다방향불규칙파랑장에서의 파고, 주기, 파향의 종합확률분포 유도과정 및 적합성 (On the Joint Distribution of Wave Height, Period and Wave Direction in Random Sea Waves)

  • 파고, 주기의 정보로서 수위변동η, 그 시간적분법η, 파향의 정보로서 수평방향 2성분 물입자속도 u, v의 4가지 시계열을 판정하여, narrow band-width frequency spectrum을 가지는 불규칙파의 포락파형(enveloped wave)을 구함으로서, 파고, 주기, 파향의 종합확률분포를 상세히 유도하여, 현지실측경과와 비교, 검토했다. 그 결과, 실측되어진 종합확률분포는 유도되어진 파고, 주기, 파향의 결합확률분포와 양호하게 일치하여 현지 불규칙파랑장에 있어서 충분한 정도로서 적용할 수 있다는 것을 알았다.

Effects of floating wave barriers on wave-induced forces exerted to offshore-jacket structure

  • The main objective of the present research was investigating the effects of a floating wave barrier installed in front of an offshore jacket structure on the wave height, base shear, and overturning moment. A jacket model with the height of 4.55 m was fabricated and tested in the 402 m-long wave flume of NIMALA marine laboratory. The jacket was tested at the water depth of 4 m subjected to the random waves with a JONSWAP energy spectrum. Three input wave heights were chosen for the tests: 20 cm, 23 cm, and 28 cm. Two different cross sections with the same area were selected for the wave barrier: square and rhombus. Results showed that the average decrease in the jacket's base shear due to the presence of a floating wave barrier with square and rhombus cross section was 24.67% and 34.29%, respectively. The use of wave barriers with square and rhombus cross sections also resulted in 19.78% and 33.11% decrease in the jacket's overturning moment, respectively. Hence, it can be concluded that a floating wave barrier can significantly reduce the base shear and overturning moment in an offshore jacket structure; and a rhombus cross section is more effective than an equivalent square section.

제주 연해 수중 주변소음 계류 측정과 환경 변화에 따른 분석 (Moored measurement of the ambient noise and analysis with environmental factors in the coastal sea of Jeju Island)

  • 본 연구는 풍력, 파력발전기가 설치되는 제주 동부와 서부 수심 20 m 연해에서 4개월동안 수중 청음기를 중층(10 m)에 계류하여 주변소음을 측정하였다. 측정 소음레벨에 영향을 미치는 기상정보는 측정 지점 근처 기상대와 관측소를 이용하여 자료를 수집하였다. 100 Hz 이하의 주파수 대역에서 조석의 영향으로 간조와 만조, 조금과 사리일 때 약 5 dB ~ 20 dB가량 변화를 보였다. 파랑과 바람의 영향은 1 kHz 이하의 주파수 대역에서 25 dB이내로 큰 변화를 보였으며 파랑은 저주파 대역에 영향을 주었고 바람은 1 kHz 이상의 고주파 대역까지도 영향을 주었다. 10 kHz 이상의 고주파 대역에 영향을 주는 요인으로 강우와 생물 소음이 있고 웬즈 곡선 최대값에 비해 약 10 dB 높게 측정되었다.

Effects of Roughness and Vertical Wall Factors on Wave Overtopping in Rubble Mound Breakwaters in Busan Yacht Harbor

  • Coastlines are protected by breakwater structures against the erosion of sand or other materials along beaches due to wave action. This research examined the use of physical modeling to determine the effects of the tetrapod size and vertical walls of a rubble mound on the volume of wave overtopping under irregular wave conditions in coastal areas in Busan Yacht Harbor. In this analysis model, the structures were studied using irregular waves and the JONSWAP wave energy spectrum. To understand the effects of the tetrapod size and heights of the vertical wall, the study considered vertical walls of 0, 1.78, 6.83, and 9.33 cm with armor double layered material tetrapods of 8, 12, 16, and 20 tons. An extensive number of experiments covering a relatively large range of variables enabled a comprehensive discussion. First, in the presence of a short vertical wall, the water level played a key role in the overtopping discharge. In such circumstances, the values of the wave overtopping discharge decreased with increasing freeboard size. In the presence of a tall freeboard and middle, the value of the wave overtopping discharge was equally influenced by the vertical wall factor. Moreover, the tetrapod size decreased by an increase in the vertical wall factor, and relationship between them resulted in a short wall height. From an engineering point of view, considering a small water level may allow the choice of a shorter vertical wall, which would ultimately provide a more economical design.

초음파의 파형 해석에 의한 고감쇠 재료의 평가 (Evaluation of High Attenuation Material Using Utrasonic Wave Analysis)

  • 본 논문은 초음파법을 이용하여 소결 재료의 비파괴적인 평가 방법을 확립하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 소결 재료의 밀도는 소결체로 제작되는 동안 금형과 분말사이의 마찰 때문에 부분적으로 불균질한 분포를 가지고 있으며 이 불균질성은 에너지 감쇠 계수 및 초음파 반사 에코의 주파수 스펙트럼에 있어 중심 주파수의 변화량에 의해 조사되었다. 초음파의 속도, 탄성계수, 포와송 비는 소결 재료의 밀도와 비례 관계에 있었으며 저면 반사파의 중심 주파수는 초음파의 전파 거리의 증가 및 밀도의 감소에 따라 저주파수 쪽으로 이동하였으나 에너지 감쇠 계수는 밀도의 증가에 따라 감소하고 있었다. 본 논문에서는 반사파의 주파수 스펙트럼에 있어 중심 주파수의 변화가 소결 재료의 비파괴적인 평가 방법으로써의 가능성을 보여주고 있다.

Sea Surface statistical Properties as Measured by Laser Beam Reflections

  • A new method of laser remote sensing is proposed, based on sensing the sea surface by a narrow laser beam (2-3cm) and analyzing statistically specular reflections. Construction of the angular dependency of the average density of specks versus the aircraft flight horizontal azimuth allows calculation of both intensity and azimuthal properties of the sea surface spectrum. The paper contains the experimental setup and technique, the field measurement data taken onboard an aircraft and the examples of calculated main statistical parameters of sea waves. Their energy-carrying component velocity is found by the mean velocity of an ensemble of specular points at the random sea surface. The surface wave nonlinearity is shown to affect substantially the statistical characteristics measured: mean numbers of specular areas with th given elevation and given slope, arranged along the line of crossing the sea surface by the scanning laser beam. Experimental measurement of a variance in the number of these areas yields a principal possibility to calculate the correlation function of the sea surface without its preliminary modeling.

An Estimation of Springing Responses for Recent Ships

  • The estimation of springing responses for recent ships is carried out, and application to a ship design is described. To this aim, springing effects on hull girder were re-evaluated, including non-linear wave excitations and torsional vibrations of the hull. The Timoshenko beam model was used to calculate stress distribution on the hull girder, using the superposition method. The quadratic strip method was employed to calculate the hydrodynamic forces and moments on the hull. In order to remove the irregular frequencies, we adopted 'rigid lid' on the hull free surface level, and addedasymptotic interpolation along the high frequency range. Several applications were carried out on the following existing ships: The Bishop and Price's container ship, S-175 container ship, large container, VLCC, and ore carrier. One of them is compared with the ship measurement result, while another with that of the model test. The comparison between the analytical solution and the numerical solution for a homogeneous beam-type artificial ship shows good agreement. It is found that Most springing energy comesfrom high frequency waves for the ships having low natural frequency and North Atlantic route etc. Therefore, the high frequency tail of the wave spectrum should be increased by $\omega$$\^{-3}$ instead of $\omega$$\^{-4}$ or $\omega$$\^{-5}$ for the springing calculation.

Characteristics of long-period swells measured in the near shore regions of eastern Arabian Sea

  • Measured wave data covering two years simultaneously at 3 locations along the eastern Arabian Sea reveals the presence of long-period (peak wave period > 18 s) low-amplitude waves (significant wave height < 1 m) and the characteristics of these waves are described in this article. In a year, 1.4-3.6% of the time, the low-amplitude long-period swells were observed, and these waves were mainly during the nonmonsoon period. The wave spectra during these long-period swells were multi-peaked with peak wave period around 18.2 s, the secondary peak period around 13.3 s and the wind-sea peak period at 5 s. The ratio of the spectral energy of the wind-sea peak and the primary peak (swell) was slightly higher at the northern location (0.2) than that at the southern location (0.15) due to the higher wind speed present at the northern location.

후쿠오카 지역 발생 지진의 Coda파, 배경잡음 및 S파 에너지를 이용한 관측소의 증폭특성에 관한 비교 연구 (A Comparison Study of the Amplification Characteristics of the Seismic Observation Sites using Coda wave, Background Noise, and S-wave Energy from Fukuoka Earthquakes Series)

  • 내진설계기준이 국내 고유의 지반 특성을 제대로 반영하지 못하고 있어 특히 고진동수 구간에서 실제 관측된 가속도 스펙트럼 값이 내진설계기준보다 상대적으로 크게 나타나는 등 문제점이 많다고 지적되어 왔다. 지반증폭 특성을 분석할 때 여러 가지 방법이 제시되어 있으나 본 연구는 지반진동의 수평/수직 비율을 이용하는 방법을 적용하였다. 이 방법은 최근 배경잡음, S파 및 Coda파 등에 적용되어 지반의 동적인 증폭 특성연구에 많이 이용되고 있다. 본 연구는 후쿠오카 지진으로부터 관측된 지반진동의 Coda파 및 배경잡음을 분석하였고 결과를 일련의 후쿠오카 지진의 S파 에너지를 분석한 결과와 비교하였다. 2005년 3월 20일 발생한 후쿠오카 본진을 포함하여 규모 3.9 이상의 모두 15개 중규모의 후속 지진으로부터 국내 관측소에 관측된 각각 267개 지반진동 자료의 Coda파 및 배경잡음을 분석하여 국내 8개 주요 지진관측소 지반의 동적인 증폭특성을 분석하였다. 각각의 지진관측소마다 저 진동수 및 고진동수 특성, 관측소 고유의 우월진동수가 서로 상이하여 관측소 고유의 증폭특성을 보여주었다. 대다수 관측소는 S파 및 배경잡음 에너지를 분석한 결과와 많은 부분이 유사함을 보여 주었다. 물론 본 연구로부터 도출된 결과를 다른 방법을 적용하여 얻어진 결과와 비교할 경우 주요 국내 지진관측소지반의 동적특성 및 지반분류 연구에 많은 정보를 제시할 수 있다.
