  • In this paper, an algorithm to compensate the distorted signals due to CT(Current Transformer) saturation is suggested. Firstly, WT(Wavelet Transform) is used to detect a start point and an end point of saturation. Filter banks which can be easily realized in real-time applications are employed in detecting CT saturation. Secondly, least-square curve fitting method is used to restore the distorted section of the secondary current. Fault simulations are performed on a power system model using EMTP(Electromagnetic Transient Program). A series of test results indicate that WT has superior detection accuracy and the proposed algorithm which shows very stable features under various levels of remanent flux is also satisfactory.

  • 본 논문에서는 WT(Wavelet Transform)와 SVD(Singular Value Decomposition)기법을 결합한 WSVD(Wavelet Singular Value Decomposition)를 사용하여, 송전계통에서 부하 탈락 시 나타나는 특성 및 외란검출의 유효성을 분석하였다.

  • It is a weak point of the motion estimation technique for video compression that the predicted video encoding algorithm requires higher-order computational complexity. To reduce the computational complexity of encoding algorithms, researchers introduced techniques such as 3D-WT that don't require motion prediction. One of the weakest points of previous 3D-WT studies is that they require too much memory for encoding and too long delay for decoding. In this paper, we propose a technique called `FS (Fast playable and Scalable) 3D-WT' This technique uses a modified Haar wavelet transform algorithm and employs improved encoding algorithm for lower memory and shorter delay requirement. We have executed some tests to compare performance of FS 3D-WT and 3D-V. FS 3D-WT has exhibited the same high compression rate and the same short processing delay as 3D-V has.

  • The main objective of this paper is to investigate the potential utility of multisensor remotely sensed data for improved coastal wetland mapping. Five data fusion models, three algebraic models (Multiplicative (MT), Brovey (BT) and Wavelet transform (WT)) and two spectral domain models (Principals component transform (PCT) and Intensity-Hue-Saturation (IHS)) were implemented and tested over the multisensor data. The fused images were then compared based on visual and statistical approaches. The results show that the wavelet transform provides greater flexibility for combining optical data sets and has good potential for preserving the spatial and spectral content of the original images . However, this model yields poor information when combining optical and microwave data. Brovey transform is more reliable for fusing optical and microwave image data and yields improved information about different wetland features of the coastal zone.

  • This paper studied the PVDF(polyvinylidene fluoride) and Acoustic Emission sensors characteristics of the laminated composite panels under the low velocity impact. The various impact test by changing impact height is performed on the instrumented drop weight impact tester. The STFT(short time Fourier transform) and WT(wavelet transform) are used to decompose the each sensor signals. A ultrasonic C-scan and digital scope are used to define damaged area in each case. The test result indicated that the individual sensor signals involve the damage initiation and development.

  • In this paper, we presented WT(wavelet transform) domain feedback canceller in hearing aids system. Most transform methods produce blocking effect and this effect degrades the performance of feedback canceller and overall hearing aids system. As a solution we proposed WT based feedback canceller. The performance of this new approach was compared with LOT (lapped orthogonal transform) based method in the frequency domain. As a result, WT based feedback canceller has not shown the blocking effect and improved convergence rate as compared with the LOT based feedback canceller.

  • A new approach is presented for the analysis of transient waves propagating in anisotropic composite laminates. The wavelet transform (WT) using the Gabor wavelet is applied to the time-frequency analysis of dispersive flexural waves. It is shown that the peaks of the magnitude of WT in time-frequency domain is related to the arrival times of group velocity. Experiments are performed using a lead break as the simulated fracture source on the surface of quasi-isotropic and unidirectional laminates. For predictions of the dispersion of the flexural mode, Mindlin plate theory is shown to give good agreement with the experimental results. Based on the frequency-dependent arrival times and angular dependence of group velocities of flexural waves, the problem of source location in anisotropic laminates is considered and the results are given.

  • This paper presents an approach to classify normal and epilepsy from electroencephalogram(EEG) using a neural network with weighted fuzzy membership functions(NEWFM). To extract input features used in NEWFM, wavelet transform is used in the first step. In the second step, the frequency distribution of signal and the amount of changes in frequency distribution are used for extracting twenty-four numbers of input features from coefficients and approximations produced by wavelet transform in the previous step. NEWFM classifies normal and epilepsy using twenty four numbers of input features, and then the accuracy rate is 98%.

  • The large AC generator fault may lead to large impacts or perturbations in power system. The generator protection control systems in Korea have been imported and operated through a turn-key from overseas entirely. Therefore a study of the generator protection field has in urgent need for a stable operation of the imported goods. In present, the algorithm using the current ratio differential relaying based DFT for stator winding protection or a fault detection had been applied that of internal fault protection of a generator. the DFT used for the analysis of transient state signal conventionally had defects losing a time information in the course of transforming a target signal to frequency domain. In this paper, the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) was applied a fault detection of the generator being superior to a transient state signal analysis and being easy to real time realization. The fault signals after executing a terminal fault modeling collect using a MATLAB package, and calculate the wavelet coefficients through the process of a muiti-level decomposition (MLD). The proposed algorithm for a fault detection using the Daubechies WT (wavelet transform) was executed with a C language and the commend line function for the real time realization after analyzing MATLAB's graphical interface. The advanced technique had improved faster a speed of fault discrimination than a conventional DFR based on DFT.
