  • Lignocellulosic biomass including acetosolv ricestraw and spruce lignin were liquefied and converted into liquid hydrocarbons by catalytic hydroliquefaction reaction. These experimental works were carried out in 1-liter-capacity autoclave using 50% tetralin and m-cresol solution respectively as soluble solvent and Ni. Pd. Fe and red mud as catalyst. $H_2$ gas was supplied into the reactor for escaltion of deoxhydroenolysis reaction. Catalyst concentrations were 1 % of raw material based on weight. The ratio between raw materials and soluble solvent are 1g and 10cc. The reaction conditions are 400-$700^{\circ}C$ of reaction temperature, 10-50 atms of reaction pressure. The highest yield of hydrocarbon, so called "product oil" showed 32% and 5.5% of lowest char formation when red mud was used as catalyst. The product oil yields from those of other catalysts were in the range of 20-29%. The influence of different initial hydrogen pressures was examined in the range d 30-50 atms. A minimum pressure of 35 atms was necessary to obtain a complete recovery of souble solvent for recycling.

자동차용 배기열 회수 장치의 성능 특성에 관한 연구 (Study on the Performance Characteristics of Exhaust Heat Recovery Device in Automobile)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the performance characteristics of new exhaust heat recovery device for the engine's fast warm-up. In this study, two different interior area designed for prototyping and on the exhaust heat recovery device to evaluate the performance compare the performance characteristics were chosen a better product. A company's product and selected prototype-2 were evaluated and compared the performance. This experiment was conducted under the same conditions. The time from starting to warm-up of engine was measured. As a result, the performance characteristics of the prototype-2 was not higher than that of the A company's product. However, in comparison with base system, prototype-2 of the exhaust heat recovery device discover that the warm-up time was shortened.

  • Coal-fired power plants supply roughly 50 percent of the nation's electricity but produce a disproportionate share of electric utility-related air pollution. Coal combustion technology can facilitate volume reduction of up to 90%, with the inorganic contaminants being captured in furnace bottom ash and fly ash residues. These disposal coal ash residues are however governed by the potential release of constituent contaminants into the environment. Accelerated carbonation process has been shown to have a potential for improving the chemical stability and leaching behavior of bottom ash residues. The aim of this work was to quantify the volume of $CO_2$ that could be sequestrated with a view to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and stabilize the contaminated heavy metals from bottom ash samples. In this study, we used PC boiler bottom ash, Kanvera reactor (KR) slag and calcined waste lime for measuring chemical analysis and heavy metals leaching tests were performed and also the formation of calcite resulting from accelerated carbonation process was investigated by thermo gravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG/DTA).

인공경량골재의 표피층 구조가 흡수된 물의 방출속도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Shell Structure of Artificial Lightweight Aggregates on the Emission Rate of Absorbed Water)

  • The artificial aggregates with dense surface layer (shell) was fabricated and the dependence of water emission rate upon the shell structures was studied. The EAF dust containing many flux components and waste white clay with ignition loss of above 48% were used as for liquid phase and gas forming agents during a sintering process respectively. In addition, the shell structure was modified with various processes and the modification effect on water emission rate was analyzed. The pores under $10{\mu}m$ were found in the sintered artificial light aggregates and disappeared by incorporating to a bigger pore during re-sintering. The water emission rate in an initial step depended on a void content of aggregates filled in a bottle rather than a shell structure. But, after 7 days where the water emission of the aggregate with a shell is above 40%, the shell of aggregates suppressed the water emission. The core of aggregates was exposed and most shell was lost when crushed to smaller size so, the ability for suppressing water emission of the crushed aggregates decreased. The activation energy for the water emission was $3.46{\pm}0.25{\times}10^{-1}$J/mol for the most specimens showing that the activation energy is irrelevant to the pore size distribution and shell structure.

  • A low energy large aperture(LELA) pulsed electron beam generator of a cold cathode type has been developed for environmental applications, for example, waste water cleaning, flue gas cleaning, and pasteurization etc. The operational principle is based on the emission of secondary electrons from cold cathode when ions in the plasma hit the cathode, which are accelerated toward exit window by the gradient of an electric potential. We have fabricated the LELA electron beam generator with the peak energy of 200keV and beam diameter of 200mm and obtained the large aperture electron beam in air. The electron beam current density has been investigated as a function of glow discharge current, accelerating voltage and radial distribution in front of the exit window foil. The plasma density and electron temperature have been measured in order to confirm the relation with the electron beam current density. We are going to upgrade the LELA electron beam generator in the electron energy, electron beam current and stability of operation for various applications.

연료개질기를 연계한 고체 산화물 연료전지 시스템의 운전 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Operation Characteristics of Planar-type SOFC System Integrated with Fuel Processor)

  • The solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is expected to be a candidate for distributed power sources in the next generation, due to its high efficiency and high-temperature waste heat utilization. In this study, the 5-cell SOFC stack was operated with pure hydrogen or reformed gas at anode side and air at cathode side. When stack was operated with diesel and methane ATR reformer, the influence of the $H_2O/C,\;O_2/C$ and GHSV on performance of stacks have been investigated. The result shows that the cell voltage was decreased with the increase of $H_2O/C$ and $O_2/C$ due to the partial pressure of fuel and water, and cell voltage was more sensitive to $O_2/C$ than $H_2O/C$. Next, the dynamic model of SOFC system included with ATR reformer was established and compared with experimental data. Based on dynamic model, the operation strategy to optimize SOFC-Reformer system was suggested and simulated.

내구수명 증진을 위한 콘크리트 구조물용 표면처리공법 개발 (Development of Surface Treatment Systems for Concrete Structures to Extend Service Life)

  • Concrete structures stand in poor surrounding than it has ever been met before, because they are installed in severe conditions such as chloride penetration. $CO_2$ gas, water and so on. Therefore, the countermeasure to efficiently protect from the deterioration of concrete structures should be urgently considered. From this point of view, this study was aimed to develop surface treatment systems for concrete structures, which cover physical properties, long term durability and economic consideration. Developing the optimal surface treatment materials, powder type polymer or liquid type polymer was added to inorganic base materials. Three surface treatment materials which had shown best results in primary tests were selected and durability tests were fulfilled. Consequently optimum surface treatment material was developed. The surface treatment materials, which were developed through this study, can efficiently extend the service life of concrete structures. As a result, the life cycle cost should be reduced and the waste of material resources would be cut down.

스마트TV를 이용한 공동주택의 에너지 사용 모니터링 시스템 (A Monitoring System of Energy Usage for Apartment Houses Using Smart TV)

  • This paper presents the necessary elements and data flow in developing a monitoring system of energy usage for apartment houses with a Smart TV. Energy consumption data in each home are collected and analyzed in the HUB station by way of measuring instruments. And the amount of energy usage, such as electricity, gas, hot water, heating, water and other utilities are displayed through the Smart TV application. Energy consumption Database in the HUB station are processed and displayed in the browser of a Smart TV through XML, JAVASCRIPT and Flash. Smart TV users can get the energy consumption status through the energy consumption analysis display of the Smart TV application and improve the energy efficiency by comparing the usage patterns with neighboring houses. And the application display energy usage information, consumption ranking, rates to user as well. Furthermore, usage of last month or year can be compared to help to reduce the energy usage. The proposed system can provide the information about the amount of energy use to be reduced and the warning on the waste of energy.

제강분진의 건식 처리기술 현황 (Status of Pyrometallurgical Treatment Technology of EAF Dust)

  • 전기로 제강분진은 아연, 연, 철의 2차자원으로서 매우 중요하다. 또한 제강분진의 리싸이클링은 분진 중에 함유되어 있는 증금속 성분 등의 유해원소에 의한 환경문제의 처리에 유용한 방법이다. 본 조사는 기존의 전기로 제강분진을 처리하는 방법의 개선이나 새로운 처리방법의 개발을 위해 건식처리 방법에 대하여 알아보았다. 상업중인 처리방법은 노의 형상 등에 따라 로터리 킬른형, 회전노상형, 샤프트형, 용융환원로형 등으로 구분할 수 있었다. 이러한 처리에서의 생성물은 ZnO와 환원철 또는 슬래그이다. 제강분진으로부터 ZnO를 만드는 기구는 탄소 열환원과 공기에 의한 아연증기의 산화에 의한 것이다.

  • In this paper, high concentration yield multi-discharge type ozonizer (MDO) of new discharge type using superposed silent discharge was designed and manufactured, MDO can be consisted with 3 kind of multi discharge type ozonizer (MDO) in accordance with power supply method that supplying power, which has 180[$^{\circ}$] phase difference, to 3 electrodes and double gap. At the moment, discharge characteristics and ozone generation characteristics of each MDO were investigated in accordance with quantity of supplied gas, the number of MDO, and the shapes of each MDO. In result, ozone generation characteristics of 17185[ppm] and 783[g/kWh] were obtained, and when ozone of 17185 [ppm] was in contact with dyeing water waste, decolorization characteristics was excellent, so it confirmed that MDO could be used as water environment improvement facility.
