  • In this paper, an early termination algorithm for merge process is proposed to reduce the computational complexity in High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) encoder. In the HEVC, the same candidate modes from merge candidate list (MCL) are shared to predict a merge or merge SKIP mode. This search process is performed by the number of the obtained candidates for the both of the merge and SKIP modes. This may cause some redundant search operations. To reduce this redundant search operation, we employ the neighboring blocks which have been encoded in prior, to check on the contextual information. In this study, the spatial, temporal and depth neighboring blocks have been considered to compute a correlation information. With this correlation information, an early termination algorithm for merge process is suggested. When all modes of neighboring blocks are SKIP modes, then the merge process performs only SKIP mode. Otherwise, usual merge process of HEVC is performed Through experimental results, the proposed method achieves a time-saving factor of about 21.25% on average with small loss of BD-rate, when comparing to the original HM 10.0 encoder.

  • With the prolific growth of cable, satellite digital broadcasting and internet related industry, new digital contents are being demanded. Today, more end-users seek participations in the media through interactivity. Visual tracking technology, based on image processing, is mainly used in fields of human face tracking, security inspection, and traffic monitoring applications. In this research, we describe the interactive modules such as information display, e1-commerce and other services along with on-screen visuals on the streaming media using object visual tracking technology. • We are facing an era of automation where artificial intelligence works and an era of super-aging, where birth is rapidly declining. In this paper, we intend to perform the creation of an autobiography in conjunction with the generation integrated narrative storytelling, thereby exploring the potential for visual storytelling that can be extended to a variety of media format. The visual autobiography production program confirmed through an interview with the production participants that grandparents, grandchildren and granddaughter together became the main characters in the documentary, a valuable opportunity to reflect on their past memories and lives and recognize their meaning of life. The visual storytelling education program model and media life service presented in this paper will be shared by the youth and the elderly generation together and contribute to the 'sympathetic culture' as a social integration program.

  • Applying Visual Art to pop music performance is gradually increasing. A video editor which simply mixes a number of images was mainly used in the past, but now various computer software make it easy to control visual art by development of computer technology, and it became possible for you to express unique and inimitable idea as well. Compare that a complicated equipment which makes them spend much expense and time was only used in the big size of concert hall in early days, a small and simple one now helps you easily apply your idea to Visual art in Pop music performance even in the small club. The technic of Visual art is being developed gradually especially by using computer The point of this study is how to apply real-time interaction between sound and visual image to interactive media art.

  • It is a recent trend to utilize a variety of visual tools(process map, mindmap, ERD) to create, when we create the design of information system or business models. Theses visual tool is standardized tools as process map or BPMN, on the other hand, there is also a non-standardized tools as mindmap. The utilization of the non-standardized tools as mindmap in startups is a increasing trend, because of the order the release of creative thinking to design new business model. Mindmaps can be divided into pen-based mindmap(of hand-written) and computer-based mindmap. This study was conducted under the premise of a different thinking pattern, when you take advantage of pen-based mindmap and computer-based mindmap. In other words, the pen-based mindmap is a tool for deductive reasoning and the computer-based mindmap is a tool would be more appropriate for inductive thinking. The purpose of this study is to investigate these relationships through experiments. In this study propose guidelines how visual tools, when designing a social media business models.

  • In this study, we developed a visual novel game as one of the donation campaign strategies. In study 1, we developed a visual novel game for the elderly who live alone. In study 2, we also examine how game affects personal distress and empathic concern, the emotions that trigger help behavior. The results showed that game can promote both emotions effectively. Moreover, empathic concern completely mediated between game and donation intention. This result suggests that visual novel games can be an effective tool for stimulating user's altruistic motivation to do donation behavior.

  • Changes in a society and visual media has a tight relationship. Photography represented the last 20th century in the visual media; while the 21st century we live in is represented by moving image(video). The change of visual media also brought changes to the archaeological recordings. As information is gathered from the field work in archaeology, it seems that use of video recording, a reliable way of collecting and recording data, will increase. The process of archaeological excavations can be considered as a contents itself. Also, video recording has many advantages when recording environmental surrounding of the sites and artifacts, for the reservation of the scenery, and as recorded heritage of the humankind. Video recording can be a tool of conversion to public archaeology to devote to its social and academic roles. Considering all of the above, studying ways to record and preserve visual materials is essential in the field of archaeology and we should be prepared for it. We strongly propose reinstatement of the visual archaeology, which should be studied in archaeological perspective. The direction of the study of visual archaeology can be summarized into two. First is the study on the video recording during field work and the archive of video recordings. Second is the study on the media as the tool of communication. More detailed and organized research should be considered in depth in the archaeological theory and methods.

  • Recent complex visual culture is the visual world widely magnified according to the images like image, graphics, photograph, movie, and television, etc. by the development of digital technology. Because it conveys meanings and contents inserting sound and letters, it may have multimedia character conveying and communicating information beyond general language and letters. The vision for various images at that time is inseparably connected with language. And imaginative order of image and vision are composed of special way in culture and history. Language is different in society, culture, and history. Accordingly, if visual experience is communicated with language partially, it is difficult to have university. So, role of linguistic order plays an important role in forming and defining the social and cultural differences among the visual systems. Historically various visual and optical devices with this visual language have influenced a lot. These visual technologies are concrete and physical practice determining a way to get together with the subject and the visible object in the visible world. The visual language is connected with dimension like these symbols of images and the dimension like visual technologies to series of historical physical and institutional practices. It determines social visual mode toward object world in one of visual system. Accordingly, this study is to understand visual language with social and historical character according to the changed concept and characters as development of media technology. And it is to explain it in view of visual language as a dimension of symbol and visual technology of institutional and physical practice. After all, it cannot explain the effect on the function and visual mode of visual technology as its technical element only. It also cannot separate with the practice with coherent discourse and the physical and institutional practice. The possibility, technical element of technology contains, does not realize as it is but the effect is always communicated in the social veins and realized with a restriction.

  • Text has evolved along with the history of art as a means of communicating human intentions and emotions. In addition, text visualization artworks have been combined with the social form and contents of new media to produce social messages and related meanings. Recently, in text visualization artworks combined with digital media, communication forms with viewers are changing instantly and interactively, and viewers are actively participating in creating artworks by direct engagement. Interactive text visualization with additional viewer's interaction, generates external dynamics from text shapes and internal dynamics from embedded meanings of text. The purpose of this study is to propose a visual dynamics model to express the dynamics of text and to implement a text visualization system based on the model. It uses the deconstruction of the imaged text to create an interactive text visualization system that reacts to the gestures of the viewer in real time. Visual Transformation synchronized with the intentions of the viewer prevent the text from remaining in the interpretation of language symbols and extend the various meanings of the text. The visualized text in various forms shows visual dynamics that interpret the meaning according to the cultural background of the viewer.
