  • The purpose of the study was to examine the economic well-being of households whose heads were retired in 1989 utilizing the combined income and net worth measyre of economic well-being which was adjusted for households size and composition. The data came from the 1989 Survey of Consumer Finances. The results showed that (1) the economic well-being of retired households was 87% of the average economic well-being of total households in the United States (2) there were considerable differences in the economic well-being among retired households and (3)race, sex, age of head had significant direct and/or indirect effects on the economic well-being of retired households. Education and income of longest job were significant intervening variables whereas the duration of longest job was not. On the basis of the results implications for public policy and future research were made.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze relationships between mother's psychological controls, family strengths, and psychological well-beings as perceived by children. In total, 529 6th graders from Seoul and Buchon participated in the study, Results were as follows: Firstly, gender differences were observed in the awareness of psychological well-beings but not in perception of mother's psychological controls and family strengths. Secondly, the children's awareness of mother's psychological controls and family strengths were correlated with their psychological well-beings the more children were aware of their mother's psychological controls, the less likely they were to be aware of their family strengths and psychological well beings. Finally, children's awareness of family strengths had remarkable influence on their psychological well-being.

  • Purpose: This study was to analysis the effect of spiritual nursing care on meaning of life and spiritual well-being of terminal cancer older adult patients. Method: The study was a one group pre-posttest design. Data collection and intervention were performed from May 10 to December 20, 2007. The participants were 28 older adults in Jeonju city. Data was analyzed with paired t-test and Pearson correlation coefficient using the SPSS/WIN 12.0 program. Result: Meaning of life, spiritual well-being, religious well-being and existential well-being scores were significantly higher than before spiritual nursing care (all p<.001). Meaning of life and the spiritual well-being were significantly correlated before and after spiritual nursing care, but it was not highly correlated after than before the spiritual nursing care. Conclusion: The study verified spiritual nursing care the improvement of the meaning of life and spiritual well-being for the terminal cancer older adult patients.

  • Time-resolved photoluminescence from InGaN/GaN multi-quantum well structures was investigated for two different shapes of square- and trapezoidal wells grown by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition. To compare to the conventional square well structure with a radiative recombination lifetime of 0.170 nsec, the large value of lifetime of 0.540 nsec from trapezoidal well were found at room temperature. This value is similar to the value for GaN host material indicating no confinement effect of quantum well. Furthermore, the high resolution transmission electron microscopy image provides the In clustering effect in the trapezoidal well structure.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between spiritual well-being and spiritual nursing intervention among nurses. Method: Participants (N=171) were recruited from September to November 2007. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression. Results: The score of spiritual well-being of nurses was 2.70 out of a total score of 4 and that of spiritual nursing care was 2.31 out of a total score of 4. There was a significantly positive relationship between spiritual well-being and spiritual nursing care (r=0.281, p<0.001). Spiritual well-being and clinical career explained 12.1% of the variance in spiritual nursing care of nurses. Conclusion: Spiritual well-being has the most important influence on spiritual nursing intervention of nurses. The findings suggest that it is needed to develop effective programs to improve spiritual well-being of nurses. More studies are required to identify other predictors of spiritual nursing intervention.

  • Purpose: To investigate the impact of psychological well-being on psycho-social in the elderly and middle aged Adults. Methods: A sample of the 209 elderly and 181 middle aged adults. Data analysis was done by pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression. Results: First, there were significant differences between the groups in gender, religion, education, marital status, occupation and family coresidence in homogeneity tests. Second, psychological well-being, hope, self-esteem, depression and life satisfaction were significantly correlated each other in the both groups. Third, there were significant differences in psychological well-being, hope, self-esteem and depression between two groups. For middle aged adults self-esteem was influencing most in psychologic well-being while hope affected most for the elderly. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it is important to improve psychological well-being to prepare successful elderly life.

  • This study examined well-being as a mediator between self-discrepancy and dropout intention of junior college Student. 270 students in Busan answered the questionnaire about self-discrepancy, well-being, dropout intention. Structural equation modeling indicated that there were the complete mediating effect of well-being in the relationship between self-discrepancy and dropout intention. It indicated discrepancy between individuals' representation of their actual self(their actual self-state) and their representation of individual's hopes and aspirations(their ideal self-guide) affects junior college students' dropout intention, and well-being mediate process of self-discrepancy leading to dropout intention. This conclusion provide the significant implications that help preparing psychosocial intervention strategy for junior college students to decrease dropout intention and intervention strategy to enhance their well-being.

  • We characterize and analyze silicon avalanche photodetectors (APDs) fabricated with standard complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technology. Current characteristics, responsivity, avalanche gain, and photodetection bandwidth of CMOS-APDs based on two types of PN junctions, N-well/P-substrate and $P^+$/N-well junctions, are compared and analyzed. It is demonstrated that the CMOS-APD using the $P^+$/N-well junction has higher responsivity as well as higher photodetection bandwidth than N-well/P-substrate. In addition, the important factors influencing CMOS-APD performance are clarified from this investigation.
