  • The groundwater level varies according to the characteristics and composite materials of aquifer. In this study, specific yield and reaction factor which are the major two hydrogeological parameters in the WTF(Water Table Fluctuation) method were estimated and analyzed spatial characteristics. 8 groundwater level stations which have enough measuring period and high correlation with rainfall in the Hancheon watershed were used. The results showed that specific yield was randomly distributed and reaction factor showed inverse trend with altitude. If the enough data were collected, reaction factor according to altitude in ungauged points could be estimated by using these parameter characteristics.

  • Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of water restriction (WR) on physiological and blood parameters in lactating dairy cows reared under Mediterranean climate. Methods: The trial lasted 16 days preceded by two weeks of adaptation to the experimental condition in spring 2014 on 6 dairy cows in mid-lactation. These cows were allowed water ad libitum for 4 days (W100) (hydration period), then split into 2 groups, one group has received 25% and the other 50% of water compared to their mean water consumption during the hydration period; then rehydrated for 4 days. Feed intake and physiological parameters: respiratory rate (RR), heart rate (HR), and rectal temperature (RT) were recorded twice a day. Blood was collected once a day and analyzed for serum concentration of glucose (Glc), triglycerides (TG), cholesterol (Chol), urea (Ur), creatinine (Crea), and total protein (TP) by enzymatic colorimetric method and cortisol (Cort) by radioimmunoassay. Results: Total dry matter intake (TDMI) was affected by WR. A decrease in TDMI was observed in WR groups compared to W100 group (effect, group, period, day, $group{\times}day$, $period{\times}day$: p<0.001). Also, WR resulted in a significant increase in RR, HR, RT in WR groups than in W100 group (effect, group: p<0.001). In addition, an increase in the serum concentration of Glc, TG, Chol, Ur, Crea, TP, and Cort was noted in WR groups (effect, group, period, day: p<0.001). Conclusion: This study has shown the ability of cows raised in a Mediterranean climate to cope with different levels of WR and thus reach a new equilibrium. As result, elucidates the important role of water as a limiting factor for livestock in environments with low water availability.

  • The present study has been experimentally investigated the effect of geometric and operating parameters on the two-phase flow distribution of refrigerants in a horizontal T-junction. The operating parameters were the kind of refrigerants (R-22, R- l34a, and R-410A), saturated temperature, and the inlet mass flux and quality. The geometric parameters were the tube diameter and the tube diameter ratio. The measured data of refrigerants were compared with the values predicted using the models developed by several researchers for air/water or steani/water two-phase flow. Among the operating parameters, the inlet Quality was the most sensitive to the mass flow rate ratio. Between the geometric parameters, the tube diameter ratio was more sensitive than tube diameter.

  • A parametric study on the scroll wrap configuration factors of a $CO_2$scroll compressor for heat pump water heater has been carried out. Since there are 7 scroll wrap design parameters and 5 equations relating them, two of the design parameters can be selected as independent parameters. In this study, the wrap thickness and orbiting radius are chosen as independent ones. Computer simulation program has been used to estimate the compressor performance at various combinations of the scroll wrap design parameters. It has been found that there exists optimum combination of the wrap parameters for the highest compressor performance over analyzed ranges of the design parameters.

  • The purpose of thes study is to estimate the parameters of linear reservoir models in order to derive the instantaneous unit hydrograph from a given small experimental watershed. The linear reservoir model is a conceptual model, consisting of cascade or parallel equal linear reservoirs, preceded by a linear channel which involved NASH, SLR(single linear reservoir)and 2-PLR(two-parallel linear reservoir)model. The NASH model have two parameters N and K, single linear reservoir has one parameter K1 and two-parallel linear reservoirs have two parameters K1, K2;where N denote the number of reservoirs and K is the storage coefficient of each reservoirs.

  • Model parameters of the WASP5 applied to Saemanguem lake were estimated. The methodology is based on grouping water quality constituents and relevant parameters and successively estimating each group of parameters by a trial-and-error procedure. Chlorophyll-a, nitrogen cycles, phosphorus cycles, BOD and DO were simulated at the complexity level 4. The Saemangeum basin divided into a number of unit sub-watershed. And a water budget model analysis with 22 years from 1975 to 1996 year was examined. In this paper, input data at upstream boundaries of model was made to determine seasonally-averaged flow rate through water budget analysis. Calibration and verification of the model were used seasonal average of water quality measurements in 1997 and 1998 years. Grouping water quality constituents and associated parameters proved to be efficient in estimating a number of model parameters. From the results of model calibration and verification, it was found that quantitative evaluations of nonpoint source for organic matters are essential.

  • This study aimed to predict total phosphorus (T-P) to address early eutrophication caused by nutrient influx from various human activities. Traditional T-P monitoring systems are labor-intensive and time-consuming, leading to a global trend of using direct reading sensors. Therefore, this study utilized water quality parameters obtained from direct reading sensors in a two-stage T-P prediction process. The importance of turbidity (Tur) in T-P prediction was examined, and an analysis was conducted to determine if T-P prediction is possible using only direct reading sensor parameters by adding automatic water quality analyzer parameters. The study found that T-P concentrations were higher in the mid-lower reaches of the Nakdong River basin compared to the upper reaches. Pearson correlation analysis identified water quality parameters highly correlated with T-P at each site, which were then used in multiple linear regression analysis to predict T-P. The analysis was conducted with and without the inclusion of Tur, and the performance of models incorporating automatic water quality analyzer parameters was compared with those using only direct reading sensor parameters. The results confirmed the significance of Tur in T-P prediction, suggesting that it can be used as a foundational element in the development of measures to prevent eutrophication.

  • Several computer programs have been developed to make stochastically generated weather data from observed daily data. But they require fully dataset to run WGEN. Mostly, meterological data frequently have sporadic missing data as well as totally missing data. The modified WGEN has data filling algorithm for incomplete meterological datasets. Any other WGEN models have not the function of data filling. Modified WGEN with data filling algorithm is processing from the equation of Matalas for first order autoregressive process on a multi dimensional state with known cross and auto correlations among state variables. The parameters of the equation of Matalas are derived from existing dataset and derived parameters are adopted to fill data. In case of WGEN (Richardson and Wright, 1984), it is one of most widely used weather generators. But it has to be modified and added. It uses an exponential distribution to generate precipitation amounts. An exponential distribution is easier to describe the distribution of precipitation amounts. But precipitation data with using exponential distribution has not been expressed well. In this paper, generated precipitation data from WGEN and Modified WGEN were compared with corresponding measured data as statistic parameters. The modified WGEN adopted a formula of CLIGEN for WEPP (Water Erosion Prediction Project) in USDA in 1985. In this paper, the result of other parameters except precipitation is not introduced. It will be introduced through study of verification and review soon

  • To consider effects of essential parameters of water impact pressure on dynamic structural responses of bow bottom structures, a parametric study for a ship bottom panel is carried out. The idealized pressure time history models were assumed by triangular and rectangular shapes in time domain. The main loading parameters are duration time and peak pressure value maintaining the same impulse value. The structural models for local bottom stiffened panels of a container ship are analysed. The natural frequency analysis and transient dynamic response analysis are performed using MSC/NASTRAN. Added mass effects of contacting water are considered and the pressure distributions are assumed to be uniform in the whole water contacting surface. The effects of loading parameters on the structural responses, especially maximum displacements, are considered. Besides the peak pressure value, effects of duration time correlated with natural frequencies are thought to be the important parameters.
