해수의 광학적 성질에 관한 연구 ( IV ) - 한국남해안 - (Optical Properties of Sea Water ( IV ) - Coastal Waters of Southern Part of Korea -)

  • Optical properties were studied in the costal waters of the southern part of Korea based on twenty oceanographic stations from 1 st to 9 th February, 1977. Submarine daylight intensity was measured by using an underwater luxmeter (Toshiba No.9). Daylight intensity in the upper 30m depth layer was measured at 1 m depth interval. The absorption coefficient of the sea water in the area ranged from 0.101 to 2.539 (mean 0.578). The Secchi-disc depth in the area ranged from 0.8 to 13 meters (mean 5.33 meters). The relationship between absorption coefficient (K) and transparency (D) was k= 1. 704/ D. The mean water color in the area was 5. 75 (3-9) in Forel scales. The rates of light penetration for daylight at 1m layer in the area ranged from 13.18 to 82. 05% and the mean was 59.56%, while the rate at 5m layer ranged from 0.007 to 46.1% and the mean was 18.47%.

Synthesis of Cardo Based Poly(arylene ether)s for Flexible Plastic Substrates and Their Properties

  • New poly(arylene ether)s (PAEs) with both transparency and heat-resistance were prepared by a polycondensation of FBPODS, an ordered-sequence aromatic dihalide, and cardo typed aromatic diols containing fluorene and/or adamantane moiety and also non-cardo typed 1,5-naphthalene diol. The resulting polymers had their glass transition temperatures ranged from 202 to $247^{\circ}C$. Based on TGA data, they exhibited excellent thermal stabilities, showing 5% weight loss at $434-487^{\circ}C$. They had low thermal expansion coefficients of 58-59 ppm at temperature range of $50-200^{\circ}C$ as well as good mechanical properties with moduli of 1757-2143 MPa. The optical transmittance for the PAE films was over 70% at 550 nm, except for the PAE that contains naphthalene moiety (30% at 550 nm). They also showed water uptake of about 0.68% regardless of their chemical compositions. Therefore, the newly developed PAEs show strong potential as plastic substrates for flexible devices for display, solar cell and e-paper.

졸-겔법에 의한 PVA/Silica 하이브리드 필름의 제조 및 특성 (Properties and Preparation of PVA/Silica Hybrid Films by Sol-Gel Method)

  • Transparent films were prepared using the sol-gel process by mixing TEOS with PVA solution that was solved in EtOH and distilled water homogeneously. HCl, $CH_3COOH$ and $NH_4OH$ were used as catalysts of the sol-gel process, and for improving the flexibility of films glycerol was used as plasticizer. In case of each catalyst, transparency and tensile strength were increased, and glass transition temperature (Tg) was shifted to higher temperature with increasing TEOS ratio. Also, in case of adding the plasticizer, the flexibility of films was increased. On the contrary, transparency, thermal stability and tensile strength were decreased with increasing HCl and $NH_4OH$ ratio. Also, the range of being made of film type was expanded when $CH_3COOH$ was used than HCl and $NH_4OH$.

Assessing Commercial CLEANBOLUS Based on Silicone for Clinical Use

  • Purpose: We investigated the properties of CLEANBOLUS based on silicone with suitable characteristics for clinical use. Methods: We evaluated the characteristics of CLEANBOLUS and compared the results with the commercial product (Super-Flex bolus). Also, we conducted physical evaluations, including shore hardness, element composition, and elongation break. Transparency was investigated through the measured absorbance within the visible region (400-700 nm). Also, dosimetric characteristics were investigated with surface dose and beam quality. Finally, the volume of unwanted air gap was investigated based on computed tomography images for breast, chin, and nose using Super-Flex bolus and CELANBOLUS. Results: CLEANBOLUS showed excellent physical properties for a low shore hardness (000-35) and elongation break (>1,000%). Additionally, it was shown that CLEANBOLUS is more transparent than Super-Flex bolus. Dosimetric results obtained through measurement and calculation have an electron density similar to water in CLEANBOLUS. Finally, CLEANBOLUS showed that the volume of unwanted air gap between the phantom and each bolus is smaller than Super-Flex bolus for breast, chin, and nose. Conclusions: The physical properties of CLEANBOLUS, including excellent adhesive strength and lower shore hardness, reduce unwanted air gaps and ensure accurate dose distribution. Therefore, it would be an alternative to other boluses, thus improving clinical use efficiency.

Detection of low Salinity Water in the Northern East China Sea During Summer using Ocean Color Remote Sensing

  • In the summer of 1998-2001, a huge flood occurred in the Yangtze River in the eastern China. Low salinity water less than 28 psu from the river was detected around the southwestern part of the Jeju Island, which is located in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. We studied how to detect low salinity water from the Yangtze River, that cause a terrible damage to the Korean fisheries. We established a relationships between low salinity at surface, turbid water from the Yangtze River and digital ocean color remotely sensed data of SeaWiFS sensor in the northern East China Sea, in the summer of 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. The salinity charts of the northern East China Sea were created by regeneration of the satellite ocean color data using the empirical formula from the relationships between in situ low salinity, in situ measured turbid water with transparency and SeaWiFS ocean color data (normalized water leaving radiance of 490 nm/555 nm).

포장재를 달리한 마른 오징어의 저장중 색택 변화 (Color Changes of Dried Squid Differs in Packaging Films during Storage)

  • 마른 오징어를 실험실에서 직접 제조한 후 3종(투명, 흰색, 검정색)의 포장재에 포장하여 직사광선이 조사되는 상온조건(6월${\sim}$7월)에서 50일간 저장중 마른 오징어의 품질변화를 측정하였다. 저장 기간중 수분 함량 및 수분활성도의 변화는 극히 미미한 것으로 측정되었으며 총균수의 변화도 거의 변화가 없는 것으로 측정되어 수분 함량 및 미생물에 의한 마른 오징어의 품질변화가 거의 없는 것으로 생각되었다. 직시 색차계를 이용하여 저장중 마른 오징어의 색택 변화를 측정하였을 때 흰색, 검정색의 유색 포장재로 포장한 처리구의 경우 L값이 투명 포장재에 비하여 높게 측정되었으며 ${\Delta}E$값의 경우도 유사한 경향을 나타내었다. ${\Delta}E$ 값의 경우 저장 초기에 급속하게 증가하였으며 그 이후로는 완만하게 증가하는 경향이었다. TBA value를 측정하였을 경우 저장 초기에 급속하게 증가하였으며 그 이후로는 완만하게 감소하는 경향을 나타내어 마른 오징어의 갈색화는 저장 초기의 지질산화에 의해 진행되는 것으로 판단되었다. 또한 3종의 포장재에 대한 자외선 투과 실험 결과 흰색, 검정색의 포장재가 자외선 차단 효과가 있는 것으로 나타나 마른 오징어의 포장시 투명 포장재 보다는 유색포장재를 사용하는 것이 지질산화에 의한 갈변현상을 어느정도 억제할 수 있는 방법이라고 생각되었다.

  • Poly(ethylene-co-methylacrylate)(PEMA)를 KOH, 암모니아 수용액으로 가수분해, ammonolysis 시켜서 측기에 -COOK, $-CONH_2$, -COOH를 갖는 수분산 형태의 변성 폴리에틸렌(m-PE)을 제조하였다. Infrared spectroscopy, 원소 분석 및 atomic absorption 분석 등을 통하여 m-PE 측기의 종류 및 조성비를 조사하였으며 수분산액의 고형분 함량에 따른 점도 및 표면장력을 측정하였다. 제조된 수분산액은 측기의 조성에 따라 안정도, 투명도 등이 변화하였다. 측기 중에서 -COOK가 수분산에 가장 큰 영향을 주었으며 -COOK 조성비가 20 mol% 이상이 되어야 안정한 분산을 얻을 수 있었고 또한 -COOK 조성비가 높을수록 수분산액은 투명하였다. 동일 -COOK 조성비에서는 아마이드의 농도가 높을수록 탁도가 증가하여 친수성이 떨어짐을 알 수 있었다. 분산액의 고형분 함량에 따른 점도를 측정하면 -COOK 조성비가 클 경우 낮은 고형분 함량에서 급격한 점도 증가가 일어나 고분자 사슬사이의 얽힘이 쉽게 일어남을 알 수 있으며 표면장력은 -COOK 조성비가 클 경우 작은 값을 나타내었다.

수질오염 감시에의 활용을 위한 항공원격탐사의 적용연구 (Study of Airborne Remote Sensing for Water Quality Monitoring)

  • 최근 지구환경에 대한 관심이 고조됨에 따라 원격탐사자료의 보다 정밀한 정량적 해석을 위한 많은 시도가 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 고분해능 항공원격탐사자료를 이용하여 각종 수질오염 분포도를 작성하고자 하였다. 그 연구대상 지역은 합천댐이었으며 항공원격탐사자료를 이용한 클로로필-a, 수중 부유물 및 탁도 분포도가 작성되었다. 현장 수질분석자료가 10여개에 불과해 상관관계에 대한 단정적인 결론을 내리기는 매우 불충분하다고 판단되나 작성된 각종 분포도들이 수질 분석결과와 비교적 비슷한 양상으로 나타나므로 일단 그 기본적인 처리기법 및 앞으로의 활용가능성은 보여주고 있다고 할 수 있다. 수질오염을 나타내는 각종 수질관련 지수와 원격탐사자료와의 관련성을 신뢰할 수 있을 정도로 규명하기 위해서는 매우 많은 자료의 축적이 필요하며 국내의 수자원의 오염상태에 따른 표준적 샘플에 대한 많은 분광특성연구가 선행되어야 할 것으로 생각된다.

Detection of low salinity water in the northern East China Sea in summer using ocean color remote sensing

  • In summer season of 1998, a huge flood occurred around the Yangtze River in the eastern China. We got the relationships between low surface salinity, turbid water from the Yangtze River and digital ocean color using remote sensing of SeaWiFS satellite in the northern East China Sea in summer seanson of 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. The charts of salinity in the northern East China Sea were made by the regenerating of the satellite ocean color data with the formula from the relationships between low salinity, in situ turbid water (transparency) and satellite ocean color.
