This study was carried out to investigate release characteristics of phosphorus with DO, pH and temperature, to suppose its behaviour with time using mathematical model, and to under-stand its forms with pH. Released SRP was in inversely proportional to DO and it did few release in initial aerobic conditions, but it did actively with decreasing DO concentration. Also, its release was increased with increasing pH and temperature. It was found that relation between time and released SRP concentration was zero order reaction. As compared with k values in various pH and temp., they was $k_{15}>k_{25}$ in pH 6 but was $k_{15} in pH 7 and 8. Considering forms of phosphorus with pH, Resdi.-P & NAI-P increased but Ads.-P & Apt.-P decreased with increasing pH.

Phosphorus (P) removal by aluminum sulfate solution was investigated with varying pH and initial P concentrations. P removal was the highest at around pH 6. The pH range where P removal occurred was slightly wider at higher initial P concentrations. Compared to theoretical calculations, it was confirmed that $AlPO_4$ precipitation was the main reason for P removal at low pH. At high pH, where there should be no $AlPO_4$ precipitates, the P removal by adsorption of amorphous $Al(OH)_3$ precipitates was experimentally observed. The P removal by adding amorphous $Al(OH)_3$ precipitates prepared before the adsorption experiments, however, was lower than that by injecting aluminum sulfate solution because the prepared precipitates became larger, leading to less specific surface area available for adsorption. Ions other than sulfate had little influence on P removal.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the quality of life of clients who treated and equipped prosthesis in Eulji University Hospital in Dae-Jun City. The results of this study were as follows. The oral status of Female had more carious tooth than male had. Carious tooth(p<0.05) and losed tooth(p<0.001) was more popular in older female. The frequency of treated tooth was higher under 59 years old female than over 60 years old(p<0.01). In education category, carious tooth(p<0.05) and losed tooth(p<0.000) was more popular in low education than high education In the score of relation of OHIP-14 category and general characteristic, female was significantly higher than male in dysfunction( p<0.05), physical disorder(p<0.001) and activity disorder(p<0.05). The score was significantly higher in older than younger in dysfunction(p<0.05), physical disorder(p<0.001) and activity disorder(p<0.001). The score of education was significantly higher in low education group than high education group in physical pain (p<0.001), mental discomfort (p<0.001). The score of marriage status was significantly higher in marriaged group than other group in dysfunction (p<0.05) and mental discomfort (p<0.05). In the score of relation of OHIP-14 category and oral status, the score of carious tooth group was significantly higher in dysfunction(p<0.05), physical disorder(p<0.05) and activity disorder(p<0.05). The score of losed tooth group was significantly higher in dysfunction(p<0.05), physical pain (p<0.05), mental discomfort(p<0.05), physical disorder(p<0.05) and activity disorder(p<0.01). The score of non treated tooth group was significantly higher in dysfunction(p<0.05), mental discomfort(p<0.05), social disorder(p<0.05) and activity disorder(p<0.05). In the score of relation of OHIP-14 category and the sort of prosthesis, the score of being bridge group was significantly higher than being crown group in activity disorder(p<0.05). The OHIP-14 category and the number of prosthesis was not significant relationship. These results suggest that the information and services of the process of dental prosthesis based on subjective evaluation should be provided to clients rather than based on clinical evaluation. The continued system of oral management should be developed and provided.
The mutation of p53 is the most common genetic alteration found in human cancers and has oncogenic properties. mdm-2 is a recently discoverd that controls the p53 activity by binding of its protein, so negative feedback loop has been suggested in which p53 induces mdm-2 expression. The purpose of this study was to analyze the expression of p53 in leukoplakias, mdm-2 in squamous cell carcinomas, and relationship between p53 and mdm-2 expression in leukoplakias and squamous cell carcinomas. The results were as follows : 1) The p53 was expressed 33.4% in leukoplakias 2) The mdm-2 was expressed 8.3% in leukoplakias and 22.7% in squamous cell carcinomas. 3) The expression rate of p53 was higher in specimens negative for mdm-2 than in specimens positive for mdm-2, but there was not significant relationship between p53 and mdm-2 expression. In conclusion p53 was thought to participate in early phase of oncogenesis, and mdm-2 was thought to have a role as a oncogene in squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck. Though there was not significant relationship between p53 and mdm-2 expression, mdm-2 was thought to inhibit p53 activity.
The solubility of protein and phytate was measured at various pH's in distilled water and at various concentrations of NaCl, $CaCl_2\;and\;Na_2SO_3$ solutions, and then optimum condition for producing low phytate protein isolate from perilla flour was investigated. The protein solubility in water showed minimum at pH 4.0 and increased at pH higher or lower than 4.0, while phytate solubility was highest at pH 5.0 and decreased at pH higher or lower than 5.0. In NaCl solution, protein solubility was lowest between pH 3.0-4.0, while phytate solubility was high between pH 2.0-5.0 and abruptly decreased above PH 6.0. In $Na_2SO_3$ solution, protein solubility was lowest between pH 2.0-3.0 and phytate solubility showed maximum values between pH $5.0{\sim}6.0$, and it's solubility was low in 3% salt concentration at all pH ranges. In $CaCl_2$ solution, protein solubility in 3% salt concentration was relatively low at all pH ranges, and phytate solubility showed highest values between pH $2.0{\sim}3.0$ and abruptly decreased (1.0%) above pH 4.0. In order to make low phytate protein isolate, defatted perilla flour protein was extracted at pH9.0 and precipitated at pH 4.0 in 3% NaCl solution. The yield of low phytate protein isolate was 61.4% of total protein. This protein was found to contain 0.02% phytate by weight.

Change in Quality properties of the Kochujang Prepared with the powder of Paecilomyces japonica and extract of p. japonica by different solvents were investigated during 90 days of fermentation at 20$^{\circ}C$. The moisture content was not significantly different, pH of Kochuiang made with p. japonica was lower than control group and decreased continuously according to the fermentation time. Amino nitrogen continuously increased till 60 days and decreased slightly on 90 days. Amino nitrogen of Kochujang made with P. japonica was higher than control group and was highest on 30 days and 60 days by 179.2mg% and 282.2mg% respectively. Value of L, a, b in Color decreased with proportion to fermentation period and L, a, b value of Kochujang made with P. japonica was lower and in particular that of Kochujang made with P. japonica powder was lowest. from the result of sensory evaluation test, the color of control group was similar to“clear red”but that of Kochojang made with powder of P. japonica was close to“dark reddish brown”and that of Kochujang made with extract of P. japonica was darker than that of control group and the preference of dark color was low. Texture was“glossy and smooth”in all and preference was high. In salty taste, the Kochujang by P. japonica addition was stronger and Kochujang made with extract was stronger than that made with powder. In hot taste, the Kochujang made with P. japonica was weaker than control group and the Kochujang made with P. japonica was scored higher in flavor than control group and Kochujang made with powder of P. japonica was the highest in score. In overall preference, the Kochujang made with P. japonica was better than control group like the result of flavor but expecially Kochujang made with water extract of P. japonica among the extract was best one unlike the result of flavor.
This study was conducted to assess the predictive value of p-glycoprotein (p-gp) and p53 immunoexpression in human papillomavirus (HPV) infected cases of cervical dysplasia. Expression of both p-gp and p53 proteins was detected in cervical smears from 177 squamous intraepithelial lesions (SIL) cases along with 183 "atypical squamous cells of unknown significance" (ASCUS) and 150 normal cases. HPV 16 and 18 infection was detected by polymerase chain reaction using type-specific primers for HPV sub-types. There were no significant detectable p53 and p-gp expression in the normal cervix smears (p>0.05). In the ASCUS group 10 cases were positive for both p53 and p-gp immunoreactivity. In cervical dysplasia cases, p53 was positive in 86 (48.58%) while p-gp was positive in 93 (52.54%) and the two markers showed a highly significant correlation (r=0.92, p<0.001). Expression of p53 and p-gp was associated with grade of SIL (p<0.001). A positive correlation between the presence of HPV and expression of proteins p53 and p-gp in smears of patients with cervical lesions was also noted (p<0.001). Thus, p53 and p-gp immunostaining in cervical smears may act as an auxiliary biomarker for detection of HPV-associated cervical lesions. Additionally, a significant positive correlation between ascending grades of SIL and labeling indices of markers suggests that p53 and p-gp can be used as an adjunct to cytomorphological interpretation of conventional cervical Pap smears.
This research was carried out to elucidate the impacts of dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration to phosphorus release mechanism from soil into water in lakes. $PO_4-P$ contributed to the growth of the total phosphorus (T-P). $PO_4-P$ was steadily increasing because water was accumulating $PO_4-P$. T-P was closely related to turbidity, pH, and DO. We found that DO had decreased because DO was consumed in organic matter decomposition, and that the resulting anaerobic decomposition occurred whenever water had run out of DO. We also found that pH had decreased sharply by production of organic acid by the anaerobic decomposition and that T-P decreased because a decrease in pH removed turbidity by precipitation. T-P was dissolved without microbial decomposition. This mechanism was of great importance in lakes because phosphorus is released from soil into water.
The purpose of this study was to determine pH value of some alcoholic drinks sold in Korea and to provide the basic information which can cause dental erosion. Alcoholic drinks commercially sold were purchased from various big markets in Korea. The sorts of drinks tested in this study consisted of 5 brands of beers, 24 brands of makgeollis, 9 brands of wines and 12 brands of sojus. The test groups were selected randomly and the pH of each beverage was determined using a pH meter he each pH was measured. For statistical data, Mann-Whitney test was used to analyze difference for red wine and white wine and Kruskal-Wallis test was used to compare the pH of each test group. The result of this study was as followings: the mean pH of 5 brands of beers was 4.21, that of 24 brands of makgeollis 3.88, of 9 brands of wines 3.34 and of 12 brans of sojus 7.86. Each test group was significantly different (p<0.05). Except for soju groups, the test groups had a low pH value which can cause dental erosion. In terms of comparing between pH value of red wine and white wine, the result of this study represented that the mean pH of red wine was 3.45 and that of white wine was 3.21. This result showed the pH of two kinds of wine had a low pH which can lead to dental erosion and the difference of two wine were significantly different (p<0.05). As a result, some drinks sold in Korea have a high erosive potential on teeth since they have a comparatively low pH expect soju. Hence, when we consume some kinds of alcoholic drinks, we make sure to remember that the alcoholics which had a low pH, can have an effect on dental erosion that mean we should avoid to drink some alcoholic drinks with low pH for long time.
Various sequences of pH change were applied in a batch bioreactor to investigate pH shock effects on geldanamycin production by Streptomyces hygroscopicus subsp. duamyceticus JCM4427. In the control culture where the pH was not controlled, the maximum geldanamycin concentration was 414 mg/l. With the pHS1 mode of pH shock, that is, an abrupt pH change from pH 6.5 to pH 5.0 and then being maintained at around pH 5.0 afterward, 768 mg/l of geldanamycin was produced. With pHS2, in which the pH was changed sequentially from pH 6.7 to pH 5.0 and then back to pH 6.0, 429 mg/l of geldanamycin was produced. With pHS3 having a sequential pH change from pH 6.0 to pH 4.0 and then back to pH 6.5 followed by the third pH shock to pH 5.5, no geldanamycin production was observed. Considering that the productivity with pHS1 was about two-fold of that of the control culture with no pH control, we concluded that a more sophisticated manipulation of pH would further promote geldanamycin production.
