Workflow for Anamorphic 3D Advertising based on Image Distortion

  • In producing anamorphic 3D advertisement projects, it is necessary to apply the principles of illusion art to distort the images output to the screen (Image Distortion) so that their display aligns with our visual perception in a real three-dimensional environment. We focuse on the methods of image distortion in the creation of content for anamorphic 3D advertisement screens in this thesis. We propose using Unity 3D's real-time rendering instead of the offline rendering method of compositing method, and employing UV grid mapping to replace the manual correction in Adobe After Effects(AE). The significance of this paper lies in simplifying the image distortion processing workflow in anamorphic 3D projects and optimizing the image distortion creation methods used in compositing method. In outdoor anamorphic 3D advertisement projects, the proposed image distortion creation method demonstrates significant advantages in terms of production time, process simplification, flexibility, and expansion possibilities. Our research provides new perspectives and methods for the creation of anamorphic 3D content, offering theoretical and methodological references for professionals working on similar contents.

문자의 크기지각에 대한 실험연구 (An Experimental Study for Letter Size Perception)

  • 본 연구는 배경과 시각도, 물리적 크기, 자간, 인지방향 등의 요소가 대상 문자의 크기지각에 어떠한 영향을 미치고 있는지에 대해 검토한 것으로 실험 I에서는 숫자를 대상으로 실험 II에서는 한글을 대상으로 크기지각에 대한 실험연구를 진행했다. 실험 I에서는 숫자를 대상으로 2수준의 배경과 3수준의 시각도, 9수준의 물리적 크기를 변화시킨 54 종류의 Task에 대한 크기평가가 시행되었으며, 실험 II에서는 한글을 대상으로 9수준의 물리적 크기, 2수준의 배경, 3수준의 방향, 2수준의 자간요소들을 변화시킨 108 종류의 Task에 대한 크기평가가 실시되었다. 실험 I, II 모두 크기지각에 대한 측정방법으로는 매그니튜드 측정법이 사용되었다. 실험 I의 결과, 숫자의 크기지각에 배경과 시각도, 물리적 크기가 영향을 미치고 있음이 증명되었으며, 물리적 크기 100 (기준자극의 크기) 이상의 대상들에 대해 지각적 크기의 과소시가, 100이하의 대상들에 대해서는 과대시 경향이 나타났다. 그리고 이러한 경향은 Delboeuf 착시효과가 문자의 크기지각에도 나타나고 있음을 시사했다. 실험 II의 결과, 한글의 크기지각에 있어 물리적 크기, 자간, 인지방향 등의 요소가 대상의 지각에 영향을 미치고 있음이 증명되었으며, 자간, 인지방향에 의한 크기착시 역시 주변 문자와의 관계에 의한 것으로 고찰 검토되었다.

  • Interesting education which utilizes cyber visual and audio multimedia effects, we regard it as a very effective education but those programs are not prepared yet. So, the purpose of this research is to provide a new direction for cyber fashion education with the use of avatars as the multimedia factor to increase student's interest and understanding. First, we investigated the present situation of fashion cyber education and the present avatar usage situation online, and also we searched literature and the internet to investigate the general theory of design. Second, we used Adobe photoshop 7.0 to make avatars, then, we used Macromedia Flash MX to design the avatar on our web site, and to make it look more realistic. According to the research results, cyber fashion education is usually used as marketing in certain areas, and for middle school, and high school students it is mainly used as text and lecture videos. When searching for fashion sites that use avatars, we found that most fashion shopping malls use them. Because avatars can give visual effects and also increase interest and fun, they can increase concentration and understanding and can be effective in fashion cyber education.

아나모르포즈(anamorphose)지각현상에 의한 공간 표현 연구 (A Study on the Expression by Anamorphose Phenomenon)

  • Anamorphosis is highly favored in modern days as the atmosphere of pursuing unusual manners is growing while transformation and distortion of images are freely available. This research is to understand the affect of these distorted images on space designs and the close connection between anamorphosis and visual perceptions, and to identify the new perceptual phenomenon created through it, and the methods of expressing those. Four expressional methods were defined through the process of studying Anamorphosis based on its definition by Niceron, examining artworks such as paintings and photographs, and case-studying example spaces of visual perception experiments. Expressing anamorphosis through visual perceptions are broadly categorized to directional, dimensional, flatness, and optical. The analysis of 10 case projects suggests that the experimental spaces offer joys of finding and interpreting metaphorical forms and meanings caused by the four characteristic categories above. Also, they artificially show the boundaries between reality and virtual spaces in 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional spaces, and form hyper-boundaries, new experience, and an internal mechanism that is vague and chaotic. Therefore, this research concludes that anamorphosis which is a distorted perspective, is not only a simple measure to overcome perspectival errors, but is an existence suitable to the current era, that will extend its potential and value in spatial design.

큐브 형태의 공간 변화를 표현한 스카프 디자인 (The scarf design expressing the cube form space change)

  • This paper focuses on the spatial changes that create a three-dimensional or deep feeling on the surface of a scarf centering on the cube shape. Through this, consumers with various tastes were able to satisfy their image presentation. The cube form has simplicity and order and is likely to be used as a formative object. The cube shapes can be expressed in various forms through visual and perceptual spatial changes by presenting various shape changes based on the viewpoint of the two-dimensional silk surface, that is, by changing the eyes' position and orientation. Various visual theorists' discussions about cube-shaped visual changes were discussed. In addition, the three-dimensional spatial illusion caused by the shape and color of Victor Bazaarelli's cube was examined. The cube shape was printed silk surfaces to give a three-dimensional sense of space on a two-dimensional scarf design using the size change, the difference in the length of the line, and the color change. As such, the cube shape has infinite possibilities as a method that can express three-dimensional depth and space on the flat surface of a scarf. Therefore, it is hoped that this study will be applied to various aspects as the basic data for the scarf design that expresses the spatial changes in the form of cubes.

배기팬츠 엉덩이둘레 여유분과 밑위길이 여유분 변화에 따른 시각적 이미지 - 20대 여성을 중심으로 - (Image differences based on changes in hip circumference and crotch length in baggy pants - Focused on women in their 20s -)

  • With a long crotch length and much ease in the hip area, baggy pants are visually expressed in a variety of designs when compared with regular pants. The purpose of this study is to define the image differences of various baggy pants designs according to hip circumference and crotch length ease. To that end, this study deduced the visual image variable of experimental baggy pants and analyzed visual images according to changes in hip circumference and crotch length. Nine baggy pants with different levels of hip circumference and crotch length ease were produced as experimental pants. The image of each pair of experimental baggy pants was evaluated based on pictures taken of the pants worn by a woman in her 20s with a standard body figure. The image assessment team was composed of 105 clothing majors. The research results are as follows. Four visual image factors of experimental baggy pants were extracted: whole body compensation, lower body compensation, hip compensation, and waist compensation. Among the 4 factors, the whole body compensation factor was shown as the most representative factor. The body compensation image was higher with less hip circumference ease in the experimental baggy pants, and more hip circumference ease created the optical illusion of a larger body figure, presenting a significant difference between waist circumference and hip circumference. The lower body compensation factor, hip compensation factor, and waist compensation factor all showed a significant influence on changes in hip circumference ease. This result shows that changes in hip circumference ease exerted more influence on the body compensation image than did changes in crotch length ease. The results of this study provide basic data for predicting visual images according to differences in the level of ease in baggy pants, helping people select clothing suitable to their preferences and body shapes.

하이 웨이스트 스커트의 허리선높이와 스커트 길이 변화에 따른 시각적 이미지 차이 (Differences of Visual Image according to Changes in Waistlines and Lengths of High-Waist Skirts)

  • This study aimed to find the components of visual image by researching main image-related adjectives applied to high-waist skirts. In addition, it compared and analyzed the differences and mutual influences of visual images according to variations in the waistline and skirt length of high-waist skirts. The researchers made nine high-waist skirts-combinations of three different levels of waistlines and skirt lengths. The test involved 121 people who hold degrees in the field of Clothing and Textiles. The panels tested actual images of all models wearing the high-waist skirts shown on a computer screen. The results of the study are as follows.: Four factors affected the visual image as waist-height and skirt-length changed: attractiveness, upper-body compensation, length compensation, and hips compensation. Among these factors, attractiveness was estimated as the most important factor. The torso and the hip were highlighted as the waistline increased from 3cm to 11cm, due to the optical illusion of a tighter skirt wrapping the bust, waist, and hips. As the waistline increased, the stature and leg length increased, possibly revising the overall appearance. For the skirt length, a length measuring 20cm above the knees, proved to be most attractive. This resulted in elongated height and leg length, and a slimmer overall look.

애니메이션의 매혹성에 대한 고찰 (A Study on the Fascination of Animation)

  • 애니메이션은 움직임의 환영을 통해 환상을 추구하는 독특하고 강력한 매체이다. 특별한 이해관계가 없으면서도 고도로 주의가 이끌려 몰입된 상태를 매혹이라고 정의할 때, 애니메이션은 확실히 매혹적이다. 애니메이션이 가지는 매혹의 힘은 그 환영이 마치 현실처럼 설득력이 있다는 데에서 시작된다. 애니메이션은 신기한 움직임과 아름다운 이미지 등 시각적 센세이션을 통해 일단 관객의 시선을 사로잡고, 이렇게 집중시킨 관객의 관심을 애니메이션을 통해서만 표현이 가능한 환상적 내러티브를 통해 유지시킨다. 이성적으로 명백히 불가능한 이야기가 시각적으로 완벽한 신빙성을 가지고 제시될 때, 관객은 그 환상에 매혹된다. 우리의 애니메이션에 대한 매혹은 지각과 이성이 단기적으로나마 불일치될 만큼 설득력 있는 환상이 존재한다는 데에 대한 감탄이자 찬사다. 환상과 애니메이션은 서로 불가분의 관계로 엮여 현실과 비현실의 경계선에서 매혹을 만들어내고 있는 것이다.

초현실주의 회화의 Automatism 기법을 이용한 패션디스플레이 (Fashion Display by Automatism Techniques of Surrealism Paintings)

  • The surrealism for the revelation of the unconscious realms shares the inner world of mentality with modern fashion display for the visual expression of sensation each other. The analysis of the influence which automatism technique of surrealism exerts on fashion display showed as follows : 1) The automatism technique elevated the dramatic effect of the sales room by scraping the perspective, or the principle of visual arts. 2) It maximized the effect of subject of the display by coinciding surrealism with realism. 3) The technique which distorts the things heralded the strong message to customers by letting them keep away from the fixed idea. 4) Humorous expression of display brought about the effect of sales stimulation by giving astonishment, shock and exaggeration. 5) Expression of surrealism and realism caused customers to feel shock, illusion, fantasy. 6) The automatism technique expressed the high-tech image, and free expression by revealing the diversity of subject. 7) Display hinted from nature satisfied the mental desire of the human beings to be assimilated with nature. The formative characteristic presented the new possibility of combination of display with arts through the avant-garde sensation. Sale's room, or the marketing space was to be sublimated to three dimensional art space, which enhanced the image of sale's room, furthermore meeting the demand of moderner's lifestyle.

착시 국그릇으로 유도한 시각적 착오가 음식섭취량과 포만도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Visual Perception on Food Consumption and Satiety Levels Using a Modified Soup Bowl)

  • We examined whether visual perception related to consumption norms could influence food consumption and satiety by using modified soup bowls with elevated bottoms. Twenty-six healthy women (BMI 19.9 $kg/m^2$ Age 24 yr) participated in the study once a week for 2 weeks. The subjects were served beef shank soup in one of two soup bowls (180 g soup in the modified bowl or 250 g soup in the normal bowl). The results showed that subjects who ate from the modified soup bowl consumed less soup (135.3 kcal vs 180.0 kcal, P<0.001) and had lower total energy intake (390.6 kcal vs 438.1 kcal, P<0.01) than those who ate from the normal soup bowl. However, despite consuming fewer calories, satiety levels of those who ate from the modifed soup bowl were not significantly different from those using the normal soup bowl. In conclusion, these results indicate that the modified soup bowl which created a distorted visual perception ot the amount of soup in the bowl leads to decreased soup intake and total energy intake without altering satiety. The reduced amount of soup in the modified soup bowl may also implicitly suggest what might be interpreted as an appropriate amount to consume, and also in essence suggest reduced consumption norm.
