  • This study proposes a new approach to design and control for autonomous mobile robots. In this paper, we describes a fuzzy logic based visual servoing system for an autonomous mobile robot. An existing system always needs to keep a moving object in overall image. This mes difficult to move the autonomous mobile robot spontaneously. In this paper we first explain an autonomous mobile robot and fuzzy logic system. And then we design a fuzzy logic based visual servoing system. We extract some features of the object from an overall image and then design a fuzzy logic system for controlling the visual servoing system to an exact position. We here introduce a shooting robot that can track an object and hit it. It is illustrated that the proposed system presents a desirable performance by a computer simulation and some experiments.

  • A simple and accurate depth estimation algorithm for an IBVS (Image-Based Visual Servoing) is presented. Specifically, this algorithm is useful for under-actuated systems such as visual-guided quadrotor UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles). Since the image of a marker changes with changing pitch and roll angles of quadrotor, it is difficult to estimate depth. The proposed algorithm compensates a shape of the marker, so that the system acquire more accurate depth information without complicated processes. Also, the roll and pitch channels are decoupled so that the IBVS algorithm can be used in an under-actuated quadrotor system.

  • Nano manipulator is used to manufacture Carbon NanoTube(CNT) tips. Using nano manipulator, operator attaches a CNT at the apex of Atomic Force Microscope(AFM) tip, which requires a mastery of mechanics and long manufacture time. Nano manipulator is installed inside a Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM) chamber to observe the operation. This paper presents a control scheme for horizontal axes of nano manipulator via processing SEM image. Edges of AFM tip and CNT are first detected, and the position information so obtained is fed to control horizontal axes of nano manipulator. That is, a visual servoing loop is realized to control the axes more precisely in nano scale.

  • A visual servoing algorithm is proposed for a robot with a camera in hand. Specifically, novel image features are suggested by employing a viewing model of perspective projection to estimate relative pitching and yawing angles between the object and the camera. To compensate dynamic characteristics of the robot, desired feature trajectories for the learning of visually guided line-of-sight robot motion are obtained by measuring features by the camera in hand not in the entire workspace, but on a single linear path along which the robot moves under the control of a, commercially provided function of linear motion. And then, control actions of the camera are approximately found by fuzzy-neural networks to follow such desired feature trajectories. To show the validity of proposed algorithm, some experimental results are illustrated, where a four axis SCARA robot with a B/W CCD camera is used.

  • This paper presents a new approach to visual servoing with the stereo vision. In order to control the position and orientation of a robot with respect to an object, a new technique is proposed using a binocular stereo vision. The stereo vision enables us to calculate an exact image Jacobian not only at around a desired location but also at the other locations. The suggested technique can guide a robot manipulator to the desired location without giving such priori knowledge as the relative distance to the desired location or the model of an object even if the initial positioning error is large. This paper describes a model of stereo vision and how to generate feedback commands. The performance of the proposed visual servoing system is illustrated by the simulation and experimental results and compared with the case of conventional method fur a SCARA robot.

  • This paper proposes a new approach to the designed of visual feedback control system based on visual servoing method. The main focus of this paper is presented how it is effective to use many features for improving the accuracy of the visual feedback control of industrial articulated robot for assembling and inspection of parts. Some rank conditions, which relate the image Jacobian, and the control performance are derived. It is also proven that the accuracy is improved by increasing the number of features. The effectiveness of redundant features is verified by the real time experiments on a SCARA type robot(FARA) made in samsung electronics company.

  • This paper presents a new method for visual servoing to control the pose(position and orientation) of the robotic manipulators for grasping the 3-D moving object whose initial pose and moving informations are unknown by using the stereo camera. The stereo camera is mounted on the end-effector of robotic manipulator. In order to track the current pose of robotic manipulator to the desired pose, we use the image Jacobian, which is described by the differential transform, relating the change in image feature point to the change in the object's pose with respect to the camera. In this paper the simple PD controller is adopted for the robotic manipulator to track the desired pose. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed by some computer simulations.

  • This study aims to demonstrate the feasibility of a visual servoing-based paired structured light (SL) robot for estimating structural displacement under various external loads. The former paired SL robot, which was proposed in the previous study, was composed of two screens facing with each other, each with one or two lasers and a camera. It was found that the paired SL robot could estimate the translational and rotational displacement each in 3-DOF with high accuracy and low cost. However, the measurable range is fairly limited due to the limited screen size. In this paper, therefore, a visual servoing-based 2-DOF manipulator which controls the pose of lasers is introduced. By controlling the positions of the projected laser points to be on the screen, the proposed robot can estimate the displacement regardless of the screen size. We performed various simulations and experimental tests to verify the performance of the newly proposed robot. The results show that the proposed system overcomes the range limitation of the former system and it can be utilized to accurately estimate the structural displacement.

  • It is necessary to improve the exactness and adaptation of the working environment for the intelligent robot system. The vision sensor have been studied for a long time at this points. However, it has many processes and difficulties for the real usages. This paper proposes a visual servoing in the virtual environment to support OLP(Off-Line-Programming) path compensation and supplement the problem of complexity of the old kinematical calibration. Initial robot path could be compensated by pixel differences between real and virtual image. This method removes the varies calibrations and 3D reconstruction process in real working space. To show the validity of the proposed approach, virtual space servoing with stereo camera is carried out with WTK and openGL library for a KUKA-6R manipulator and updated real robot path.
