  • An adaptive EEG waveform detection is presented. The method is based on a layered process model. The model allows the bilateral information exchange across the layers. The criteria for the waveform detection and epoch-wise classification can be adapted according to the higher layer context information embedded in a wider range of adjacent signals. The designed system is experimentally tested to show the adaptive operation of the waveform detection.

  • In this study, we have developed the digital hardware system which performs signal processing necessary for the filtering to eliminate noises by inputting pulse wave signals from the sensor group. With a view to obtain clinically effective information, we analyzed structural elements of pulse waveform and, thus, conducted a systematic classification. What is more, this study has conducted researches in the web-based diagnosis data management system of pulse waveform as well as the method of transmitting the data of pulse waveform. In order to set the standard for the documents of the pulse ...

  • The metal transfer in $CO_2$ welding shows the transition of transfer mode from short-circuiting to repelled transfer will the increase of welding current. While the short-circuiting mode in $CO_2$ welding has been studied very extensively relating with droplet formation and spatter generation, the repelled transfer has little been understood. In this study, high current $CO_2$ welding has been performed with bead-on-plate welds along with the waveform analyzer and high speed camera. The image of high speed camera was synchronized with its waveform so that the moment of spatter generation could be realized during drop detachment. As a results of this study, it was found that welding arc changes its location either once or three times and thus single or double pulse signals were developed in the voltage waveform. Whenever the arc moved its location, new arc was developed in a explosive way and thus it caused spatter generation. Specially severe spattering took place when the waveform showed a double-peak pattern. As a consequence of these results, new waveform control techniques could be suggested for suppressing the spatter generation in the high-current $CO_2$ welding.

  • In this paper, the low cycle fatigue(LCF) life tests were carried out under waveforms of asymmetric triangle($4{\times}10^{-3}$ and $4{\times}10^{-10}$ strain rate) and hold-time(1min and 10min) in strain control. In triangular waveform, the fatigue lives of fast-slow waveforms were decreased to about 63-73% and them of slow-fast waveforms were down to about 23-24% compared to them of fast-fast waveforms. The shapes of fracture surfaces were transgranular in fast-fast and fast-slow waveforms and intergranular in slow-fast ones. The fatigue lives of slow-fast waveforms were remarkedly shorter than them of hold-time waveforms even though cycle times of hold time waveforms were longer than them of slow-fast ones. The damage mechanisms of frature surfaces were mixed frature with both transgranular and intergranular, but intergranular fratures were r-type cavity in hold-time waveforms and w-type cavity in slow-fast ones.

  • This paper presents a programmable single-phase ac power source that provides a sinusoidal output voltage with an adjustable output amplitude and frequency over a wide range as well as an arbitrary waveform. The ac power source under consideration have a linear power amplifier. The desired output values can be programmed with a personal computer. The power source operates at 220[V]/60[Hz] mains and the output voltage is isolated from the input circuit. The system consists mainly of a power converter to generate and amplify the waveform signal, a controller to control the desired output signal and measure the output parameters, and a control program to set the desired output and display the values. The prototype ac power source was constructed and tested with the results demonstrating a good performance.

  • Bridge circuit was developed such that the pressure wave in the inkjet can be measured. In order to test the circuit, the microfab single ejector was used. For the experiment, the head was filled with nano silver ink (20wt%). In order to generate waveform voltage for jetting signal, the Agilent 33120 was used in order to generate arbitrary waveform. For the driver, PZD 350 from TREK was used in order to amplify the waveform. Experimental results show that the designed circuit can effectively detect the pressure wave in the inkjet head.

  • The motion analysis of a translation device driven by a piezoelectric actuator is performed to identify the mechanics of impact drive mechanism and to find the maximum speed waveform. The translation device is modeled as a semidefinite two-degree-of-freedom system. The motion analysis includes effects of friction force between moving mass and contact surface, dynamics of voltage amplifier and piezoelectric elements, and hysteresis of piezoelectric actuator. Base on the model, simulation studies are carried out and then compared with experimental results. It is found that the error between moving distances obtained by analysis and experiment is less than 15% and that the actual motion of moving mass is well predicted by the analytical work, finally, precision positioning experiments are carried out by using a proximity sensor as a feedback sensor. Position control of moving mass is initiated by the maximum speed waveform and finely tuned by the scaled down waveform so that accurate positioning is accomplished within the resolution of the sensor.
