청각을 이용한 시각 재현 시스템의 개발 (Development of Processing System for Audio-vision System Based on Auditory Input)

  • The audio vision system was developed for visually impaired people and usability was verified. In this study ten normal volunteers were included in the subject group and their mean age was 28.8 years old. Male and female ratio was 7:3. The usability of audio vision system was verified by as follows. First, volunteers learned distance of obstacles and up-down discrimination. After learning of audio vision system, indoor and outdoor walking examination was performed. The test was scored by ability of up-down and lateral discrimination, distance recognition and walking without collision. Each parameter was scored by 1 to 5. The results were 93.5 +- SD(ranges, 86 to 100) of 100. In this study, we could convert visual information to auditory information by audio-vision system and verified possibility of applying to daily life for visually impaired people.

  • Driving simulators are used effectively for human factor study, vehicle system development and other purposes by enabling to reproduce actural driving conditions in a safe and tightly controlled enviornment. Interactive simulation requries appropriate sensory and stimulus cuing to the driver . Sensory and stimulus feedback can include visual , auditory, motion, and proprioceptive cues. A fixed-base driving simulator has been developed in this study for vehicle system developmnet and human factor study . The simulator consists of improved and synergistic subsystems (a real-time vehicle simulation system, a visual/audio system and a control force loading system) based on the motion -base simulator, KMU DS-Ⅰ developed for design and evaluation of a full-scale driving simulator and for driver-vehicle interaction.

  • In this Paper, an Audio-Visual Teaching aid (AVTA) for use in a classroom and with Internet is presented. A system, which was designed and tested, consists of a wireless Microphone system, Text to Speech conversion Software, Noise filtering circuit and a Computer. An IBM compatible PC with sound card and Network Interface card and a Web browser and a voice and text messenger service were used to provide slightly delayed text and also voice over the internet for remote teaming, while providing scrolling text from a real time lecture in a classroom. The motivation for design of this system, was to aid Korean students who may have difficulty in listening comprehension while have, fairly good reading ability of text. This application of this system is twofold. On one hand it will help the students in a class to view and listen to a lecture, and on the other hand, it will serve as a vehicle for remote access (audio and text) for a classroom lecture. The project provides a simple and low cost solution to remote learning and also allows a student to have access to classroom in emergency situations when the student, can not attend a class. In addition, such system allows the student in capturing a teacher's lecture in audio and text form, without the need to be present in class or having to take many notes. This system will therefore help students in many ways.

IPTV에서 PKI기반의 안전한 인증시스템 (Based PKI System for Secure Authentication on IPTV)

  • IPTV는 방송과 통신의 대표적인 융합서비스이다. 이는 가입자들의 요구를 만족시키는 다양한 콘텐츠와 더불어 효율적인 서비스를 제공한다. IPTV 가입자들이 급격하게 증가함에 따라서 콘텐츠 제공자들이 늘어나고 있다. 따라서 불법 콘텐츠 시청자, 부당한 시청권한 부여 및 서비스 제한을 방지하기 위해 안전한 인증시스템을 필요로 한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 PKI기반을 이용하여 키 정보를 생성하고 IPTV 가입자들에게 생성한 키를 안전하게 분배하고 IPTV 가입자와 콘텐츠 제공자의 신분 인증 기능을 수행하는 방안을 제안하였다. 제안시스템은 안전성 있고 효율적인 상호 신분 확인 및 인증을 제공한다.

휴모노이드 로봇을 위한 시청각 정보 기반 음원 정위 시스템 구현 (Implementation of Sound Source Localization Based on Audio-visual Information for Humanoid Robots)

  • This paper presents an implementation of real-time speaker localization using audio-visual information. Four channels of microphone signals are processed to detect vertical as well as horizontal speaker positions. At first short-time average magnitude difference function(AMDF) signals are used to determine whether the microphone signals are human voices or not. And then the orientation and distance information of the sound sources can be obtained through interaural time difference. Finally visual information by a camera helps get finer tuning of the angles to speaker. Experimental results of the real-time localization system show that the performance improves to 99.6% compared to the rate of 88.8% when only the audio information is used.

  • In this paper, a program controlling an auto-audio media - cassette deck - by a 16 bit personal computer is studied in order to execute audio and visual learning in CAI. The results of this study are as follows. 1. Audio and visual learning is executed efficiently in CAI. 2. Access rate of voice information to text/image information is about 98% and 60% in "play" and "fast forward" respectively. 3. In "fast forward", quality of a cassette tape affects voice information access rate in propotion to motor driving speed. 4. Synchronizing signal may be mistaken by defects of tape itself.

  • 최근들어 오디오, 비디오와 이미지 같은 다양한 디지털 멀티미디어 데이터의 인덱싱, 브라우징과 질의를 위한 새로운 형태의 시스템이 개발되었다. 이러한 시스템은 각 미디어 스트림을 실제 물리적 이벤트에 따라서 작은 유닛단위로 나누고, 물리적 이벤트들을 검색을 위해서 효율적으로 인덱스화 시킨다. 본 논문에서는 오디오-비주얼 데이터의 분석과 세그멘테이션을 위해서 각 데이터가 가지고 있는 오디오, 이미지, 비디오 특징을 이용하는 새로운 방법을 사용한다. 이것은 이미지나 비디오만을 분석했던 이전의 방법들을 문제점을 해결 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 방법을 이용하여 XCRAB이라고 불리는 웹 기반 멀티미디어 검색 시스템을 구현하였고, 성능평가를 위해서 여러가지 질의의 조합을 이용하여 실험을 하였다.

  • This paper propose a hardware architecure of multimediasysgem for integrated processing of the multimedia data such as audio and video, and describes on the design and implementation of multimedia integrated processing Unit. The unit comprises most commonly needed multimedia processing function for computer-based video conference: audio-visual datacapture, playback, compression, decompression as well as interleaving/disinterleaving of compressed audio-visual data. The proposed architecture minimizes the CPU overhead that might be caused by multimedia data processing and assures the fluent data flow among system components. Also, this unit is tested and analyzed under the computer-based video conference to confirm the multimedia unit of proposed architecture using communication protocol and application software through Ethernet and FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface) networks.

  • Acrophobia is an abnormal fear of heights. Medications or cognitive-behavior methods have been mainly used as a treatment. Lately the virtual reality technology has been applied to that kind of anxiety disorders. A virtual environment provides patient with stimuli which arouses phobia, and exposing to that environment makes him having ability to over come the fear. Recently, the patient can take diagnose from a medical doctor in distance with the telemedicine system. The hospital and doctors can get the medical data, audio, video, signals in the actual examination room or operating room via a live interactive system. Audio visual and multimedia conference service, online questionary, ECG signal transfer system, update system are needed in this system. Virtual reality simulation system that composed with a position sensor, head mount display, and audio system, is also included in this telemedicine system. In this study, we tried this system to the acrophobia patient in distance.

  • 소리-시각 인터랙티브 설치미술인 "Water Music" 은 관객의 음성에 따라서 변하는 물결의 파동을 표현한다. 음정인식 기반 인터페이스 기술을 이용하여 벽면에 비디오 프로젝션 된 시각적 물결이미지로 나타난다. 물결이미지는 동양화의 붓으로 그린 물결과 작은 원형의 입자들을 생성하여 표현된 영상으로 구성된다. 관객은 입김을 불어 넣거나 소리를 냄으로써 화면에서 연속적으로 생성되는 컴퓨터 프로그램 기반 물결의 움직임과 상호 반응할 수 있다. 이러한 공생적인 소리 시각 환경은 관객에게 생각으로 그리고 신체적으로 환영적 공간을 경험하도록 한다. 본 설치작업에서 관객과 상호 반응 할 수 있는 움직이는 물결을 생성하기 위하여 적용된 주요 프로그램은 Visual C++ and DirectX SDK이며, 풀 프레임 3D 렌더링 기술과 파티클 시스템이 사용되었다.
