Design and Implementation of BACnet MS/TP Field Controller Prototype and MS/TP Network Monitoring System (BACnet MS/TP 필드제어기 프로토타입 및 MS/TP 네트워크 감시 장치의 설계 및 구현)

  • BACnet is an international standard communication protocol especially designed for building automation and control systems. BACnet uses the Master-Slave/Token-Passing (MS/TP) protocol as one of its field-level networks. A BACnet MS/TP field controller prototype and MS/TP network monitoring system are developed in this study. This report introduces the design and implementation methodology of a BACnet MS/TP field controller hardware, firmware and protocol stack. This report also presents the implementation methodology of BACnet MS/TP network monitoring system using VTS (Visual Test Shell). The methodologies introduced in this report will facilitate the develop and implementation of the BACnet-based control systems in building automation area.

  • This paper describes the Around View Monitoring (AVM) system for hydraulic excavators that prevents the safety accidents caused by blind spots and increases the operational efficiency. To verify the developed system, experiments were conducted with its prototype. The experimental results demonstrate its applicability in the field with the following values: 7m of a visual range, 15fps of image refresh rate, 300ms of working information data reception rate, and 300ms of surface condition data reception rate.

  • In view of the problems of insufficient data collection and processing capability of multi-source heterogeneous equipment, and low visibility of equipment status at the ship block construction site. A data collection method for ship block construction equipment based on wireless sensor network (WSN) technology and a data processing method based on edge computing were proposed. Based on the Browser/Server (B/S) architecture and the OneNET platform, an online monitoring system for ship block construction equipment was designed and developed, which realized the visual online monitoring and management of the ship block construction equipment status. Not only that, the feasibility and reliability of the monitoring system were verified by using the intelligent tire frame system as the application object. The research of this project can lay the foundation for the ship block construction equipment management and the ship block intelligent construction, and ultimately improve the quality and efficiency of ship block construction.

An Interactive Monitoring Application for Secure Experiments of Guidance System for Person with Visual Impairment (시각장애인 보행지원 시스템의 안전한 실험을 위한 대화식 모니터링 어플리케이션)

  • In previous study, we developed a guidance system outdoors for person with visual impairment to be able to walk safely to the destination. The volunteers are exposed to dangerous situations since they are performed to the experiments in the outdoors. In order to solve the problem, we propose an interactive application that monitors the volunteer wearing guidance system and warns remotely the volunteer about dangerous situations. The application is used to remote wireless communication with guidance system through Bluetooth module that is built in a laptop computer, without additional device. Therefore, we can monitor in real time user's location and guided contents to user, and it is possible to check a path to the destination and POI (Point of Interest) coordinate values. As using a proposed monitoring application, it is possible to perform safe experiment with the rapid situation awareness and fast detection of dangerous.

An Image Processing Algorithm for a Visual Weld Defects Detection on Weld Joint in Steel Structure (강구조물 용접이음부 외부결함의 자동검출 알고리즘)

  • The aim of this study is to construct a machine vision monitoring system for an automatic visual inspection of weld joint in steel structure. An image processing algorithm for a visual weld defects detection on weld bead is developed using the intensity image. An optic system for getting four intensity images was set as a fixed camera position and four different illumination directions. The input images were thresholded and segmented after a suitable preprocessing and the features of each region were defined and calculated. The features were used in the detection and the classification of the visual weld defects. It is confirmed that the developed algorithm can detect weld defects that could not be detected by previously developed techniques. The recognized results were evaluated and compared to expert inspectors' results.

Visual Servoing-Based Paired Structured Light Robot System for Estimation of 6-DOF Structural Displacement (구조물의 6자유도 변위 측정을 위한 비주얼 서보잉 기반 양립형 구조 광 로봇 시스템)

  • This study aims to demonstrate the feasibility of a visual servoing-based paired structured light (SL) robot for estimating structural displacement under various external loads. The former paired SL robot, which was proposed in the previous study, was composed of two screens facing with each other, each with one or two lasers and a camera. It was found that the paired SL robot could estimate the translational and rotational displacement each in 3-DOF with high accuracy and low cost. However, the measurable range is fairly limited due to the limited screen size. In this paper, therefore, a visual servoing-based 2-DOF manipulator which controls the pose of lasers is introduced. By controlling the positions of the projected laser points to be on the screen, the proposed robot can estimate the displacement regardless of the screen size. We performed various simulations and experimental tests to verify the performance of the newly proposed robot. The results show that the proposed system overcomes the range limitation of the former system and it can be utilized to accurately estimate the structural displacement.

  • With the development of CNC(Computer Numerical Control) and communication technology, the connotation and functions of Distributed Numerical Control have been greatly enlarged. In this study, we develop and implement a Distributed Numerical Control system that has real time and multi-tasking operation capability for the machining cell with various NC(Numerical Control) and CNC machines. With the consideration of economy, generalization and extension, this system is interfaced with Shop Floor Control System, Machine Control System and Tool Preparation System using advanced networking method. In the implementation phase, we use the ORACLE DBMS (Database Management System) as the DBMS and Microsoft Visual C++ as the programming tools.

  • If the Visual Aids(light wave signs) is not supplied the general power it is using solar power system. These power supply systems, the role of the charge/discharge control is very important. Introduction of IT(AIS etc.) for the effective management of the AtoN(Aids to Navigation) is a Visual Aids has been added to the device using the power to charge/discharge control, the need increases. The current charge/discharge controller is attached to the inside of the AtoN and checks on and verification of the maritime environment, depending on the difficulty. In order to resolve these issues in this paper, the Bluetooth module is mounted on the inside of the charge/discharge controller and proposed a possible system monitoring at close range. Advantage of the system implemented is a simple configuration and low installation cost. In addition, it can be applied to a variety of AtoN. Also, it has been able to check the real-time status information of the charge/discharge controller at a short distance in to reduce inspection costs, and reduce risk factors that might occur during check.

A Study on Applicability Evaluation of digital Photogrammetry for Settlement Measurement of Soil Contaminated with Heavy Metals (중금속으로 오염된 지반의 침하계측을 위한 수치사진측량의 적용성 평가)

  • This study describes the results of laboratory model test on settlement of soil contaminated with heavy metals, in order to evaluate the applicability of VMS to the measurement of gound settlements generated during the purification of contaminated soil. The measurement results for settlement of contaminated soil were compared using a 3D-Visual Monitoring System (VMS) based on digital photogrammetry and a total station. The test result showed that the settlement of the soil contaminated with heavy metals occurred a lot in the experimental condition in which the hydrophilic filter was applied. The minimum and maximum error ranges of VMS were calculated as ±0.36mm and ±0.87mm, respectively, and the error of VMS was satisfied in all experimental conditions. The average error rate of VMS was lower in the hydrophilic filter condition than in the hydrophobic filter condition. Therefore, it was evaluated that VMS can be applied to measure the settlement of contaminated soil.
