Determination of Cadmium Ions by Designing an Optode Based on Immobilization of Dithizone on a Triacetylecelluose Membrane in Polluted Soil and Water Samples

  • 카드뮴이온 검출을 위한 optode를 triacetylecelluose 막에 있어 dithizone을 고정에 의하여 디자인 되었다. Optode 막이 카드뮴을 포함하는 611 nm 에서 흡수 변화가 가능한 실제시료에 도입 되었을 때 녹색에서 붉은 색으로 색 변화가 일어났다. $Cd^{2+}$ 이온 검출은 검출한계가 0.025 ${\mu}g\;ml^{-1}$ (25 ng $ml^{-1}$)이고 0.3-3 ${\mu}g\;ml^{-1}$ (2.67-26.67 ${\mu}M$)범위에서 가능하였다. Optode의 반응 시간은 $Cd^{2+}$ 이온에 의존하여 15분 안 에서 일어 났다. 다른 간섭종의 효과에 대해 시험되었고 좋은 선택성을 보였다. 제안된 optode를 사용하 여 오염된 토양과 물시료에서 $Cd^{2+}$ 이온의 검출 결과는 잘 확립된 원자흡수법과 동등하게 얻을 수 있었다.

Degradation of synthetic dye in water by solution plasma process

  • In this study, the solution plasma process was utilized with the aim of degrading synthetic dyes in water at atmospheric pressure. The experiments were conducted in a batch-type reactor consisting of a symmetric wire-wire electrode configuration with rhodamine B (RhB) as the target synthetic dye. The effects of the plasma treatment time and initial dye concentration on the RhB degradation were investigated by monitoring the change in absorbance of RhB solutions. The RhB solutions turned lighter in color and finally colorless with prolonged plasma treatment time, indicating the destruction of dye molecules. The RhB solutions were found to have degraded, following the first-order kinetic process. However, for high initial RhB concentrations, another kinetic process or factor seems to play a dominant role at the initial degradation stage. The fitted first-order rate constant decreased as the initial concentration increased. This result suggests that the degradation behavior and kinetic process of the RhB solution strongly depends on its initial concentration. The RhB degradation is considered to be due to a combination of factors, including the formation of chemically oxidative species, as well as the emission of intense UV radiation and high-energy electrons from the plasma. We believe that the solution plasma process may prove to be an effective and environment-friendly method for the degradation or remediation of synthetic dye in wastewater.

  • 마이크로 에멀젼 수용액에 분산된 반응성 유기화합물을 전기분해를 통하여 얻을 수 있는 수산화이온 및 수소이온을 이용하여 가수분해시키고, 분해속도를 비교하는 실험을 수행하였다. 반응물질로 사용된 p-nitrophenylacetate (PNPA)의 가수분해로부터 발생하는 p-nitrophenoxide 농도 변화에 따른 흡광도 변화를 이용하여 분해속도를 얻을 수 있었다. 자체 조립한 전기분해 장치를 이용하여 전압, 반응온도, 반응물질 양에 따른 분해속도 변화를 관찰하였다. 마이크로 에멀젼 사용으로 인하여 반응물질 용해도를 증가시킬 수 있으며, 전기분해법 사용으로 인하여 반응속도 조절이 용이하며, 유지비용이 저렴하고, 기존 화학물질 투여방법에 비해 소모되는 시약 보충 및 반응 후 부산물 처리 등의 과정이 수월하다. 유기물질 분해에 대한 메커니즘 및 수처리 분야 응용에 대하여 토의하였다.

음용수로부터 동화성 유기물질의 제거를 위한 생물학적 공정개발 (Development of biological processes for the removal of assimilable organic carbon from potable water)

  • 음요수 중의 유기탄소의 제거수단으로써 biofiltration법의 타당성을 검토하였다.NOM에서의 생분해 가능한 분율을 알아보기위하여 행하여 졌다. UV 조사량을 3가지로 달리하였을 경우에 회분식에서의 생분해능과 비교하였다. 생물여과 반응기 실험의 경우에 생분해 특성을 검토한 결과 EBCT, 순환비 및 유입농도등과 같은 운전피라미터들이 생물여과 반응기의 생분해능에 영향을 미침을 알 수있었다. 생물여과 반응기의 유출수에서의 UV/DOC의 비는 반응기에 공급되는 원료중의 UV/DOC비에 비해 증가하였으며, 이로부터 생분해에 의해 저거된 DOC는 UV에 의해 그다지 흡수되지 않는 물질임을 알 수있었다. 본 여눅를 통해 생분해 가능한 DOC의 부분을 제거하는데 있어서 생물여과공법이 효과적인 방법이라는 것을 알수있었으며 UV처리와 bilfiltration을 연계한 공정은 수처리 시설에서 유출수의 DOC농도는 낮추는데 효과적인 한가지 방안으로 사료되었다.

생성 기원에 따른 용존 자연유기물질 분자량별 형광특성 비교 (Fluorescence Properties of Size Fractions of Dissolved Organic Matter Originated From Different Sources)

  • Fluorescence properties and carbohydrate content were investigated using ultrafiltrated size fractions of dissolved organic matters (DOM) originated from different sources. The materials included a treated sewage, an algal organic matter, and a soil leachate, all of which are major constituents of dissolved organic matter in a typical urban river. Four different size fractions were separated from the three sources of each DOM. The size distribution demonstrated that a higher molecular weight fraction was more present in soil leachate compared to two other source DOMs. A higher content of carbohydrates was observed in the following order - algal DOM > treated sewage > soil leachate. A wide range of specific UV absorbance was observed from size fractions of a single source DOM, indicating that aromatic carbon structures are heterogeneously distributed within one source of DOM. The structural heterogeneity was the most pronounced for the soil leachate. The fluorescence index ($F_{450}/F_{500}$) of the treated sewage was similar to that (2.0) typically obtained from autochthonous DOM, suggesting that the treated sewage exhibited autochthonous organic matter-like properties. No protein-like fluorescence intensities were observed for all of the soil leachate size fractions whereas they were observed with two other source DOMs. Based upon the fluorescence peak ratios from fluorescence excitation-emission matrix (EEM), two discrimination indices could be suggested to distinguish three different source DOMs. It is expected that the suggested discrimination indices will be useful to predict the sources of DOM in a typical urban river affected by treated sewage.

Preparation of chitosan, sunflower and nano-iron based core shell and its use in dye removal

  • Many industries, such as textiles, chemical refineries, leather, plastics and paper, use different dyes in various process steps. At the same time, these industrial sectors are responsible for discharging contaminants that are harmful and toxic to humans and microorganisms by introducing synthetic dyes into wastewater. Of these dyes, methylene blue dye, which is classified as basic dyes, is accepted as a model dye. For this reason, methylene blue dye was selected in the study and its removal from the water was studied. In this study, two efficient biosorbents were developed from chitosan and sunflower waste, an agro-industrial waste and modified using iron nanoparticles. The biosorption efficiency was evaluated for methylene blue (MB) dye removal from aqueous solution under various parameters such as treating agent, solution pH, biosorbent dosage, contact time, initial dye concentration and temperature. We investigated the kinetic properties of dye removal from water for Chitosan-Sunflower (CS), Chitosan-Sunflower-Nanoiron (CSN). When the wavelength of MB dye was spectrophotometrically scanned, the maximum absorbance was determined as 660 nm. For the core shell biosorbents we obtained, we found that the optimum time for removal of MB from wastewater was 60 min. The pH of the best pH was determined as 5 in the studied pH. The most suitable temperature for the experiment was determined as 30℃. SEM-EDAX, TEM, XRD, and FTIR techniques were used to characterize biosorbents produced and modified in the experimental stage and to monitor the change of biosorbent after dye removal. The interactions of the paint with the surface used for removal were explained by these techniques. It was calculated that 80% of CS and 88% of CSN removed MB in optimum conditions. Also, the absorption of MB dye onto the surface was investigated by Langmiur and Frendlinch isotherms and it was determined from the results that the removal was more compatible with Langmiur isotherm.

Propugnating Effect of Bark of Rhizophora mucronata Against Different Toxicants Viz Carbon Tetrachloride, Ethanol and Paracetamol on HepG2 Cell Lines

  • Objective: The aim of the study was to evaluate the hepatoprotective activity of the bark extract (Ethanol: Water) in the ratio of (3:1) of Rhizophora mucronata (BERM) by intoxicating the $HepG_2$ cell lines with different toxicants viz, $CCL_4$, Ethanol and Paracetamol with different concentrations of the extract were used. The $HepG_2$ cell lines were subjected to MTT Assay for studying the cytotoxicity. Methods: $HepG_2$ cells were plated using 96 well plate in 10% bovine serum, exposed to different toxicants viz, 2% $CCl_4$, 60% Ethanol and 14 mM Paracetamol respectively. The various test concentrations (18.85, 37.5, 75, 150 and $300{\mu}g/ml$) of bark extract of Rhizophora mucronata was added and incubated for 24 hours. Medium was removed after incubation period and 0.5 mg/ml MTT(3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) was added and again incubated for 4 hours at 37oC. Then MTT was removed the crystals was dissolved in DMSO and absorbance was measured at 570 nm. Results: The result showed that dose dependent increase in percentage of viability at the doses of 18.85, 37.5, 75, 150, $300{\mu}g/ml$. Te results for the $CCl_4$ intoxicated, at $300{\mu}g/ml$ of the concentration of the extract, the % of viable cells was found out to be 99.6%, for Ethanol intoxicated, 97.67%, and Paracetamol induced, 75.37%, IC50 was $21.53{\mu}g/ml$, $12.61{\mu}g/ml$ and $21.42{\mu}g/ml$ respectively. Conclusion: Thus, we conclude that, the extract possesses defensive effect against different toxicants and can be used as an alternate drug for hepatotoxicity.

강화형 치관용 복합레진의 인장강도에 관한 연구 (A STUDY ON THE TENSILE STRENGTH OF REINFORCED VENEERING COMPOSITE RESINS FOR CROWN)

  • Recently a new generation of crown and bridge veneering resins containing submicron glass fillers was introduced. These ultrasmall particle hybrid composite materials distinguish themselves, compared with conventional microfill crown and bridge resins, through improved mechanical properties. It is claimed that these composites are suitable for metal free crowns and even bridges using fiber reinforcement. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of thermal cycling on the tensile strength of the following veneering composites: Artglass(Heraeus Kulzer Co., Wehrheim, Germany), Estonia(Kuraray Co.. Japan), Sculpture(Jeneric Pentron Co., Wallingford, U.S.A.), and Targis(Ivoclar Co., Schaan Liechenstein). According to manufacturer's instructions, rectangular tensile test specimens measuring $1.5{\times}2.0{\times}4.5mm$ were made using a teflon mold. Whole specimens were divided into two groups. One group was dried in a desiccator at $25^{\circ}C$ for 10 days, and another group was subjected to thermal cycling($10,000{\times}$) in water($5/55^{\circ}C$). All test specimens were placed in a universal testing machine and loaded until fracture with a crosshead speed of 0.5mm/min. Weibull analysis and Tukey's test were used to analyze the data. The fracture surfaces of specimens were observed in SEM and the aliphatic C=C absorbance peak of Estenia and Targis resin was analyzed using Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy. Within the limitations imposed in this study, the following conclusions can be drawn: 1. Both in drying condition and thermal cycling condition, the highest tensile strength was observed in Estenia testing group(p<0.05). 2. The strength data were at to single-mode Weibull distribution, and the Weibull modulus of all veneering composite resin specimens increased after thermal cycling treatment. 3. After thermal cycling test, the highest tensile strength was observed in the Estenia group, and the lowest value was observed in the Targis group. The tensile strength values showed the significant differences between each group(p<0.05) 4. The aliphatic C=C absorbance peak of Estonia and Targis resin was decreased after light curing, and there was no distinct change after thermal cycling.

신선찰벼와 찰흑미 전분의 이화학적 특성 (Physicochemical Properties on Shinsun (Waxy) and Black Rice Starch)

  • 흑미 (상해항혈나)와 신선찰벼 전분의 이화학적 성질을 조사한 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 신선찰벼와 흑미 전분의 일반성분은 시료간에 차이를 보이지 않았으며, 무기성분은 신선찰벼 전분의 경우 Ca, Mg, P, Na 순으로 함유하고 있었으며, 흑미 전분의 경우 Ca, P, Fe, Mg 순으로 나타났다. 입도분포는 두 시료 모두 1.15∼l.75$\mu\textrm{m}$의 작은 피크와 6.27∼6.97$\mu\textrm{m}$ 입자의 큰 피크를 보이는 이중 분포를 보여 두 품종 모두 거의 유사한 경향을 보였다. 전분의 요오드 반응에서 최대흡수파장과 λmax에서의 흡광도는 신선찰벼 전분이 각각 518 nm와 0.164, 흑미 전분이 521nm와 0.184로 흑미 전분이 다소 높았으며, 625nm에서의 흡광도 값은 신선찰벼 전분이 0.112, 흑미가 0.140으로 나타났다. 고유점도는 신선찰벼 전분이 178 mL/g, 흑미 전분이 183 mL/g으로 흑미 전분이 다소 높게 나타났으나, 물결합능력은 103.5%와 103.3%로 두 시료간에 차이를 보이지 않았다. 전분의 팽윤력과 용해도는 두 시료 모두 55∼6$0^{\circ}C$에서는 완만한 증가를 보이다가 6$0^{\circ}C$를 경계로 $65^{\circ}C$까지 급격히 증가하여 7$0^{\circ}C$이후에는 서서히 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 신선찰벼와 흑미 전분의 X-선 회절도는 전형적인 A형을 보였으며, 주사전자현미경에 의한 입자의 형태 관찰에서는 두 시료간에 차이 를 보이지 않았다.

대두(大豆)에 대(對)한 아황산가스의 영향(影響) (Effect of of Sulfur dioxide gas on Soybean Plant)

  • 대기오염물질의 하나인 아황산가스를 $0.2mg/{\ell}$$0.5mg/{\ell}$의 농도(濃度)로 대두(大豆)에 접촉(接觸)시켜 접촉시간(接觸時間) 및 시각(時刻)에 따른 피해증상(被害症狀), 피해엽률(被害葉率), 수량(收量), 체내유황함량, 엽록소함량 등(等)을 조사(調査)한 결과(結果)를 보면 다음과 같다. 가, $0.5mg/{\ell}$ 아황산가스를 시간별(時間別)로 접촉(接觸), ${\bullet}$ 5분간(分間)의 단시간접촉(短時間接觸)에서 52%의 감수(減收)를 가져왔고 60분접촉(分接觸)에서 76.4%로 감수(減收)하였다. ${\bullet}$ 가스접촉시간(接觸時間) 및 감수률(減收率)과 체내유황함량은 정(正)의 상관(相關)이 있었고 수용성(水溶性) 유황(硫黃)이 전유황(全硫黃)보다 유의도(有意度)가 높았다. 나, $0.2mg/{\ell}$의 아황산가스를 시각별(時刻別)로 접촉(接觸), ${\bullet}$ 엽피해(葉被害)는 10-11시(時)에 가장 심(甚)하였으며 22-23시(時)에는 육안적(肉眼的) 피해(被害)가 없었다. ${\bullet}$ 엽(葉) 경내 유황함량(硫黃含量)은 10-11시(時)에 가장 많았고 18-19시(時)에 가장 적었으며 엽록소함량은 10-11시(時)에 가장적고 22-23시(時)에 가장 많았다. ${\bullet}$ 엽내유황함량(葉內硫黃含量)과 피해엽률(被害葉率)은 정(正)의 상관이 있었으며 엽록소함량과 피해엽률(被害葉率)과는 부(否)의 상관이 있었다. ${\bullet}$ 엽록체의 흡광도(吸光度)는 10-11시(時)에 가장 감소(減少)가 컸고 22-23시(時)에 가장 감소(減少)가 적었으며 $456m{\mu}$$663m{\mu}$에서 흡광도(吸光度)의 감소(減少)가 컸다.
