  • Formation of the complexes of alkaline earth metal ions with malonate and o-phthalate ions in aqueous, ethanol-water and acetone-water solutions (20% by volume) was studied at room temperature by the equilibrium ion exchange technique. This technique involved the measurements of distribution of radioactivity between cation exchange resin(Ion Exchange Resin CGC 241) and solution phases after the radioactive metal ions were equilibriated with the cation exchange resin in the presence of malonate or o-phthalate ions of varying concentrations. The pH of the solutions was controlled to 7.2~7.5, and the ionic strength of the solutions was kept at 0.10~0.11. The results of the present study indicated that the alkaline earth metal ions formed one-to-one complexes with the dibasic organic acids in all solvent systems examined. The present study showed that the relative stabilities of the complexes increased in the order: $Ba^{++}\;<\;Sr^{++}\;<\;Ca^{++}$ complexes. It was also observed that the relative tendency of the o-phthalate ion for the complex formation was somewhat greater than that of malonate ion in each solvent system. Furthermore, it was noted that the complexes were formed more readily in the mixed solvent than in the aqueous solution.

  • To determinate the content of acanthoic acid and kaurenoic acid in 70% EtOH and hot water extracts of Eleutherococcus gracilistylus, quantitative analysis of each compound in samples was carried out by a HPLC-UVD. Also, the identification of each acompound in samples was successfully assigned by LC-MS analysis. In result, the contents of acanthoic acid and kaurenoic acid in 70% ethanoic extracts were 28.84±0.21 mg/g (2.88%), 26.38±1.63 mg/g (2.64%), respectively. However, the content of two compounds in hot-water extracts was not observed. In conclusion, it shows that 70% ethanol as a best extraction solvent to extract the acanthoic acid and its metabolite from Eleutherococcus gracilistylus was better than hot-water solvent. The 70% ethanol complex extract of Allium Hookeri and Eleutherococcus gracilistylus showed better effectiveness. In addition, the 70% ethanol extract complex of Allium Hookeri and Eleutherococcus gracilistylus showed better effects than the hot water solvent of DPPH radical scavenging ability, total polyphenols, and flavonoids content. The anti-inflammatory activity were significantly or partially reduced by treatment with ethanol extract complex(SEC) by Allium Hookeri and Eleutherococcus gracilistylus.

  • We develop the performance improving agent of penetration reinforcing applied on concrete by which main components use compounds of metal alkoxide and silicate(Ti). Also, we investigate on the type and amount of organic solvent which need the hydrolysis and water condensation reaction of Ti. The penetration reinforcing agent developed this study can penetrate deeper than 50mm without relation to concrete strength. Also the performance improving agent composed of the combination of Ti and organic solvent A, improve performance in keeping out or removement of deterioration material. waterproof and strength.

  • The dissociation constant of phenol red indicator in mixed solvents was studied. Methanol and ethanol were employed as solvents and studied the changes of pK values of indicator according to the kind and concentration of organic solvent which is mixed into water solution. The effect of methanol solvent on pK is negligible at 40%, 60% and 80% mixing. While in the case of ethanol, the effect of above 40% mixing is not negligible.

  • Calcium carbonate fine powders were synthesized by blowing CO2 gas in CaO or Ca(OH)2 suspension, and the shapes of powders obtained were examined for each synthetic condition. When water was used as a solvent, ultrafine calcite powders with the average size of∼0.03$\mu\textrm{m}$ were obtained. When synthesized using methanol as a solvent, amorphous phase and spherical vaterite phase were obtained by suction filtering and non-filtering, respectively. Reaction did not occured in ethanol medium, but spherical vaterite phase was obtained by adding ethylene glycol in ethanol.

  • Organic solvent-based enteric coating technology using hydroxypropyl methylcellulose phthalate (HPMCP) has been developed for many years due to low water solubility of HPMCP. In this work, aqueous HPMCP nanoparticles (HPMCP-NPs) were prepared by neutralization emulsification method using HPMCP powder and ammonium hydroxide (NH40H) in the absence of any organic solvent and emulsifier. • The present study was conducted to investigate extraction characteristics and antioxidative activity of Lycium chinense extracts. Lycium chinense were extracted by reflux extraction(RE) under different extraction conditions including solvent. The solid yield, turbidity, color value, titratable acidity, free sugar contents, electron donating ability(EDA) and superoxide dismutase(SOD)-like ability of Lycium chinense extracts were determined. The highest solid yield value were obtained with water of 10 fold. No significant difference in turbidity and color value were found among the extracts prepared with various extraction solvents, 75$\%$ ethanol, 50$\%$ ethanol and water. The highest titratable acidity were obtained with water of Lycium chinense. The free sugar contents of Lycium chinense extracted with water showed the highest value. Lycium chinense extracts with water included higher contents of free sugar compared with those of the other solvent extracts, 50$\%$ ethanol and 75$\%$ ethanol extracts. The total polyphenol compounds content of Lycium chinense extracted with 50% ethanol showed the highest value. Lycium chinense extracts with 50$\%$ ethanol included higher contents of total polyphenol compound compared with those of the other solvent extracts, water and 75$\%$ ethanol extracts.

  • In this study, gemcitabine-loaded methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(L-lactide) (MPEG-PLLA) microparticles with different PEG block lengths were prepared by a W/O/W double emulsion technique. The present study focuses on the investigation of the influence of various preparative parameters such as the ratio of internal water phase and oil phase, polymer concentration, solvent composition of organic phase and salt concentration of external water phase on the morphology and encapsulation efficiency of the microparticles. The microparticles fabricated at high volume ratios of internal water phase to oil phase and at high polymer concentrations showed a relatively high encapsulation efficiency and low porosity. When a dichloromethane/ethyl acetate mixture was used as solvent, both the encapsulation efficiency and drug loading of the microparticles decreased as the level of ethyl acetate increased. The addition of a salt (NaCl) to the external water phase significantly improved the encapsulation efficiency up to 40%, and the microparticles became more spherical with their size and porosity decreased.

  • The solvolysis of 1-naphthalene-and 2-naphthalenesulfonyl chlorides in acetone-water mixtures have been studied by means of conductometry. The solvent effect and mechanism have been discussed in terms of variation in solvent composition and activation parameters. The reaction was predominantly $S_N2$ type, but bond breaking increased with the increase of water content. The rate constant for 1-naphthyl compound was smaller than that of 2-naphthyl compound due to the ground state stabilization effect and peri-hydrogen effect, and the latter effect was similar to that in ethanol-water mixtures.
