월출산국립공원 도갑사계곡의 식생구조 (Vegetation Structure of the Dogabsa Valley in the Weolchulsan National Park)

  • 월출산국립공원 도갑사계곡의 식생구조를 분석하기 위하여 30개 조사구를 설정하고 조사를 실시하였다. Classification 기법 중의 하나인 TWINSPAN을 이용하여 군락분리를 시도한 결과, 굴참나무-개서어나무군락, 소나무군락, 굴참나무-소나무군락, 굴참나무군락 그리고 갈참나무-때죽나무군락의 5개 군락으로 최종 분리되었다. 식생 구조분석결과 도갑사지역의 산림은 온대남부수종과 난대수종이 만나는 전이지역의 특색을 나타내고 있었으며, 산림의 임령은 $40{\sim}50$년이었다.

기후변화에 따른 난대상록활엽수의 적지예측 평가 모델 개발 (Development of Assessment Model for the Optimal Site Prediction of Evergreen Broad-leaved Trees in Warm Temperate Zone according to Climate Change)

  • 본 연구는 기후변화에 따른 난대상록수종인 황칠나무의 적지예측모델을 개발하기 위하여 수행하였다. 생장 및 입지환경 인자들간의 관계 구명을 통하여 양적 질적 자료 분석이 가능한 수량화 분석 방법에 의하여 황칠나무의 적지예측 평가기준을 도출하였다. 적지예측 프로그램은 ESRI, ArcView GIS 프로그램을 이용하여 개발하였다. 개발된 프로그램은 적지예측의 정확성 검토를 위하여 다양한 난대 상록활엽수가 분포하고 있는 전남 완도 지역에 적용하였다. 황칠나무의 적지예측 분석 결과, 최적지 표고 401~500m, 경사도 $15^{\circ}$ 이하, 국소지형은 산복 계곡부위, 퇴적양식 붕행토, 방위가 남쪽인 요철사면으로 나타났다. 완도지역의 황칠나무 최적지 등급별 맵핑 면적은 I 등급 1,487.2ha(25.4%), II 등급 1,020.3ha (17.4%), III 등급 2,231.8ha(38.2%), IV 등급 1,110.5ha(19.0%)로 나타났다.

Analysis of Vegetation Structure of Castanopsis sieboldii Forest in the Warm-temperate Zone, Korea

  • This study aims at classifying and analyzing the vegetation structure of Castanopsis sieboldii forest, one of the evergreen broad-leaved forests found under the warm-temperate climate of Korea. It is also compared with the ones of the Castanopsis sieboldii forest in Japan where most similar such forest of Korea, to find unique vegetation structures of the only Korean forest. Vegetation structure of Korean Castanopsis sieboldii forest was divided into two units at the level of community units both of Ardisia japonica-Castanopsis sieboldii community and Ardisio-Castanopsietum sieboldii association. The association carries similar type with the vegetation system of Japan, but any subunits differentiated with the Japan were found vary much. Hierarchical cluster analysis brings in similar result with the analysis on the vegetation structure as well.

제주도 물영아리늪 퇴적물의 화분분석에 의한 식생변천 (Vegetational History of the Mulyeongari Fen by Pollen Analysis in Jeju Island, Korea)

  • For the reconstruction of the past vegetational changes in Jeju Island, Korea, pollen analysis and radiocarbon dating on the sediments obtained from the Mulyeongari fen were carried out. By the results, the vegetational changes around the Mulyeongari fen from ca. 3,300 cal. yr BP to the present can be interpreted and reconstructed. The pollen record from the Mulyeongari fen was divided into two local pollen assemblage zones and three sub-pollen assemblage zones. Zone I (Quercus-Carpinus-Herbs Zone) was characterized by the predominance of Quercus(30~63%), Carpinus(9~35%) and herbs(40~424%). Zone II was characterized by three sub-pollen assemblage zones and the high occurrence ratio of the tree layer in comparison with Zone I. In Zone IIa (Quercus-Carpinus Zone), herbs(3~161%) were drastically decreased in predominance of Quercus(28~56%) and Carpinus(14~31%). In Zone IIb (Carpinus-Quercus Zone), Carpinus(36~48%) was preferentially increased but Quercus(29~39%) was slightly decreased. In Zone IIc (Quercus-Carpinus Zone), Carpinus(26~38%) was decreased inversely but Quercus(36~50%) was increased. In addition, Cyperaceae was also increased to 52%. Consequently, it is suggested that cool temperate southern/sub-montane vegetation composed of Quercus and Carpinus which was physiognomy of deciduous broad leaved forest was distributed around the Mulyeongari fen from ca. 3,300 cal. yr BP. In addition, Cyclobalanopsis(4~23%), Castanopsis(1~12%) and Myrica(under 1%) which are warm-temperate evergreen deciduous forest components were constantly appeared from this period. Accordingly, it can be inferred that the present vegetation type around the Mulyeongari fen was formed from ca. 180 cal. yr BP.

산림 입지토양 환경요인에 의한 상수리나무와 신갈나무의 적지추정 (Estimation of Forest Productive Area of Quercus acutissima and Quercus mongolica Using Site Environmental Variables)

  • This study was conducted to estimate site productivity of Quercus acutissima and Quercus mongolica by four forest climatic zones. We used site environmental variables (28 geographical and pedological factors) and site index as a site productivity indicator from nation-wide 23,315 stands. Based on multiple regression analysis between site index and major environmental variables, the best-fit multivaliate models were made by each species and forest climatic zone. Most of site index prediction models by species were regressed with seven to eight factors, including altitude, relief, soil depth, and soil moisture etc. For those models, three evaluation statistics such as mean difference, standard deviation of difference, and standard error of difference were applied to the test data set for the validation of the results. According to the evaluation statistics, it was found that the models by climatic zones and species fitted well to the test data set with relatively low bias and variation. Also having above middle of site index range, total area of productive sites for the two Quercus spp. estimated by those models would be about 6% of total forest area. Northern temperate forest zone and central temperate forest zone had more productive area than southern temperate forest zone and warm temperate forest zone. As a result, it was concluded that the regressive prediction with site environmental variables by climatic zones and species had enough estimation capability of forest site productivity.

북해도 식생에 대한 식물사회학적 고찰 (A Phytosociological Study of Hokkaido Vegetation, Japan)

  • The vegetation and landscape of Hokkaido were phytosociologically referred. The region of F a g e t e a c r e n a t a e on Hokkaido is divided into two types of deciduous broad-leaved forest: the oak (Quercus mongolica var. grosseserrata) forests mixed with conifers (mainly Abies sachalinensis) and the beech (Fagus crenata) forests of northernmost distribution in far-east Asia. The oak forests, which is dominated by Quercus mongolica var. grosseserrata in Japanse islands, seem to be developed from different climatic and edaphic conditions, especially in the amount and sharing pattern of precipitation in a year, and weak acid brown forest soil, volcanic ash soil and sandy soil. On the all-inclusive phytogeographical view-point, Hokkaido is situated at northernmost region of F a g e t e a c r e n a t a e (cool-temperate zone)neighboring with subarctic and subalpine vegetation, vegetation, but the evergreen broad-leaved forest (C a m e l l i e t e a j a p o n i c a e, warm-temperate zone) is abscent.

Components of phytoncide from a pine forest in the southern temperate zone

  • This study was conducted to examine the components of phytoncide from a pine forest in the southern temperate zone. Recent studies have found that a large amount of phytoncide is released not only from cypress trees but also from pine trees. Because the amount released is the highest during summer, we selected a warm climate region in the southern temperate zone and measured the concentration in the month of August. To capture the phytoncide from the forest atmosphere, we used the adsorption tube method with a mini pump and successfully gathered 9 L of forest air at a flow rate of 150 mL/min. We performed duplicate sampling from two different tubes installed at the same location and derived the mean value. A gas chromatography/mass spectrometer detector with thermal desorption spectroscopy was utilized to perform quantitative and qualitative analyses of the captured material. The results showed that the average phytoncide particle of the pine forest in the southern temperate zone contained a number of components as follows in descending order: ${\alpha}$-Pinene (39%, $0.28ng/m^3$), followed by ${\beta}$-Pinene (16%, $0.11ng/m^3$), D-Limonene (8%, $0.06ng/m^3$), camphor (6%, $0.04ng/m^3$), camphene (6%, $0.04ng/m^3$), and p-Cymene (5%, $0.04ng/m^3$). There were also 13 additional phytoncide components in trace amounts. The results of this study are expected to provide a useful dataset for building a "Healing-forest".

입지환경인자를 바탕으로 한 편백의 지위지수 추정에 관한 연구 (The Effects of Site Environmental Factors on Estimation of Site Index Function for Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher Stands)

  • This study was conducted to develop the effects of site environmental factors on estimation of site index function for Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher stands. We derived nonlinear growth equation and the draw site index curves by applying this estimated equation. This study with Chapman-Richards function showed significant P-value which was less then 0.0001 and $R^2$ value 0.5947. This study was conducted to develop the feasible site index equation of Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher. For the table, the data of 82 sample areas that were thought to be without errors among the data of Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher sample area located on the value-oriented forest location chart were used and estimated. After analyzing the quantification method I based on 13 environmental factors to develop the score table for the site-index estimation of Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher, $R^2$ value of the model was 0.7555. It has been analyzed that the scope value of Soil moisture in horizon A was 7.5045, that of total soil depth was 6.3896, that of topography was 5.3471, that of slope was 4.7000 and that of aspect was 3.2038. After analyzing the partial correlation to examine the factors that affected most the site-index of Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher, it has been noted that the partial correlation of climatic zone was 0.4987, which was highest, and it was followed by Soil moisture in horizon A (0.4592), slope (0.4537), topography (0.3299) and total soil depth (0.1035). As a result of conducting the significance test for partial correlation, it has been found that topography, climatic zone, parent rock, slope, altitude, aspect, Soil moisture in horizon A, soil hardness in horizon A and total soil depth were recognized significant with 1% of significance level and sedimentary type and soil texture in horizon A were recognized significant with 5% of significance level.

기상인자(氣象因子)에 의한 우리 나라 산림(山林)의 산지구분(産地區分) (Delineation of Provenance Regions of Forests Based on Climate Factors in Korea)

  • 우리 나라에 적용할 산림용 종자 산지구분(塵地區分)의 첫 단계로 임목집단의 유전생태적 분화에 영향이 큰 연평균 온도, 극한 최저온도, 생육기간중 상대습도, 일조량, 건조지수 등 기상인자를 척도로 수평적 산지를 구분하였다. 적용한 산지구분의 개념은 전형적인 산지구분 형태인 수종별 구분법보다는 전 수종을 포함한 생태지역 개념의 산지구분법에 따랐다. 산림대를 대구분 단위로 하여 산림대별(난대, 온대남부, 온대중부, 온대북부)로 기본구역을 설정하여 유집분석을 근거로 난대 3, 온대남부 6, 온대중부 8, 온대북부 2로 총 19개의 수평적 산지로 구분하였다. 적용한 6개의 척도중 연평균 온도, 극한 최저온도, 생장일수는 산림대별로 난대에서 온대북부 방향으로 일정한 경향을 보였으며 상대습도, 일조량 및 건조지수에서는 일정한 경향을 보이지는 않았으나 산지간에는 많은 차이를 보여 이들 인자는 미세 환경인자에 민감한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에 의해 구분된 산지는 구획 초기단계로 잠정적인 산지로 활용하면서 금후 생물기후도, 산지시험, 유전생태 자료 등이 축적되면 보완해 나갈 것이다.

전라남도 무안군 피서리지역 후기 제4기 퇴적층에서 산출된 포자·화분 연구 (Palynological study of the Late Quaternary sediments at Piseo-ri, Muan, Korea)

  • 무안군 피서리 유적지에 노출된 후기 제4기층에서 포자$\cdot$화분 분석결과,낙엽성 활엽수 화분이 주종을 이루고 있으며 초본류와 침엽수 화분도 풍부하게 산출되었다. 대표적인 종류로는 고란초과, 낙우송과-측백과-주목과, 오리나무속, 서어나무속, 낙엽성 참나무속, 국화과 및 벼과 등이다. 탄소연대측정 결과, 그 생성 시기가 지난 최후 빙하기에 해당하는 43,000-18,000 yr BP 로 측정된 이 포자$\cdot$화분군은 오늘날 한반도 중부의 한랭한 온대 낙엽성 활엽수림의 식생과 유사하다. 전체적인 식생 조성에 근거하여 3개의 포자$\cdot$화분 분대를 설정하였다. Zone I은 고란초과, 낙우송과-측백과-주목과, 오리나무속 및 낙엽성 나무속 등으로 이루어진 한랭한 온대의 낙엽성 활엽수림을 지시하며 특징적으로 난대종이 지속적으로 산출된다. Zone II에서는 고란초과와 낙우송과-측백과-주목과 등이 뚜렷하게 감소하고 초본류가 증가하는 양상을 보이는데 이는 당시에 한랭한 온대의 낙엽성 활엽수림과 함께 부분적으로 초지가 분포했음을 의미한다. Zone III에서는 초본류의 지속적인 산출과 함께 침엽수가 증가하는 경향을 보인다. 피서리 포자·화분군의 식생 조성은당시의 기후가 한랭한 온대였다는 것을 지시하며 시간이 흐르면서 점차 한랭·건조해진 것으로 해석된다.
