This paper investigates wave propagation in functionally graded carbon nano-reinforced composite (FG-CNTRC) plates under the influence of temperature based on Reddy' plate model. The material properties of Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) are size-dependent, and the volume fraction of CNTs varies only along the thickness direction of the plate for different CNTs reinforcement modes. In addition, the material properties of CNTs can vary for different temperature parameters. By solving the eigenvalue problem, analytical dispersion relations can be derived for CNTRC plates. The partial differential equations for the system are derived from Lagrange's principle and higher order shear deformation theory is used to obtain the wave equations for the CNTRC plate. Numerical analyses show that the wave propagation properties in the CNTRC plate are related to the volume fraction parameters of the CNTRC plate and the distribution pattern of the CNTs in the polymer matrix. The effects of different volume fractions of CNTs and the distribution pattern of carbon nanotubes along the cross section (UD-O-X plate) are discussed in detail.

This work presents an analytical approach to investigate wave propagation in bi-directional functionally graded cantilever porous beam. The formulations are based on Touratier's higher-order shear deformation beam theory. The physical properties of the porous functionally graded material beam are graded through the width and thickness using a power law distribution. Two porosities models approximating the even and uneven porosity distributions are considered. The governing equations of the wave propagation in the porous functionally graded beam are derived by employing the Hamilton's principle. Closed-form solutions for various parameters and porosity types are obtained, and the numerical results are compared with those available in the literature. The numerical results show the power law index, number of wave, geometrical parameters and porosity distribution models affect the dynamic of the FG beam significantly.
An axisymmetric, stationary electrodynamic model of the central engine of an active galactic nucleus has been well formulated by Macdonald and Thorne. In this model the relativistic region around the central black hole must be filled by highly conducting plasma and the equations of magnetohydrodynamics are then satisfied. In this paper we analyze magnetohydrodynamic wave propagation in this region. We find that there are three distinct types of waves - the Alfven wave and two magnetosonic waves. The wave equations turn out to be not very different from those in nonrelativistic case except they are redshifted.

Millimeter waves are potentially useful for high resolution ranging and imaging in low optical visibility conditions such as fog and smoke. Also, They can be used for wide band communications since the currently used spectrum bands are already crowded. However, it is necessary to develop a theoretical and experimental understanding of millimeter wave propagation to assess the performance of millimeter wave systems. The intensity fluctuations and mutual coherence function (MCF) describe atmospheric effects on the millimeter wave propagation. Using the quasi-optical method (QOM), a practical and efficient method is suggested to obtain MCF from the flux measurement in the antenna focal plane.
In this paper, we propose a hydrodynamic scene separation method for wave propagation from video imagery using autoencoder. In the coastal area, image analysis methods such as particle tracking and optical flow with video imagery are usually applied to measure ocean waves owing to some difficulties of direct wave observation using sensors. However, external factors such as ambient light and weather conditions considerably hamper accurate wave analysis in coastal video imagery. The proposed method extracts hydrodynamic scenes by separating only the wave motions through minimizing the effect of ambient light during wave propagation. We have visually confirmed that the separation of hydrodynamic scenes is reasonably well extracted from the ambient light and backgrounds in the two videos datasets acquired from real beach and wave flume experiments. In addition, the latent representation of the original video imagery obtained through the latent representation learning by the variational autoencoder was dominantly determined by ambient light and backgrounds, while the hydrodynamic scenes of wave propagation independently expressed well regardless of the external factors.
We have studied the characteristic wave propagation in 1,4-CHD-Bromate-Ferroin reaction system and we have examined the bead size effect on the wave propagation of the system by adopting a half-divided Petri dish which is separated into two parts by the size of cation-exchange resin. It has been done to understand the reaction process inducing the characteristic wave behavior in the system. The characteristic wave behavior of the system is in the spontaneous induction of a revival wave with a long time lag. We have obtained a result that the revival wave is not affected by the size of catalyst-doped beads while the initially induced wave is influenced by the size of beads. It means that the two waves are induced by different reaction processes each other and the revival wave is induced by an uncatalyzed reaction process.
This study was to simulate it that the sending receiving vehicles run on the general national roads with the one-way two-lanes at 80[km/h] speed. This study was to select 280[m] radius of curvature based on the statistical data with high rate of traffic accidents, 140[m] length of direct roads considering the stopping stadia, 90[m] length of curve, and 8 points of curved roads at 11.25[m] intervals. As a result above, when the distance between the sending and receiving vehicles became more than 111[m], the propagation path of reflected wave by the adjacent vehicles became longer than the propagation path of reflected wave by the left/right reflectors because the number of repeated reflection increased. In this study, the repeated reflection for the propagation's reach to the receiving vehicles was about $1{\sim}2$[times] as it supposed it less than 111[m]. Accordingly, it found out that the propagation path of reflected wave received through the left/right reflectors was about $1{\sim}1.5[m]$ larger than the reflected wave produced by the adjacent vehicles regardless of lanes on which the sending and receiving vehicles were located.
In an urban area telecommunication using wireless system, the accurate prediction and analysis of wave propagation characteristics are very important to determine the service area optimized selection of base station, and eel design, etc. In the stage of these analyses, we have to present the propagation prediction mood which is varied with the type of antenna, directional angle, and configuration of the ground in our urban area in addition we need to perform an analysis of the conventional mode which is similar to ours and dig out the parameters to evaluate the wave environment before the cell design for the selected area. In this paper, we propose a wave propagation prediction model concerning the topography and obstacles in our urban area. We extract the parameters and apply them to the proposed wave environment for the simulation analyzing the propagation characteristics. Throughout these analyzing procedure, we extracted the essential parameters such as the position of the base station, the height of topography, and adequate type and height of the antenna with our preferable cuteness.

Various modeling techniques for ultrasonic wave propagation and scattering problems in finite solid media are presented. Elastodynamic boundary value problems in inhomogeneous multi-layered plate-like structures are set up for modal analysis of guided wave propagation and numerically solved to obtain dispersion curves which show propagation characteristics of guided waves. As a powerful modeling tool to overcome such numerical difficulties in wave scattering problems as the geometrical complexity and mode conversion, the Boundary Element Method(BEM) is introduced and is combined with the normal mode expansion technique to develop the hybrid BEM, an efficient technique for modeling multi mode conversion of guided wave scattering problems. Time dependent wave forms are obtained through the inverse Fourier transformation of the numerical solutions in the frequency domain. 3D BEM program development is underway to model more practical ultrasonic wave signals. Some encouraging numerical results have recently been obtained in comparison with the analytical solutions for wave propagation in a bar subjected to time harmonic longitudinal excitation. It is expected that the presented modeling techniques for elastic wave propagation and scattering can be applied to establish quantitative nondestructive evaluation techniques in various ways.
A 3D human ventricular model is proposed to simulate an integrative analysis of heart physiology and blood hemodynamics. This consists of the models of electrophysiology of human cells, electric wave propagation of tissue, heart solid mechanics, and 3D blood hemodynamics. The 3D geometry of human heart is discretized to a finite element mesh for the simulation of electric wave propagation and mechanics of heart. In cellular level, excitations by action potential are simulated using the existing human model. Then the contraction mechanics of a whole cell is incorporated to the excitation model. The excitation propagation to ventricular cells are transiently computed in the 3D cardiac tissue using a mono-domain method of electric wave propagation in cardiac tissue. Blood hemodynamics in heart is also considered and incorporated with muscle contraction. We use a PISO type finite element method to simulate the blood hemodynmaics in the human ventricular model.
