Investigation of Job satisfaction, Organizational commitment and Factors of continuing work life for Nano-convergence employees

  • In this paper, we analyzed the relationship between employment stability, wage level, welfare system, working condition, job satisfaction and organizational commitment in order to find out ways to develop and competitiveness of the nano-convergence industries. Through this study, we conducted the possibility of deriving organizational commitment by job satisfaction which is given through employment stability, wage level, welfare system, and working condition for continuing their work life. In order to find relationships between each concepts, we used a multiple regression analysis with job satisfaction and commitment as dependent variable and employment stability, wage level, welfare system, and working condition as independent variables. Through this study, it was expected to increase the organizational commitment through the job satisfaction of the employees if a changing method of employees management is centered on some tasks suggested for the sound working condition and efficient utilization policies.

Perception on Housing Welfare of Social Welfare Practitioners (주거복지에 대한 사회복지업무 종사자의 의식조사 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify perception on housing welfare of social welfare practitioners. Specific research interest was focused on the area of housing welfare services and necessity, problems when execute housing welfare services, and activating strategy of housing welfare. For the research purpose, questionnaires were distributed to 537 people who work in the field of social welfare including social welfare officials in local government authorities and social workers at community welfare centers nationwide by mail and e-mail and 405 questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS 15.0 program. Respondents thought that the supply of public rental housing was the most important service to promote housing welfare. They also indicated the most serious problem was the lack of budget and housing welfare services and programs. As main reasons of local government's passive attitude toward housing welfare services and programs, respondents mentioned low interest level of housing welfare and lack of housing welfare education. Most of the respondents agreed the necessity of introducing the curricula related to housing welfare and expected to spread interest toward housing welfare in the field of social welfare.

A Study on Work and Fanmily Life of Married Female Workers and Family-Welfare Policy Implications (대구지역 저소득층 기혼여성의 일과 가족생활 실태파악 및 가족복지 대책수립에 관한연구)

  • This study examines work and family life of married women and policy implications of the low class in Daegu area. Data were gathered from the use of face-to-face interview method from a sample of 564 married working women. And the political printed materials of family welfare policy(1988~1993) were analyzed. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows: Most of the respondents remain unstable in their working situation with the double burden of a paid work and housework. Thus it is necessary for the government to implement family policies for married working women such as establichment of various child care centers study room for adolescence councelling center job-training center and dissemination of egalitarian sex-role attitudes. Finally it is suggested that the formulation of family net works be promoted for the effective utilization of local resources and family welfare programs.

Elderly Welfare System and Role of Dental Hygienists in Korea and Japan

  • In accordance with the aged society, oral health care for the elderly is considered important to maintain general health. Although the role of dental hygienists is essential for proper health management of the oral cavity, research on the care system for the elderly people's oral health and on the role of dental hygienists in the field of elderly welfare is still insufficient. Hence, the aim of this study is to investigate the status of Korean elderly welfare system and dental hygienists by comparing them with those in Japan, a precedent of aged society. First, we compared and investigated the Japanese long-term insurance system, which provides an institutional basis for a long-term care system for the elderly in Korea. Second, the elderly welfare law and care system, focusing on oral care, were examined. Lastly, in elderly care, we analyzed the distinctions between Korea and Japan regarding dental hygienists' role and scope of work. Taken together, as a precedent of aged society, Japan has shown well-specialized and systematic welfare for the elderly compared with Korea. With the development of the welfare system for the elderly in Japan, the role and the work scope of dental hygienists have been expanded to improve quality of life of elderly people, as a key professional for elderly oral care. Therefore, we should perceive the need for improvement of long-term care insurance and the expansion of dental hygienists' work in Korea. In conclusion, these results could be used as basic data for improving the elderly welfare system and developing dental hygienists in Korea.

A Study of Family Healthy Difference according to Married Employees' Work-Family Conflict (기혼 남녀의 일-가족 갈등에 따른 가족건강성의 차이에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the investigator examined employees' work-family conflict, and analyzed its relationship with family health, to clarify the two-way influence of work-family and to verify the influence of a family friendship system based upon work-family compatibility and a healthy family. Data from 379 married female and male corporate employees were collected. Collected data were analyzed on the SPSS WIN 12.0 program. Study findings are as follows: First - For the individual, in domain variables of work-family conflict according to socio-demographic characteristics, gender has a significant influence upon strain-based conflict, family interference with work, and time-based conflict. Second - Work domain variables such as occupation, career, employment type, and working hours have a significant influence upon work interference with family, while career, and a working couple have a significant influence upon family interference with work. Finally - average housework hours and children have a significant influence upon work interference with family, whereas the length of a marriage, the average housework hours, and a housework helper have a significant influence upon family interference with work.

  • Over the past decades, changes in economic, social and demographic structures have pushed the growth of care employment across countries around the world. Women's increasing labor force participation has squeezed the time so far available for unpaid caregiving and led to increased demand for paid care services. Population aging and increasing needs for pre-school education also have contributed to the growth in demand for care services. As a result, care workers now comprise a large and growing segment of the labor force in many countries including South Korea. But, there are not a few problems. Especially, we take underpaid and undervalued care work very seriously. care work has been generally characterized as underpaid and undervalued compared with other work in developed and developing countries alike. This study tries to show current situation of care work and estimate the wage penalty for doing care work in Korea using official employment micro-data and applying propensity matching analysis. Especially, recent expansion of social service is a big step up for Korean Welfare State. But, there are not a few problems. Especially, we take underpaid and undervalued care work very seriously. A study of the Patriarchal Characteristics of Welfare States (복지국가의 가부장적 특성에 대한 연구)

  • This paper attempts to analyse the patriarchal characteristics of welfare states. Increasingly, debates on welfare states are explicitly focusing on the relationships between state, market and family. How these relationships are structured forms the core parts of the particular welfare states, that is they give shape to different welfare state regimes. Although welfare states have developed incresingly, there are some problems that sustain these states asymmetrical, unequal, even sexist. In this paper, I want to make these problems visible by the terms of gender division of labour, the model of male work and the changing characteristics of patriarchy. Firstly, from the feminist perspective, we can point the fact that the welfare states are structured by gender. Welfare states take it for granted that our socities are based on the assumption of gender division of labour, what is called male breadwinner/ female dependent. And the state takes this gendered family as the stereotype in our societies. Secondly, it is not sufficient condition for men and women to perform satisfactory life of work and family that welfare states provide childcare center on an extensive scale. This is because that our societies are runned by "the model of male work". Thirdly, we can find that the characteristics of patriarchy of welfare state are changing. These changes can be explained from the 'private patriarchy' to the 'public patriarchy', in other words, from the women's dependence to individual man to the dependence to the state/ public sectors. And also under these changes, we can find the potent possibilities for women to take economic activities and independent self-supports.

Married Working Women's Work-Family Conflict and Facilitation on Depression (맞벌이 여성의 일가족 경험이 우울에 미치는 영향 : 일가족갈등과 일가족촉진의 통합적 접근)

  • This study set out to investigate relationship between work-family conflict and depression and especially moderating effect of work-family facilitation. Data came from Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Family 2012. The final sample size was 2,716 married employed women in South Korea. Analysis methods were multiple regression analysis. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, married employed women showed more higher level of work-family facilitation than work-family conflict and work-family facilitation correlated with work-family conflict positively. Second, work-family conflict affected significantly depression. Third, work-family facilitation moderated significantly the relationship between work-family conflict and depression. The limitations and implications of the findings from this study were discussed with respect to further studies.

Factors Affecting Emotional and Social Self-Sufficiency of Welfare-to-Work Recipients: Focused Social Adaptation Program (자활사업 참여자의 정서적 자활과 사회적 자활의 영향요인 연구: 사회적응프로그램 참여자를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to identify effects of welfare-to-work programs that helped welfare recipients promote emotional and social self-sufficiency, focused on social adaptation program for the hardest-to-employ poor with psychological and social work barriers. This study relied on data from mandatory social adaptation program participants among community self-sufficiency organizations in nationwide from December 2010 to January 2011 in South Korea. Hierarchical regression was used to analyze for this study. As a result, among participants, there were slightly than moderate level on emotional and social self-Sufficiency effects. The satisfaction of education program had positive effect both emotional and social self-sufficiency whereas that of health service only had positive effect on social self-sufficiency. Also, these emotional and social self-sufficiency effects differed between the number of needy family in household, type of organization and degree of satisfaction of life. This study suggests that discussion of implications for the development of welfare-to-work program and intervention that target psychological, emotional and social needs for recipients with work barriers.

A Qualitative Case Study on the Work and Welfare Service Experiences of People with Developmental Disabilities in the Occupational Rehabilitation Facilities (장애인근로사업장 발달장애인의 일과 복지서비스경험에 관한 질적 사례연구)

  • This study is a qualitative case study whose aims were to investigate the work and welfare service experiences of people with developmental disabilities in the occupational rehabilitation facilities. For the purpose of this study selected as its participants 8 people with developmental disabilities whom has been worked currently in the occupational rehabilitation facilities. The profound interviews of those participants were performed and the data on the occupational rehabilitation facilities were analysed. Also, the study analysed the data in a way of investigating the respondents' statements regarding their work and welfare in the occupational rehabilitation facilities. The results of this analysis, 10 categories, 22 sub-categories and 5 key topics of the respondent's experiences were drawn out. The 5 key topics of the people with developmental disabilities in the occupational rehabilitation facilities were 'pride of the economic stability', 'happiness of work itself', 'a sense of accomplishment of the regular worker', 'recognition and exchange of the coworker and superior', 'expectation of the welfare service and the expansion of the participation in the occupational rehabilitation facilities were 'pride of the economic stability', 'happiness of work itself', 'a sense of accomplishment of the regular worker', 'recognition and exchange of the coworker and superior', 'expectation of the welfare service and the expansion of the participation in the occupational rehabilitation facilities'. Based on the results, implications for the work and welfare service of people with developmental disabilities in the occupational rehabilitation facilities were provided.
