The present paper describes the results of performance analysis for UH-60A rotor blade in hover. For the numerical simulations, commercial CFD software, FLUENT was used with Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model. The flow solver was based on node based scheme and second order spatial accuracy options was used for simulations. For the enhancement of wake capturing capability, high resolution grid was used around tip vortex region. Granting that somewhat over prediction of thrust was observed near blade tip region, performance was well correlated with experimental data within 3% accuracy in the operating region. Finally it was shown that the present flow solver can be used for preliminary performance analysis tool for hovering helicopter rotor blades.
The physics of the flow field surrounding an engine nacelle afterbody is very complex. A high pressure jet from the nozzle interacts with the external flow and causes upstream influence on the afterbody surface field. At certain conditions, the nozzle boundary layer can separate, either by shock wave interaction or by adverse pressure gradient effect, resulting in a severe drag penalty. Furthermore, a finite afterbody base implies a recirculating flow region. A flow modeling method has been developed to analyze the flow in the annular base(rear-facing surface) of a circular engine nacelle flying at subsonic speed but with a supersonic exhause jet. Real values of exhaust gas properties and temperature are included.

Axial fans are widely used in heavy machines due to their ability to produce high cooling of engines. At the same time. the noise generated by these fans causes or serious problems. This work is concerned with the low noise technique of discrete. The prediction model. which allowed the calculation of acoustic pressure at the frequency and it's harmonics, has been developed by Farrasat and the Helmholtz-Kir. The newly developed Helmholtz-Kirchhoff BEM for thin body is used to calculate the sound field of the fan that is located in a engine room. To calculate the unsteady resultant force over blade. Time-Marching Free-Wake Method are used. The fan noise of fan sys unsymmetric engine-room is predicted. In this paper. the discussion is confined to and discrete noise of axial fan and front Part of engine room in heavy equipments.

Axial fans are widely used in household electrical appliances due to their easy usage and high flow rate for cooling capacity. At the same time, the noise generated by these fans causes one of serious problems. In order to calculate the noise of a fan, we develop the software IFD - Intranet Fans Design. With this software we can design, analysis the performance and predict the noise of fan. The prediction model, which allowed the calculation of acoustic pressure at the blade passing frequency and it's higher harmonic frequencies, has been developed by Lowson's equation. To calculate the unsteady resultant force of the blade, time-marching free-wake method is used. The objective of this study is to calculate the effects of number of blades, rotating velocity, and sweep angle on the noise of fan..

Axial fans are widely used in heavy machines due to their ability to produce high flow rate for cooling of engines. At the same time, the noise generated by these fans causes one of the most serious problems. This work is concerned with the low noise technique of discrete frequency noise. The prediction model, which allowed the calculation of acoustic pressure at the blade passing frequency and it's harmonics, has been developed by Farrasat. This theory is founded upon the acoustic radiation of unsteady forces acting on blade. To calculate the unsteady resultant force over the fan blade. Time-Marching Free-Wake Method are used. The ideas of low noise technique are obtained from Blade-Momentum Methods. In this paper, the discussion is confined to the performance and discrete noise of axial fan in heavy equipments.
Using 3D computational fluid dynamics techniques in recent years have shed significant light on the Vortex Induced Vibrations (VIV) encountered by deep-water marine risers. The fatigue damage accumulated due to these vibrations has posed a great concern to the offshore industry. This paper aims to present an algorithm to predict the crossflow and inline fatigue damage for very long (L/D > $10^3$) marine risers using a Finite-Analytical Navier-Stokes (FANS) technique coupled with a tensioned beam motion solver and rainflow counting fatigue module. Large Eddy Simulation (LES) method has been used to simulate the turbulence in the flow. An overset grid system is employed to mesh the riser geometry and the wake field around the riser. Risers from NDP (2003) and Miami (2006) experiments are used for simulation with uniform, linearly sheared and non-uniform (non-linearly sheared) current profiles. The simulation results including inline and crossflow motion, modal decomposition, spectral densities and fatigue damage rate are compared to the experimental data and useful conclusions are drawn.

Three dimensional flow fields around passenger car body was computed by PAM-FLOW, well-known and validated computer program for thermal and fluid analysis. Regarding the computational method, a Navier-Stokes solver based on finite element method with various turbulent models and adaptive grid technique (H-refinement)was adopted. The results were physically reasonable and compared with experimental data, giving good agreement. It was found that three dimensional flow simulation with H-refinement technique had potential for prediction of low fie이 around vehicle and the ability to predict vortex in the wake, which is vital for CFD to be used for automobile aerodynamic calculation.

This paper describes a helicopter vibration induced by main rotor in forward flight. The hub loads in the fixed frame, which are dominant source of helicopter vibration, are obtained by multi-blade summation of rotating blades loadings. The components of 3/rev, 4/rev, and 5/rev blades loadings are transmitted by blades to 4/rev hub loads in the fixed frame. The vertical vibrations of helicopter at pilot seat and copilot seat are calculated through rigid body transfer functions considering airframe to be rigid body. The blades are assumed to be elastic and undergo the flap, lag, and torsion motion and free wake aerodynamic model is used to calculate the precise blade loadings in the analysis. The 4/rev vertical vibration responses are analyzed from rotating blade loadings and fixed hub loadings.
Numerical analysis of three-dimensional viscous flow-fields in the turbine rotor passages is carried out to investigate flow physics including the interaction between secondary vortices, tip leakage vortex, and the rotor wake. The blade tip geometry is accurately modeled adopting the embedded H grid topology. An explicit four-stage Runge-Kutta scheme is used for the time integration of both the mean flow and turbulence equations. The computational results for the entire turbine rotor flows, particularly the tip clearance flow and the secondary flows, are interpreted and compared with the experimental data from the Penn State turbine stage. Good agreement between the experimental data and the numerical prediction was achieved in the sense of the major features of the flow fields.

Mathematical model of maneuvering motion for a single-screw single-rudder ship is established and several applications to the special situations of maneuvering are attempted. While the mathematical model for twin-screw twin-rudder ship is not studied presented so much because that type of ship is not popular. Lee et al. have examined the characteristics of such ship by captive model tests in 1988 in Japan. This paper proposes new mathematical models for propeller effective wake (1-wp) and effective neutral rudder angle $\delta$R in the case of twin-screw twin-rudder ship. And some maneuvering motions are calculated with proposed models and compared with exact simulations.
