방사광 차단용 진공부품의 냉각수 누설 특성 (Characteristics of Water Leakage from Cooling Components in a Storage Ring)

  • 포항가속기연구소 저장링에 설치된 방사광 차단용 진공부품에서 냉각수가 누설되었을 때의 진공도 분포, 압력 변화, 잔류 기체의 변화 등을 측정하여 그 특성을 분석하였다. 냉각수 누설 시에 압력 상승은 국부적으로 나타났으며 잔류 기체의 변화 양상은 누설 위치로부터 잔류기체 분석기까지 거리와 이온펌프 및 전자빔의 On/Off에 따라서 크게 달랐으며 특정 기체의 선택적 상승도 나타났다. 냉각수 누설의 발견은 전압변화 측정으로 가능하였으며 잔류기체 분석기로는 물분자를 직접 측정하기보다는 $CH_4$, CO, NO 등 특성 기체의 증가를 분석함으로 누설 여부를 판단할 수 있었다.

Experimental investigations on the failure modes of ring-stiffened cylinders under external hydrostatic pressure

  • This paper reports on the experimental investigations on the failure modes of ring-stiffened cylinder models subjected to external hydrostatic pressure. Nine models were welded from general structural steel. The shells were initially formed by cold-rolling, and flat-bar ring frames were welded to the shell. The hydrostatic pressure tests were conducted by using water as the medium in pressure chambers. The details of the preparation and main test were briefly explained. The investigation identified the consequence of the structural failure modes, including: shell yielding, local shell buckling between ring stiffeners, overall buckling of the shell together with the stiffeners, and interactive buckling mode combining local and overall buckling. In addition, the ultimate strengths were predicted by using existing design codes. Non-linear numerical computations were also conducted by employing the actual imperfection coordinates. Finally, accuracy and reliability of the predictions of design formulae and numerical were substantiated with the test results.

지중매설 폴리에틸렌 관의 단기거동 예측 (Prediction of Short-term Behavior of Buried Polyethylene Pipe)

  • Flexible pipes take advantage of their ability to move, or deflect, under loads without structural damage. Common types of flexible pipes are manufactured from polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), steel, glass fiber reinforced thermosetting polymer plastic (GFRP), and aluminum. In this paper, we present the result of an investigation pertaining to the short-term behavior of buried polyethylene pipe. The mechanical properties of the polyethylene pipe produced in the domestic manufacturer are determined and the results are reported in this paper. In addition, vertical ring deflection is measured by the laboratory model test and the finite element analysis (FEA) is also conducted to simulate the short-term behavior of polyethylene pipe buried underground. Based on results from soil-pipe interaction finite element analyses of polyethylene pipe is used to predict the vertical ring deflection and maximum bending strain of polyethylene pipe.

  • 일반적으로 일차원 압밀상태에 있는 정지토압계수 $K_0$값은 삼축시험에서 구해지지만, 압밀중의 간극수의 흐름이 방사류이고, 공시체의 변형이 3차원적이므로, 얻어진 값의 신뢰성에는 의문이 있다. 여기서는, 일차원 압밀시험기를 개량하여, 압밀링 중앙높이에 배치한 압밀링 요소를 토압감지부로 하며, 감지부 중앙에서는 간극수압을 측정하였다. 내경 6cm의 압밀링은 부동(浮動)링 형식으로 높이 4cm의 공시체 중앙높이가 항상 같은 위치를 유지하는 구조이다. 직경 6cm의 공시체와 샘플링후 시료변형을 고려한 압밀링 내경보다 직경이 약간 작은 공시체에서 얻은 압밀종료시의 $K_0$값은 공시체직경과 압밀압력에 상관없이 거의 0.5를 나타내었다.

  • In this paper, the friction and wear characteristics of contact type sealing unit far a water turbine have been presented. The sealing unit for a small hydropower generation is to stop a leakage of circulating water from an outside of an impeller to an inside of a rolling bearing. The friction heating between a seal ring and a seal seat may radically increase a surface temperature in which increase a power loss and wear on the rubbing surface. The surface wear strongly affect to the seal life of a mechanical face seal. In this study, the hardness of a stainless steel in which is a heat-treated is 892.8 in Victors hardness and the hardness of silicone carbide of SiC is 714.1 in Victors hardness. The surface hardness of a heat-treated stainless steel is 25% high compared with that of a ceramic material of SiC. The contact modes of rubbing surfaces are a dry friction, a water film friction and a mixed friction that is contaminated by a dust, silt, and moistures, etc. These two factors of a contact rubbing modes and a material property are very important parameters on the tribological performance such as a friction and wear between a seal ring and a seal seat in primary sealing unit. The experimental result shows that the surface hardness of a seal material is very important on the friction coefficient and a wear volume. Thus, the results recommend higher hardness of a seal material, which may reduce a friction loss and increase a wear life of primary seal components.

하중저감 링이 없는 증기분사기를 통해 수조로 방출되는 기포 거동에 대한 수치해석 (Numerical Simulation on the Behavior of Air Bubble Discharging into a Water Pool through a Sparger without Load Reduction Ring)

  • 안전감압계통 작동시 수조에서 발생하는 공기 기포군의 진동 하중을 줄이기 위해 ABB-Atom sparger에 는 하중저감 링이 설치되어 있다. 하중저감 링이 압력장에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해, 본 연구에서는 하중저감 링이 없는 ABB-Atom sparger를 통해 수조 내로 방출되는 공기 기포군의 진동에 대한 수치해석을 상용 열수력 해석 코드인 FLUENT 4.5를 사용하여 수행하였다. 코드에 내재된 다상유동 모델 중 VOF(Volume Of Fluid)모델을 사용하여 물, 공기 및 증기 유동을 모의하였다. 해석결과를 기존의 해석결과와 비교하여 하중저감 링은 벽면 압력 하중을 줄이는 효과가 있음을 확인하였다. 아울러 배관내의 공기량과 배관 입구 조건이 벽면 압력 진동에 미치는 영향도 분석하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 액체로켓엔진용 160 kW급 터보펌프의 터빈을 구동하고, 액체산소와 케로신을 추진제로 사용하는 연료 과잉 가스발생기의 설계점 연소성능시험 결과에 대해 논의하였다. 충돌형 F-O-F 분사기로 구성된 헤드부, 물냉각 채널 연소실, torch igniter, turbulence ring 그리고 측정 링을 갖는 가스발생기에 대해 기술하였고, 설계점에서의 연소시험 및 turbulence ring 장착여부. 연소실 길이 변화에 따른 연소시험의 결과들에 대해 기술하였다. 연소시험 결과 가스발생기는 설계점에서 안정된 작동성을 보여주었고. 연소압력 및 온도 등의 성능은 예측치에 근접하는 결과였다. Turbulence ring은 출구에서의 가스온도를 균일하게 분포시켜 효과적인 혼합 장치임을 보여 주었고, 4∼6msec 정도에서의 연소가스 잔류시간은 연소효율에 큰 영향을 주지 않았다. 가스발생기 출구에서의 온도는 공급되는 추진제의 O/F ratio에 따라 매우 민감하게 변화하였다.

A Study on an Analysis and Design of the Internal Structure of Heumgyeonggak-nu

  • In this study, the internal structure of a Heumgyeonggak-nu (欽敬閣漏) was designed, and the power transmission mechanism was analyzed. Heumgyeonggak-nu is an automated water clock from the Joseon Dynasty that was installed within Heumgyeonggak (欽敬閣), and it was manufactured in the $20^{th}$ year of the reign of King Sejong (1438). As descriptions of Heumgyeonggak-nu in ancient literature have mostly focused on its external shape, the study of its internal mechanism has been difficult. A detailed analysis of the literature record on Heumgyeonggak-nu (e.g., The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty) indicates that Heumgyeonggak-nu had a three-stage water clock, included a waterfall or tilting vessel (欹器) using the overflowed water, and displayed the time using a ball. In this study, the Cheonhyeong apparatus, water wheel, scoop, and various mechanism wheels were designed so that 16 fixed-type scoops could operate at a constant speed for the water wheel with a diameter of 100 cm. As the scoop can contain 1.25 l of water and the water wheel rotates 61 times a day, a total of 1,220 l of water is required. Also, the power gear wheel was designed as a 366-tooth gear, which supported the operation of the time signal gear wheel. To implement the movement of stars on the celestial sphere, the rotation ratio of the celestial gear wheel to the diurnal motion gear ring was set to 366:365. In addition, to operate the sun movement apparatus on the ecliptic, a gear device was installed on the South Pole axis. It is expected that the results of this study can be used for the manufacture and restoration of the operation model of Heumgyeonggak-nu.

Lightweight Self-consolidating Concrete with Expanded Shale Aggregates: Modelling and Optimization

  • This paper presents statistical models developed to study the influence of key mix design parameters on the properties of lightweight self-consolidating concrete (LWSCC) with expanded shale (ESH) aggregates. Twenty LWSCC mixtures are designed and tested, where responses (properties) are evaluated to analyze influence of mix design parameters and develop the models. Such responses included slump flow diameter, V-funnel flow time, J-ring flow diameter, J-ring height difference, L-box ratio, filling capacity, sieve segregation, unit weight and compressive strength. The developed models are valid for mixes with 0.30-0.40 water-to-binder ratio, high range water reducing admixture of 0.3-1.2 % (by total content of binder) and total binder content of $410-550kg/m^3$. The models are able to identify the influential mix design parameters and their interactions which can be useful to reduce the test protocol needed for proportioning of LWSCCs. Three industrial class ESH-LWSCC mixtures are developed using statistical models and their performance is validated through test results with good agreement. The developed ESH-LWSCC mixtures are able to satisfy the European EFNARC criteria for self-consolidating concrete.
