  • Keratocystic odontogenic tumors can occur in any area of the maxilla or mandible. According to their size, location, and relations with surrounding structures, they are treated by cyst enucleation or enucleation after either marsupialization or decompression. Enucleation is performed when cysts are not large and when only minor damage to adjacent anatomical structures is expected. Although marsupialization and decompression follow the same basic bone-regeneration principle, which is to say, by reducing the pressure within the cyst, the former leaves a large defect after healing due to the large fistula necessary to induce the conversion of the cyst-lining epithelia to oral epithelia; the latter leaves only a relatively small defect, because of the continuous washing carried out by means of a tube inserted into a small hole in the cyst. In the latter case too, a decompressor appropriate for the focal position is required, owing to the importance of maintaining the device and controlling for oral hygiene. We report herein decompression treatment with a patient-customized device for an extensive cyst in the anterior region of the mandible.

  • To prepare a durable softening water repellent, quaternized octadecyl methacrylate-2-diethyl-aminoethyl methacrylate as a mother resin and quaternized 1, 3-dioctadecyl-2, 7-dioxy-6, 8-di(2-hydroxyethyl)-1, 3, 6, 8-tetraazacyclodecane which increase the softening effect and the hydrostatic pressure blended with waxes and their emulsifier in various proportions to give water repellent PADWC. As the results of the measurement of water repellency, washable, tear strength and crease recovery to polyestercotton(P/C) blended fabrics treated with PADWC only or addition of textile finishing resin, the physical properties were increased. There was no significant lowering effect in water repellency when PADWC was treated the antistatic agent by the one-bath method, and the effect of water repellency by the adding the catalyst was studied. PADWC was confirmed as durable water repellent with the results of making little difference of water repellency as ${\pm}5$ point after and before washing.

  • This study describes the feasibility and optimization of reactive dyeing on bio treated cotton knitted fabrics. For this, cotton knitted fabrics distinctly with two different enzymes, alkaline Pectinases(Scourzyme $L^{(R)}$) and Pectate lyases(Bactosol Co. ip $liquor^{(R)}$). In this way by increasing the concentration and processing temperature, the access of enzymes towards the fatty and waxy substrate was found to be accelerated. To achieve higher absorbency and whiteness index, a series of experiments was carried out to assure that Pectate lyases enzymes possesses high access towards the fats and waxes at high temperature. To this end, cotton knitted fabrics was dyed without oxidative bleaching step. The Pectate lyases scoured and dyed fabrics showed less color difference when 2% dye shade is used. The fabrics pre-scoured with Pectate lyases showed good the light and washing fastness properties, compared to the conventional and Pectinases dyed fabrics. However pectinases enzymes showed lower activity at high temperature, caused poor wettability and whiteness index of fabrics. The improvement of the accessibility of enzyme to the pectin at higher temperature Pectate lyases treatment before dyeing was found to be useful for subsequent pectin degradation in cotton knitted fabrics.

  • An upflow BAF(Biological Aerated Filter) equipped with an expanded clay media was applied to reuse weaving wastewater of water jet loom. The performance of lab-scale biofilter was investigated by the adjustment of EBCTs(Empty Bed Contact Time) and the packing ratio of media, which were changed 1.1 to 3.7hr and 38 to 63%, respectively. In most conditions except 1.1hr of EBCT, BOD, CODcr, SS and Turbidity of the effluent were 1~4mg/L, 7~16mg/L, 1~5mg/L and 5~14NTU, where their removal efficiencies were 76~95%, 82~93%, 63~94% and 59~81%, respectively. From the observation of SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope) photographs of porous clay media, it was revealed that this media provided good performance of retaining microbes effectively. In addition, $0.44~0.49kgVSS/kgBOD_{rem}$. of low sludge reduction was expected. The most efficient back washing cycle and procedure were once per 4 to 9 days and air including collapse-pulsing method, respectively. Therefore, this system can be of use as an weaving wastewater treatment for reuse.

  • As the large Coolant amount used of a machine holds mass serious trouble recently, an environment pollution is increased, and a machine is conquering large specific gravity in an empty cost plane. It is the stage that must reexamine the parts washing that processing is later with this current way or a problem of a liquid waste treatment back. The environmental problems by using coolant demanded the new cooling methods. As one of them, the studies on the grinding with compressed cold air and oil mist have been done. The cooling method using compressed cold air was effective through going down the temperature of compressed air supplied below -$25^{\circ}C$ and increasing the amount of compressed cold air, but had not enough cooling effect due to the low performance of lubrication. Therefore, the cooling methods using oil mist newly were suggested. This method can satisfy both cooling effect and lubrication with only small amount of coolant, also have the benefit in the point of decreasing the environmental pollution. This paper focused on analyzing the grinding characteristics of the cooling method using oil mist. The grinding test according to compressed cold air and oil mist supply direction were done.

  • The effects of Temperature on the removal of triglyceride were studied with soaps having various chain lengths of alkyl group. Cellophane, polyester film and alkali-treated polyester film were soiled with tripalmitin, tagged with 0" and detergency was evaluated by analysing the tripalmitine on the fabric before and after washing by means of liquid scintillation counting. The results were as following: 1) Triglyceride was completely removed from cellophane in distilled water without surfactant at any temperature, because of the hydrophillic nature of cellulose. The detergency of triglyceride from polyester film fully depended on the state of tripalmitin. The detergency of alkali treated polyester film was better than that of untreated polyester film at lower temperature due to increased hydrophillcity, but worse at higher temperature due to the diffusion of molten tripalmitin into the grooves, formed by alkali treatment. 2) The detergency from polyester film was increased with elevating temperature and after reaching some optimum detergencies, the detergencies were rather decreased with increasing temperature. The temperatures of optimum detergency were shifted to higher with increasing chain length of alkyl group. 3) When the soiled film was baked at $60^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$ for 20 min, the detergency vs. temperature was much the same as the case of without-baking. These results indicate that the detergency of triglyceride was largely correlated with the suspending power of surfactants at low temperature and with state of soil and hydrophilicity of substrates with elevating temperature.

  • In this article, effect of the dyeing and mechanical properties were investigated on the polyester ultramicro fiber(UMF) and knitted fabric varying fiber fineness(0.01d and 0.05d). By a treatment with NaOH solution, sea-ingredient was removed and polyester micro-fiber was revealed. The dyeing, build-up and fastness properties of the fiber and fabrics were observed. We used C.I. Disperse Red 60 and Blue 56 for dyeing property and eight Lumacron dyes for build-up property and colorfastness. At low temperature dyeing($100^{\circ}C$), the dyeing rate of 0.01d-polyester UME increased more than that of 0.05d-polyester UMF with Disperse Red 60 and Blue 56 whereas dyeing rate of 0.05d-polyester UMF were increased more than that of 0.01d-polyester UMF at high temperature($120^{\circ}C$), The colorfastnesses of the 0.05d-fiber knitted fabric such as washing, rubbing and light was higher than those of the 0.01d-fiber knitted fabric.

  • Cyclosporin A (CsA), a widely used immunosuppressant, is well known to cause nephrotoxicity and hypertension as major side effects. The present study was aimed at investigating the effects of CsA-pretreatment on the activities of cytosolic guanylate cyclase (cGC) in relation to the alteration of relaxant responses in the rat thoracic aorta. CsA $(10\;{\mu}M)-preincubation$ for 90 min significantly attenuated the vasodilatation induced by sodium nitroprusside (SNP), a cytosolic guanylate cyclase activator, shifting the dose-response curve to the right. The increase in cGMP contents induced by SNP was markedly attenuated by CsA. SNP ($1\;{\mu}M{\sim}\;mM$) increased the cGC activity dose-dependently, and the increase was completely abolished by CsA. CsA attenuated the SNP-induced cGC activation dose-dependently. The abolishing effect of CsA-pretreatment on the SNP-induced cGC activation was not affected by washing the preparation, suggesting that the inhibition is irreversible. When CsA was added simultaneously with SNP, cGC activation was not attenuated. 1-(5-isoquinolinylsulfonyl)-2-methyl piperazine (H-7), a protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitor, decreased SNP-induced cGC activation and blocked the CsA-attenuation of cGC activation. These results suggest that CsA directly inhibits cGC participating in the CsA-induced impairment of vasodilatation, and that PKC is involved in the inhibitory action of CsA on cGC.

  • This study was conducted to investigate purchasing behavior of jeans consumers and to find differences in jeans evaluative criteria according to consumers' characteristics. Male and female university students participated in the study. Quota sampling method was used to collect the data. Data from 492 questionnaires were used for the statistical analysis. Descriptive analysis, factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, ANOVA, Duncan test, and t-test were conducted. Three factors of jeans evaluative criteria classified (i.e., external criteria, internal/aesthetic criteria, internal/quality criteria). Results indicated that most of respondents put on jeans wear more than three times per a week and 38.1% of respondents reported that they owned three to four jeans products on average. Department store was the most used place to buy jeans product with 44.2%. 27.5% of respondents spent from 50,000 won to 100,000 won on purchasing jeans. Style was the highest important jeans evaluative criterion with 36.2%, followed by fitness, price, color, condition of washing treatment. Women respondents considered aesthetic criteria and quality criteria more importantly than men did. Respondents who were on a high income and spent more than 200,000 won per a month on apparel more concerned aesthetic criteria and external criteria than the other respondents did. Results of this study provide a basis for understanding jeans consumers' purchase behavior and evaluative criteria.

  • The development and performance of a competitive indirect immunoassay for the quantitative measurement of polychlorinated biphenyl compounds in insulating oils is presented. Reagent preparation and the assay characterisation, optimisation and validation steps are described. The dynamic range of the assay for Aroclors 1254 and 1260 in methanol was $50-800 {\mu}g\;ml^{-1}$ with $50\%$ signal inhibition values of 217 and $ 212 {\mu}g\;ml^{-1}$ respectively. Impending legislation in the UK is likely to decree that oils containing $ >50 {\mu}g\;ml^{-1}$ PCB be considered contaminated. Assay sensitivity increased with the degree of PCB chlorination. The assay of structurally related compounds of environmental concern yielded cross-reactivity values of under $0.6\%$. The immunoassay proved reliable for the analysis of transformer oils containing $>70{\mu}g\;ml^{-1}$ PCB, but over-estimated PCB levels in oils containing $<20{\mu}g\;ml^{-1}$ of the analyte with the oils requiring pre-treatment using either solid-phase extraction techniques or washing with KOH-ethanol/sulphuric acid to remove matrix interferents. The analytical performance of the assay was compared against a commercially available semi-quantitative immunoassay kit for PCBs in soil and water.
