사무소건물의 용도 및 측정기간에 따른 에너지 소비 특성 (Characteristics of Energy Consumption in an Office Building located in Seoul)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the characteristics and actual state of energy consumption by the analysis of energy consumption data in an office building. This study examines and analyzes daily and monthly energy consumption of an office building located in Seoul, Korea regarding type of load and business classification within a building. The results are as follows. 1) Energy consumption of office building for each type of load show similar consumption patterns, regardless of seasons such as cooling period and heating period. 2) Out of all annual energy consumption, consumption for lighting took about $43\;\%,$ general electric Power about $23\;\%,$ emergency power $25\;\%,$ computer center $5\;\%$ and cooling power $4\;\%,$ showing that the consumption for lighting was highest, and the percentage of energy consumption for cooling power for operation of cooling facilities took the lowest percentage. 3) Annual gas consumption used for heating and hot water supply were $38,\;36\;\%$ for officetel and office respectively, and $26\;\%$ for arcade. 4) Electricity consumptions used for cooling power for each use of building, office and officetel recorded in July and August of cooling seasons. Even though it shows different patterns for each month, energy consumption showed unique pattern throughout the cooling seasons.

엔진 냉각수 유량 단속에 의한 디젤 차량의 연비 및 배기가스 특성 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Fuel Consumption and Emissions of Diesel Vehicles Using Engine Coolant Flow Rate On/Off Control)

  • 내연기관 차량에 전자기식 클러치 워터펌프의 적용은 연비 향상 및 배기가스 저감을 꾀할 수 있다. 이러한 클러치 워터펌프는 엔진 냉각시스템의 유량 단속에 의하여 최적 운전 조건을 가능케 한다. 본 연구에서는 클러치 워터펌프를 이용한 냉각시스템을 제어함으로써 디젤 차량의 연비 및 배기가스 특성을 살펴보았다. 전자기식 클러치 워터펌프에 의한 저온 시동시 냉각수 흐름을 차단하여 아이들 조건에서 예열 시간을 기존 워터펌프 대비 49% 정도 단축시켰고, 주행 중에는 냉각수가 최적 고온상태를 유지하도록 제어하였다. 그리하여 NEDC 모드에서 연소 효율이 개선되어 최대 5% 정도의 연비 향상 효과를 나타내었다. 또한 NOx를 제외한 HC, CO 및 $CO_2$ 배기가스의 농도가 전반적으로 감소하였다.

Predicting Daily Nutrient Water Consumption by Strawberry Plants in a Greenhouse Environment

  • Food consumption is growing worldwide every year owing to a growing population. Hence, the increasing population needs the production of sufficient and good quality food products. Strawberry is one of the world's most famous fruit. To obtain the highest strawberry output, we worked with three strawberry varieties supplied with three kinds of nutrient water in a greenhouse and with the outcome of the strawberry production, the highest yielding strawberry variety is detected. This Study uses the nutrient water consumed every day by the highest yielding strawberry variety. The atmospheric temperature, humidity and CO2 levels within the greenhouse are identified and used for the prediction, since the water consumption by any plant depends primarily on weather conditions. Machine learning techniques show successful outcomes in a multitude of issues including time series and regression issues. In this study, daily nutrient water consumption of strawberry plants is predicted using machine learning algorithms is proposed. Four Machine learning algorithms are used such as Linear Regression (LR), K nearest neighbour (KNN), Support Vector Machine with Radial Kernel (SVM) and Gradient Boosting Machine (GBM). Gradient Boosting System produces the best results.

미분무수 첨가제의 소화효과 비교 (Comparison of Fire Extinguishing Effects for Water Mist Additives)

  • In order to improve extinguishing performance of water mist, many studies of additives have been conducted. In this study, viscosity agent which has the ability to improve extinguishing performance by adhering to the surface on fire was used and fluorine-free surfactant was also added to water to enhance water's wetting ability. This study aimed to verify optimal concentration of extinguishing of additives according to fire source and extinguishing performance by comparison with pure water. In case of wood crib fire, the results show that flame suppression and extinguishing time of sodium alginate 0.4 wt.% are 3.4 times and 2.2 times shorter than those of pure water in 0.2 MPa respectively. It seems that large amount of water adhere to surface on fire, thus cooling effect on surface was enhanced. Also water consumption of sodium alginate 0.4wt.% is up to 65% lower than that of pure water. In case of heptane fire, extinguishing time of cocobetaine 0.1 wt.% is 9.7 times shorter than that of pure water in 0.2 MPa. It is thought that because cocobetaine can block oxygen and suppress oil mist by making emulsion film on fire surface due to a low surface tension. On the other hand, water consumption of cocobetaine 0.1 wt.% is 92% lower than that of pure water.

In Vivo Effects of Lead on Erythrocytes Following Chronic Exposure through Drinking Water

  • More than 95% of lead, a environmental heavy metal, entering into blood accumulates in erythrocytes suggesting erythrocytes as an important target of lead toxicity. Recent studies reported that erythrocytes could contribute to blood coagulation via phosphatidylserine (PS) exposure in erythrocytes. However, in vivo effects of chronic lead exposure especially by drink-ing water on procoagulant activity of erythrocytes have not been studied yet. In the present study, we investigated the effects of chronic exposure of lead by drinking water on erythrocytes in rats. Groups of 40 male rats were provided with drinking water containing various concentrations of lead for 4 weeks and complete blood cell count, procoagulant activities of erythrocytes and platelets were evaluated with basic inspections on body weight and food/water consumption. The administration of lead containing drinking water increased the blood lead level (BLL) in a dose-dependent manner up to $22.39{\pm}2.26\;{\mu}g/dL$. Water consumption was significantly decreased while food consumption or body weight gain was not affected. In contrast to the previous findings with acute lead exposure, chronic lead exposure failed to increase PS exposure in erythrocytes with statistical significance although some trends of enhancement were observed. It implies that a certain adaptation might have happened in body during repeated exposure to lead, resulting in attenuation of PS exposure. With this study, we believe that a valuable information was provided for the study on the toxicological significance and the risk assessment of lead contaminated drinking water.

  • The physiological functions of drinking water in chicken were reviewed. The effects of ambient temperature, humidity, wind velocity, egg productivity, feed form, nutrients density, and breed types on the water consumption of chicken were summarized and discussed. Some guidelines for management of drinking water in commercial poultry farms were also suggested.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation/Water Injection Experimental Results for NOx Emission Reduction in Diesel Engine

  • This paper presents the static characteristics of EGR-WI combined system. The water injection system was statically characterized by recording the engine exhaust outlet $NO_x$ emissions for comparison with baseline $NO_x$ emissions. Effects of the water injection system on CO and HC emissions and fuel consumption were examined. The research engine used for these experiments was a 103 kW turbocharged, intercooled, 2.5 L VM Motori CIDI engine equipped with a cooled EGR system. Water injection in the intake system demonstrated the potential for significant reductions in engine outlet $NO_x$ emissions. The system has reduced engine outlet $NO_x$ emissions by 40-50%, but caused significant increases in CO and HC emissions, particularly at low loads. Fuel consumption effects were minimal.

  • Recently, energy excessive consumption and environmental pollution are the social issued. The most efficient way to solve both energy excessive consumption and environmental pollution is existing combustion system improved. This study was part of the assume and commercial used existing waste heat recovery condensing boiler to low emission performance for exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) and thermal efficiency rise by applying the condensed water recirculation(CWR) conducted. The researchers applied the EGR and CWR develop a new concept for the condensed water recirculation waste heat recovery condensing boiler. Waste heat recovery condensing boiler applied to the condensed water recirculation thermal efficiency of the same conditions was increased by about 4.8~5.5% and pollution emission also decreased.

  • The Effects of hot water supply temperature on indoor thermal characteristics for floor radiant heating system in residential apartment were researched by computer simulation. The parametric study on hot water supply temperatures with different outdoor air temperatures was done with regard to energy performance and control characteristics, respectively. As a result, the maximum overshoot of indoor air temperature and energy consumption were reduced by adjusting the hot water supply temperatures with outdoor air temperatures.

스마트TV를 이용한 공동주택의 에너지 사용 모니터링 시스템 (A Monitoring System of Energy Usage for Apartment Houses Using Smart TV)

  • This paper presents the necessary elements and data flow in developing a monitoring system of energy usage for apartment houses with a Smart TV. Energy consumption data in each home are collected and analyzed in the HUB station by way of measuring instruments. And the amount of energy usage, such as electricity, gas, hot water, heating, water and other utilities are displayed through the Smart TV application. Energy consumption Database in the HUB station are processed and displayed in the browser of a Smart TV through XML, JAVASCRIPT and Flash. Smart TV users can get the energy consumption status through the energy consumption analysis display of the Smart TV application and improve the energy efficiency by comparing the usage patterns with neighboring houses. And the application display energy usage information, consumption ranking, rates to user as well. Furthermore, usage of last month or year can be compared to help to reduce the energy usage. The proposed system can provide the information about the amount of energy use to be reduced and the warning on the waste of energy.
