  • This thesis describes the development of a service system for small-sized shops which support not only music broadcasting, but editing and generating voice announcement using the TTS(Text-To-Speech) technology. The system has been developed based on web environments with an easy access whenever and wherever it is needed. The system is able to control the sound using silverlight media player based on the ASP .NET 2.0 technology without any additional application software. Use of the Ajax control allows for multiple users to get the maximum load when needed. TTS is built in the server side so that the service can be provided without user's computer. Due to convenience and usefulness of the system, the business sector can provide better service to many shops. Further additional functions such as statistical analysis will undoubtedly help shop management provide desirable services.

  • This paper proposes a novel computer human interface, named Virtual Wireless Microphone (VWM), which utilizes computer vision and signal processing. It integrates real-time face tracking and sound signal processing. VWM is intended to be used as a speech signal input method for human computer interaction, especially for autonomous intelligent agent that interacts with humans like as digital secretary. Utilizing VWM, the agent can clearly listen human master's voice remotely as if a wireless microphone was put just in front of the master.

  • In this paper, computational analysis and experiments of subwoofer for car audio speaker system were performed and discussed to analyze acoustical phenomena for subwoofer. Ported enclosure system with subwoofer were manufactured and provided for test and simulation purposes. Subwoofer with single voice coil and double voice coil were identified by linear and nonlinear parameter identification method for loudspeaker parameters. For high power inputs to subwoofer, sound pressure levels were compared according to input powers with linear and nonlinear loudspeaker models. For subwoofer system with high power nonlinear speaker model was showed to be adequate to describe the behaviour of loudspeaker.

  • This study is aimed at enhancing mobility rights for the transportation underprivileged that has been made light of relatively compared to normal people. In order to do this, we've suggested having ITS (Intelligent Traffic System) built and improving satisfaction through the test operation of its main system. The existing sound signal device for the visually handicapped has one problem with managing it. Because, the people in charge of it had to visit each problematic site directly to maintain and fix some problems every time it was out of order. Moreover, it couldn't provide sustainable services about voice guidance and the visually handicapped had to control it by either confirming the location of buttons that were installed on the pillar of traffic light and then pressing one of them or using a remote controller on their own. In order to improve such inconveniences, we have created a new typed sound signal device for the visually handicapped by applying the cutting-edge wireless technology based on ergonomics considering actual road situations. Such technology enables it report the status of signal device and light to them by using its voice guidance system automatically every time they have access to it. Additionally, we've already introduced it to a couple of test areas and then known the fact that they recognized traffic situation more conveniently and safely compared to the existing sound signal device. That is above average in terms of satisfaction. In addition to that, we've provided LTS (Location Tracking System - Location-based service intended for elementary students) by utilizing the existing wireless infrastructure and founded the fact that about 87% of their parents were satisfied with the service based on LTS.

  • Motor aphasia is an affection frequently caused by insult of the left middle cerebral artery and usually accompanied by a large lesion involving the Broca's area and the adjacent motor and premotor areas. Therefore, a patient with motor aphasia commonly shows articulatory disturbances due to failure of the motor programing of speech sound. Objective assessment and treatment of phonologic programing is one of the important aspects of speech therapy in aphasic patients. We analyzed the speech disorders acompanied with motor aphasia in a 45-year-old man using a computerized sound spectrograph, Visi-Pitch®, and Multi-Dimensional Voice Program®. We concluded that a computerized speech analysis system is a useful tool to visualize and quantitatively analyse the severity and progression of dysarthria, and the effect of speech therapy.

  • Audio power amplifiers have been designed based on the premise that the impedance of loudspeakers is fixed at nominal 4 ohms or 8 ohms. However, it is known that the impedance varies with frequency and takes on the nominal value at some limited frequencies. The principle of the loudspeaker operation reveals that the sound pressure produced by the loudspeaker is proportional to the current flowing in the voice coil, not the voltage between the two terminals. We take the characteristics of the loudspeaker into account and compare the frequency responses of the loudspeaker in voltage-drive mode and current-drive mode via computer simulations, to conclude that the audio amplifier drive mode should be re-considered in an effort to improve the sound quality.

  • This analog communication system overcomes a limit of the digital communication that used an electric power line, and shows a strong characteristic by decrease of impedance along a load or surge-voltage and the same noise. this system is to detect an sound signal added to light through an photo-sensor and a filter circuit. And a signal detected in this way is transmitted to sound through a speaker of an earphone again.

  • Sound pressure level, subglottic air pressure, vital capacity, adduction/abduction rate, and phonatory efficiency were measured in 19 opera singers, 17 Korean traditional 'Pansori' singers, and 20 non-singers; subjects' mean age was 25.9(SD=7.2) and the singers had been singing professionally for 5-10 years. One-way ANOVA and Scheff\we post-hoc analysis were used to analyze aerodynamic data and to identify significant differences among groups. Sound pressure level, peak subglottic air pressure, and phonatory efficiency were found to be significantly different among three groups of the subjects. Differences in aerodynamic properties were discussed for their significance in diagnosis and treatment of voice disorders in professional singers.

  • The human speech sounds are use to diagnosis in oriental medicine with ‘0-sung’theory. In general, human voice are sound waves which generated by phonation. Two major parts of phonation are vocal cords and vocal tract. The uniqueness of individual vocal sound depend on structure and usage of their vocal cords and tract. In the oriental medicine, “0-sung (5-tones)” has been used to classify constitution of human body In order to characterize the “0-sung”, their frequency characteristics are investigated, and a principal frequency component is extracted. Then, the principal component is applied to classify sounds into “0-sung.”
