EDXRF에 의한 용접흄 중의 중금속의 비파괴 정량 (The Non-Destructive Determination of Heavy Metals in Welding Fume by EDXRF)

  • The EDXRF(Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer) technique was applied to the determination of heavy metals in welding fume. The EDXRF method designed in this study was a non-destructive analysis method. Samples were analyzed directly by EDXRF without any pre-treatment such as digestion and dilution. The samples used to evaluate this method were laboratory samples exposed in a chamber connected with a welding fume generator. The samples were first analyzed using a non-destructive EDXRF method. The samples subsequently were analyzed using AAS method to verify accuray of the EDXRF method. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the possibility of the non-destructive analysis of heavy metals in welding fume by EDXRF. The results of this study were as follow: 1.When the samples were collected under the open-face sampling condition, a surface distribution of welding fume particles on sample filters was uniform, which made non-destructive analysis possible. 2. The method was statistically evaluated according to the NIOSH(National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) and HSE(Health and Safety Executive) method. 3. The overall precision of the EDXRF method Was calculated at 3.45 % for Cr, 2.57 % for Fe and 3.78 % for Mn as relative standard deviation(RSD), respectively. The limits of detection were calculated at $0.46{\mu}g$/sample for Cr, $0.20{\mu}g$/sample for Fe and $1.14{\mu}g$/sample for Mn, respectively. 4. A comparison between the results of Cr, Fe, Mn analyzed by EDXRF and AAS was made in order to assess the accuracy of EDXRF method. The correlation coefficient between the results of EDXRF and AAS was 0.9985 for Cr, 0.9995 for Fe and 0.9982 for Mn, respectively. The overall uncertainty was determined to be ${\pm}12.31%$, 8.64 % and 11.91 % for Cr, Fe and Mn, respectively. In conclusion, this study showed that Cr, Fe, Mn in welding fume were successfully analyzed by the EDXRF without any sample pre-treatment such as digestion and dilution and a good correlation between the results of EDXRF and AAS was obtained. It was thus possible to use the EDXRF technique as an analysis method of working environment samples. The EDXRF method was an efficient method in a non-destructive analysis of heavy metals in welding fume.

  • The bending process for the curved tube can be developed by the hot metal extrusion machine with the multiple punches moving in the different velocity. The bending phenomenon has been studied to be occurred by the different of velocity at the die extrusion. The difference of velocity at the die exit section can be obtained by the different velocity of billets through the multi-hole container and by the welding of billets inside the porthole die chamber. The multiple billets are moving differently by the multiple extrusion punches controlled by PLC with the servo mechanism units. The results of the experiments show that the curved tube can be bended by the extrusion process and that the defects such as the distortion of section and the thickness change of thick tube, tile folding and wrinkling of thin tube can not be shown after the bending processing by the extrusion bending machine.

  • Adhesion phenomenon is more significant for smaller objects, because adhesional force is proportional to size of the objects while gravitational force is proportional to the third power of it. For the purpose of microassembly, theoretical understanding is required for the Adhesion phenomenon. Authors have developed a force measurement system in an ultra-high vacuum chamber of Auger electron spectroscopy. The force between arbitrary combination of materials can be measured at a pressure less than 100 nPa after and before Ar ion sputtering and chemical analysis for several atomic layers of the surface. The results are successfully interpreted with a theory of contact mechanics. Since surface energy is quite important in the interpretation, electronic theory is used to evaluate the surface energy. In the manipulation of small objects, the adhesional force is always attractive. Repulsive force is essential for the manipulation. It can be generated by Coulomb interaction. The voltage required for detachment is theoretically analyzed and the effect of boundary conditions on the detachment is obtained. The possibility and limitations of micro-manipulation using both the adhesion phenomenon and Coulomb interaction are theoretically clarified. Its applicability to nano-technology is found to be expected.

멀티빌렛을 사용한 압출굽힘가공의 성형 해석 (Forming Simulation of Extru-Bending Process Using Multi-Billets)

  • The bending phenomenon has been known to be occurred by the difference of velocity at the die exit. The difference of velocity at the die exit section can be obtained by the different velocity of billets inside die chamber after passing the multi-hole container. The curvature can be controlled by the two variables, the one of them is the different velocity of billets through the multi-hole container, the other is the difference of hole diameter. The bending phenomenon during extruding using four billets can be obtained by the difference of hole diameters in the multi-hole container or by the difference of relative velocity of billet inserted in the container. As results of DEFORM-3D analysis, it can be shown that bending can be obtained during extruding by the difference of relative velocity of two billets or by the difference of hole diameter, and the amount of curvature is increased by the difference of velocity and diameter. According to the shape of products, the curvature of rectangular section is bigger than the curvature of regular square section. And, it is estimated that, because the stress on the welding line is much higher than yield stress of material, the bonding of four billets can be obtained.

계장화 압입시험기를 이용한 EH36 후판 용접재의 저온특성 평가 (Evaluation of Low Temperature Properties in EH36 Thick Steel Plate Welded Material by Instrumented Indentation Equipment)

  • In this study, EH36 is thick steel plate, which welded by auto $CO_2$ gas welding machine, has been applied on offshore filed. The specimen was examined by indentation tester and it was measured for fracture toughness at $18^{\circ}C$, $0^{\circ}C$, $-20^{\circ}C$ and $-45^{\circ}C$ by low temperature chamber, respectively. The absorbed energy was got on same temperature by Charpy impact tester. The weld surface was observed for watch of changed crystalline structure by optical microscope, and fracture surface of impact test specimen were observed by scanning electron microscope(SEM).

용접재료 별 주강 피스톤 크라운 용접부위의 부식 특성에 대한 평가 (Evaluation of the Corrosion Property on the Welded Zone of Cast Steel Piston Crown with Types of Electrode)

  • Wear and corrosion of the engine parts surrounded with combustion chamber is more serious compared to the other parts of the engine because temperature of the exhaust gas in a combustion chamber is getting higher and higher with increasing of using the heavy oil of low quality. Therefore, an optimum repair weldment as well as an available choice of the base metal for these parts are very important to prolong their lifetime in a economical point of view. It reported that there was an experimental result for repair weldment on the forged steel which would be generally used with piston crown material, however, it is considered that there is no study for the repair weldment on the cast steel of piston crown material. In this study, four types of electrodes such as 1.25Cr-0.5Mo, 0.5Mo Inconel 625 and 718 were welded with SMAW and GTAW methods on the cast steel which would be generally used with piston crown material. And the corrosion properties of weld metal, heat affected zone and base metal were investigated using electrochemical methods such as measurement of corrosion potential, anodic polarization curves, cyclic voltammogram and impedance etc. in 35% $H_2SO_4$ solution. In the cases of Inconel 625, 718, the weld metals and base metals exhibited the best and worst corrosion resistance respectively, however, 1.25Cr-0.5Mo and 0.5Mo indicated that corrosion resistance of the base metal was better than the weld metal. And the weld metal welded with electrodes of Inconel 625 revealed the best corrosion resistance among the electrodes, and Inconel 718 followed the Inconel 625. Hardness relatively also indicated higher value in the weld metal compared to heat affected zone and base metal. In particular, Inconel 718 indicated the highest value of hardness compared to other electrodes in the heat affected zone.

용접재료별 단강 피스톤 크라운 용접부위의 부식특성에 대한 평가 (Evaluation of the corrosion property on the welded zone of forged steel piston crown with types of filler metals)

  • 최근 수년 동안 유가의 현저한 상승으로 인하여 상선의 디젤 기관은 저질 중유를 주로 사용하게 되었다. 따라서 저질 중유의 사용 증가에 따른 디젤 기관의 연소실 배기가스 온도는 점차 상승하여 가혹한 부식 환경에 직면하게 되었다. 그 결과 연소실 주변의 모든 기관 부품들의 부식과 마모는 다른 기관 부품들에 비해서 심각하다. 그러므로 이들 부품들의 적절한 덧살 용접은 수명 연장을 위하여 경제적인 측면에서 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 피스톤 크라운 재질로 통상 사용되는 단강에 4종류의 용접재료로 SMAW와 GTAW로 용접하였다. 실험은 모재, 열영향부 및 용접금속의 부식 특성을 35% 황산용액에서 부식전위, 양극분극 곡선, 사이클릭볼타모그램 및 임피던스 등의 전기화학적인 방법으로 하여 고찰하였다. Inconel 625, 718 용접재료의 경우 용접금속의 내식성이 가장 우수하였고, 모재의 내식성이 가장 좋지 않았으며, 반면에 1.25Cr-0.5Mo와 0.5Mo는 모재가 용접금속에 비해서 더 좋은 내식성을 나타내었다. 또한, 용접금속 중 Inconel 625가 가장 내식성이 우수하였으며, 그 다음으로 Inconel 718 용접재료로 나타났다. 경도 역시 용접금속이 상대적으로 모재, 열영향부에 비해서 높은 값을 나타내었다. 특히 Inconel 718 용접재료의 경우 다른 용접재료에 비하여 가장 높은 경도값을 나타내었다.

구미 남부 금오산 칼데라의 함몰 유형과 과정 (Collapse Type and Processes of the Geumosan Caldera in the Southern Gumi, Korea)

  • 구미분지는 영남육괴의 남동 중간부에 있으며 하부로부터 백악기의 구미층, 안산암질암류(영암산응회암, 부상리안산암), 유문암질암류(오봉리응회암, 도선굴유문암, 금오산응회암)와 관입암류(환상암맥, 기타 암맥)로 구성된다. 금오산응회암은 거의 대부분 회류응회암으로 구성되며 환상암맥과 함께 금오산 칼데라와 연관되어있다. 칼데라는 직경이 3.5 × 5.6 km이고 환상암맥과 단층으로 둘러싸인다. 칼데라 내부 화산암층은 유상 및 용결엽리가 대체로 칼데라 연변부에서 안쪽으로 경사되는 하향자루 구조를 나타낸다. 칼데라 블록은 북변부에서 350m, 남변부에서 600m 내려앉은 비대칭 침하를 나타낸다. 이 자료들에 의하면 금오산 칼데라는 하나의 칼데라윤회를 암시하는 기하학적으로 비대칭 피스톤 침하 칼데라로 분류된다. 이 칼데라는 챔버로부터 마그마의 대규모 분출에 뒤따라 외측경사 환상단층으로 경계되는 칼데라 블록의 피스톤 침하를 지시한다. 칼데라 블록에서 하향자루는 경계 단층의 완전한 발달과 동시에 초기 침하동안 하향자루운동을 의미한다. 이 운동에 의한 벌어진 환상열극에는 침하에 따른 마그마 과압으로 인해 마그마가 주입되어 환상암맥을 형성하였다.

천장 개방형 RT 사용시설의 방사선 안전성 평가 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation of Radiation Safety in Opened-Ceiling-Facilities for Radiography Testing)

  • 산업체에서 용접구조물을 파괴 없이 품질을 검증하는 방사선투과검사는 압도적으로 많이 이용되지만, 방사선을 이용함에 따라 많은 안전사항이 요구된다. 방사선투과검사 작업종사자는 검사부재의 이동유무에 따라 감마선조사기인 운반용기에 내장된 Iridium-192 방사선원을 사용시설 내 혹은 사용시설 외의 장소에서 이동시켜 작업을 수행 한다. 일반적인 사용시설은 두꺼운 콘크리트로 외부와 방사선을 전면 차단한 시설이지만, 검사부재의 취급이 용이하지 않은 등의 사유로 천장이 개방된 사용시설이 있다. 일반적인 사용시설은 외부가 모두 차단되어 이론적인 선량 평가 방법을 통하여 건설하여도 무방하지만, 천장이 개방된 경우 스카이샤인효과로 인하여 단순 이론적인 계산 방법으로 방사선 안전성을 평가하는 것은 적합하지 않다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 실제 현장에서 해당 시설의 방사선 안전성을 이온챔버형 방사선측정기와 누적선량계형인 OSLD를 통하여 평가하고, 실제 평가 환경을 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션 코드인 플루카를 이용하여 모델링 및 평가를 하였다. 해당 시설에서 조사방향에 따라 시설 경계의 방사선량은 규제기관에서 정하는 기준을 만족하기 어려웠고, 추가의 방법을 통하여 방사선 안전성을 확보할 수 있었다. 또한, Iridium-192 선원을 이용한 시뮬레이션 결과가 실제 측정값과 유효한 결과임을 확인할 수 있었다.

수압을 받는 원통형 실린더의 초기부정을 고려한 좌굴해석 (Buckling Analysis of Circular Cylinders with Initial Imperfection Subjected to Hydrostatic Pressure)

  • Pressure hulls of submerged structures are generally designed as circular cylinders, spheres or cones with form of axisymmetric shell of revolution to withstand the high external pressure of deep ocean. The compressive buckling (implosion) due to hydrostatic pressure is the main concern of structural design of pressure hull and many design codes are provided for it. It is well-known that the buckling behavior of thin shell of revolution is very sensitive to the initial geometric imperfections introduced during the construction process of cutting and welding. Hence, the theoretical solutions for thin shells with perfect geometry often provide much higher buckling pressures than the measured data in tests or real structures and more precise structural analysis techniques are prerequisite for the safe design of pressure hulls. So this paper dealt with various buckling pressure estimation techniques for unstiffened circular cylinder under hydrostatic pressure conditions. The empirical design equations, eigenvalue analysis technique for critical pressure and collapse behaviors of thin cylindrical shells by the incremental nonlinear FE analysis were applied. Finally all the obtained results were compared with those of the pressure chamber test for the aluminium models. The pros and cons of each techniques were discussed and the most rational approach for the implosion of circular cylinder was recommended.
