  • With the new technology and the popularization of mobile phone. the functions and designs of mobile phone have been varied rapidly. However. based on the user's level of familiarity on mobile phone function and knowledge of information technology. the using behaviors of mobile phone. especially between the young users who are well acquainted with the latest function and technology and the over middle-aged users who are relatively not. would be quite different. A survey was conducted to investigate the various using behaviors of mobile phone in different age groups. The total number of six hundred and sixty-seven people from age seventeen to sixty participated in this study. The participants were divided into young group (age between 17 to 29) and the over middle-aged group (age between 40 to 60) to compare the difference group considered design. price. and function of the mobile phone as three important factors. on the other hand. the over middle-aged group considered quality of communication. price and ease of use as three important factors. All the respondents of the young group know how to use the text messaging function. however for the over middle-aged group. 40% of the respondents knows how to use the text messaging function. The over middle-aged group seemed mainly use the mobile phone for voice communication. however the young group had a tendency to communicate each other with short text message rather than through voice conversation. Twenty percentage of young group responded that they had an experience of pain or discomfort at the thumb. the thenar eminence area. or carpus area during pushing the mobile phone keypad. The excessive frequent use of keypad may cause the risk of repetitive strain injury (RSI). The results of this study could provide important information to understand the way of using mobile phone in different age groups. and also could be used to design and market the mobile phone.

  • The mobile telecommunication system has been growing exponentially after 1990s due to the high population in a city and the growth of mobile user. In this time, the current mobile system mainly concentrates on the voice communication. However, in the next generation, mobile users want to get very diverse services via mobile terminal such as the Internet access, web access, multimedia communication, and etc. For this reason, the next generation system, such as the UMTS system, has to support the packet data service and it will play the major role in the system. In different from the voice service, the packet data service should store packet data in a buffer at base station before it forwards. Consequently, the performance closely related to the buffer management and its operation. However, until now, there are rare study on the buffer behavior and management. In this paper, we will observe the buffer behavior in the UMTS systems by using simulation and analyze the results. For this research, we generate packet data traffics and model the UMTS system for a simulation. Then we analyze the buffer state by a simulation and calculate the buffer overflow probability by mathematical methods.

  • Background and Objectives : Classical singers are capable of masking abnormalities due to their high level of training and may present with apparent technical deficits rather than with obvious dysfunction. Therefore, some variations from expected normal laryngeal behavior may be present in trained classical singers. Consequently it is important for otolaryngologist to obtain a baseline assessment of their laryngeal function. Materials and Methods : Acoustic measurement including strobovideolaryngoscopy from 50 classically trained singers was done for this study, which was compared with the data from 20 untrained adults. Results and Conclusion : This study showed that 50-healthy asymptomatic classical singers revealed an incidence of 50% abnormal strobovideolaryngoscopic findings, but their acoustic data was within normal limit despite the abnormal laryngeal findings. Therefore the author recommends that the classical singers need objective voice analysis and their baseline data should be used for the accurate diagnosis of the cause of voice dysfunction In classical singer whose baseline laryngeal behavior may be unusual.

  • The purpose of this study is to define determinants of VoIP user acceptance and to verify significant causality among latent variables - performance expectancy, effort expectancy, cost expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, behavioral intend, use behavior - based on UTAUT model. We presented the expanded hypotheses including the new factor, cost expectancy and analyzed the moderating effect of user age, gender and usage experience variables. For a accuracy of predicted results, we focused on survey analysis with 641 real user samples. Compared to previous studies, it is meaningful that this research verified the conceptual difference between behavioral intention and usage behavior. As a result, all proposed hypotheses accepted and moderating effects are supported significantly in age and use experience moderating variables.

  • The present study numerically investigates the glottal airflow characteristics as well as acoustic features of phonation fully coupled with dynamic behavior of vocal folds. The vocal folds are described by a low-dimensional body-covered model characterized by bio-mechanical parameters such as glottal width, vocal folds stiffness, and subglottal pressure. The flow in the vocal tract is modeled as an incompressible, axisymmetric form of the Navier-Stokes equations (INS), while the acoustic field is predicted by the linearized perturbed compressible equations (LPCE). The computed result shows that a two-mass model of vocal folds is sufficient to reproduce temporal variations in oral airflow and glottis motion produced by female speakers. It is also found that i) the glottal width has a significant effect on the amplitude of glottal flow, and thus on the amplitude of acoustic wave in the vocal tract, ii) the vocal fold tension is the main control parameter for the fundamental frequency of phonation, iii) the subglottal pressure plays an appreciable role on reproduction of the self-sustained oscillation of vocal folds, and iv) the strength of pulsating airflow and vortical structures are primarily affected by glottal width and subglottal pressure, and are closely related to pitch, loudness, and voice quality. Finally, more comprehensive explanation about the difference between one- and two-mass models is presented with discussion of effectiveness of vocal folds oscillation and voice quality.

  • With various structured data, such as the company size, loan balance, and savings accounts, the voice of customer (VOC), which is text data containing contact history and counseling details was analyzed in this study. To analyze unstructured data, the term frequency-inverse document frequency (TF-IDF) analysis, semantic network analysis, sentiment analysis, and a convolutional neural network (CNN) were implemented. A performance comparison of the models revealed that the predictive model using the CNN provided the best performance with regard to predictive power, followed by the model using the TF-IDF, and then the model using semantic network analysis. In particular, a character-level CNN and a word-level CNN were developed separately, and the character-level CNN exhibited better performance, according to an analysis for the Korean language. Moreover, a systematic selection model for optimal text mining techniques was proposed, suggesting which analytical technique is appropriate for analyzing text data depending on the context. This study also provides evidence that the results of previous studies, indicating that individual customers leave when their loyalty and switching cost are low, are also applicable to corporate customers and suggests that VOC data indicating customers' needs are very effective for predicting their behavior.

  • This study analyzed users' emotional responses to VI character design through YouTube comments. The researchers applied text-mining to analyze 116,375 comments, focusing on terms related to character design and characteristics of VI. Using the BERT model in sentiment analysis, we classified comments into extremely negative, negative, neutral, positive, or extremely positive sentiments. Next, we conducted a co-occurrence frequency analysis on comments with extremely negative and extremely positive responses to examine the semantic relationships between character design and emotional characteristic terms. We also performed a content analysis of comments about Miquela and Shudu to analyze the perception differences regarding the two character designs. The results indicate that form elements (e.g., voice, face, and skin) and behavioral elements (e.g., speaking, interviewing, and reacting) are vital in eliciting users' emotional responses. Notably, in the negative responses, users focused on the humanization aspect of voice and the authenticity aspect of behavior in speaking, interviewing, and reacting. Furthermore, we found differences in the character design elements and characteristics that users expect based on the VI's field of activity. As a result, this study suggests applications to character design to accommodate these variations.

  • Usage of ATM AAL2 packets becomes dominant to increase transmission efficiency of voice traffic in the backbone network. In case of voice service that uses AAL2 mechanism, if resources of network are enough, connection of new call is accepted. However, due to packets generated by the new call, transmission delay of packets from old calls can increase sharply. To control this behavior, in this paper we present an AAL2 buffer management scheme that allocates a virtual buffer to each call and after calculating its propagation delay variation(PDV), decides to drop packets coming from each call according to the PDV value. We show that this packet dropping algorithm can effectively prevent abrupt QoS degradation of old calls. To do this, we analyze AAL2 packet composition process to find a critical factor in the process that influences the end-to-end delay behavior and model the process by K-policy M/D/1 queueing system and MIN(K, Tc)-policy M/D/1 queueing system. From the mathematical model, we derive the probability generating function of AAL2 packets in the buffer and mean waiting time of packets in the AAL2 buffer. Analytical results show that the AAL2 packet dropping algorithm can provide stable AAL2 packetization delay and ATM cell generation time even if the number of voice sources increases dramatically. Finally we compare the analytical result to simulation data obtained by using the COMNET Ⅲ package.

  • Purpose Based on consumers' economic, psychological, self-development and conversion costs, this study discusses the relationship between consumers' negative attitude to their shadow work during the course of using self-service in unmanned supermarkets and their behavior. Design/methodology/approach Along with the Hirschman(1970)'s EVLN(Exit, Voice, Loyalty, and Neglect) reviewed, the proposed model of this study is based on the S-O-R model(Mehrabian and Russel, 1974) and mental accounting theory(Thaler, 1999), having empirical validation. Findings In the process of visits and consumption in unmanned supermarkets, increasing economic and psychological benefits can effectively reduce consumers' negative attitudes towards shadow work. In addition, the increase in switching costs will also effectively reduce consumers' negative attitudes towards shadow work. When shadow work holds a negative attitude, all the three kinds of actions will occur. Unmanned supermarket operators use consumers to create value while giving a certain return to them, which is conducive to the sustainable development of unmanned supermarket enterprises.

  • This study investigated the nature and dimensionality of the motives why employees showed the silence even though they could speak up their opinions. It aimed to develop the scales measuring employee silence. Thus, three studies were designed and particularly, two studies featured two different studies, totaling five studies. Study 1 conducted open-ended survey asking and 104 workers from a variety of work field answered. With the results of open-ended questions, a were developed, consisting of 60-items to measure employee silence motivation. Study 2 examined the scale developed and 481 workers from diverse work fields participated in. The exploratory factor and 'intra-ESEM' analyses were confirmed the construct of silence motivation, composing 5 factors(acquiescent, defensive, disengaged, opportunistic, relational silence) the 20-items was developed to measure the construct(Study 2-1). Furthermore, 'inter-ESEM' analysis was examined the discriminant validity of scale developed by the current study with general silence behavior and voice behavior. It found that the employee silence was distinguished from general silence behavior and voice behavior(Study 2-2). Study 3 was designed for validation of silence motivation scale which developed from Study 1 and Study 2. Based on these results, the implications and limitations of this study as well as the direction for future study were discussed.
