  • This paper analyzes the interference effect of WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) service on WiBro(Wireless Broadband) service in adjacent frequency band by using Monte Carlo method. For the analysis, we make scenario that WLAN service operates on frequency band of 2401 MHz ~ 2423 MHz and WiBro service operates on frequency band of 698 MHz ~ 704 MHz. In case of WiBro receiver is close to WLAN AP(Access Point), the interference will be increased. So, we calculate the protection distance between WiBro receiver and WLAN AP to meet interference probability of 5 % below and required interference power of WLAN AP to meet interference probability of 5 % below in the case of fixed protection distance. As a result, the protection distance of 60 m and -9.5 dBm of required interference power of WLAN AP at 10 m of the fixed protection distance are analyzed.

  • Currently, Wireless LAN(WLAN) service is widely deployed to provide high speed wireless Internet access through the mobile stations such as notebook and PDA. To provide enhanced security and user access control in the public WLAN area, WLAN access points should have the capability of IEEE 802.1x-based user authentication and authorization functionality. In this paper, we provide a brief understanding of IEEE 802.1x standards and related protocols like EAPOL(Extended Authentication Protocol Over LAN), EAP, RADIUS and describe how the IEEE 802.1x is designed and implemented in our embedded linux-based WLAN AP which is named i-WiNG. (Intelligent Wireless Internet Gateway). For the network security and user authenti -cation purposes, a supplicant who wants to access Internet should be authorized to access the AP port using the EAPOL.

  • The increase of smartphone users have made mobile carriers offload increasingly congested traffic of 3/4G by providing Wi-Fi hot-spots in the public places such as coffee shops and subway stations. In the traditional authentication in WLAN, the users should convince the service providers that they are valid customers before they use WLAN services. Since the authentication protocol is designed for service providers. Even with the mutual authentication based on the IEEE 802.1X, which is supported by IEEE 802.11 standard, it is difficult to be convinced of that the service providers really have installed the WLAN APs, which users are confronted with. An attacker can install rogue APs that masquerade as legitimate APs by copying the SSID, MAC address, etc. in order to obtain users' private information. In this paper, we introduce a method of authenticating legitimate APs for smartphone users. And we show our proposal can be well utilized for the current Wi-Fi hot-spots as a security plug-in and prove it through our experiments.

  • Knowledge of the physical locations of access point of WLAN is becoming increasingly important with the rise of location-based services. In this article, we propose a new AP localization method using neural network approach. Basic theory and properties are derived for precise outdoor AP localization using GPS location information and RSSI. Rules for neural network model are derived and simulation has finally been done to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method. The simulation results show that the proposed method can result in AP localization with very. low error probability.

  • In this paper, we propose the location determination system of an agent mobile device using the information provided by the WLAN(Wireless LAN) infrastructure. This system is configured as a typical ESS(Extended Service Set)-type WLAN structure with real-time location positioning engine and thru AP(Access Point) controller. The positioning engine collects the information of agent devices using SNMP(Small Network Management Protocol) thru AP controller and utilize those information as Cell ID. for LBS(Location Based Service). In the result of a real office environment implementation, the average success rate of inter-AP roaming is measured to 62.5% and the duration time of the device information update within the AP is average of 11 second of time, which means this system is adaptable to the location based service of above average accuracy but somewhat less urgency.

  • Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is recently become popular on the internet since we can download and transfer mass data through it. However, transferring data with distances over 100m often causes some troubles. When downloading mass data from moving vehicles such as cars, jeeps, tanks, etc., if the download process from the first AP (Access Point) is not completed then we have to re-start this process from the second AP (from 0%). Therefore, the question is how to maintain the data we have received from the first AP, and then continuously download remaining data from the next APs in a battlefield environment. In this paper, we propose an effective method for receiving mass data separately from the mobile receive nodes in a Delay Tolerant Network (DTN). We carried on an experiment and evaluation by simulation; these simulation results are provided to show the proposed information delivery scheme performance.

  • This paper is about the experiment which is throughput of WLANs based on 802.11 due to interference each other. Recently, WLAN has been increased due to generalization of smart-phone and potable notebook. Therefore, the decrease of throughput because of interference between WLANs is expected. In regard of this, the throughput of WLANs according to channelling is measured in order to figure out efficient channelling and the throughput of WLANs according to the number of AP was measured in order to get relation between number of AP and throughput. Then, more efficient channelling of 1, 5, 9, 13 is suggested and the throughput of WLAN is decreased as increasing of number of AP.

  • With the development of mobile internet, requirements of positioning accuracy for the LBS (Location Based Service) are becoming more and more higher. The LBS is based on the position of each mobile device. So, it requires a proper acquisition of accurate user's indoor position. Thus indoor positioning technology and its accuracy is crucial for various LBS. In general, RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) measurements are used to obtain the position information of mobile unit under WLAN environment. However, indoor positioning error increases as multiple AP's configurations are becoming more complex. To overcome this problem, an enhanced indoor localization method by AP (Access Point) selection criteria adopting DOP (Dilution of Precision) is proposed.

  • The handover procedure of IEEE 802.11 wireless local area networks (WLANs) introduces significant delay, which can degrade the quality of service (QoS) especially for delay-sensitive applications. Although studies have been conducted to support handover in SDN-based WLAN, there is no research to reduce the channel scanning procedure that takes up the most delay time in the handover process. The channel scanning procedure is essential to determine the appropriate access point (AP). To mitigate this problem, this paper proposes a SWITCH: SDN-WLAN integrated handover scheme for QoS-Guaranteed mobile service. In SWITCH, each AP periodically broadcasts beacon frames through different channels in a predetermined order that includes the operating channel information of the AP. This allows mobile stations (MSs) to receive the beacon frames of nearby APs, and therefore they can determine the appropriate APs for handover without the channel scanning procedure. By reporting the information of the newly moved AP to the SDN controller, a flow rule is installed in advance to provide fast handover, and packet loss is reduced by buffering data destined for MS. In addition, the proposed scheme can adaptively operate SWITCH to consider the user location and QoS requirement of flow to save radio resource overhead. Performance evaluation results demonstrate that SWITCH can reduce the handover delays, flow table utilization ratio and radio resource overhead while improving the network throughput.

MN은 이동성 패턴 레코드를 저장하고, 또한 각 이웃 AR(Access Router)은 AP의 AP-ID(BSSID, Basic Service Set ID)와 채널을 저장한다.
