  • A histogram equalization method have been used traditionally for the image enhancement of low quality images. This uses the transformation function, which is a cumulative density function of an input image, and it has mathematically maximum entropy. This method, however, may yield whitening artifacts. This paper proposes the weighted histogram equalization method based on histogram equalization. It has Weber-Fechner's law for a human's vision characteristics, and a dynamic range modification to solve the problem of some methods, which yield a transformation function, regardless of the input image. Finally, the proposed transformation function was calculated using the weighted average of Weber-Fechner and the histogram equalization transformation functions in a modified dynamic range. The simulation results showed that the proposed algorithm effectively enhances the contrast in terms of the subjective quality. In addition, the proposed method has similar or higher entropy than the other conventional approaches.

  • Driving maneuvers in car-following are affected not only by the factors related to road and traffic conditions, but also by factors related to drivers' cognition to them. This paper attempts to analyse drivers' car-following distance tests on road characteristics. Driving maneuvers are directly observed by video recorder sets in the vehicle. At the same time drivers are interviewed about their cognitive degree of car-following distance according to a given level of cognitive language. As a result, linguistical cognition of car-following distance is well fitted in with Weber-Fechner's law. This paper suggests a modeling method that takes into account the driver's cognition for acquiring traffic visible information on driving maneuver.

  • Fading of Chlorantine Fast Red 5B (C.I. Direct Red 81) on cotton fabric exposed to carbon are light was examined. It was observed that the dye had anomaly in CF curve slope, while normal in CFG one. Auther considered that the reason for discrepancy of the one with the other curve slope might be appeared from Weber-Fechner law, and derived following equation $F_v=[logC_0-log(C_0-C_0F_t/100)]{\times}100/(logC_0+b)$ where $F_t$; the proportion of dye faded after t hour exposure. $F_v$; the proportion of dye faded after t hour exposure, when a pattern is judged by visual method $C_0$; initial dye concentration. b; constant. also, the reason for increasing lightfastness with dye concentration was discussed on view of the above equation.

  • It is very insecure to treat a butane can for cooking out of door. The human injury from the accidents of butane cans has been getting increased 1.5 times yearly since 2003. In this context, the Institute of Gas Technology Training in Korea Gas Safety Corporation carries out explosion experiment to make trainees to take all possible measures to ensure safe management of gas in the field by fully recognizing the hazards of gas explosion accidents. This study intends to examine the influence of such explosion experiments on the trainees witnessing nearby. The GEN exposed to the active students participating in the experiment away from 25 meters from the explosion site was 57.94 dB and the GEN to the passive students not participating away from 50 meters was 51.92 dB. According to Weber-Fechner's law for the lower value than 65 dB which is the environmental standard, it is safe from the place 15 meter far from the explosion place. The environmental standard of offices is 50 dB, and it is lower than the environmental standard if the office is 65 meter far from the explosion place.

  • Online game market accounts for 56.4% of entire game industry in Korea. MMORPG games account for a great part of online game market which have 45.27%. However, most of them are wholly reliant on their subjective criteria - not general rule or standard in the planning and developing process. For this reason, they can be easily misunderstood imitation game which has no difference or creativeness from masterpiece. In this paper to solve this problem especially deals with the quantification of flow through analysis of MMORPG to propose common information or method of quantitative analysis. The method of quantitative analysis which deals with the quantification of flow through analysis of successful MMORPG verifies the effectiveness of the proposed method.
