Differentiated QoS Provisioning of WBAN Traffic in WUSB Services based on IEEE 802.15.6 (IEEE 802.15.6 표준 기반 무선 USB 서비스의 차등화된 WBAN 트래픽 QoS 제공 방안)

  • A recent major development in computer technology is the advent of the wearable computer system that is based on human-centric interface technology trends and ubiquitous computing environments. Wearable computer systems can use the wireless universal serial bus (WUSB) that refers to USB technology that is merged with WiMedia PHY/MAC technical specifications. In this paper, we focus on an integrated system of the wireless USB over the IEEE 802.15.6 wireless body area networks (WBAN) for wireless wearable computer systems supporting U-health services. And a communication structure that can differentiate QoS of U-health WBAN and WUSB traffic with different priorities is proposed for WUSB over IEEE 802.15.6 hierarchical protocol. In our proposal and performance evaluation, throughputs of U-health WBAN and WUSB traffic are analyzed under single and multiple QoS classes to evaluate the effectiveness of proposed QoS differentiating structure in WUSB over IEEE 802.15.6.

  • In progress to ubiquitous intelligent society, there are emerging technologies such smart wear related researches as wearable computer, smart fiber and smart fashion. In this paper, wearable 3D information acquisition device which improved both advanced in convenience and portable is implemented. 3D information input system is basically grouped of some modules; Gyro sensor for acquisition of 3D space coordinate, RF transmitter/receiver, and signal processing module etc. To testify the validity of designed system, some experiments are performed using lest board with respect to the communication distance, easiness of wearable and operation sensibility.

  • Recently, as we move toward a society with an increasingly aged population, wearable U-health devices in various shapes with smart wear have been developed in order to conveniently measure health variables without using hands in daily life or at home. However, the problem is that only supply of the wearable U-health devices is focused and its applicable devices are studied and developed, which has resulted in lack of awareness of importance of performance evaluation. In this study, two electrodes were fabricated using conductive fabric which can be used as electrode if attached to wearable U-health devices or smart wear in order to measure ECG signal. Two electrodes those were fabricated using conductive fabric were compared the correlation, impedance and CMRR with patch typed Ag-AgCl electrode-normally used for measurement of ECG signal, so that the study would find out if the fabricated electrode can be used with the wearable U-health devices by testing and evaluating performances.

  • 본 고에서는 최근 IT 분야에서 많은 관심을 갖고 있는 유비쿼터스 헬스케어 서비스의 개념에 대해 간략히 소개하고 서비스를 구성하는 요소에 대해 살펴본다. u-Health 서비스의 다양한 영역 중 네트워크 기반의 건강 관리 서비스를 위한 웨어러블 혹은 휴대용 헬스 모니터링 시스템의 기술 현황과 문제점, u-Health 서비스 지원을 위한 웨어러블 시스템의 역할에 대해 알아본다. 마지막으로 u-Health 서비스 도입과 관련하여 고려해야 할 점들에 대해 기술한다.

In this paper, we focus on an integrated system of the wireless USB over the wireless body area networks (WBAN) for wireless wearable computer systems supporting U-health services. To construct the WUSB over WBAN communication systems, we propose a WBAN beaconing structure to assign WUSB communication periods. In the proposed structure, WUSB uses private periods of WBAN. In our performance evaluations, we compare theoretical results and simulation results about throughputs of WUSB under various WBAN channel occupations to evaluate the effectiveness of proposed structure in WUSB over WBAN communications.

  • Recently, the wearable computing technology with bio-sensors has been rapidly developed and utilized in various areas such as personal health, care-giving for senior citizens who live alone, and sports activities. In particular, the wearable computing equipment to measure vital signs by means of digital yarns and bio sensors is noticeable. The wearable computing devices help users monitor and manage their health in their daily lives through the customized healthcare service. In this paper, we suggest a system for monitoring and analyzing vital signs utilizing smart healthcare clothing with bio-sensors. Vital signs that can be continuously acquired from the clothing is well-known as unstructured data. The amount of data is huge, and they are perceived as the big data. Vital sings are stored by Hadoop Distributed File System(HDFS), and one can build data warehouse for analyzing them in HDFS. We provide health monitoring system based on vital sings that are acquired by biosensors in smart healthcare clothing. We implemented a big data platform which provides health monitoring service to visualize and monitor clinical information and physical activities performed by the users.

Design of Time Synchronization Mechanism of Wireless USB over IEEE 802.15.6 (WUSB over IEEE 802.15.6 WBAN 프로토콜의 시각 동기 구조 설계)

In this paper, we focus on an integrated system of the wireless USB over the IEEE 802.15.6 wireless body area networks (WBAN) for wireless wearable computer systems supporting U-health services. And a communication structure that performs the time-synchronization is proposed for WUSB over IEEE 802.15.6 hierarchical protocol. Proposed time-synchronization mechanisms adopt the WBAN Polling Access and combine it with a time-synchronization middleware using time stamps. In our performance evaluations, time-synchronization performances with only WBAN Polling Access scheme are analyzed first. After that, performances combined with the time-synchronization middleware are analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness of proposed time-synchronization structure in WUSB over IEEE 802.15.6.

Hibernation Structure Design of Wireless USB over IEEE 802.15.6 Hierarchical MAC Protocol (WUSB over IEEE 802.15.6 통합 MAC 프로토콜의 Hibernation 구조 설계)

In this paper, we focus on an integrated system of the wireless USB over the IEEE 802.15.6 wireless body area networks (WBAN) for wireless wearable computer systems supporting U-health services. And a communication structure that performs the hibernation for low power consumption is proposed for WUSB over IEEE 802.15.6 hierarchical protocol. In the proposed hibernation mechanisms, WUSB communications are permitted at each m-periodic inactive periods of WBAN superframes by using the WBAN information of Wakeup Period and Wakeup Phase message fields. In our performance evaluations, performances according to amount of WUSB traffic and Wakeup Periods are analyzed respectively to evaluate the effectiveness of proposed hibernation structure in WUSB over IEEE 802.15.6.
