Establishment of calculation methodology and thermal analysis for the development of a water calorimeter

  • As an early stage in the development of a water calorimeter, this study established a computer simulation methodology for analyzing the thermal behavior of a water calorimeter based on radiation transport and energy deposition. As a result, this study developed a method wherein the energy deposition distribution, which is obtained by applying Monte Carlo methods in water calorimeters, is directly used as a heat source for the thermal analysis model. Based on the proposed method, heat transfer in a water vessel and the effect of thermistor self-heating were analyzed. Through an analysis of the water velocities with and without a water vessel, it was found that a water vessel can serve as a convection barrier. Furthermore, it was confirmed that when considering thermistor self-heating, the water temperature change at the thermistor location is 0.219 mK higher compared to that when the thermistor was not considered. Therefore, thermistor self-heating must be considered to analyze the thermal behavior of a water calorimeter more accurately.

  • The cold forging Process applies surface lubricant coating in order to smooth the friction during the cold forging process. Currently, most of the lubrication processes apply the zinc phosphate coating, which requires 11 steps and disposes sludge. But the water based lubrication process, which has been newly developed, takes 3 steps only and does not cause sludge. In this study, we present the optimal condition of water based lubrication for the cold forging of axle shaft by an experimental design method. Experimental results with minitab shall be able to predict the optimum water based lubricating conditions for the cold forging processes.

산화철 폐촉매로부터 수상 자성유체 제조방법 (Preparation of Water-based Magnetic Fluids with Spent Iron Oxide Catalyst)

  • 70% 이사의 결정질 마그키타이트를 함유한 산화철 폐촉매를 Attritor에서 미립화하고 계면활성제 종류별로 마그네타이트 미립자를 피복하여 물에 분산하므로 수상 자성유체를 제조하였다. Attritor를 사용하여 볼 : 시료 : 물의 중량비가 최적조건인 2000 : 100 : 100에서 60시간 동안 산화철 폐촉매를 미립화하고, 여기에 계면활성제 oleic acid 20 ml를 넣고 한시간 동안 가열한 후 물에 분산하므로 자화값이 22emu/g인 수상 자성유체를 제조하였다.

  • 대용량의 지리정보시스템에 저장된 자료에 대한 접근과 관리에 대한 복잡성을 해결하기 위하여 공간 자료와 비공간 자료에 대한 물리적이고 개념적인 사항들을 메타데이터로 구축하고 활용할 필요가 있다. 이에 따라 공간개체의 공간적 요소와 비공간적 요소를 함께 관리하는 지하수 관리시스템에서도 공간 개체에 대한 메타데이터의 구축이 필요하며 이러한 메타데이터 구축 시 개체수준의 메타데이터를 구축해야 한다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 DXF 포맷 중심의 Tile-based 지형도에 입력한 지하수의 메타정보를 개체기반 지하수관리시스템을 위한 메타데이터의 모델을 제시한다. 또한 메타데이터 모델에서 개체 수준과 자료집합 수준에서 메타데이터를 모델링하고 지하수관리시스템을 위한 메타데이터의 표준 명세를 제시한다.

분산형 물 인프라의 도시 하수관리 시스템 도입을 위한 기술적 발전방안 (Technical Advancements Needed for the Introduction of Distributed Water Infrastructure to Urban Wastewater Management Systems)

  • We are on the verge of paradigm shift for the design and operation of our urban water systems from treatment- and efficiency-based to recirculation- and sustainability-based. One of the most frequently suggested alternatives to embody this paradigm shift is to decentralize the currently highly centralized urban water infrastructure. However, claims for water infrastructure decentralization are often criticized due to poor economic feasibility, unstable performance, and unprofessional operation and maintenance. The current study critically reviews the literature to discuss the technical advancement needs to overcome such challenges. Firstly, decentralized water infrastructure was briefly defined and the rationale for the proposal of its introduction to the next-generation urban water systems was laid down. The main discussion focused on the following water technologies, which require special attention when working with decentralized water infrastructure: i) material collection, storage, and transport; ii) easily scalable water treatment; iii) sensor, information, and communications; and iv) system optimization. The principles, current development status, and challenges were discussed for each of the water technologies. The discussion on the water technologies has enabled the identification of future research needs for their application to the next-generation urban water systems which will be designed following decentralized water infrastructure. This paper will significantly improve the current understanding on water infrastructure decentralization and provides insight on future direction of water technology development.

오염총량평가를 위한 부하지속곡선 개발 및 적용 (Development of Load Duration Curve Methodology for TMDL Evaluation)

  • The major streams in South Korea have established the TMDL(Total Maximum Daily Loads) regulation for just 4 years. Traditional concepts in water quality management in South Korea are based upon the selection of a design streram flow which is 10-year averged flow exeedance probability 75%(Q275). That is, a single flow value based upon average long term flow conditions is chosen for application in dilution calculations, permit design, water quality modeling, etc. While these TMDLs seems to satisfy the requirement of the target water quality regulations, they have contributed little to any watershed/waterbody assessment and restoration plans. These types of TMDLs do little to characterize the problems the TMDLs are intended to address. For TMDLs to be more beneficial in the assessment and implementation process, TMDLs should reflect adequate water quality across flow conditions rather than at a single flow value such as average daily flow. In this paper, we developed LDC (load duration curve) methodology for theevaluation of Korean TMDL evaluation based on watershed scaled, physically based on SWAT(Soil and Water Assessment Tool) model.

머신러닝 기반 CFS(Correlation-based Feature Selection)기법과 Random Forest모델을 활용한 BMI(Benthic Macroinvertebrate Index) 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on the prediction of BMI(Benthic Macroinvertebrate Index) using Machine Learning Based CFS(Correlation-based Feature Selection) and Random Forest Model)

  • Recently, people have been attracting attention to the good quality of water resources as well as water welfare. to improve the quality of life. This study is a papers on the prediction of benthic macroinvertebrate index (BMI), which is a aquatic ecological health, using the machine learning based CFS (Correlation-based Feature Selection) method and the random forest model to compare the measured and predicted values of the BMI. The data collected from the Han River's branch for 10 years are extracted and utilized in 1312 data. Through the utilized data, Pearson correlation analysis showed a lack of correlation between single factor and BMI. The CFS method for multiple regression analysis was introduced. This study calculated 10 factors(water temperature, DO, electrical conductivity, turbidity, BOD, $NH_3-N$, T-N, $PO_4-P$, T-P, Average flow rate) that are considered to be related to the BMI. The random forest model was used based on the ten factors. In order to prove the validity of the model, $R^2$, %Difference, NSE (Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency) and RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) were used. Each factor was 0.9438, -0.997, and 0,992, and accuracy rate was 71.6% level. As a result, These results can suggest the future direction of water resource management and Pre-review function for water ecological prediction.
