Efficient Watercolor Painting on Mobile Devices

  • We present a novel watercolor painting drawing system which can work even on low powered computing machine such as tablet PC. Most digital watercolor systems are generated to perform on desktop, not low powered mobile computing system such as iPad. Our system can be utilized for art education besides professional painters. Our system is not a naïve imitation of real watercolor painting, but handles with properties of watercolor such as diffusion, boundary salience, and mixing of water and pigment.

Developing textile design having watercolor effect and woven texture using Photoshop for Transfer Digital Textile Printing(DTP)

  • Computer development and new printing technology allow us to express a new type of digital textile designs those were not possible in the past. In this study, watercolor overlaying effect of various colors was tried using airbrush tool in Photoshop program. Photoshop program is a powerful graphic tool and can be used in textile design area to generate various types of designs. Woven texture was also applied to the design to give yarn dyed effects or rich appearance. Photoshop program was also used to develop woven texture without the help of the professional textile CAD. Photoshop channels enables the designers to apply various textures to the image. Plain weave and houndstooth were applied in this study. Colorways of the developed designs having watercolor effect and woven texture by applying Photoshop color adjustment function. Quick and simultaneous changes of colors were possible using this method. The developed textile designs were printed by transfer DTP. Successful textile design prints were expressed and showed watercolor overlaying effect and woven texture. The printed textiles show a little brighter color, and therefore, sample printing is recommendable in case of color sensitive production.

  • 본 연구는 예술작품의 한 분야로, 활발한 움직임을 보이고 있는 뷰티 일러스트레이션에 수채화 기법을 융합시켜 디자인함으로써 회화적 특징이 나타나는 작품을 제작하는 연구이다. 이는 수채화 기법을 통한 뷰티 일러스트레이션의 다양한 표현방식을 재조명함으로써 창의적인 표현이 반영된 융합디자인 연구라는 점에 그 학술적 의의가 있다. 연구방법은 선행연구와 전문서적으로 진행되며, 이를 토대로 수채화 기법을 크게 번지기 기법, 겹쳐 칠하기 기법으로 나누어 아트메이크업 디자인을 중심으로 뷰티 일러스트레이션을 총 4작품 제작한다. 이러한 결과는 첫째, 수채화 기법이 뷰티 일러스트레이션의 또 다른 표현방식을 제시하는데 있어 무한한 가능성을 모색할 수 있었다. 둘째, 수채화만이 지니고 있는 맑고 담백한 느낌을 통해 독창적인 아트메이크업 디자인을 표현할 수 있었다. 이에 본 연구는 뷰티 일러스트레이션의 제한된 표현방식에서 탈피함으로써 접근성을 높였고 폭넓고 다양한 작품제작을 기대할 수 있도록 하였다. 이로써 뷰티 일러스트레이션이 예술성 전문성을 겸비한 독자적인 영역으로 전문화되기를 바란다.

Performance Embodiment of Acrylic Material in Art Painting Creation

  • In art painting creation, painting material is an important carrier. Acrylic as a young material has very wide applications in modern art. This study mainly analyzed the properties of acrylic material. Firstly, the emergence and development of acrylic were introduced, and then its material characteristics were analyzed. Finally, the performance embodiment of acrylic paintings was compared with oil paintings and watercolor paintings. It was found that acrylic paintings not only had some advantages of oil and watercolor paintings but also had own style characteristics; acrylic paintings also have advantages in durability and flexibility; acrylic paintings could present the characteristics that oil and watercolor paintings did not have while realizing the techniques of them. Acrylic paintings have a broad development space in art creation, which is worth further attention and promotion.

  • Contemporary architecture is philosophy and art, and science are different that holds the architecture of human thought and behavior based on a variety of physical space. In addition, the technology is used by the new media graphics, lasers, LED, which were possible only in imagination, using tools such as the time-space of the potential for explosion. In particular, it was found in the spacial color of atypical using the nature of light. Such these architecture is space people actively experiencing a sense towards the expansion of its place. Therefore, the study purpose is to explore the Steven Holl's spacial colors to utilize the space is important to the possibility of light. He prefers the connection to the invisible world is inferred from the visible world and other space. He thoughts an idea linked to the concept watercolors which is a tool that holds to the notion of the flexibility of light and shadow. Concept watercolor is the idea space, establish space, recombinant space, and the growthy space. These have shown the no fixed spacial color cause of the combination of the different tones according to the characteristics of the mixed-color development of a concept watercolors demonstrated the spacial color of the replacement. That is to establish a parody of the works light blending spacial color.

  • 본 논문에서는 영상처리에서 많이 사용하는 bilateral filtering과 mean shift segmentation을 이용하여 일반적인 사진을 수채화 스타일로 변환하는 기법에 대하여 제안한다. 먼저 bilateral filtering을 이용하여 사진의 외곽선 부분은 보존하면서 고주파 성분을 약화시키도록 한다. 그리고 bilateral filtering된 영상에서 mean shift segmentation을 수행하여 수채화 스타일의 영상을 생성한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 기법으로 다양한 사진에 대하여 실험한 결과 수채화 스타일로 잘 변화되는 것을 확인하였으며 특히 주광에서 촬영한 풍경 사진들에 대하여 보다 우수한 성능을 보임을 확인하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 최근 급속히 보급되고 있는 스마트폰에서 촬영한 사진 영상을 수채화 효과가 나도록 변환하는 기법에 대하여 제안한다. 제안하는 수채화 효과 변환 기법은 영상처리 분야에서 많이 사용하는 양방향 필터링(bilateral filtering)과 평균 이동 분할(mean shift segmentation)을 이용한다. 먼저 입력 영상을 스마트폰 화면 해상도로 크기 변환한 후 양방향 필터링을 이용하여 사진의 외곽선 부분은 보존하면서 고주파 성분을 약화시키도록 한다. 다음으로 양방향 필터링을 거친 영상에서 평균 이동분할을 수행하여 최종영상을 생성한다. 실험을 통하여 스마트폰의 연산속도를 고려한 평균 이동 분할의 파라미터 값을 설정하여 다양한 사진에 대하여 수채화 효과가 잘 나타나는 것을 확인하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 영상처리에서 많이 사용하는 양방향 필터링(bilateral filtering)과 평균 이동 분할(mean shift segmentation)을 이용하여 일반적인 사진을 수채화 효과가 나도록 하는 리터칭 기법에 대하여 제안한다. 먼저 양방향 필터링을 이용하여 사진의 외곽선 부분은 보존하면서 고주파 성분을 약화시키도록 한다. 그리고 양방향 필터링된 영상에서 각각 DoG(Difference of Gradient) 에지 추출과 평균 이동 분할을 수행한다. 이때 DoG 에지 추출은 원영상의 RGB 색상 공간을 CIELAB 공간으로 변환 후 휘도(luminance) 성분만 이용하여 추출하도록 하며 두 결과를 결합하여 최종 영상을 생성한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 기법으로 다양한 사진에 대하여 실험한 결과 수채화 효과가 잘 나타나는 것을 확인하였으며 특히 주광에서 촬영한 풍경 사진들에 대하여 보다 우수한 성능을 보임을 확인하였다.

광학적 수형의 디지털 시각화를 이용한 수색분석 (Analyzing Optical Water Type Using Digital Visualization)

  • This study investigated the optical characterization of water types based on Jerlov's classification, employing the CIE colorimetric system. Digital visualization techniques were applied to articulate watercolor manifestations intuitively. The L* luminance parameter exhibited a discernible reduction from optical water type I III and from type 1 to 9, registering a range between 66 and 84. Analysis of color attributes in each optical water type revealed that in the transition from type I to III, the color a* values spanned from -7.43 to -8.32, while color b* values ranged from -2.97 to -3.33. a* values for optical water types 1 to 9 varied between -6.28 and -10.50, with corresponding b* values ranging from -2.51 to -4.20. Consequently, optical water type I, IA, IB, II, and III were discretely categorized by independent color values, as were optical water types 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9. The digitized representation of watercolor in this inquiry facilitated comprehensive information asso,o;atopm. The study highlights limitations in Jerlov's classification for representing watercolors in different ocean conditions. It emphasized the need to collect color data from various marine areas and formulate a novel color standard or method for comparing colors.

An Analytical Study on the Visual Innovation of the Animation <Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse>

  • This study focuses on the art style research of the 3D Animation <Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse>, exploring the film's innovation in art design. The article first analyzes how the movie skillfully blends American comics, watercolor painting style, Pollock drip painting, and ink painting, among other artistic techniques, to present a unique visual experience for the audience. By specifically dissecting the character design and scene composition in the movie, it explores the specific application of these art styles and their methods in digital image production. Ultimately, the paper emphasizes the contribution of <Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse> to 3D Animated cinema, particularly its innovation in the field of art design, as well as its inspiration and possibilities for the diversity of art styles in animated films. Overall, this study aims to provide in-depth academic insight into the field of animated film art design and to promote its development and innovation.
