  • To better publish geographical information on the Web, it is important to capture how Web technologies are changing. For a recent decade, Semantic Web has been developed by incorporating ontologies into the current Web, with an aim to make computers understand rather than simply display. Ontology, an explicit specification of a conceptualization, and the Semantic Web grounded on the ontology, have the potential for effective sharing and appropriate retrieval of geographical information. This paper describes a Semantic Web Service over the mobile Web that can offer pertinent tourism information according to user contexts. To do this, a tourism ontology was formalized in the PARA(Place-Attraction-Resource-Activity) ontology model by organizing tourist places, tourist attractions, tourism resources, and activities. Locational relationships between tourist places were also included in the PARA ontology model to take into account the movements of tourists on a railway network. The XML(Extensible Markup Language) Web Service in the middle tier manages the client-side request for information retrieval and the corresponding server-side response from the data provider. The PARA ontology was integrated into the XML Web Service for the concept-based discovery of tourism information. The applicability of the proposed system was tested through a simulation experiment for Tokyo tourism.

  • While the World-Wide Web offers an incredibly rich base of information, organized as a hypertext it does not provide a uniform and efficient way to retrieve specific information. Therefore, it is needed to develop an efficient web crawler for gathering useful information in acceptable amount of time. In this paper, we studied the order in which the web crawler visit URLs to rapidly obtain more important web pages. We also developed an internet agent for efficient web crawling using hyperlink structure and fitness of hypertext documents. As a result of experiment on a website. it is shown that proposed agent outperforms other web crawlers using BackLink and PageRank algorithm.

  • In the medical web forum, people share medical experience and information as patients and patents' families. Some people search medical information written in non-expert language and some people offer words of comport to who are suffering from diseases. Medical web forums play a role of the informative support and the emotional support. We propose the automatic classification model of articles in the medical web forum into the information support and emotional support. We extract text features of articles in web forum using text mining techniques from the perspective of linguistics and then perform supervised learning to classify texts into the information support and the emotional support types. We adopt the Support Vector Machine (SVM), Naive-Bayesian, decision tree for automatic classification. We apply the proposed model to the HealthBoards forum, which is also one of the largest and most dynamic medical web forum.

  • This study aims to analyze the frequency of the use of internet web sites for information on landscape trees, and to suggest an improved direction for internet information content concerning of landscape trees. 10 areas of 5internet web-sites that are presented by an internet search with Yahoo Korea, Empas and Naver were studied for their importance and satisfaction degrees by landscape architects who use them. The users recognized the importance of the contents of the internet web-sites for landscape trees, but were not satisfied with it. It was proposed that the web-sites should provide higher quality information on the growth history, price, shipping and handling, payment and the place of origin. Especially, the paper proposes that web-sites should more aggressively utilize information on the quality of landscape trees such as tree forms, trimming states of roots, etc.

  • Since the World-Wide Web (WWW) has become a major channel for information delivery, information overload also has become a serious problem to the Internet users. Therefore, effective information searching is critical to the success of Internet services. We present an integrated search engine for searching relevant web pages on the WWW in a certain Internet domain. It supports a local search on the web sites. The spider obtains all of the web pages from the web sites through web links. It operates autonomously without any human supervision. We developed state transition diagram to control navigation and analyze link structure of each web site. We have implemented an integrated local search engine and it shows that a higher satisfaction is obtained. From the user evaluation, we also find that higher precision is obtained.

  • The overload of internet information makes user many restrictions. Users are confronted with the problems of information quantities, search, quality and reliability without information needs, technology level, education background of user, when they use internet as a tool of information search and retrieval. Web academic information subject gateway which provides user web information resource of high quality is a solution for these problems. This article explores the characteristics about the establishment and administration of foreign web academic information subject gateway, and identifies the considerations for establishing and managing it.

  • The web-based group collaborative systems are emerging as enterprise-wide information systems. Since data in group collaborative systems are apt to be shared among multiple concurrent users and modified simutaneously by them, the web-based group collaborative systems must support synchronous collaboration in order to provide users with synchronized and consistent views of shared data. This paper proposes an active web server which can facilitate synchronous collaboration in web-based group collaborative systems. To accomplish such a goal, the active web server manages dependency relationships between shared data and web browsers referencing them and actively propagates changing details of the shared data to all web browsers referencing them. And, this paper examines usefullness and effectiveness of the active web server to apply it to the ball-bearing design example of concurrent engineering design systems. The prototype system of the active web server is developed on a commercial Object-oriented Database Management System (ODBMS) called OBJECTSTORE using the C++ programming language.

  • This paper discusses an issue of serious security risks at web log which contains private information, and suggests solutions to protect them. These days privacy is core information to produce value-added in information society. Its scope and type is expanded and is more important along with the growth of information society. Web log is a privacy information file enacted as law in South Korea. Web log is not protected properly in spite of that has private information It just is treated as residual product of web services. Many malicious people could gain private information in web log. This problem is occurred by no classified data and improper development of web application. This paper suggests the technical solutions which control data in development phase and minimizes that the private information stored in web log, and applies in operation environment. It is very efficient method to protect private information and to observe the law.

  • The purpose of this research is, first, to assess empirically web3D impacts on consumer information processing. Second, this research aimed to reveal the circumstances under which web3D impact can be maximized. To achieve the second goal, products were classified into physical dominant and information dominant products, and web3D impact was assessed on these two product categories. The laboratory experiment was adopted to compare the web3D impacts on the physical dominant products with that on the information dominant products. The result of this experiment showed that overall, web3D positively influenced consumer comprehension, memory, and attitude toward the products. In detail, for the physical dominant products, subjects significantly comprehended and memorized information better and performed positive attitude toward the products. For the information dominant products, subjects significantly comprehended and memorized better but did not perform the positive attitude toward the products. This paper explains theses results by suggesting that, overall, web3D impact is large and can be maximized when the characteristics of web3D such as interactivity, realistic display of objects support the characteristics of products that web3D represents.
