We also contacted WHO-CHOICE team at WHO to identify the contents not clearly presented in the documents. Results: The WHO-CHOICE programme is a standardized tool for analyzing and comparing the cost effectiveness of health promotion policies. It is composed of PopMod to measure the health effect of intervention and of CostIt to measure the cost. The cost of tobacco control policy in Korea was analyzed with the cooperation of WHO-CHOICE team preliminary, and the results were different with the results of tobacco control policy on western pacific region of WHO. Conclusions: The cost effectiveness study based on WHO-CHOICE programme could help decide a priority of health promotion policy for settings with limited resources. For the improvement of health, the future work on WHO-CHOICE programme need to be considered.
Objectives: This study provides insights on the impact of a targeted intervention (TI) programme on behaviour change among injecting drug users (IDUs) in India. Methods: This paper examined the data from the Integrated Biological and Behavioural Surveillance 2014-2015 for IDUs in India. Logistic regression was performed to understand the factors (TI programme services) that affected injecting risk behaviours by adjusting for covariates. Propensity score matching was conducted to understand the impact of the TI programme on using new needles/syringes and sharing needles/syringes in the most recent injecting episode by accounting for the covariates that predicted receiving the intervention. Results: Participants who received new needles and syringes from peer educators or outreach workers were 1.3 times (adjusted odds ratio, 1.29; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.09 to 1.53) more likely to use new needles/syringes during most recent injecting episode than participants who did not receive needles/syringes. The matched-samples estimate (i.e., average treatment effect on treated) of using new needles in the most recent injecting episode showed a 2.8% (95% CI, 0.0 to 5.6) increase in the use of new needles and a 6.5% (95% CI, -9.7 to -3.3) decrease in needle sharing in the most recent injecting episode in participants who received new needles/syringes. There was a 2.2% (95% CI, -3.8 to -0.6) decrease in needle sharing in the most recent injecting episode among participants who were referred to other services (integrated counselling and testing centre, detox centres, etc.). Conclusions: The TI programme proved to be effective for behaviour change among IDUs, as substantiated by the use of new needles/syringes and sharing of needles/syringes.

Pharmacy education and training is continuously evolving to meet the requirement from the society in the UK. Most pharmacy schools offer the Master of pharmacy degree which is a four year undergraduate programme followed by a year of pre-registration placement spanning a year supervised by a professional pharmacist who has at least 3 years' post-registration experience; however, some universities provide either a 5-year sandwich course where the pre-registration training is split up into two periods of 6 months or a 2-year OSPAP programme for those who are already qualified as a pharmacist outside of the UK. The GPhC has announced that the format of the registration assessment is set to change in 2016. The exam questions from 2016 will be more clinical, practical and based around a patient in a real-life scenario. This article addresses important aspects of UK pharmacy education such as university curriculum, training programme, and licence exam, therefore, could potentially offer a significant contribution to the debate about raising academic standards of pharmacy education in South Korea.
The purpose of this study is to analyze students' learning characteristics regarding spatial ability, orienteering ability and earth science content learning ability and their relationship through development and application of earth science activities using orienteering. The programme aims to improve students' spatial ability using orienteering activity which requires spatial ability. Topics in the programme included map, compass, contour, movement of celestial, and constellation application. Students were to orienteer in the field using the method they learned in class. This programme was applied to five 7th graders. The results are, first, students who have positive attitude toward science and do well at school tended to perceive their orienteering ability high. Second, all parts of spatial ability, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, spatial relation were used during orienteering, especially spatial visualization and spatial orientation. The relationship between spatial ability, orienteering ability, and earth science content learning abilities was not clear. However, orienteering ability and earth science content learning ability were in similar tendency.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of the integrated dementia managing programme for the elderly with mild dementia in which the physiological, cognitive, emotional, sociological and spiritual aspects have considered. Methods: This study employed non-equivalent control group pre-post tests with the repeated measure design. The subjects of the study were 39 elderly with mild dementia (20 in the experimental group and 19 in the control group) who have admitted to two nursing homes in B city. The data were analyzed by repeated measures ANOVA. Results: There were significant interactions between two groups and times in self-efficacy (p=.011), cognitive function (p<.001), depression (p=.005), spiritual well-being (p=.002), and quality of life (p=.037). The integrated dementia managing programme of this study showed significant positive effects on the quality of life for the elderly with mild dementia. Conclusion: On considering the current trends of aging and increasing number of the elderly with dementia, this integrated programme would be highly recommended to be used in nursing homes for the elderly with mild dementia, and contribute to improving their quality of life, and saving the social and medical expenses as well.
The aims of the study is to analyse the participation satisfaction and the intension continuing participation through volunteering of the elderly who take part in the employment promotion programme for the elderly. The major findings can be summarised as follows; first, although the level of satisfaction of the public sector programme participants seems relatively high, the satisfaction level on the payments is not. Secondly, there was differences in the level of volunteering intension according to different kinds of the programmes. Thirdly, higher socio-economic status, the sorts of the programme, and the level of satisfaction affects the odds of the participation intention of the elderly. Based on these findings, the study suggests various directions of the employment promotion programme for the elderly such as need assessment for the elderly, the increase of the payment, promoting the quality of employment, and the administrative system for supporting elderly volunteering.
Objectives : The former study of Oriental Medicine on cancer has been mostly focused on lab studies with herbal medicine. Among this atmosphere, the aim of this study is to investigate the suitability of Oriental Medicine institutions to participate in cancer registry programme in R.O.K by investigating the type of treatments used for cancer patients in Oriental Medicine institutes. Methods : To investigate the actual conditions of cancer patients who visited Oriental Medicine institutes, a survey was done based on clinical charts of 258 patients of cancer. Results : The order for the percentage of the original tumor organ of the patients, the number of patients who recognized the outbreak on the year of the first visit was the biggest, and the number gradually decreased while the years passed. For the type of treatment, herbal medicine was the most for 92.6%, acupuncture 52.6%, moxibustion 16.7%, cupping 14.7%. It can be seen that multiple treatment was preferred to single treatment. Among the periods for herbal medication, 10 days was the most for 34.1%, 29.8% for within 50 days and 10.5% for within 100 days. The percentage of patients who took treatment of western medicine at the same time and those who took treatment of Oriental medicine only was 47.4% and 43.8% respectively. By surveying categories such as the symptoms, diagnosis of syndrome, principle of treatment from the chart by a free description, there was 841 names of symptoms, 207 diagnoses of syndromes and 206 principles of treatment. But no relation or connection between these could be found statistically. At there were even occasions which the doctor didn't record the cancer itself, precise investigatio for the actual condition of cancer patients in Oriental Medicine institutions appeared to be very difficult. Conclusions : It seems impossible to enroll cancer patients of Oriental Medicine institutions to the cancer registry programme in R.O.K as far as the patients are recorded only under the paradigm of Oriental Medicine. However, if the Oriental Medicine doctors keep a consistency in classifying categories such as cause of death, syndrome diagnosis, principle of treatment and prescriptions, and limit the choices, for each category, a pilot study for cancer registry programme in R.O.K. in Oriental Medicine could be carried out.
