A Study on the Application of Interactive Visualization Techniques to the Collections of the National Archives of Korea (기록물의 인터랙티브 시각화 적용에 관한 연구 - 국가기록원 기록물을 중심으로 -)

  • As the amount of digital collections has been increasing, a new approach is needed to improve access to records. Interactive visualization allows users to more easily browse and navigate across large collections. Cultural heritage institutions in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia introduced interactive visualization techniques to diversify ways by which to access archival records. This study aims to propose a method for applying interactive visualization to archival collections. It began with an analysis of interactive visualization cases in overseas cultural heritage institutions. Based on the analysis, a visualization of the collections held by the National Archives of Korea using various interactive visualization techniques was suggested.

  • This paper presents a visualization application using 3D-graphics for effective maintenance of power equipments. The maintenance algorithm implemented in the application is based on Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM). The main frame of the developed application was made up based on visual C++ (MFC). In order to develop the interactive 3D application, the WorldToolKit library based on Open GL was used. The developed application can help the power system operators to intuitively recognize the present state and maintenance information of the equipments.

  • Recently, the world's Information Society, already central to humankind, is rapidly changing towards a fully ubiquitous computing society through the development of USN technology. USN application web services provide convenience through environment recognition as well as automatic recognition of specific situations all through the use of USN technology. It has been proven that it can also enable the safety of human life by providing an optimal service through real-time management. Therefore, USN application web services using such technology can be applied to various aspects of life. In this paper, we have implemented a scenario of with a specific user requirement regarding collected meta-data and sensing data based USN technology. We have implemented a visualization of the solutions suitable for each scenario.

  • In this paper, our effort to apply 3-D Virtual Reality system for stereoscopic visualization of flow data is briefly described. This study is an extension of our previous and on-going research efforts to develop DATA(Data Analysis and Visualization Application) program, which is a data visualization program developed by using Qt as GUI development environment and OpenGL as graphic library. The program is developed upon the framework of object-oriented programming and it was originally developed by using Qt 3.3.3 environment. In this research the program is converted into a Qt 4.3.3-compatible version, and this new version is developed on Visual Studio 2005. And to achieve a stereoscopic viewing capability, two graphic windows are used to render its own viewing image for the lift and right eye respectively. These two windows are merged into one image using 3D monitor and the viewers can see the data visualization results with stereoscopic depth effects by using polarizing glasses. In this paper three dimensional data visualization with stereoscopic technique combined with 3D Monitor is demonstrated, and the current achievement would be a good start-up for further development of low-cost high-quality stereoscopic data visualization system.

  • The tribrachial flame in laminar coflow jet has been investigated experimentally with unsteady propagating condition. With adopting various visualization techniques, including OH-PLIF, Rayleigh Scattering technique, it was confirmed that the location of tribrachial point is on the inclined surface of flame and the propagation speed of tribrachial flame was significantly affected by the velocity gradient.

  • Visualization has a strong capability to manage and display a large volume of data. It makes system analysis more intuitive and helps an operator in monitoring system status, understanding its phenomena, identifying its problems, and performing corrective action to maintain the security of the system. In this paper visualization program is developed based on a COTS-based software development concept in a distributed environment using open-source application software and development tools.

  • In this study a framework for cost effective visualization application is presented. Visualizations of a complex street rehabilitation and a highway interchange project are performed. The visualized products were presented to political and community groups, which significantly expedited the consensus building and project approval process.

  • This paper presents a windows application for voltage sag analysis and effective data visualization. The developed Voltage Sag Analysis Tool (VSAT) was designed by using the Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concept and C++ programming language. The VSAT provides basic functions for voltage sag analysis such as power flow analysis, short circuit analysis and stochastic analysis. In particular, the VSAT provides effective data visualization through computer graphics and animation. Analysis results are expressed realistically and intuitively on geographical display. The Graphic User Interface (GUI) of VSAT was designed specifically for voltage sag analysis. In this paper, the development and implementation of VSAT is presented. In order to demonstrate the capabilities of VSAT, it is used to analyze the Jeju Island power system in South Korea.

  • Two novel industrial combustion technologies are introduced. High temperature air regenerative combustion for industrial heating system and oxyfuel combustion for power plant are considered as a energy saving and $CO_{2}$ emission reducing combustion technology. Research works are necessary to understand fundamental phenomena and to develope application technologies to industrial sector.

  • This research explains visualization of diagnostic system of 3D CAD data, IGES (Initial Graphics Exchange Specification), by using JNI(Java Native Interface) to connect between C++ and Java programming. The diagnostic system is to analyze IGES clearly by identifying errors and anomalies with respect to the diagnosis of geometry and topology of entities. The output of the system is IGES file including . error information which can be visualized with different colors by several commercial visualization systems. The paper focuses on the visualization of the result IGES which can be extended to web based application over internet.
