동기화된 협동을 지원하기 위한 능동형 웹 서버 설계 (A Design of the Active Web Server Supporting Synchronous Collaboration in the Web-Based Groupware Systems)

  • The web-based groupware systems hold many possibilities for system developers and users. Especially, web-based group collaborative systems are emerging as enterprise-wide information systems. Since data in group collaborative systems are apt to be shared among multiple concurrent users and modified simutaneously by them, the web-based group collaborative systems must support synchronous collaboration in order to provide users with synchronized and consistent views of shared data. However, current web technologies have limitations in supporting this, largely because the existing Hypertext Transfer Protocol(HTTP) is unidirectional and does not allow web servers to send messages to their web browsers without first receiving requests from them. This paper proposes an active web server that can overcome such limitations and facilitate synchronous collaboration in web-based group collaborative systems. To accomplish such goals, the active web server manages dependency relationships beween shared data and web browsers referencing them and actively propagates changing details of the shared data to all web browsers referencing them. And, this paper examines usefulness and effectiveness of the active web server to apply it to the ball-bearing design example of concurrent engineering design systems. The prototype system of the active web server is developed on a commercial Object-oriented Database Management System(0DBMS) called OBJECTSTERE using the C++ programming language.

  • 본 논문에서는 Active-Active 방식의 웹서버 이중화 방법에 관해 연구하였다. Rsync과 crontab을 이용하여 웹서버간에 주기적인 복사가 이루어지도록 하여 동일한 상태를 유지시켰다. 로드밸런싱서버가 웹서버를 교대로 실행하여 부하를 분산하고, 빠른 서비스가 제공되도록 하였다. 또한 임의의 웹서버에 장애가 발생하더라도 또 다른 웹서버에 의해 서비스가 계속 유지되도록 하였다.

  • Power plant simulators have been used for operator training, control verification and engineering verification. In general, simulators can be used in the place where they are installed by only single user group at a time. Considering high cost of simulator development, a lot of available scenarios, the diversity of user level and accessibility based on users' work location, development of simulator system that can be used by multiple user groups regardless of location is required in order to enhance utilization of simulators. In this paper, the simulator system that can be used by multiple user group simultaneously without location limitation is proposed. The simulator system is composed of simulator servers, database servers, HMI servers, a web server, web clients. Simulator server consists of control model, process model that are developed for Circulating Fluidized Bed power plant located overseas. A web server manages user accounts, operation procedures, multiple server access between web client group and simulator server group. In other words, a web server makes a user group select a simulator server at a time. The developed simulator system is integrated after implementing process model, control model, HMI, and web server. Web client systems are installed on local site where power plant is located, while simulator servers, HMI servers, database servers, and a web server are located in KEPCO RI. The developed simulator system is verified by steady-state test, malfunction test and so on via remote access.

  • This paper introduces the concept of web-based simulation and suggests the structure of web-based simulation which reduces the simulation run time and performs simulations in efficient way under distributed environments. Since its introducing in 1996, web-based simulation has been studied only with a tool of applet, but in this paper a method of server applications for client applets will be used. In server application, server transfers objects requested by clients such as simulation engines, reports, files. After each client connects to web-server, and then server allocates simulation modules to connected clients. These work magnify the transferring applets from server and simulation models which were made by clients. This paper also processes a structure for managing efficiently web-based simulation under distributed environment and steps in which clients connect, model, simulate with distributed structure, and programs of proposed structure.

  • In this study, the Web Camera System is implementation and simulated on two different architectures. In the one architecture, a Web-server and Camera-server are implemented on the same system, and the system transfers motion picture which compressed to JPEG file to users on the WWW(World Wide Web). In the other architecture, the Web-server and Camera-server are implemented on different systems, and the motion picture is transferred from the Camera-server to Web-server, and finally to users. In order to compare system performance between two architecture, data traffic is measured and simulated in the unit of byte per second and frame per second.

  • In this paper, "The PLC Controlling on Web Browser" is designed and implemented to remote control and to monitor FA system. Protocol bidirectional communication with PLC is written and sotted. Then Administration system sets Web server and JAVA Sevelet Program. The client system located at the monitoring Web browser are a JAVA Sevelet base system, and sends some commands to the server system which guards and controls the PLC system. The commands are delivered to the server system and the driver software exists in the server controls the PLC system directly.

  • 기존의 웹 서버는 과부하 상태인 경우 폐쇄 연결, 암호 핸드쉐이크 실행 증가와 서버 용량의 현저한 감소로 서버의 처리량에 문제가 발생하여 시스템의 전체적인 성능을 저하시킨다. 또한 쓰레드 블록으로 인하여 다수의 클라이언트 요청 처리가 원활하지 못하고, 쓰레드 활성화를 위하여 많은 시간과 자원을 요구하여, 클라이언트의 요청에 대해 접속시간과 응답 시간이 증가하는 단점이 발생한다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 웹서버스의 장점인 통합과 커뮤니케이션 지원과 시스템 성능 향상을 위해 서버 과부하를 개선하고, 지연처리를 위해 필요한 기술을 제공하는 확장된 웹서버를 제안한다. 그리고 기존 시스템(Tomcat 5.5에서 구현)과 제안한 모바일 웹 서버 아키텍처를 평가한다. 확장된 서버 아키텍처는 시스템 성능을 위해 우수한 교환 조건을 제공하고, 다중쓰레드와 쓰레드풀을 결합한 개선된 웹 서버 아키텍처를 평가한다. 본 논문에서 제안된 웹서비스 아키텍처는 오리지널 Tomcat 5.5의 평가 결과보다 개선된 성능 이익의 결과를 얻었다.

IntoPub: A Directory Server for Bioinformatics Tools and Databases

  • Bioinformatics tools and databases are useful for understanding and processing various biological data. Numerous resources are being published each year. It is not a trivial task to find up-to-date relevant tools and databases. Moreover, no server is available to provide comprehensive coverage on bioinformatics resources in all biological fields. Here, we present a directory server called IntoPub that provides information on web resources. First, we downloaded XML-formatted abstracts containing web URLs from the NCBI PubMed database by using 'ESearch-EFetch' function in the NCBI E-utilities. The information is obtained from abstracts in the PubMed by extracting 'www' or 'http' prefixes. Then, we cu-rate the downloaded abstracts both in automatic and manual fashion. As of July 2011, the IntoPub database has 12,118 abstracts containing web URLs from 174 journals. Our anal-ysis shows that the number of abstracts containing web resources has increased signifi-cantly every year. The server has been tested by many biologists from several countries to get opinion on user satisfaction, usefulness, practicability, and ease of use since January 2010. In the IntoPub web server, users can easily find relevant bioinformatics resources, as compared to searching in PubMed. IntoPub will continue to update and incorporate new web resources from PubMed and other literature databases. IntoPub, available at http://into.kobic.re.kr/, is updated every day.

RTO 조정을 통한 이더넷(Ethernet)내의 웹 서버의 성능향상 (Improving the Performance of Web Server in Ethernet by Controlling the RTO)

  • 본 논문에서는 웹 서버의 부하 분산을 위해 네트워크를 LAN 내부와 LAN 외부로 나누고 이들에 각각의 웹 서버를 할당한다. LAN 내부의 노드들에 의한 접속만이 가능한 웹 서버의 성능은 RTO(Retransmission Time Out : 재전송타임아웃)라는 TCP 파라미터에 의해 많은 영향을 받는다. 웹 서버의 운영체제 내에 디폴트로 설정된 RTO 값은 LAN에서는 지나치게 큰 값으로 네트워크와 웹 서버의 성능을 저하시킨다. 이에 본 논문에서는 기존의 재전송 타임아웃의 알고리즘 방식을 이용하지 않고, 조정된 RTO값을 사용하여 LAN 내부의 웹 서버 성능을 향상시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • 현재 인터넷은 HTTP 프로토콜을 중심으로 구성되어 있다. 전자상거래, 전자정부, 인터넷 멀티미디어, 흠 네트워킹 등 현재 인터넷으로 가능한 서비스는 점점 증가하고 있지만, 비교적 단순한 메시지의 전송에 기반 해 설계된 HTTP가 현재의 이러한 복잡한 서비스와는 적합하지 않는 경우도 있다. 즉, 점점 더 다양해지는 서비스로 인해, 서버 쪽에서는 클라이언트당 점점 더 많은 양의 데이터를 전송하게 되는 것이다. 이러한 웹 서버 측의 메시지 전송 부담과 전송 시간, 대역폭의 절감을 위해서, HTTP 프로토콜의 압축전송헤더를 이용한 실시간 압축 전송 아키텍쳐를 개발하였다. 이를 이용하여, 정적 페이지를 실시간으로 압축/전송함으로써, 웹 서버 측의 대역폭을 절감하였고, 전송속도를 증가시켰다. 또한, 상대적으로 CPU 집중적인 압축연산을 커널 영역에서 수행하여, 압축연산으로 인한 서버 측의 CPU 자원사용을 최소화하였다.
