According to the ubiquitous trend, the needs for the context based application service have been increased. These services take on Location Based Service which is based on the current location of users. It is widely used that localization techniques use GPS or ground wave and more efficient and accurate methods have been studied. Recently, not only services which targeted outdoor but also services which targeted indoor, for example home services and facility guidance of the building come into the spotlight. In case of the outdoor positioning area, COTH (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) has been released and used but relatively it doesn't produce an outcome in the indoor positioning area. Therefore, this paper Proposes the indoor positioning technique using wireless LAN (Local Area Network) which is one of the widely used wireless communication technique. It analyzes the typical WLAN location positioning methodology has been studied and their advantage and disadvantage also suggests how to design and implement the specific WLAN positioning system. In addition, it suggests new methods that progress the accuracy of the existing systems and improve the efficient computation.

In this paper, a design method for a compact dual-band coplanar waveguide-fed slot antenna using SRR(split-ring resonator) conductor is studied. The SRR conductor is loaded inside a rectangular slot of the proposed antenna for dual-band operation. When the SRR conductor is inserted into the slot, the original rectangular slot is divided into a rectangular loop region and a rectangular slot region, and frequency bands are created by the loop and slot, separately. A prototype of the proposed dual-band slot antenna operating at 2.45 GHz WLAN band and 3.40-5.35 GHz band is fabricated on an FR4 substrate with a dimension of 30 mm by 30 mm. Experiment results show that the antenna has a desired impedance characteristic with a frequency band of 2.38-2.51 GHz and 3.32-5.38 GHz for a voltage standing wave < 2, and measured gain is 1.7 dBi at 2.45 GHz, and it ranges 2.4-3.2 dBi in the second band.

The application range of IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN has rapidly expanding from campus, enterprise to the public network of Hot Spot area due to the advantages of easiness of construction, mobility of wireless client station, convenience of usage and so on. However the security of WLAN(Wireless LAN) is vulnerable inherently because of using RF as a medium, and so the dangers of infringement of personal information and inside data of enterprises have increased and wardriving attack searching for security vulnerability in wireless LAN has become more serious especially. In this paper, we find out the overview of various procedures and preparatory stages for wardriving attack against wireless LAN, and propose complementary methods to prevent information infringement accidents from wardriving attack in wireless LAN. For this purpose, we make an equipment which is suitable for wardriving in wireless LAN and show security vulnerability of AP(Access Point) operation in WLAN around Yangjae-Dong in Seoul as a result of using the equipment.

In this paper, a small internal antenna for a mobile handset is presented using multiband, wideband, and high-isolation multiple-input multiple-output techniques. The proposed antenna consists of three planar inverted-F antennas (PIFAs) that operate in the global system for mobile communication (GSM900), the digital communication system (DCS), the personal communication system (PCS), the universal mobile telecommunication system (UMTS), and wireless local area network (WLAN) bands with a physical size of $40mm{\times}10mm{\times}10mm$. A resonator attached to the folded PIFA creates dual resonances, achieving a wide bandwidth of approximately 460 MHz, covering the DCS, PCS, and UMTS bands; a meander shorting line is used to improve impedance matching. Additionally, a modified neutralization link is embedded between diversity antennas to enhance isolation, which results in a 6-dB improvement in the isolation and less than 0.1 in the envelope correlation coefficient evaluated from the far-field radiation patterns. Simulation and measurements demonstrate very similar results for S-parameters and radiation patterns. Peak gains show 3.73 dBi, 3.77 dBi, 3.28 dBi, 2.15 dBi, and 5.86 dBi, and antenna efficiencies show 56.15%, 72.15%, 68.59%, 52.92%, and 82.93% for GSM900, DCS, PCS, UMTS, and WLAN bands, respectively.

An eight-element compact low-profile multi-input multi-output (MIMO) antenna is proposed for wireless local area network (WLAN) mobile applications. The proposed antenna consists of eight inverted-F antennas with an isolation-enhanced structure. By inserting the isolation-enhanced structure between the antenna elements, the slot and capacitor pair generates additional resonant frequency and decreases mutual coupling between the antenna elements. The overall size of the proposed antenna is only $33mm{\times}33mm$, which is integrated into an area of just $0.5{\lambda}{\times}0.5{\lambda}$. The proposed antenna meets 5-GHz WLAN standards with an operation bandwidth of 4.86 - 5.27 GHz and achieves an isolation of approximately 30 dB at 5 GHz. The simulated and measured results for the proposed antenna are presented and compared.

In this paper, we present the 2.4 ㎓ and 5 ㎓ dual band antenna fur access point of WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network). The proposed antenna must have equal gains in both frequency bands to accept two services. We proposed using collinear array to compensate gain difference for two different frequency bands. Simulation results using 3D simulation program, CST MWS(Microwave Studio), for dual band antenna with collinear away show that the maximum gain is about 4.7 dBi at 2.4 ㎓, 5.2 dBi at 5.7 ㎓. We got additional gain of about 2.1 ㏈ with collinear array for 2.4 ㎓ in measurement. Measured results for the dual band antenna with collinear array show applicable performances for access point of wireless LAN.

A microstrip feedline based open ended folded-slot antenna is proposed for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications. The prototype of the proposed antenna is fabricated on the FR4 dielectric substrate. The proposed antenna has a wide n-shaped slot that is useful for designing circuit components on the same printed circuit board (PCB) as that of the radio frequency (RF) modules. The proposed antenna use two kinds of slots as radiators, and each slots have different characteristics because of the different type of ends of the slot. The wideband characteristic can be obtained by resonances of each slot which are occurred at different frequencies. The measured impedance bandwidth (S11≤ -10 dB) is 2.9-11.56 GHz, and the antenna peak gain is 2-4 dBi over the UWB range. The antenna has a stable omni-directional radiation pattern and only a small group-delay variation across the UWB passband. In addition, we present a modified design with band-notched characteristics of a 5 GHz wireless local area network (WLAN) frequency band.

The implementation of a low phase noise voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) is important for the signal integrity of wireless communication terminal. A low phase noise wideband VCO for a wireless local area network (WLAN) application is presented in this paper. A 6-bit coarse tune capacitor bank (capbank) and a fine tune varactor are used in the VCO to cover the target band. The simulated oscillation frequency tuning range is from 8.6 to 11.6 GHz. The proposed VCO is desgned using 65 nm CMOS technology with a high quality (Q) factor bondwire inductor. The VCO is biased with 1.8 V VDD and shows 9.7 mA current consumption. The VCO exhibits a phase noise of -122.77 and -111.14 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset from 8.6 and 11.6 GHz carrier frequency, respectively. The calculated figure of merit(FOM) is -189 dBC/Hz at 1 MHz offset from 8.6 GHz carrier. The simulated results show that the proposed VCO performance satisfies the required specification of WLAN standard.
