The welding automation in ship manufacturing process, especially in the sub-assembly line is considered to be a difficult job because the welding part is too huge, various, unstructured for a welding robot to weld fully automatically. The weld orocess at the sub-assembly line for ship manufacturing is to joint the various stiffener on the base panel. In order to realize automatic robot weld in sub-assembly line, robot have to equip with the sensing system to recognize the position of the parts. In this research,we developed a vision system to detect the position of base panle for sub-assembly line is shipbuilding process. The vision system is composed of one CCD camera attached on the base of robot, 2-500W halogen lamps for active illumination. In the image processing algorithm, the base panel is represented by two set of lines located at its two corner through hough transform. However, the various noise line caused by highlight, scratches and stiffener, roller in conveyor, and so on is contained in the captured image, this nosie can be eliminated by region segmentation and threshold in hough transform domain. The matching process to recognize the position of weld panel is executed by finding patterns in the Hough transformed domain. The sets of experiments performed in the sub-assembly line show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
In constructing all kinds of equipment and steel structures, discontinuous areas such as weld defects formed in a welded structure tend to generate cracks that will result in damage. In this study, ATOS high-strength steel welding becomes important in butt welding where the tensile strength of the steel is over 80kg/$mm^2$. Structural discontinuities such as joints are more susceptible cracks in part due to their repeated loading and fatigue crack growth. The quality of parts produced depend or the shielded amounts of steel and on the skill of the welders in making strong welds. It is true that there are many factors that can be used to generate a lot of research in this area. However geometry and load conditions due to the combined effects with many issues could be solved through this study. Butt welding material at a plate thickness of 12t in ATOS 80 high-strength steel with a 4 pass, 20l/min, 24V/200A welder is good at making specimens with the quality shown in radiographic testing.
The demand for the eco-friendly vehicles is skyrocketing because of the increasing $CO_2$ emissions and global warming. In the industrial field, the battery process, a core part of an eco-friendly vehicle, is drawing increased attention; its weight lightening as well as high energy density are becoming increasingly important. In this study, pure Ni plates that were used as the battery pole plate were welded using the laser. The lab joint welding was conducted on ten pure Ni plates at a laser power of 1900 W and a feed speed of 2.8-3.4 m/min. As observed in the experiment, a faster feed speed reduced the bead width, but the laser did not penetrate all ten specimen plates. In addition, pores were trapped when protective gas was used, but they were not trapped when the welding was conducted in atmospheric condition.
The latest trends of vehicle technology development are fuel efficiency improvement, body designs declining air resistance and lightweight of materials. Especially, as lightened weight of materials makes engine efficient so that vehicles keep the best performance, it is the best way to protect the environment and reduce fuel consumption. In this study, we conducted laser welding by using 3-dimension remote scanner that is 5J32 aluminium alloy. Furthermore, conduction experiment that was 3 times repeated for changing factors such as observing angle, laser power and welding speed. we observed exterior and cross section of weled part and tensile strength. When increasing laser power and decreasing laser speed, tensile strength increased. In order to evaluate factors that affect tensile strength qualitatively we conducted ANOVA. We assumed that the factors are observing angle, laser power and welding speed. Then we found that laser power and laser speed affect tensile strength. We conducted evaluation of weldability of aluminium alloy by above ways.
It was attempted to improve the wear resistance of Al alloy under the load condition by making a formation of the thick surface hardening alloy layers. The thick surface hardening alloy layers were formed on 6061 Al alloys overlayed by MIG welding process with WC-12%Co powder addition. Effects of the dispersion of WE-12%Co powders on hardness and wear characteristics of alloys were investigated. The following results were obtained. Most of WE-12%Co powders are dispersed nearly uniform as unmelted particles in the matrix alloy. A part of WC-12%Co powders are melted in the molten pool, and during solidification {TEX}$Al_{9}Co_{2}${/TEX} appeared. With increasing addition of WC-12%Co powders, the hardness and specific wear resistance of the overlay weld alloys increased and reached Hv450 at WC-12%Co powder addition rate of 54g/min. It is considered that excellent wear resistance of the overlayed alloys was due to dispersed WC-12%Co powders and increased 10 times at WC-12%Co powder addition rate of 54 g/min than that of the WC-free overlaying layers.
The horn is a key part of the ultrasonic welder. As the shape, mass and material of a horn have effects on the resonant frequency and the vibration mode in ultrasonic welding, a horn has to be designed and manufactured accurately. In this study, 40kHz band horn was designed and manufactured through the vibration mode and finite element analysis. A result of modal analysis showed that the natural frequency of the horn was 39,794Hz, and the frequency response by a harmonic response analysis was 39,800Hz - close to the intended frequency, 40kHz. In addition, weldability of the developed horn was estimated by welding of two Ni sheets and tensile-shear test of welded samples. It was shown the developed horn could be used in metal sheet welding.

The spatter and porosity could be occurred during$CO_2$CW laser welding of Primer- coated steel for shipbuilding. This study has suggested an alternative idea by examining of weld-defect formation mechanism. The primer-coated plate induced the spatter humping bead and porosity and these are main part of the welding defect. attributed to the powerful vaporizing pressure of primer attached on the base metal The zinc of Primer has a boiling point that is the lower temperature than melting point of steel zinc vapor will build up at the interface between the two sheets and this tends to deteriorate the quality of the weld by ejecting weld material from lap position or leaving porosity. Therefore introducing a small gap clearance in the lap position. the zinc vapor could escape through it and sound weld beads can be acquired. In conclusion, we suggested the occurred and prevented mechanism of weld defects with searching the factor.
