  • The goal of this paper is to understand the visual information process and the characteristics of behaviour of the architectural design process using visual protocol analysis through the actual experiment by the architect. The visual protocol analysis is developed on the basis of the theories of the visual information processing model and visual mental image, which can explain visual representation in architectural design process. A protocol study is reported in which the experimental data by architect is analyzed through the protocol analysis method. The whole design process is divided into the stage of 9 tasks which are classified into 18 visual representatiov. The results about visual cognition in cognitive science are reviewed and summarized, and these findings will help understand the architectural design nature.

Difference between the Types of Visual Materials Preferred by Students and Those Presented in the Science Textbooks

  • The purpose of this study is to examine whether the visual materials presented in the science textbooks coincide with those visual materials that are preferred the most by students. After analyzing the visual materials presented in the unit "Molecular Motion and Change of State" of science textbooks for the first grade of middle school, questionnaires by teaching-learning process are made. Thereafter, students are requested to select those types of visual materials that were preferred by them by process and describe their reasons for the selection. According to the results of the survey of students' perception, students at the high science achievement level prefer those visual materials that were presented conceptually and implicatively, while students at the low science achievement level prefer concrete and detailed visual materials. Except for the learning motivation process, the proportion of non-preferred visual materials is higher in the remaining processes and those visual materials that were presented in the science textbooks are much different from those visual materials that were preferred by students.

  • This paper introduces the development and current prosperity of the branch discipline of visual anthropology and describes the status and current situation of modern visual anthropology and analyzes the rationality that the achievements of visual anthropology is viewed as texts and enjoy the same achievements, making it more basis and scientific in the selection of visual anthropology in subsequent research. This article comprehensively uses Delphi method and analytic hierarchy process to construct an evaluation system of visual anthropology, as well as put forward the basic principles of screening films using this evaluation system in subsequent studies and a simple outlook for future expansion.

  • Recently, it is more important to do part of software designers for developing user-centered software. They produce visual document for helping communication between developers and visual diagram for analyzing user need factors based on user scenario. Case study of architecture real dispatch service can show developing samples. It is important to produce visual document for one combined opinion between developers in process of defining of development boundary, main concept development, selecting of development system. And visual document process with visual language by software designer is step for recognizing of user need factors before developing interface design in process of collecting design factors of user and environment and analyzing design factor by user scenario. Also, in process of interface and prototype development, it need visual document for peaceful and concord process between developers. Those visual documents with visual language could help to define developers role and duty, user-centered concept development and various interface development proposal during software developing.

  • Designer creates new design alternatives using acquisition of visual information in design process. Which is more effectiveness to acquire in directive visual information or in-directive visual information\ulcorner In this research we would like to find out that the relation of character in visual information and design alternatives. So to A subjects, we give them to see directive visual information to make visual mental imagery, to B subjects, we give them to see in-directive visual information to make it. In this experiment they must crate telephone design. C subjects must evaluate this design alternatives by questions composing scale in distinction and elegant. After a experimentation, It is true that we make hypothesis that distinct two subjects in distinction and elegant. Though elegant is opposite with hypothesis. So to make elegant design. it is import to concentrate cognitive ability. Accordingly it proves that in-directive visual information is effective for new type design stage in design process and directive visual information is effective for new style design stage in design process.

  • Business process reengineering(BPR) aims at a radical redesign of our business processes in order to achieve dramatic improvements in their performance. However, the fact that many BPR projects have failed hesitates the companies who have started to use BPR or who are planning to do so. Implementing a radical plan from a cross-functional perspective needs a more careful consideration of process vision, preventive measures and contigency plan. Our research suggests to use a visual decision making process (VDMP) in the development of a process vision and implementation plan. A BPR project of Carlaon School of Mnagement (CSOM) at the University of Minnesota is illustrated to show our suggested methodology.

  • By study the basic elements and the development process of the visual identity design, We have the aims in this study to help the design study groups in the country to develop a VI design system with a high degree of efficiency. We clarified the strategic position which the individual basic elements occupy in the visual communication process, by studying the individual function and the character of the basic elements which construct the keynote of VI design system, and the mutual relations among them. Also, we presented in this study the systematic and resonable approaching means in the design development process for the VI system with a high degree of efficiency.

Exploring Visualization Process of Expert Teachers: a Case of the Simple Visual Task

  • This paper focuses on finding out visualization process by means of VTA(Visual Task Analysis) of expert teachers' simple task. Findings indicate teachers have coding schema of performing visual task as such; (a) the analyzing by reading and some activities in the task text, (b) conceptualizing or understanding in his/her own way, (c) the explaining of the action or product, (d) the searching by thinking or finding, (e) the decision of visualizing of the task. Expert teachers tried to visualize in the form of abstract graph, and to omit the object which was not directly related to the topic at the pilot study. VAT based on ground theory and protocol analysis was developed and performed. This case study suggests that an additional study for searching a guide and method might be beneficial for conducting a visual task analysis.
