User Centric Content Management System for Open IPTV Over SNS

  • Coupled schemes between service-oriented architecture (SOA) and Web 2.0 have recently been researched. Web-based content providers and telecommunications company (Telecom) based Internet protocol television (IPTV) providers have struggled against each other to accommodate more three-screen service subscribers. Since the advent of Web 2.0, more abundant reproduced content can be circulated. However, because according to increasing device's resolution and content formats IPTV providers transcode content in advance, network bandwidth, storage and operation costs for content management systems (CMSs) are wasted. In this paper, we present a user centric CMS for open IPTV, which integrates SOA and Web 2.0. Considering content popularity based on a Zipf-like distribution to solve these problems, we analyze the performance between the user centric CMS and the conventional Web syndication system for normalized costs. Based on the user centric CMS, we implement a social Web TV with device-aware function, which can aggregate, transcode, and deploy content over social networking service independently.

A Study on Strengthening the Curriculum Competitiveness of Consumer Education Consisted with the Web 2.0 Information Age: Based on the Evaluation of Availability and Improvement of Teaching Method of Consumer Education in High School Domestic Science (Web 2.0 정보화 시대에 부합되는 소비자교육 교과경쟁력 강화 방안에 관한 연구: 고등학교 기술/가정 교과에서의 소비자교육에 대한 유용성 평가와 교육방법 개선을 중심으로)

  • In this study, based on the current curriculum of consumer education in high school with the advent of Web 2.0 age, I analyzed both the curriculum used by new information tools related with Web 2.0 age and the one used by traditional tools to find out the degree of necessity of consumer education for the high school students in proportion to the level of their informational ability. First, compared with the education of food, clothes and shelter in the curriculum of manual training and domestic science, the necessity, importance, and availability were low and the students had a lower level of interest than they had with the three factors mentioned above. Second, after dividing the sector of consumer education in the curriculum into three fields such as reasonable purchase and use, solution and prevention of consumer problems and forming a new consumer trend, I looked into the necessity of the teaching method using conventional tools and the one using new informational tools following Web 2.0 age respectively. Traditional tools were favored for the education of consumption-related laws and policies, consumers' rights for the general cause of consumer problem solving and preventing. For the generation of the new comsumer trend, the new information tools were preferred in the appreciation of consuming culture and the issues of consuming environment. Third, it was revealed that students' level of informational ethics was the highest at 5.55 while their level of information creation and processing was the lowest at 3.96 from the research of six categories of their informational ability.

Global ginseng research

  • We conducted a comprehensive analysis of research papers on ginseng to provide an overview of global ginseng research. The qualitative and quantitative interpretation was carried out using collected data of Panax species and six other herbal plants from the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. We summarized and classified them by country/territory and institutions based on the corresponding author's institution. The first ginseng paper appeared in 1905 and since then, 8,090 papers have been published until 2019. Among them 7,385 papers were published in recent 24 years from 1996 to 2019. It was 18 papers in 1980, 53 in 1990, 97 in 2000, 369 in 2010, and increased to 678 in 2019. Proportion of ginseng papers in total number of scientific papers were also greatly increased, namely, 0.0008% in 1970, 0.0044% in 1980, 0.101% in 1990, 0.0141% in 2000, and 0.0422% in 2019. 7,099 original research papers including notes and 286 review papers were published during last 24 years. Total 3,286 institutions in 78 countries and 1,274 journals contributed to the publication of ginseng papers. Korea was the leading country in ginseng papers up to 2013, however, China took over the top from 2014. Chinese institutions contributed 40.3% of total papers followed by Korea (34.7%), USA (6.0%), Japan (4.1%), and Canada (2.9%). Ginseng was the most studied medicinal plant during last 24 years followed by tea, garlic, ginkgo, and ginger whose number of papers were 6,499, 3,641, 2,590, and 1,945, respectively.

Application and Evaluation of Web-based Food Frequency Questionnaire for Korean Adolescents (웹 기반 시스템을 이용한 반정량적 식품섭취빈도 조사지의 적용 및 평가)

  • Objectives: We previously developed a dish-based semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) for Korean adolescents and reported that it had reasonable reliability and validity. The objective of the current study was to construct a web-based dietary evaluation system applying the FFQ for Korean adolescents and examine its applicability in the context of reliability and validity. Methods: A web-based food frequency questionnaire system was designed using a comprehensive approach, incorporating not only dietary data survey but also up-to-date nutrition information and individualized eating behavior guidelines. A convenience sample of 50 boys and girls aged 12~18 years agreed to participate in the study and completed the FFQ twice and 3 days of dietary recall on the developed website during a two-month period. The FFQ's reliability and validity was examined using correlation and cross classification analysis. We also measured participants' subjective levels of the web site's usability, visual effect, understanding, and familiarity. Results: Spearman correlation coefficients for reliability ranged from 0.74 (for vitamin A) to 0.94 (for energy). From cross-classification analyses, the proportion of subjects in the same intake quartile was highest for energy (82.0%) and lowest for vitamin A (56.0%). With regard to validity analysis, Spearman correlation coefficients ranged from 0.34 (for fiber) to 0.79 (for energy). The proportions of subjects in the opposite categories between the first FFQ and 3-day diet recall data were generally low from 0.00% (for fat) to 36.2% (for sodium). Average subjective levels of the website's usability, visual effect, understanding, and familiarity were all found to be over 4 points out of 5 points. Conclusions: The web-based dietary evaluation system developed can serve as a valid and attractive tool for administering FFQ to Korean adolescents.

  • In Web2.0 environment, with advanced platform technologies, global vendors such as Google, Microsoft and Yahoo provide competitive geospatial services based on global map and satellite image. But the relatively low level of platform technologies has not rapidly increased the land information and geospatial service markets in Korea. For the ubiquitous next generation Internet, as a one of the R&D projects by Korean Land Spatialization Group, the project for platform technologies has being made to provide customized land information and geospatial service. The platform technologies can be categorized for streamming, mashup and geosearch. More specifically, the 2D/3D Hybird streamming engine, mashup engine for u-GIS service and next generation search engine for land information have being developed. In this context, the strategies for efficient development and use of geoweb platform technologies are required. This study surveys the present geospatial products and services using of platform technologies to propose the strategies for efficient development and use of platform technologies. The strategies for efficient development and use of platform technologies can be proposed focusing on target market and each of platform technologies.

  • Sheet pil VL 제조에 있어서 핵심적인 중요 기술은 압연 중 진행 소재가 좌우 휨이 없이 직진토록하여 치입 상에 문제가 없어야 하는 것이며, 또 하나는 압연 완료후 냉각 중에 있는 제품의 bending량을 최소로 하여 roller 교정기에서 1차 교정으로 교정이 완료되게 하는 것이다. 압연중 소재가 직진토록 하기 위해서 web와 flange 등의 caliber 협상에서 balance가 유지되어야 하므로, web와 flange의 reduction을 1:1 vs 1.0으로 web의 압하가 flange에 비해 10%정도 크게 하였고, 좌우 flange의 reduction이 변화하지 않도록 flange 온도 보존을 위하여 intermediated에서 2 pass를 생략하여 약 40초의 rolling time을 단축시켰고, 이는 7$0^{\circ}C$정도의 온도 drop를 방지하는 효과를 나타내었다. 이로 인한 roll force는 약 15%정도 down 되었다. 논리상으로 A3 변태점 이하에서 web(두꺼운 부분 24.3mm)나 flange(얇은부분 9.5mm)가 동시에 압연이 완료된다면 bending량은 휠씬 줄어든 것이나, 이 경우 roll force 증가에 따른 roll 절손 사고의 위험과 설비 trouble이 우려되기 때문에 web 온도를 약 95$0^{\circ}C$에서 flange 온도를 83.$0^{\circ}C$에서 압연 완료토록 함으로써 설비 안전을 도모하였고, 1차 교정을 위하여 냉각 주수 설비를 설치하여 공냉시켰을 때의 1400mm에서 700mm로 bending량을 감소시킴으로써 이를 가능토록하였다.

  • In recently, as the interest of media contents increase among internet users, a variety of media contents are circulated in the web. Especially, video-media content in media contents attracts internet user's interest. In conjunction with web 2.0, internet users open and share their making contents by themselves. Their attitude about accepting media contents is not passive but aggressive. Additionally, they create new form of distribution of the flow. Video media content for distribution on the Web is created by experts to a professional content, but Web 2.0 era, the UCC (User Create Contents) in the form of self-produced content is the most. The generated media by the general internet users, but self-produced content, provides video information only and has limitations. To satisfy internet users as consumers in the web 2.0 eras, it has needed to provide actual feeling contents that add various effects not just simple media. Therefore, this paper represents the existing media content with simple information based on the concept of ontology and the meaning to the subject for the media content. We will provide an actual feeling how to offer the configuration of a service model (AF-VS : Actual Feeling Video Service).

Evaluation for Food and Nutrition Information Sites on the Internet (식품영양정보 제공 인터넷 사이트 평가)

  • This study was done to analyze the contents of food and nutrition information sites on the internet. In analysis, 276 web sites were used. Web sites from 3 internet search engines(Yahoo, Empas, Naver) were selected on the date of July 15th, 2004. The trained panels evaluated web sites' contents by the assessment tools using 3-point scale(2:strongly agree, 1:agree, 0:disagree). The contents classified by topics were functional foods(46.4%), cuisine and cooking(38.4%), food sanitation and safety(30.4%) and so on. Operators of web sites were individual(35.9%), company(30.4%) and public institution(33.7%). About 89.5% of web sites were operated for unspecified people. Contents of the web sites were well established especially in consistency in title and contents(1.6), scientific basis of explanations(1.2) and benefit of information(1.2) and so on while not well established in providing relevant sites(0.7), providing contact address and feed back mechanism(0.7) and so on. Web sites operated by public institutions are rated significantly higher than web sites operated by individual or company. In conclusion, in order to qualitatively improve food and nutrition information on the internet, continuing monitoring and evaluation are highly required and web sites operated by public institutions shall be developed further.

Online resources for information on shoulder arthroplasty: an assessment of quality and readability

  • Background: Many patients use online resources to educate themselves on surgical procedures and make well-informed healthcare decisions. The aim of our study was to evaluate the quality and readability of online resources exploring shoulder arthroplasty. Methods: An internet search pertaining to shoulder arthroplasty (partial, anatomic, and reverse) was conducted using the three most popular online search engines. The top 25 results generated from each term in each search engine were included. Webpages were excluded if they were duplicates, advertised by search engines, subpages of other pages, required payments or subscription, or were irrelevant to our scope. Webpages were classified into different source categories. Quality of information was assessed by HONcode certification, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) criteria, and DISCERN benchmark criteria. Webpage readability was assessed using the Flesch reading ease score (FRES). Results: Our final dataset included 125 web pages. Academic sources were the most common with 45 web pages (36.0%) followed by physician/private practice with 39 web pages (31.2%). The mean JAMA and DISCERN scores for all web pages were 1.96±1.31 and 51.4±10.7, respectively. The total mean FRES score was 44.0±11.0. Only nine web pages (7.2%) were HONcode certified. Websites specified for healthcare professionals had the highest JAMA and DISCERN scores with means of 2.92±0.90 and 57.96±8.91, respectively (P<0.001). HONcode-certified webpages had higher quality and readability scores than other web pages. Conclusions: Web-based patient resources for shoulder arthroplasty information did not show high-quality scores and easy readability. When presenting medical information, sources should maintain a balance between readability and quality and should seek HONcode certification as it helps establish the reliability and accessibility of the presented information.   • Since the Web 2.0 generation, the average user is more than just enjoying the various media contents; they start to create contents, and those contents have had a huge value and great influence in recent days. The reason for the increase of users who tend to create contents is due to popularization of web based applications. Previous applications were only for the skilled person; however, new web based applications involve the average person and give him a new level of user enjoyment by allowing him to create easily with simple operations. In this paper, through analysing previous animation-creating applications which could not spread widely compared to other contents, we suggest the outline for developing a web based animation-creating application which can help the user to easily create animation contents. We have looked around at how various other contents-making applications have been changed to help the user to be able to participate in creating contents, and we suggest how animation-creating applications can be changed and developed from this analysis. We expect the conclusion of this paper to stimulate to development acting 3D animation-creating applications corresponding to the web 2.0 features - open, share, cooperate, participate. In result, users can enjoy creating the animation more actively; at the same time, we hope to help the development of the new applications which correlate to memedia generation.
