  • This paper describes experimental investigation on the forming limit for mash-seam welded sheets. The uniaxial tensile test was conducted to evaluate the mechanical properties of weld bead. Experimental forming limit diagrams were investigated for the different thicknesses and properties of welded sheets.

  • In this study, the forming behavior of Tailor welded HS and IF steel s-rail stamping is analyzed by experiments and simulations. According to the results, uniform strain distribution in the formed part is most important to prevent springback and wrinkle formation. For that purpose, it is most effective to distribute uniformly the contact pressure of blank and bland holder.

  • In this study, the subframe of passenger car is developed by typical analysis and carsh simulations. According this results, energy absorption and barrier froce is very important to control passenger safety and deformation shape. For that purpose, it is most effective to absorb energy more tailor welded blanks(TWB) subframe than non-TWB. The subframe with TWB is simulated, in which reduced stamping parts, weight reduction and cost down.

  • In this paper, static and fatigue load tests for the specimens, components and carbody were carried out to investigate the strength of welded joints in aluminum rolling stock. Tensile load test results showed that the static strength of welded joint for heat-treated alloys is reduced significantly and fatigue strengths are scattered by the welding imperfections. Component and whole carbody fatigue test results showed agreements with the design fatigue strength standards for specimens of same joint detail. Test results revealed that full penetration welding and strict management of welding procedure are crucial for securing strength of welded joint in aluminum carbody.

  • Tailor-welded blanks are made of two or more different blanks in thickness or material. So car body with tailor-welded blanks need not reinforcement panels. However in order to make stamping tools for tailor-welded blanks, die engineers should know about the exact position of the welding line after the part is drawn. The necessity of knowledge about the position of welding line needs forming simulation methodology as a prior step in tooling. Therefor some parts of the simulation methodology are proposed and compared with the experimental results.

  • This study aims to investigate the effect of the post weld treatments on the fatigue life of T-type welded structure made by a SM50A steel material, generally used for excavators, because changes in the geometry, material and surface properties of welded regions affect the fatigue life of welded structures. T-type test specimens were prepared by the CO2 welding of rolled steel plates (SM50A steel) with a thickness of 10 mm at a welding speed of 30 cm/min and these Ttype welded specimens were further treated by UIT (Ultrasonic Impact Treatment) and/or toegrinding post welding treatment methods. In order to investigate improvements on the fatigue life of the samples. 3-point bending fatigue tests were conducted with a stress ratio of R=0.1 under a cyclic loading environment at a frequency of 5 Hz, via a hydraulic fatigue testing machine (${\pm}100\;kN$, MTS 809). The tests were performed at room temperature. The fatigue life of UIT specimens was approximately 25 times longer than that of as-welded specimens at a stress amplitude of 281 MPa, while toe-grinding specimens exhibited 4.15 times longer fatigue life. The current results could provide important guidelines to determine the proper post weld treatment methodologies of T-type welded parts for excavators with a satisfactory fatigue life although under severe operating conditions.

용접형강의 직접강도법 개발에 관한 연구 고찰 (The Development of the Direct Strength Method for Welded Steel Members)

  • 직접강도법은 NAS(2004)와 AS/NZS 4600(2005)에 의해서 냉간성형강재의 설계에 처음 채택되었다. 이 설계법은 용접형강 부재에도 효과적으로 적용이 가능하다고 판단된다. 본 논문에서는 최근 수행된 용접형강 부재의 직접강도법 개발에 대해서 살펴보고자 한다. 용접형강 압축 및 휨부재의 설계강도식은 H, C, RHS, CHS 형강, 플레이트거더 및 보강판 단면의 실험 결과에 근거하여 개발 되었다. 직접강도법과 현행 설계기준에 의해 예측된 강도의 비교 결과를 통하여 직접강도법을 적용하여 좌굴혼합이 발생하는 용접형강 기둥 및 보 부재의 압축, 휨 및 전단강도를 합리적으로 산정할 수 있는 것을 입증하였다.

  • 용접구조에 있어서 가장 위험한 단면은 용접부이며 대부분의 파괴가 용접부로부터 발생하였다. 따라서 용접부의 파괴거동을 확인하는 것은 파괴방지를 위하여 중요한 요소라 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 용접부의 파괴거동에 관한 기초적인 연구로서 용접부의 국부적인 인성분포와 다층용접의 효과 및 잔류응력제거풀림의 효과를 조사하였다. 연구에 사용된 기본소재로서는 피로이력을 갖고 있는 강재와 피로이력이 없는 강재를 선택하였다. 용접부에서 미사용강재(피로이력이 없는 강재)모재, 열영향부 용착금속의 파괴인성이 각각 차이가 있었고 용착금속은 균열저지능력으로서 파괴인성이 가장 작아서 파괴발생원이 될수 있음을 확인하였다. 특히 본연구의 대상강재인 기사용강재(피로이력을 갖고 있는 강재)는 파괴인성이 용착금속 보다 작아서 균열이 존재하는 경우 가장 취약한 단면이 될수 있다는 것을 확인하였다. 다충용접은 용접부에 결합이 존재하지 않는다면 안정개선에 효과가 있음을 확인하였고 또한 잔류응력제거 풀림은 본연구에 관한 한은 효과가 없는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

Experimental and Numerical Study on Complex Multi-planar Welded Tubular Joints in Umbrella-Type Space Trusses with Long Overhangs

  • A test rig with multi-functional purposes was specifically designed and manufactured to study the behavior of multi-planar welded tubular joints subjected to multi-planar concurrent axial loading. An experimental investigation was conducted on full-scale welded tubular joints with each consisting of one chord and eight braces under monotonic loading conditions. Two pairs or four representative specimens (two specimens for each joint type) were tested, in which each pair was reinforced with two kinds of different internal stiffeners at the intersections between the chords using welded rectangular hollow steel sections (RHSSs) and the braces using rolled circular hollow steel sections (CHSSs) and welded RHSSs. The effects of different internal stiffeners at the chord-brace intersection on the load capacity of joints under concurrent multi-planar axial compression/tension are discussed. The test results of joint strengths, failure modes, and load-stress curves are presented. Finite element analyses were performed to verify the experimental results. The study results show that the two different joint types with the internal stiffeners at the chord-brace intersection under axial compression/tension significantly increase the corresponding ultimate strength to far exceed the usual design strength. The load carrying capacity of welded tubular joints decreases with a higher degree of the manufacturing imperfection in individual braces at the tubular joints. Furthermore, the interaction effect of the concurrent axial loading applied at the welded tubular joint on member stress is apparent.

마찰교만용접 판재에 있어서 모재의 방향성이 성형성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Anisotropy on Formability in Friction Stir Welded Sheet)

  • In order to investigate the influence of anisotropy on formability and also to obtain guidelines for the stamping process design in friction stir welded TWB (tailor welded blank), the aluminum ally 6111-T4 sheet was welded with three different types of combination: RD||RD, TD||RD and TD||TD (Here, RD and TD mean the rolling direction and transverse direction, respectively) and then hemisphere dome stretching and cylindrical cup drawing tests were carried out. In addition, the numerical analysis was performed to confirm the validity of experimental results. For the numerical analysis, the non-quadratic orthotropic yield function, Yld2004-18p was utilized to represent precise anisotropic properties.
