rhythm based on the 'time treatment', and how to reorganize the bio-rhythm by using the machine and the age resistance based on the 'bio-watch'. Though the 'time treatment' means something, the artificial resistance on bio-rhythm seems to give bad effects to human body. If a person lives by regimen of oriental medicine, he will maintain the healthiest body. Regimen is that human body follows the laws of nature, and moves its mysterious, Punctual and periodical changes.
