  • As a functionally complicated facility, it requires rational strategy to accommodate multi-functional needs to plan a hospital. Ambulatory surgery units located in large hospitals have problems such as longer waiting time and congestion for patients due to complicated planning and organization within limited area, which raise needs for independent ambulatory surgery centers to enable smoother medical treatment for patients. To design an independent ambulatory surgery center, understanding of zoning and layout of each unit needs is particularly required. This study focuses on research of efficient zoning/organization of day surgery unit and circulation arrangements of ambulatory surgery centers by analyzing various examples abroad, which will eventually help finding appropriate way of planning domestic ambulatory surgery centers. Specific area of research includes ambulatory surgery process, programmatic requirements, spatial organization of the facility, layout of surgery unit and circulation arrangements of ambulatory surgery centers.

  • Performances of common zone with various sizes are examined for possible demand rate variations for an AS/RS. Common zone is a middle area located between the 1st class and the 2nd class to be used by the 1st class Items if the assigned racks are not enough. This area is designed to resolve the rack shortage problem associated with a particular class. In the previous researches, effect of demand rate variation is Ignored since flxed demand rate is assumed. It is found that rack shortage rate is decreased up to 67% of common zone size. However, no difference is found at above 70%. Waiting time tends to be longer with Increased common zone while travel time and throughput are not affected at all with the common zone sloe.

Based on the case of Yeoju Area, the contribution of the DRT was analyzed. The DRT model was established as a fixed and call type model with taxi and bus transportation. Based on the results of the happy taxi service in Yeoju Area in 2016, the contribution of DRT was analyzed. According to the happy taxi performance of Yeoju city, it was introduced to 27 villages, and operated 4,188 times. And 9,111 people used it and Yeoju Area supported about 53 million Won. The contribution of local governments was analyzed in terms of local government, users, and social aspects. On local government aspects, we analyzed the budget cuts and complaints resolution. On the user aspects, we analyzed waiting time reduction, walking time reduction, travel time reduction, comfort, punctuality, and stability. On social aspects, we analyzed taxi and regional economy activation, and convenience of mobility.

  • As the quality of life Increases, most people are much interested in their health. The latest knowledge and concepts are newly employed and consistently extended in the field of medical facilities as well. The purpose of this study is to investigate space-structural features of dental clinics, to analyze space components in two aspects, the function and the moving path, to provide with base materials for interior design research, and, as a result, to contribute to the improvement of dental clinics. The visitor survey method was implemented in five dental offices haying opened since 2000. The survey results show that each area is distributed as follows; the consultation room is the largest, the waiting space is secondly largest, and the facility area of medical assistance and administration is the smallest. The consultation space can be designed as semi-opened or opened. Considering moving paths, each should not be too long for the communication between doctors and patients, and for the effective medical examination and treatment. The survey indicates medical assistants have the longest moving path because they fully utilize every space. Based on the survey results described above, more systematic in-depth studies should be performed in the future.

The results obtained were as follows. 1) For keeping temperature of meals until service to students Refrigerator or warming cabinet or putting meals on low flames were used, and the amount for one person was almost decided by rough estimation by experience. All the foods remained were discarded. Also most of the cooking manager's age were from 50 to 59 and almost cooking managers graduated middle school. The fuel to cook was gas or kerosene. • Jukseoru as an official pavilion of the government, one of the eight sceneries in Gwndong Area, is located on the cliff over Osipcheon River. This paper interprets form and space of the pavilion with restored old life by analyzing pictures of official party in 18th century in Chosun Dynasty. Every part of the space is occupied by persons by the class and duty: the pricipal guest, nobles, subordinates, gisaengs, court musicians, and guards from the high to the low and from the inside to the outside. Applying the analysis to the Jukseoru pavilion, the noblest lord takes sit on the platform in front of folded screen at main bay under checked ceiling, enclosed by low timber beam. The next northern end bay is a place for subordinates' and servants' waiting for preparation for rice wine. Southern end entrance bay is not a result of later addition but deliberately and originally made for lower place outside the railing of wooden floor: for a waiting woman gisaeng, and subordinates. Outside under the eaves on the platform with bedrock, artificial stone and soil is a place for court musicians, subordinates, and guards. The yard in front of the building is a place for preparing meals by cookers. Every detailed ornamental form is different each other by the place for the occupied class. Existing theory tells that the building, 7 bays gable-and-hipped roof, is a result of structural extention of 2 bays at the 5 bays gabled-roof. However, through the interpretation of old pictures and application to the pavilion, the present Juseoru is not a result of later structural addition, but deliberately designed creation suited to life in hierarchical traditional society.

  • Studies on the concentration of airborne microorganisms in human medicine as a part of a study on the nosocomial infections have been conducted properly, but in veterinary medicine, there has been rarely performed in Korea to the best of study's knowledge. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the distribution of airborne microorganisms and to identify their species in different places in the animal hospital to alert the necessity of thorough cleanliness management. This study evaluated the concentrations of airborne bacteria and fungi in hospital areas, such as patient waiting room, internal medicine ward, surgical ward and radiological diagnostic ward. The concentration of bacteria and fungi was significantly lower (p < 0.05) in two operating rooms and higher in the patient waiting room. The dominant species of bacteria were Micrococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., and fungi were Penicillium spp., Dermatophyte mold. Animal hospitals need to perform proper procedures for disinfection, sterilization, and environmental cleaning as well as appropriate employee training and monitoring in order to the maximum prevention of the risk of nosocomial and surgical infections.
