노년남성의 체형별 상의 치수 체계 (The Upper Garment Sizing Systems according to Somatotype of Elderly Men)

  • The purpose of this study was to establish the upper garment sizing systems for elderly men. These were on the basis of classification of 294 elderly men's somatotypes aged between 60 and 80 with the extent of drop value and analysis of the sizing systems of men's wear companies. The results were as follows: First, the sizing systems of men's wear companies were established with priority given to the young and the middle whose heights were taller than the elderly. There was no sizing system only for elderly men in men's wear companies. Secondly, as the height range increased, the size of chest and waist proportionally increased; however, the waist sizes were limited to somewhat small size ranges. So the sizing systems of men's wear companies had difficulty in covering up the developed-waist somatotype of the elderly. Thirdly, only 1 company out of 10 established the sizing system according to the somatotype. Lastly, the total numbers of size which were established by this study according to somatotype were 40; 18 sizes were set for type A, 10 for type Y, and 12 for type B. The standard sizes were 97-88-165 for type A,94-79-165 for type Y, and 97-94-165 for type B.

성인 여성의 기성복 치수에 관한 연구 (A study on the Size for Women's Ready-to-wear)

  • The Purpose of this study is provide fundamental data on a suitable sizes of ready-to-wear for women. The subjects of the survey were 300 female of 18 to 24 years old. They were measured direct anthropometry. Height, bust girth, waist girth and hip girth were grouped by KS interval. Data were analyzed by use of Cross Tab method. The results of this study were as follows. Body group of the anthropometric measurements were summed up as follows. Height was divided into 4 section(155-170), bust girth was divided into 7 section(76-94), waist girth was divided into 6 section(61-76) and hip girth was divided into 9 section(84-100). The characteristics of cross tab can be summarized as follows. Section with application ratio are 155-160cm of height, 82-85cm for bust girth, 64-70cm for waist girth and 86-94cm for hip girth. The sizes of high cover ratio of well-fitting jacket, dress, coat and one-piece was 17 sizes, well-fitting an upper garment and the whole body garment item except that was 16 sizes, and a lower garment was 21 sizes.

  • This study surveyed some general fit problem of the ready-to-wear slacks of women in 20's. A questionnaire survey was administered to 80 women in 20's. 14 body dimensions were measured fer 53 women among the subjects who participated in this survey. Their anthropometric data were analyzed and the difference between actual and perceived body shape was compared. The results of this study showed that the subjects experienced poor slacks fit at thigh, crotch, and hip areas. Occasionally subjects altered the waist size of slacks after purchasing them. Despite the subjects' waist measurement was ranged from 22 to 33 inches, most of them purchased slacks with size 26 or 27 inches. The researchers claimed that the manufacturers did not provide various slacks sizes for women in 20's. The subjects, who had problems with poor slacks ft, preferred to buy customized slacks. The most of subjects preferred to buy mass customized slacks to have chance to choose their own style from pool of various styles. The subjects tended to perceive their body size larger than actual at hip and thigh. The most critical body dimension reflected their perception on lower body fitness was waist circumference.

노년기 남성의 하반신 체형 분석 및 하의류 치수 체계 연구 (Analysis of Lower-body and Development of Suit-pants Size System for the Elderly Males)

  • This study established a lower garment sizing system for elderly men over 65 years of age based on 535 males selected from the 5th Korean Anthropometric survey. The results are as follows. Most elderly men body measurements were smaller for adult males (except for the waist area); however, abdominal obesity has changed to body type. The standard deviation was applied around the average values of waist circumference and hip circumference for the suggestion of a lower garment sizing system for elderly men. The interval between the designation was ${\pm}2.5cm$ with an average waist circumference of 86 cm and ${\pm}2cm$ with an average hip circumference of 92 cm. A total of 13 designation sections were established in consideration of the cover ratio and cover efficiency. The cover ratio in the 13 nominal sections was 77.2%. The segmental distribution rate presented in the results will also be useful for production planning in specific sizes and enable rational production.

  • This study analyzed the change pattern of Korean male body size in their 40s-60s and their current body shape based on the research materials of the 5th(2004) and 6th(2010) conducted by Size Korea. The purposes of this study are to make the related fashion industry recognize the changes of Korean male body size in their 40s-60s and suggest basic materials for clothing design that reflects such trend. As a result of analyzing changes of male body size in their 40s-60s by age, it was found that height, length, breadth and weight decreased across most of the items as the age increased. As for circumference, as the age increased, waist circumference (natural indentation), waist circumference (omphalion), and abdominal extension circumference increased, while other items decreased. In relation to the depth, as the age increased, hip depth and armscye depth decreased, while chest depth, bust depth, waist depth (natural indentation), and waist depth (omphalion) increased. Analyzing the change pattern of Korean male body size in their 40s-60s according to measurement year, height size increased in the 6th year across most of the body part items compared to the 5th year. It means that height of body parts related to body height increased in overall. As for circumference, most items showed decrease, which means that Korean male's body shape in their 40s-60s gets slim gradually. While the breadth of the chest decreased, the depth of the chest increased. which is assumed due to the increase in exercise according to high interest in health in a society. It will be possible to design proper clothes for consumer body type and trends if we design clothes that afford multilateral attention to the patterns, design, or material in clothing design by applying the aspects of Korean male body size in their 40s-60s and body type change.

중국 의복사이즈의 규격설정에 관한 현황분석 (Analysis of Current Size Establishment of Clothing Sizes in China)

  • For the advance of Korea's ready-made clothes industry into China, we need some information about the body types of the Chinese and the sizes of ready-made clothes. The purpose of this study is to prepare basic data about the reality and process of the size establishment of clothing sizes in China. The conclusions are as follows. 1. Clothing size establishment was made three times in 1981, 1991, and 1997. At present, the version of 'GB/T 1335-1997 Size' is used. 2. 'GB/T 1335-1997 Size' is composed as follows. \circled1 Based on the drop values of chest girth and waist girth, 4 (Y. A, B, C) body types of adult men and women were chosen. \circled2 Sizes contains Ho and Hyoung, 'Ho' refer to height (cm) and serve as the standard of length, while 'Hyoung' indicate chest girth (cm) and act as the standard of girth. \circled3 The size divisions of the 3 basic items for adults are 5cm (height), 4cm (chest girth), and 2cm (waist girth). So they are named '5ㆍ4, 5ㆍ2 size series', \circled4 For grading in dress production, approximate values to the means of the 2 basic items are called 'center types'.\circled5 Other necessary items for clothing design besides 3 basic items are named 'control items'. \circled6 For babies, children, and adolescents, no body type classification is established. Instead, size series are established according to body height.

성인 여성의 체형별 연령층별 상의 치수 체계 (Classification of Sizing System for Women′s Upper Clothes According to Body Type and Age Group)

  • This paper proposed the sizing system for women's upper clothes in order to improve clothing fitness and raise the productivity. The sizing system was classified according to 5 body types and 5 age groups. The size intervals of the basic dimensions were established at regular intervals centering around their means. The size interval of stature was 8cm centering around 158cm and that of bust girth 4cm centering around 84cm and that of hip girth 4cm centering around 92cm. Frequency distribution on the size of upper clothes showed that the most frequent size were 96-96-150 in the longest-fattest type, 88-96-158 in the long-fatter type, 84-92-158 in the medium length-fat type, 84-92-166 in the Short-balanced type, and 76-88-158 and 80-88-158 in the medium length-balanced type. The number of the sizes of upper clothes, which had frequencies more than 5%, was 32 and each size was presented with waist girth, back waist length and sleeve length. The size system classified by age group had 22 cases in the early twenties, 15 cases in the late twenties, 21 cases in the early thirties, 19 cases in the late thirties, and 15 cases in the forties.

중년 여성이 선호하는 브랜드 레깅스 치수체계 분석 (Analysis of the Sizing System of Branded Leggings Preferred by Middle-aged Women)

  • This is a basic study to recommend a legging sizing system suitable for middle-aged women. This study aims to explore and analyze the sizing system of branded leggings for middle-aged women. Therefore, 40 pairs of leggings from 20 brands preferred by middle-aged women were first selected to compare their sizing systems. Thus, it was found that the size distribution of legging brands varied significantly, and the number of sizes or the size deviation also varied depending on the brands or products. Second, the adult female age groups were classified as 18-24 years, 25-34 years, 35-44 years, and 45-59 years. Additionally, the distribution of the waist and hip circumferences by age group was compared with the size specifications of the leggings. Leggings with large differences between size specifications and body size distribution were identified in each age group. In the case of women aged 45 to 59, the size distribution suitability of branded leggings was found to be the lowest among the four age groups. Furthermore, it was also found that it is important to reflect the body size distribution, especially the waist circumference, to establish a legging sizing system suitable for women aged 45 to 59 years.

A Study on the Somatotype Characteristics of Korean Adult Men: A Comparison between the Data of the 5th Anthropometry of Size Korea and 6th Anthropometry of Size Korea

  • Objective: The objective of the study is to analyze adult men's somatotype characteristics, age range from 20s to 50s comparing the direct anthropometric measurement values and to provide the basis information for developing clothing patterns. Background: The comparative study among the age groups is very fundamental to understand the body characteristics of each subjects group. Therefore, comparison of body measurements in age groups was applied in this study. Method: The anthropometric data from the $5^{th}$ Anthropometry of Size Korea(2004) and $6^{th}$ Anthropometry of Size Korea(2010) were applied for the data analysis. Results: As a result, the chest depth/chest width index(the value of chest depth divided by chest width) was increased and the waist depth/waist width index was decreased in all age groups. In addition, the hip depth/hip width index was decreased in age of 20's and 50's. This means that the chest width and hip width were decreased and the waist width were increased. From the data of the 5th Size Korea, the obese men(BMI: 25~30) in the 50s showed the highest percentage of 47.1%, and 44.8% of obese men(BMI: 25~30) in the 40s recorded the highest rate base on the data of the 6th Size Korea. Conclusion: It is concluded that the some differences were showed between the 5th anthropometric data and the 6th data. In particular, obesity tendencies of men in their 20's and 30's were observed significantly compared to other age groups. Application: These findings from the study can be utilized men's wear design and construction that reflect body characteristics.

학령 후기 여아의 청바지 착용실태 및 치수 불만족 조사 (Survey on Actual Wearing and Size Dissatisfaction with Jeans for Upper Grade Elementary School Girls)

  • This study identified actual wearing and size dissatisfaction with jeans worn by upper grade elementary school girls. A survey was conducted on 147 10~12-year-old girls in order to collect basic data to design a slim fit jeans pattern for upper grade elementary school girls. The result of the study are as follows. Upper grade elementary school girls wore jeans at least once a week, 46.9% were 1~2 times, 31.3% were 3~4 times and 21.8% were more than 5 times per week. The size of the jeans they wear was often one size or two sizes larger than the actual height section. Upper grade elementary school girls preferred jeans that fit well and allow for a full range of motion; in addition, waist and hip measurements were important criteria when selecting size. The preferred length of jeans was those that go to the ankle along with slim-style jeans made of "cotton+spandex". In terms of dissatisfaction with jeans, upper grade elementary school girls showed discomfort when the lower back waistline slipped when sitting and when there was a tight crotch area.
