  • In this paper, we present a 3D reconstruction method of color volume data or a computerized human atlas. Binary volume rendering which takes the advantages of shear-warp factorization and new normal vector calculation method visualizes 3D organs in real time. Various manipulations such as rotation, multiple object rendering, removal, and transparency effect improve the usefulness and comprehensiveness of the computerized atlas.

  • A noise transfer function(NTF) is the frequency response function between an input force applied to an exterior point of a vehicle body and the resultant interior sound pressure usually measured at the driver's ear position. It represents the measure of noise sensitivity for the output force transmitted to the joints between the body and chassis. The principle of vibro-acoustic reciprocity is often utilized in the measurement of NTF. One difficulty in using the volume source is that most of the previously proposed methods require the knowledge of the volume velocity of the acoustic source in advance. A new method proposed in the present work does not require any calculation related with the volume velocity of the acoustic source, but still yields even more accurate results both in the amplitude and phase of the NTF. In the present work, the new method is applied to obtain NTF data for a midsize sedan.

  • Background Flap volume is an important factor for obtaining satisfactory symmetry in breast reconstruction with a transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous (TRAM) free flap. We aimed to develop an easy and simple method to estimate flap volume. Methods We performed a preoperative estimation of the TRAM flap volume in five patients with breast cancer who underwent 2-stage breast reconstruction following an immediate tissue expander operation after a simple mastectomy. We measured the height and width of each flap zone using a ruler and measured the tissue thickness by ultrasound. The volume of each zone, approximated as a triangular or square prism, was then calculated. The zone volumes were summed to obtain the total calculated volume of the TRAM flap. We then determined the width of zone II, so that the calculated flap volume was equal to the required flap volume ($1.2{\times}1.05{\times}$the weight of the resected mastectomy tissue). The TRAM flap was transferred vertically so that zone III was located on the upper side, and zone II was trimmed in the sitting position after vascular anastomosis. We compared the estimated flap width of zone II (=X) with the actual flap width of zone II. Results X was similar to the actual measured width. Accurate volume replacement with the TRAM flap resulted in good symmetry in all cases. Conclusions The volume of a free TRAM flap can be straightforwardly estimated preoperatively using the method presented here, with ultrasound, ruler, and simple calculations, and this technique may help reduced the time required for precise flap tailoring.

Hermite와 Spline 함수를 이용한 매립토공량 계산 (On the Reclamation Earthwork Calculation using the Hermite and Spline Function)

  • 토공량 결정은 토질역학, 고속도로적용, 운송공학, 많은 측량에 자주 요구된다. 토공량 계산은 해안매립공사 같은 대규모의 토목설계나 계획에 큰 비중을 차지하므로 토공작업의 정확도를 향상시키는 것이 매우 중요하다. 이 연구에서는 3가지의 제안식(A, B, C)과 점고법 그리고 Chen 과 Lin법을 예제를 통하여 비교하였다. 그리고 주어진 3차원 자료를 스플라인 보간법을 이용하여 지형곡면을 양방향으로 보간하거나 자유경계조건에 의한 방법의 알고리즘을 제시하였다. 재래식방법의 수학적 방범은 절점에서 첨단점을 곡선화하는 일반적인 결점을 내포하고 있다. 이러한 결점을 피하기 위하여 새로운 방범의 수학적 모델로서 3차 스플라인 보간법을 적용하였다. 3차 스플라인 보간의 특성상 새로운 방법의 모형곡선은 지형단면과 부드럽게 잘 맞아떨어졌다. 이 연구의 결과 제안된 3가지의 방법의 알고리즘이 점고법, Chen과 Lin보다 더 정확한 결과를 나타내었다. 그리고 언급된 수학식에 의한 모형은 토공량 결정에 있어 최대의 정확도를 제시하는 것으로 판단된다.

피스톤 링 팩 및 실린더 보아 마모와 오일소모를 고려한 엔진 내구수명 연구 (A Study on Engine Durability Considering Oil Consumption and Wear of Piston-Ring Pack and Cylinder Bore)

  • Ring, groove and cylinder bore wear may not be a problem in most current automotive engines. However, a small change in ring face, groove geometry and cylinder bore diameter can significantly affect the lubrication characteristics and ring axial motion. This in turn can cause to change inter-ring pressure, blowby and oil consumption in an engine. Therefore, by predicting the wear of piston ring face, ring groove and cylinder bore altogether, the changed ring end gap and the changed volume of gas reservoir can be calculated. Then the excessive oil consumption can be predicted. Being based on the calculation of gas flow amount by the theory of piston ring dynamics and gas flow, and the calculation of oil film thickness and friction force by the analysis of piston ring lubrication, the calculation theory of oil amount through top ring gap into combustion chamber will be set. This is estimated as engine oil consumption. Furthermore, the wear theories of ring, groove and cylinder bore are included. Then the each amount of wear is to be obtained. The changed oil consumption caused by the new end gap and the new volume of oil reservoir around second land, can be calculated at some engine running interval. Meanwhile, the wear amount and oil consumption occurred during engine durability cycle are compared with the calculated values. Next, the calculated amount of oil consumption and wear are compared with the guideline of each part's wear and oil consumption. So, the timing of part repair and engine life cycle can be predicted in advance without performing engine durability test. The wear data of rings, grooves and cylinder bore are obtained from three engines before and after engine durability test. The calculated wear data of each part are turn out to be around the band of averaged test values or a little below.

  • 본 보고는 버섯재배 농장에서 사용하는 배지 재료 및 혼합배지의 수분함량; 입병한 배지의 배지량, 건조무게, 액체량, 가비중; 배지혼합기에 투입하는 배지재료의 건조량, 수분량, 재료별 혼합비율; 배지의 수분함량 조절을 위한 물 소요량과 보충량, 조제한 배지의 총량을 산출하는 계산식을 만들었다. 그리고 각각을 자동으로 계산하는 엑셀파일을 작성하였다. 이 계산식들과 엑셀파일은 병재배 농가에서 배지재료비 절감, 연중 병당 양분함량 및 수분함량 유지와 새로운 배지조성을 만들기 위하여 활용할 수 있을 것이다. 이때 매일 계속되는 재배과정에서 수량 기복이나 품질 저하를 최소화 하면서 연중 안정생산에 기여할 것으로 기대한다.

복합재질로 구성된 건축 구조체의 열전달 수치해석을 위한 ISI10211모델계산 (Numerical analysis of heat transfer for architectural structure composed of multiple materials in ISO10211)

  • Purpose: The architectural structures in the engineering field include more than one material, and the heat transfer through these multiple materials becomes complicated. More or less, the analytic solutions obtained by the hand calculation can provide the limited information of heat transfer phenomena. However, the engineers have generally been forced to obtain reliable results than those of the hand calculation. The numerical calculation such as a finite volume methods with the unstructured grid system is only the suitable means of the analysis for the complex and arbitrary domains that consists of multiple materials. In this study, a new numerical code is developed to provide temperature distributions in the multiple material domains, and the results of this code are compared with the validation cases in ISO10211. Method: Finite volume methods with an unstructured grid is employed. In terms of numerical methods, the heat transfer conduction coefficient is not defined on the surface of the cell between different material cells. The heat transfer coefficient is properly defined to accurately mimic the heat transfer through the surface. The boundary conditions of heat flux considering radiation or heat convection are also developed. Result: The comparison between numerical results and ISO 10211 cases. We are confirmed that the numerical method provides the proper temperature distributions, and the heat transfer equation and its boundary conditions are developed properly.

우수유출 모형을 이용한 합류식하수관로시스템의 월류량, 월류빈도 산정 기준 결정 연구 (Criteria for calculation of CSO volume and frequency using rainfall-runoff model)

  • It is widely known that untreated Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs) that directly discharged from receiving water have a negative impact. Recent concerns on the CSO problem have produced several large scale constructions of treatment facilities, but the facilities are normally designed under empirical design criteria. In this study, several criteria for defining CSOs (e.g. determination of effective rainfall, sampling time, minimum duration of data used for rainfall-runoff simulation and so on) were investigated. Then this study suggested a standard methodology for the CSO calculation and support formalized standard on the design criteria for CSO facilities. Criteria decided for an effective rainfall was over 0.5 mm of total rainfall depth and at least 4 hours should be exist between two different events. An Antecedent dry weather period prior to storm event to satisfy the effective rainfall criteria was over 3 days. Sampling time for the rainfall-runoff model simulation was suggested as 1 hour. A duration of long-term simulation CSO overflow and frequency calculation should be at least recent 10 year data. A Management plan for the CSOs should be established under a phase-in of the plan. That should reflect site-specific conditions of different catchments, and formalized criteria for defining CSOs should be used to examine the management plans.
