Recently, various researches have been attempted to effectively display pseudo-aural senses to the hearing-impaired or the deaf, using vibro-tactile stimulus as well as visual sense. Particularly, it is reported that as complementary senses to support the visual sense, tactile senses displayed by either speakers or vibration motors improve the reality sense significantly but do not nearly improve the emotional sense. Thus, in this study, the thermal sense is selected as another complementary sense to support the pseudo-aural sense display and it is investigated whether the thermal sense could generate a pseudo-aural sense or not. For this purpose, a thermal display module which could effectively display the desired thermal sense is implemented. Then, experiments have been conducted to subjects, which provide them with various types of stimuli combined with the aural, the vibrotactile, and the thermal stimuli along with the visual information. It can be confirmed, through statistical analysis on the data collected from experiments, that subjects could feel a pseudo-thermal sense closer to the real thermal sense which the normal subject feel from both the visual and the aural information, particularly either i) with the thermal stimulus along with the visual information or ii) with both the thermal and the vibrotactile stimuli along with the visual information than only with the visual information. Conclusively, it can be confirmed that the thermal stimulus applied to the skin of the subjects could play a role of effectively displaying pseudo-aural sense related to the thermal sense, as an complementary media for the pseudo-aural display.
Captive breeding and reintroduction are crucial strategies for conserving endangered species populations. However, fish raised in predator-free environments, show a lack of recognition of predationrelated stimuli such as chemical and visual signals. It is critical to recognize chemical signals from injured conspecifics, also known as alarm signals, and the order or shape of predators to indicate the spread of predation risk in the habitat. We conducted a laboratory experiment to determine and adjust the optimal exposure period to induce appropriate anti-predator behavior response to different types of stimuli (Chemical, Visual and Chemical+Visual) for the endangered species Microphysogobio rapidus. Our results demonstrate that predator avoidance behavior varies depending on the types of stimuli and the duration of predation risk exposure. First, the results showed captive-breed M. rapidus show lack of response against conspecific alarm signal (Chemical cue) before the predation risk exposure period and tend to increase response over predation risk exposure time. Second, response to predator (visual cue) tend to peak at 48 hours cumulative exposure, but show dramatic decrease after 72 hours cumulative exposure. Finally, response to the mixed cue (Chemical+visual) tend to peak prior to the predation risk exposure period and show reduced response during subsequent exposure periods. This experiment confirms the lack of responsiveness to conspecific alarm signals in captive-bred M. rapidus and the need for an optimal nature behavior enhancement program prior to release of endangered species. Furthermore, responsiveness to predator visual signal peak at 48 hours cumulative exposure, suggest an optimal predation risk exposure period of up to 48 hours.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of tone-on-tone coloration on the visual images of traditional Korean dress. The materials in the experiment developed for this study were made up of various stimuli and the response scales for each stimulus. The stimuli were 48 color pictures with various combination of colors, in which the tones of jackets and skirts were manipulated by computer drawing. 24 bi-polar adjectives, each of which was graded into seven in its degree, were used to evaluate each image. The subjects were 576 female students in Jinju City. This experiment was based on the $3{\times}4{\times}4$ factorial designs: color (red, yellow and green), jacket tone (vivid, light, dull and dark) and skirt tone (vivid, light, dull and dark). The results of the study can be summarized as follows; Impression factor of the stimuli consisted of the 5 different dimensions - youthfullness and activity, attractiveness, gracefullness, visibility, and tenderness. The colors and the tone of jackets and skirts used in this experiment influenced 5 impression dimension by interaction of two valuables or working independently. Yellow and green with vivid or light tone had an effect on the formation of youth and activity image, and dark-light combination had an effect on the formation of attractiveness image. In case of green color, light tone of a jacket and vivid or dull tone of a skirt affected gracefulness, while yellow has no impact on visibility image regardless of skirt tone. Red and yellow with vivid or light tone were a factor to decide tenderness.
A comprehensive psychophysical scaling system, multiple-modality magnitude estimation system (MMES) has been designed to measure subjective multidimensional human perception. Unlike paper-based magnitude estimation systems, the MMES has an additional auditory peripheral cue that varies with corresponding visual magnitude. As the simplest, purely psychological case, bimodal divided-attention conditions were simulated to establish the superiority of the MMES. Subjects were given brief presentations of pairs of simultaneous stimuli consisting of visual line-lengths and auditory white-noise levels. In the visual or auditory focused-attention conditions, only the line-lengths or the noise levels perceived should be reported respectively. On the other hand, in the divided-attention conditions, both the line-lengths and the noise levels should be reported. There were no significant differences among the different attention conditions. Human performance was better when the proportion of magnitude in stimulus pairs were identically presented. The additional auditory cues in the MMES improved the correlations between the magnitude of stimuli and MMES values in the divided-attention conditions.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference of the visual evaluation about clothing texture, the state of wearing and the method of presentation. The data from observation were analyzed by factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test and MCA. The results of this study were as follows ; 1. 17 pairs of discriptors used for the visual evaluation of clothing stimuli were found to include four factor dimensions(total variance 65.6%) ; Attention, Appearance, Texture, Maturity. 2. For the image of clothing texture, there were significant differences in the attention and texture. 3. For the image of the state of wearing, there were significant differences in the attention and appearance. 4. For the image of the method of presentation, there were significant differences in the clothing texture and the state of wearing. 5. According to clothing texture, the state of wearing and the method of presentation, the interaction effect was significant in the attention and appearance.
The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of three clothing cues(jacket color, skirt color, and tone of Korean dress) on the image of Korean dress wearer using tone-in-tone coloration. The experimental materials developed for this study are a set of stimuli and response scales. The stimuli are 16 color pictures manipulated with three clothing cues by drawing. The 7-point scale designed for visual evaluation of female impression formation includes 24 bipolar adjectives. The subjects were 192 undergraduate female students in Chinju city. The results of this study are as follow: As analyzing the image of female figure by the jacket color, skirt color, and tone, three factors including youth activity, attractiveness, and visibility were identified. Among these factors, youth activity and attractiveness were proved to be more important. Each dimensional image was affected by color coordination of jacket color, skirt color and tone of korean dress. Therefore, the image of Korean dress wearer could be varied by color coordination of jacket color, skirt color and tone of Korean dress.

This study evaluates the difference in visual images according to changes in waist position and pants style. The researcher made twelve stimuli-combination of four pants styles (classic, baggy, skinny, bell-bottom) and three waist positions (0cm, -3cm, -5cm). The test involved 48 female college students. The stimuli were made using the i-Designer computer program. The panels tested the screen images of all manikins wearing pants. A 7-point scale was used to evaluate each image. For the data analysis, the ANOVA and Duncan-test were applied along with an SPSS program. The results of this study are as follows. The visual evaluations by pants style and waist position are composed of seven factors (attractiveness, attention, hip, activity, height, waist, abdomen). Among these factors, attractiveness is evaluated to be the most important factor. The mutual agreement of the visual effect (according to pants style and waist position) was indicated as four factors of attractiveness, attention, waist, and abdomen. The height factor is evaluated to be the most important factor by change in regards to waist position. The 0cm waist position of three styles (classic, baggy, bell-bottom) were evaluated positively in elongated height whereas the -3cm, -5cm waist position of the skinny style was evaluated positively in elongated height. The mutual agreements of visual effect (according to pants style and waist position) were not indicated.
Background and Objectives: The influence of visual stimulus on the auditory component in the perception of auditory-visual (AV) consonant-vowel syllables has been demonstrated in different languages. Inherent properties of unimodal stimuli are known to modulate AV integration. The present study investigated how the amount of McGurk effect (an outcome of AV integration) varies across three different consonant combinations in Kannada language. The importance of unimodal syllable identification on the amount of McGurk effect was also seen. Subjects and Methods: Twenty-eight individuals performed an AV identification task with ba/ga, pa/ka and ma/ṇa consonant combinations in AV congruent, AV incongruent (McGurk combination), audio alone and visual alone condition. Cluster analysis was performed using the identification scores for the incongruent stimuli, to classify the individuals into two groups; one with high and the other with low McGurk scores. The differences in the audio alone and visual alone scores between these groups were compared. Results: The results showed significantly higher McGurk scores for ma/ṇa compared to ba/ga and pa/ka combinations in both high and low McGurk score groups. No significant difference was noted between ba/ga and pa/ka combinations in either group. Identification of /ṇa/ presented in the visual alone condition correlated negatively with the higher McGurk scores. Conclusions: The results suggest that the final percept following the AV integration is not exclusively explained by the unimodal identification of the syllables. But there are other factors which may also contribute to making inferences about the final percept.

When a film company decides whether to invest or not in a scenario is the appropriate time to predict box office success. In response to market demands, AI based scenario analysis service has been launched, yet the algorithm is by no means perfect. The purpose of this study is to present a prediction model of movie scenario's box office hit based on human brain processing mechanism. In order to derive patterns of visual, auditory, and cognitive stimuli on the time spectrum of box office animation hit, this study applied Weber's law and brain mechanism. The results are as follow. First, the frequency of brain stimulation in the biggest box office movies was 1.79 times greater than that in the failure movies. Second, in the box office success, the cognitive stimuli codes are spread evenly, whereas in the failure, concentrated among few intervals. Third, in the box office success movie, cognitive stimuli which have big cognition load appeared alone, whereas visual and auditory stimuli which have little cognitive load appeared simultaneously.
